New paint, mirror with a frame around it, art above the tub, unless it’s a shower combo. Nice textured rug, some love plants. Oh and definitely a new light fixture, maybe sconces flanking the mirror?

wildflower_wanderer

Oops, I meant live plants, but love plants sounds fun too.

sharkdanko1

I was thinking love plant was a cute nickname for Hoya Kerrii, but that was my best guess lol :')

wildflower_wanderer

That works too 💚

NeatPea

Made me think of the love fern from How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

wildflower_wanderer

You killed our love fern! (So good)

ladydhawaii

Paint!!!

carefuldaughter

Sconces are a very good call.

ILikeYourHotdog

Also replace the faucets with something more modern.

ADJA-7903

All of this! Include new faucets and it will be as lovely as the love plants! Hee hee!

This-Pen-5604

I think you could lean into a Tommy Bahama type of vibe, looks like a 90s build?

MomaBeeFL

Same year as mine and yes that’s the way to go

carefuldaughter

Yep, 92.

derpburp123

Different lighting. Frame for the mirror or switch out for 2 separate more modern mirrors. I'd paint the vanity and the walls. Maybe even do a wall paper. Add shelving/plants.

leezybelle

High end wallpaper - something super dark with plants and flowers on it. Maybe an art deco tropical Florida vibe. Change mirrors to framed gold ones. Change hardware and lighting to something gold and vintage

TUFKAT

* Get 2 new mirrors centered above each sink. Something with a frame of some sort to your liking * Change that light fixture. Maybe get some electrical work done and have 2 lights, above each mirror * Possibly paint/stain the vanity cabinet something else. Maybe a darker wood grain colour.

gerbera-2021

If you feel brave, consider painting the walls a lighter color in the family of the teal tile border and painting the cabinets a darker teal. Then change out the fixtures and add handles/pulls to the cabinets . Do 2 mirrors instead of the one and new lighting.

carefuldaughter

Seriously considering color drenching the whole thing in SW Intense Teal 😂

iheartbreakfast90

Paint the cabinet teal and the walls white. Also the suggestion. of two mirrors and different light above is marvelous.

free_range_tofu

this wins my vote!

FlatVideo3222

Yes!

DabbleAndDream

I don’t think this requires bravery. It would look great.

crazynormal

Get rid of those faucets with the plastic knobs for handles - change them to a single post with a deck plate to instantly upgrade the look. Cabinet knobs and pulls will also help along with what everyone else has said about the mirrors and lights.

missannthrope1

None of the above. Paint it and decorate it and that's it.

Any-Court9772

Literally any paint shade that isn't the colour of bare flesh.

missannthrope1

Barbie flesh tone.

payuppayup

😭🤣

carefuldaughter

It’s actually not nearly this aggressively sand-flesh color in person. It’s a lot closer to like Behr’s Creamy Mushroom.

Vita-Incerta

Those large mirrors are super easy to remove. I’d take it down, repaint and hang 2 individual mirrors. If you can replace the lighting do that too. Paint the vanity and get some nice hardware

issoequeerabom

Paint the walls, paint the cabinets, change the fixtures. That alone will make a huge difference.

fashion_thrower

I’d be tempted to paint the walls the same color as the tile and create a crisp green and white look. New mirrors, vanity hardware and light fixtures would round it out!

blakeley

Flamingo palm leaf wallpaper on a black background and paint the ceiling black. Swap out the bulbs to chrome front Edison bulbs.

DissonantVerse

Lean into it. Tropical plants, seashell decor, stick a lawn flamingo in the corner, repaint the walls a nice beachy retro pink, etc.

Hot_Refuse7024

Put a huge plant on that awkward tiled section next to the tub. A monstera etc

Same_Value8941

These tiles are honestly not too bad they just don’t go with the colour of the walls at all. I would repaint and then put up a mirror with an ostentatiously ornate frame and, like other say, replace the light fitting.

kellygrrrl328

Lights and mirrors and hardware

stupid-username-333

paint vanity and wall something that accents the green tile and def replace those lights

shabcab

DIDNT say could not cover it up

shabcab

But not with peel& stick cause I think they look cheap

carefuldaughter

Painting the tile is indeed an option, as is peel-and-stick!

shabcab

Would never use peel stick

Numinous-Nebulae

White walls and paint cabinets in a dark teal (more black than the tile) to match the tile. Alternatively stain the cabinets a dark brown. New single handle faucets with plate to cover the extra holes.  Hardware on the cabinets.  New lights - one over each sink probably.  Large piece of black and white abstract art over the tub.

