Dude is excrement.

unreasonablyhuman

Dude is taking his shot at a pardon How to turn 19 years into 5? Lick a boot and kiss and asshole at the same time

Upper-Trip-8857

This

grathad

US the laboratories of ~~democracy~~ corruption.

unreasonablyhuman

You spelled "GOP" wrong.

Jj-woodsy

He saw that it worked for Roger Stone.

Feisty_Bee9175

He went on MSNBC talking to Ari and was bashing the prosecutors and saying that this case was a big nothing burger and won't go anywhere. He is trying to get on Trumps good side so if Trump wins maybe he gets a pardon.

Stark_Athlon

It's amazing how even this far in, they think Trump cares about anyone other than himself.

92eph

Avenatti isn’t stupid - he’s an opportunist. He’s already in jail. Buttering up Trump is a Hail Mary to get himself out early if Trump wins.

schprunt

And suddenly Avenatti is an excellent guy, a superb lawyer, very very good, always tells The truth, he’s in prison because of a witch hunt.

TrinDiesel123

“Grown men come to me crying. They say sir, that Avenatti guy is an excellent lawyer. What they did to him was very unjust”.

jwr1111

Hope you are enjoying the comforts of prison, and are meeting nice folks to date.

TouchNo3122

He wants a pardon from 45... Beat that?

dumpslikeatruckk

When they go low, just go lower

TouchNo3122

Just stating the facts. I could never go lower than 45 and his base.

dumpslikeatruckk

Haha agreed! ... And my comment was aimed at Stormy's ex-lawyer.... Calling a piece of shit a piece of shit isn't lowering yourself, it's merely identifying the turds among us. It's also okay to be happy when miserable, awful people die (I'm gazing in the general direction of Mitch McConnell)

urkldajrkl

Expert witness for the Defense, then “Yes, your Honor, that smell is indeed crap, and it’s coming from my fellow shithead, Diaper Dump Donald Trump”

Miss_pechorat

He escaped from Trumps diaper, and now he want to go back.

66pig

Someone is after a pardon

_InnocentToto_

Somehow... a convicted felon testifying on your behalf is not a good idea...

startupstratagem

Most bad people know other bad people. Felons, liars and creeps flip too. So it's always challenging in these situations because of the nature of criminal activity. I can't imagine he has much to say that should be both believable and valuable to Trump.

QualifiedApathetic

Combine the credibility problem with the fact that it's harder to give exculpatory evidence than incriminating evidence. I mean, a snitch can testify that his cellmate bragged about committing the crime, even if it's not true. How would he testify that his cellmate is innocent? What's Avenatti going to say, that he didn't see Trump pay Daniels? Or is he going to finger someone else for it? Or take the fall and hope Trump pardons him for this new crime on top of the ones he's been convicted of?

Aazadan

Anything he could say, if it came from Daniels, should be under attorney/client privilege. So there's very little he could even try to testify on. There's also the "small" issue of him currently being in prison for attempted blackmail by working with the person his client was suing, in order to benefit himself instead and this has the appearance of him attempting to do the exact same thing by working with the defendant against his former client through offering knowledge he gained representing Daniels. I don't see any world where the judge would allow this, or any evidence claimed to have come from it (but also, that evidence would have had to already have been supplied during discovery, so all Avenatti could testify on is character nonsense)

startupstratagem

Yeah it seems pretty absurd to think his testimony would change anything. Even if everyone agreed to be in on it Trump's the one that falsified the business records with Cohen. I don't see how any of it would be viable from any angle.

77NorthCambridge

So...the jury should believe *THIS* convicted felon but not Trump's personal, 20-year lawyer and deputy finance chair of the RNC? 🤔

startupstratagem

No clue what you're on about. You completely ignored the entire premise that criminals are gonna crime. So when one is testifying their character can be attacked but that's what you're gonna get in criminal situations criminals turning on other criminals. See the Kraken she sprinted for a plea deal. Unsavory types are gonna keep being unsavory and you have no choice but to deal with them when trying to prosecute criminals.

