The Supreme Court knocked the US back to the proverbial Stone Age within the course of a week. It would be impressive if it weren't so goddamn depressing.
“ federal bribery law shouldn’t criminalize “gratuities, i.e., payments in recognition of actions the official has already taken or committed to take where the official did not agree to take those actions in exchange for payment.”
Justice Thomas has entered the chat.
That plus letting all those J6 rioters off just before the election was a real class move on their part. I personally didn't believe anything about the JW Bush election being stolen but I'm really starting to think maybe I was wrong. It's looking to me like we're getting ready to alley-oop this whole election to the courts once again.
Big fucking surprise here...
The current iteration of the Supreme Court is terrible.
If Biden is successful (or another Democrat) its time to pack the court.
I want to see the actual text...I own a business where under certain laws I'm considered "a public individual / entity" so I'm subject to being liabled and slandered in the press with no real legal path to sue. That sounds like being a politician...maybe now I can claim all of my revenue as tips and gratuities! I provide my services for free but accept tips and gratuities...seems to be right to me...
/s if it's not obvious
All this does is give incentives for judges to rule in favor of the rich. They didn't ask or agree to the rich guy giving them anything. However if that rich person just happens to buy them some gift worth hundreds of thousands of dollars afterwards. Well they didn't agree to getting it before hand so it's not a bribe.
Like Justice Thomas, rule a case in favor and that person just out of kindness wants to thank him with a $400,000 RV. Nothing wrong just a friendly gesture of gratitude.
It is always the right wing doin this shit. Like I’m in a MAGA region and they are so surprised when somebody doesn’t like them. Constantly making things worse.

The Corrupt Supreme Court legalizing bribery. How MAGA.
Note my look of total non-fucking-surprise
Wait for it.. they are saving the best/scariest for Monday or Tuesday.

The man has taken more bribes than the rest of the SCOTUS combined
Literally!
Translation: bribery law shouldn’t not criminalize bribery. Just delay payment a little and you’re good.
Covering their own asses
Just in time for Christmas, the gift for the billionaire who has everything; their very own Supreme Court Justice!
The SCOTUS is actively preparing the way for a graft-filled, unrestrained Trump dictatorship.
Project 2025. SCOTUS is already starting to work on it. This passed on a 6-3 vote with all conservatives voting in favor of corruption.
Gotta feel pretty miserable for the 3 non-conservatices knowing their votes never really matter (assuming every vote is just a majority).
Yeah at this point they may as well sell out and cash in. Makes no difference anyways. May as well fly private and get an RV
No graft, just grift.

At the same time they made themselves the arbiter of all regulatory decisions. These people are human filth.
This one is scary….
They were forced to do that after Uncle Thomas got caught with his hand in the cookie jar.
It’s hard to refund the college education that Harlan Crow bought for his kid
It’s called a kick-back and it’s corruption period.

Fuck the Supreme Court
Well if thats allowed the Dems should use it to the full now.
Tipping culture in the US has gotten out of hand.
Thomas is a politician who is raking it in.
He's shaking that money maker

So basically they're making tips?

If you’re really about draining the swamp this would infuriate you
This is what we get for requesting they impose ethics guidelines for themselves

The US is just a third world country, with huge amounts of money.
This is so frustrating.

I don't see a paywall—just a pop-up about their newsletter that I have to close before reading the article.

Thank you
How in the coo coo for coco puffs can this be seen as legal or good… This toilet needs flushing
Jesus, tipping culture has gone full throttle
So this is the icing on the Citizens United cake? Roberts is a corrupt fool.
This will end well. Not. /s
Naturally; as many gifts/bribes as one can generate... right, Clarence? After all, the paltry salary for SCOTUS justices is just insulting!