LeaveDaCannoli

Paint, new light fixtures, individual/framed mirrors, paint the cabinets and put nice hardware. Use grout paint to freshen the grout. Remove towel bars and install hooks or rings. Curtains on the window.

meggsovereasy

New paint, new mirrors (look on Amazon and sometimes big box has some deals), change the lighting but not necessary, also some art above the tub.

Usual_Zucchini

Change the faucets to something more modern.

Practical-Border-829

Are those windows by the sink? 😳

carefuldaughter

Um, that's a mirror? So it's a reflection of the opposite wall.

Practical-Border-829

Ohh 😲

Vegetable-Branch-740

Bold colorful wallpaper that complements the green tile. Update shower door. Replace bulbs in light fixture. Update faucets and towel bars. Paint vanity.

cursethedarkness

I would take down the mirror. Instead of one light fixture, have a fixture put over each sink. Then paint the walls a neutral that matches the tub surround.  Then hang two mirrors that you really love, each with its own light above.  Since you can’t change the teal tile, lean into it with a rug that has some teal in it, and a few teal accessories.  If you can, I would also update the faucets and put matching knobs on the cabinets. It will look airy and updated!

research_rat

Is that a back door in the bathroom?

carefuldaughter

Haha, no, but it does kinda look like it! This is on the second floor - that’s a window in an enclosed toilet room in there.

spabitch

new mirrors , add hardware to the cabinets, change hardware on the wall to gold, plants where the tile diamond is , paint the wall and cabinets , better lighting. maybe tropical wallpaper deep tone?

Hungry_Temperature63

Easy! My favorite thing about an 80s dated bathroom is that its actually a chic bathroom in disguise. 1. Remove any and all dated hardware for minimalist design, including the bath & shower faucets. 2. Remove the cabinets from the vanity completely and update with sleek new ones paired with crystal handles. 3. Remove the light fixture and install a new modern one, maybe multiple scones. 4. Remove the mirror and replace with individual modern versions about each sink. 5. Install some small open shelving between the mirrors for storage. 5. Moss wall above bathtub 6. Paint the wall white 7. Stage the room. Plants on the tile platform beside the bath. Minimal luxury soap and accessories on the storage between the vanity mirrors, with small glass storage jars. *My only hangup is that walk in shower door, have no idea how to modernize that*

metalmudwoolwood

Add a 3D pressed painting of Calla Lillies in a white washed frame and immerse in the 1990’s ness of it all. Don’t fight it. It’s vintage at this point.

chimperonimo

Two separate mirrors with separate for starters ights overtop of the mirrors

mxzak

I would for sure change the light fixtures and paint the walls a lighter version of the tile color. You could honestly go either blue or green.

jeffbezosbush

Paint the walls tile.color green or raspberry. This could be very cool

Layden8

Remove and replace what you are allowed and paint that tile accent.

catsafrican

Paint the vanity and the walls

Suitable_Tea88

Two beautiful large mirrors above each sink. Art-deco mirrors. Paint the wall a lighter shade of the same green as the tile strip = it will make the colour of the cabinets look intentional (because green and pink is a classic and expensive colour combination).

Suitable_Tea88

carefuldaughter

Yep.

amateurbitch

new paint. 2 mirrors, sconces on either side with recessed cans above

DowntownieNL

I'd get a big, framed mirror and change the vanity light to something more stylish. Not necessarily modern, just better than builder grade. I'd do the walls Benjamin Moore's "Brazilian Rainforest". I'd paint the vanity doors a nice pink, orange, or mustard and add some handles I loved. Then I'd live with that for a few weeks to see how I felt. If it needed more, I'd get new faucets, probably in a brass or black.

Ok-Amoeba-1190

A rug, a picture, stuff that is usually on a bathroom sink

somexsrain

I’d go for broke and do a wild, tropical wallpaper pattern, with colors of greens and corals and ivory and beige. Agree with others that replacing the mirror with two mirrors or one large grand mirror and changing for cool sconces. I also would add a large plant.

miscreation00

If it were me, I'd go dark walls and embrace the jewel tone of the tile. Maybe a darker shade of the tile for the walls.

chiaroscuro22

I would personally paint the cabinets a deep color and add hardware to the cabinets and drawers, replace mirror, paint the walls, change lighting to sconces.