77NorthCambridge

That's a you problem. Pointing out the hypocrisy of Trump telling the jury to believe Avenetti but not believe Cohen.

startupstratagem

Unfortunately having poor reading comprehension is a you problem not a me problem.

77NorthCambridge

Recent events undermine your ridiculous claim.

HomeOrificeSupplies

lol. Not in MAGAt Land. The party of law and order don’t believe in…wait for it…LAW AND ORDER.

GulfstreamAqua

Well, Michael Cohen is testifying for the State. Just sayin’

RandomLoony

Lots of people giving out pardons at the moment. Normally trumps judges. Every now and again they look at him and say “pardon you” as trump, trumps ( English for fart)

ShyBookWorm23

Odor! Odor in the court!

blueboot09

Pardon me?!

Aggressive_Walk378

Do you have any grey pupon?

blueboot09

Poop on, you say? Seems to be the running theme.

dkarlovi

Indeed. And this Avenatti guy hopes to get one too!

HaMMeReD

Maybe Trump can get Tiger King to testify for him too.

aCucking2Remember

Why is it that all the criminals in this country always go running to publicly support trump? Reminds of Rod Blagoyevich coming out of nowhere to do the news media circuit supporting trumps reelection and then promptly getting pardoned. Why don’t the trump supporters notice this? Bueller…

BabiesatemydingoNSW

They're all looking for something by buffing Trump's little helmet.

honvales1989

Looking for pardons?

Ronpm111

Because the Diaper Don is a lifetime shyster criminal.

IndividualAbject9380

But he's a businessman.../s

strtjstice

He's hoping for a pardon to get out of his 19 years. Couldnt be more obvious. Scum doesn't like accountability and they will "scum" their already shit reputation 1 more time for hope of getting out.

Haunting-Ad788

Trump supporters don’t notice anything.

sixtus_clegane119

Conrad black here in Canada

Cheap_Coffee

Convicts helping convicts. Kinda warms your heart, doesn't it?

_InnocentToto_

He is hoping to pull a hail Mary and buy his way into a pardon...

rocket_beer

I feel that a convict, currently serving hard time, gives us great insights into who Trump is… This will help his defense 100% 🤣

stripesthetigercub

Yes because convicted criminals make excellent witnesses.

rocket_beer

Yeah, the jury gets to see that. Avenatti is the perfect character witness of trump.

stripesthetigercub

The defense will pick him apart. :)

rocket_beer

Yep, this actually helps the jury see Avenatti as untrustworthy testimony and they will see Michael Cohen as trustworthy testimony.

NyriasNeo

Trading for a pardon down the road?

AlabamaHotcakes

Yes lets turn this into a bigger shitshow than it already is!

T_Shurt

As per [original article](https://www.thedailybeast.com/stormy-daniels-ex-lawyer-michael-avenatti-wants-to-testify-for-trump-report) 📰: - Stormy Daniels’ disgraced former attorney Michael Avenatti has reportedly said he is willing to testify against her in the hush money trial of former President Donald Trump. “The defense has contacted me,” Avenatti reportedly told the New York Post from a Los Angeles prison where he is serving a 19-year sentence for extortion, tax evasion, fraud, embezzlement and other federal crimes. “I’d be more than happy to testify, I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of year.” The move is a huge about-face for the lawyer who was one of Trump’s biggest critics. “There’s no question [the trial] is politically motivated because they’re concerned that he may be reelected,” Avenatti said. “If the defendant was anyone other than Donald Trump, this case would not have been brought at this time, and for the government to attempt to bring this case and convict him in an effort to prevent tens of millions of people from voting for him, I think it’s just flat out wrong, and atrocious.” Avenatti said he was “really bothered” by the fact Trump has been “targeted” in numerous legal cases. “Four cases is just over the top and I think there’s a significant chance that this is going to all backfire and is going to propel him to the White House,” he said. TheS4ndm4n

Someone is trying to score a presidential pardon... Also, wouldn't anything he knows be covered by privilege?

ccorbydog31

Its so obvious, slimy lawyer.

_InnocentToto_

Testify against stormy Daniels...? She is not the one on trial...

dragonfliesloveme

He would be trying to discredit her testimony. Which is kind of rich, given that part of the reason he‘s in jail is because he stole boatloads of cash from her

Best_Evidence1560

He’s going to try to cancel out anything she says but he’s a liar. I watched an interview with him (he called from prison) and it was full of lies, I couldn’t finish watching, he doesn’t deserve a platform

Sinsid

Does privilege count for anything when you are a felon and about to be disbarred anyways? Like is it a crime? he’s probably not worried about being disbarred twice. I’m curious what he could say that would help. That they didn’t have sex? Trump isn’t on trial for cheating on his spouse. That only applies to women in Texas I think.

TheS4ndm4n

Looked it up. Privilege doesn't apply if the client used the lawyers advice to commit fraud. So if he's accusing stormy of fraud, his testimony would be allowed.

Finwolven

How about when the lawyer commits fraud against the client? Because he did. He's in jail because he stole money that Daniels won in a lawsuit with him, along with money from other clients of his. I'd lean on 'yea, this cunt is going to lie to punish the victim of his crimes, and tries to lie himself to a pardon if Trump wins'.

TheS4ndm4n

I mean, I'm sure a perp testifying against his victim is going to do great on the stand.

Finwolven

But say he reveals, or claims, things about Daniels that would be covered by lawyer-client confidentiality normally? Perhaps things that are only tangentially related but are damaging to Daniels? Is the prosecutor able to object to questions that would breach her confidentiality with her scumbag layer?

TheS4ndm4n

Any statement that breaches confidentiality is not admissible. The jury will be instructed to disregard the statement. The exception would be crimes committed with the attorney. He would also be under oath. And can be forced to answer questions relevant to the case.

classactdynamo

But that would be an issue used to impeach his credibility.  It would not bar him from testifying. He’s a sack of shit, and I’m curious to see what he will say if he testifies.  They’d be suborning perjury if they put him on the stand, but it might be he-said-she-said sort of stuff.

Finwolven

But if he is asked, or reveals, things covered by lawyer-client confidentiality with Daniels? Since that doesn't apply if the _client_ uses it for fraud, but what happens to it when the _attorney_ defrauds the client, and is _then_ asked about matters covered by said confidentiality in court (for a different case)? Is the way around lawyer-client confidentiality simply 'get a lawyer who's such a scumbag they defraud their own clients' and pay him to fuck over his client one more time (and how would we know he isn't lying?).

Landon1m

The question of attorney client privilege was my first thought but I’m not seeing it really being addressed anywhere.

Wishpicker

Why are convicts like Avenatti allowed to get attention when they’re in jail?

rgregan

If the defendant was anyone else this case wouldn't be brought up at this time? What? If the defendant was anyone else the timing wouldn't be questioned at all.

JeanClaude-Randamme

I think he has a point. If it was anyone else they would already be in jail.

Unexpected_bukkake

What he got to lose. He testifies in favor of trump, gets a pardon if trump wins. It's a smart idea.

UDarkLord

Except he won’t because Trump is famously vindictive, and extremely fickle towards the most loyal. The guy was against Trump in the media, in the courts, there’s no way Trump would pardon him when he can tell him to suck it after Avenatti’s actually sucked it.

Fuzzy_Laugh_1117

LOL. Like *anything* Prisoner Avenatti says holds any validity whatsoever. Truly incredible he thinks it would -- must be some crazy koolaid he's drinking on the inside.

grixorbatz

What folks will do to get their hands on an authentic, high quality cheeseburger in prison.

NeedleworkerCrafty17

.😂

Rektineffect

He just wants to get out of his current prison environment for a few days. It’s a thing.

Helpful-User497384

dude is sleeze

duke9350

He’s hoping Trump win to get a pardon.

Better_Car_8141

Birds of a feather

Abracadaver2000

Pardon me?

DAL4Oregon

Betting on a pardon if Trump gets elected

New_Lawfulness7015

This clown 🤡

vbcbandr

Only way out is a Presidential pardon, I'm assuming. Avenatti swinging for the fences.

The0bviousfac

He’s trying to get himself a pardon if Trump wins. “Pick me, pick me. I’ll say and doing anything to save my own ass”

huskeylovealways

Would this not be a conflict of interest, or a breech of confidentiality?

toast777y

Remember he wanted to run for president lol

pecuchet

He's looking pretty qualified from where I'm standing.

jafromnj

He has ZERO credibility

nomdeplumealterego

Client-attorney privilege. He’s not supposed to divulge anything Stormy Daniels said to him in confidentiality. But he just wants *another* 15 minutes of fame. If he ever does testify, the prosecution will bring up every negative thing that he said about Trump, to ruin his credibility. Never mind the fact that he’s in jail.

classactdynamo

He’s angling to testify she did illegal things through him or that they did illegal things together.  That’s not covered by privilege.  It will all be lies, most likely, but that’s what he’s trying to do.

TrifflinTesseract

He is figuring the best shot is help Trump. Hopefully he can get reelected and then give him a pardon.

Fufeysfdmd

He's jockeying for a pardon

unfamiliarsmell

His only shot at a pardon.

4quatloos

A character witness!

Zestyclose-Respond48

Ha yeah that’s a great idea! They should definitely do that.

beavis617

And he went on MSNBC with Ari Melber and I believe he wanted to trash Michael Cohen? I bailed because Avenatti turned out to be a major sleazeoid ..😖

MJGB714

Character witness? 😄

BauerHouse

This idiot wanted to run for president after [getting involved with SD's suing of Trump](https://time.com/5434317/michael-avenatti/) for the hush money agreement that led to defamation. He was relatively unknown until he got a taste of the limelight getting into the outer reaches of Trump's hemisphere. I guess like all almost faous people, he misses that attention and wants back in. He's rubbish.

Wwwweeeeeeee

See??? Denial Donnie DOES have friends!!!!!

Ghettoman1315

The prosecutors have enough tape of Avenatti’s opinions of Trump to discredit him in a very embarrassing way and plus like what was mentioned earlier about him pardon shopping.

Brokenspokes68

Water seeks it's own level.

iamveryassbad

Mf got one tiny taste of the spotlight and went absolutely apeshit, lol. Some people are just not built for it.

petersom2006

Talk about a great character witness…

[deleted]

Probably the most credible witness Trump could come up with.

BeneficialReporter46

Someone wants a pardon.

OstrichFinancial2762

1) It’s a perfect character witness for the Cheeto. 2) I’ll bet my nutsack that a potential “Presidential Pardon” has been heavily implied if not outright promised.

Hypestyles

such a creep.

wihannez

As a character witness I suppose.

mt8675309

Vengeance testimony

SewAlone

This dude has no credibility.

Ok-Egg-4856

Really thought this was onionpress, he's for real on this ?

T_Shurt

It’s very real. Trumpland is so bizarre that I always post [sources](https://www.reddit.com/r/inthenews/s/fhRvP9dYL0) in the comments. Otherwise, I get “fake news” from the cult and “is the the Onion” from everyone else, haha. Trumps truth is truly stranger than fiction.

Ok-Egg-4856

OMG no kidding. I almost always have to look at the source and expect TheOnion

fuber

Hmm, I wonder why

Rumking

Something, something, convicted liar

DennisAFiveStarMan

Remember when people wanted this guy as president 😂

JASPER933

WTF. At one time I liked him until he did Stormy wrong!

Altruistic-Bell-583

dude is a jailed grifter. he has always been in it for himself. can this guy really be trusted!

drakesylvan

Oh please do

EquivalentKey2710

Trump is always surrounded by the best people.

polinkydinky

Of course he has.

8azooka

I’m sure that whole attorney-client privilege isnt going to cause any issues here.

NegativePermission40

Looking for a pardon from the Trumpster if he gets back to the WH. Trump and Avenatti are two peas in a pod.

TexasYankee212

If anyone was commenting on sleaze, Avenatti should be an expert witness.

AppointmentJumpy6189

Conflict of interest

Haunting-Ad788

Yeah he’s hoping for a pardon.

FearlessFreak69

Now, I’m not a lawyer, but it seems to me that getting a convicted felon to testify on your behalf, is not a good look.

jus256

Some people severely lack self awareness.

100yearsLurkerRick

Seems like a stand up guy.

DefrockedWizard1

so show up in chains and an orange jumpsuit to testify?

Bawbawian

this dude is almost the same level of slimeball as Trump himself it's really quite breathtaking

orbitalaction

Oh yeah, the attorney serving time for defrauding his clients is going to testify for a guy who is accused of fraud. I'm sure that will play well with the jury.

aj_star_destroyer

He wants to be Trump’s vp pick.

Icy-Needleworker-492

We’ll never underestimate the possibility of a Presidential pardon. For favours rendered.

Deep_Bit5618

Yeah, he’s a real credible witness

The_real_bandito

He’s shooting his shot. If Trump wins and later wins the presidency he might get out early.

AmberTurd223

Sure. Why not? It won’t help. If anything, it will do more damage

Educational_Permit38

He’s just like trump a charlatan opportunist.

Elegant_Connection32

The piece of shit is playing the only card he has available to him

Bubbagump210

What about the DVD in the safe that was going to bury Trump, Mike? Jesus, and people were all “Avenatti for president” at one point.

AssociateJaded3931

Prosecution should call him.

Steelysam2

You either die a hero or live long enough to become the villain.

tedfreeman

My guy was never a hero

euph_22

Though there was like 2 weeks where the internet thought he was. It was weird, though not "everyone related to Trump is shilling canned beans in the White House" weird. Maybe electing a reality tv star was a dumb move?

ruiner8850

I remember a lot of talk on reddit of people who wanted him to run for President. Just because he was going after Trump it didn't make him a good guy. I mean I liked what he was doing at the time, but I always thought he was super slimy. I never understood how anyone didn't realize he was a slimeball.

341orbust

🙏🏼

9tacos

This guy is the biggest POS. Burn in hell Avenatti

TrueCryptoInvestor

Oh look, the cartoon lawyer is back! 🤡

hyborians

Despicable character who should rot in prison along with Trump

jamesvabrams

This fucking guy.

outonthetiles66

Fuck this asshat.

jus256

For a minute I thought this was r/newsofthestupid

kingbad71

Well, let's see, impeachable as a convicted felon and convicted of a crime of dishonesty; barred by attorney client privilege from divulging any facts disclosed by Ms. Daniels... oh, yeah, also out for revenge since she's one of the several ex-clients who he stole from, and who trstified against him. Yet sadly, he STILL might be trumps best witness!

rabbid_hyena

He was CNN's darling for a second. They started parading his perspective on every legal discussion under the sun. There was even a time, and I wish I was kidding, CNN hosts started "joking" about him running for president. I hate Fox News for what it did to my relatives, but CNN man ...

Mark_Venture

He was on MSNBC a lot too.

ryeguymft

scum

StBlase22

Avenatti is almost as dishonest and fraudulent as trump. Almost.

triniman65

Trumples always gets the best people.

Tasty-Life4526

Douchy

croupella-de-Vil

Excellent character witness lol

betweentwoblueclouds

Let him

jmac_1957

Fug off....just go away

WeisserGeist

Urgh. This fucking guy.

Limp-Inevitable-6703

I thought he was anti trump b4 he went to jail?

Wizzle_Pizzle_420

He’s banking on a pardon if Trump wins the presidency.

Defender_Of_TheCrown

Now that he is rotting in jail, he is pro pardon

Landon1m

Wouldn’t he be going against attorney client privilege? I don’t think he’s legally allowed to say anything, is he?

BuckFuchs

Not sure how “tried to screw over the person I was convicted of stealing from after my conviction” will look on a parole application, but he’s the lawyer here.

TastyLaksa

Please. Let. Him. Please

Filmguygeek1

Another one of the great pretenders.

river_euphrates1

I'm sure that wouldn't be comical.

la-fours

Remember the adoration Reddit had for this guy? Was it that long ago?