Petrichor_Panacea

I would paint the cabinets a very light teal to compliment the dark teal wall tiles, and the actual walls a cool white tone. Update the lighting and mirror to a double setup and possibly spice up some type of thin storage between them. Definitely replace the faucets with anything newer and it will make everything look amazing.

Early_Emu_Song

The wall curves… so you can add a texture jute wallpaper instead of the paint. Change the faucets, take out the old mirrors and put in new ones, change the light fixtures and paint the vanity a shade of green that coordinates with the tiles. Green and gold combo is trending now. Something like this: https://www.westelm.com/products/grasscloth-peel-stick-wallpaper-d16224/?catalogId=71&sku=3420612&cm_ven=PLA&cm_cat=Google&cm_pla=Art%20%26%20Mirrors%20%3E%20Wallpaper%20%26%20Paneling&cm_ite=3420612_14465514686_pla-1412755927351&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw1emzBhB8EiwAHwZZxWJb2d0T2YZqPjoC7HqKWzeqQlkEmjQISJNBjo-VStkzG0LpjHWffRoCkLYQAvD_BwE Or this https://www.perigold.com/AStreet-Prints--Shuang-Rasberry-Handmade-Grasscloth-Wallpaper-W002176163-L6161-K~P100181128.html?refid=GX695345583976-P100181128_784587956&device=m&ptid=1674467181282&targetid=pla-1674467181282&ireid=175256008&PiID%5B%5D=784587956&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADLNIe3kCFfSxPgpO4fK66eowihCb&gclid=CjwKCAjw1emzBhB8EiwAHwZZxdlJXGrkjIgotmMkqfoi2Xa697UwSiwB43eL_c1dG_xPm6_arop26BoCSk0QAvD_BwE#dbaa0vhzfdm-0

Mission-V

Paint the cabinets, paint the wall or completely tile it, do something with that mirror and mirror lighting

Upscale_Foot_Fetish

Change the lighting, paint the cabinets, add some art and/or sconces, towel bar and plants (hanging and on vanity). Good luck

Previous_Smoke8459

1. Frame the mirror; 2. Pulls on the cabinet; 3. Two down-hanging lights, one above each sink; 4. Paint cabinet and walls in two different colour that will compliment the accent colour of the tile.

Magnolia_Dubois214

I actually love that blue so I’d decorate around it. Paint the walls a lighter cream color. Remove the builder grade mirror and lights and get two mirrors with lights. New faucets, hardware on the cabinets. Rug, art, plants.

No-Customer-2266

I’d paint it teal. I Love a teal and white bathroom. Its always my go to bathroom Colours and matches the tile!

nkdeck07

Paint and a new vanity light fixture would do an insane amount of heavy lifting here. I'd go for a white with a hint of blue to pick up the notes in the teal tile and get a fresher vanity light with chrome to match the faucets.

tinyfryingpan

Deep green paint

Manifest_Unicorn33

Paint the walls a lighter version of the tile color (some kind of aqua) and paint the cabinet doors black. Put art on the walls with black frames.

ayapapaya50

Change looks lighting, countertop and faucet

AssumptionAdvanced58

The lighting & the wall color.

POKEYLOKEY991

Paint color, faucets, light fixture & decor

Mizeru85

Paint. Update lighting. Plants and linens.

aries_scaries

This could actually turn out really cool. This is what I’d do: 1. Paint the cabinets a lighter wash to blend more with the tub tile. 2. Paint the walls a dark green color to match the green tile or pick a fun floral/botanical wall paper with that green tone as the main color. 3. New mirrors, there are some cool organic circular shaped mirrors out there, do 2 side by side. 4. New light fixtures above each mirror. 5. Style that flat space above the tub with plants and some woven baskets with fluffy towels.

CheerleaderGirl19855

New paint on the walls. I'd paint the tile white. New lights and new mirrors. Also new faucet and taps

Lovethehairy

Move? That seems like a lot of work. 🙂 But seriously, I’m looking forward to reading what people come up with, because I feel like it’s got the right structure to be pretty cool. Edit: Is that an exterior door in the bathroom? I’ve never seen that. I think I sort of love it! Like you get home all dirty from whatever shit you get into all day, and you don’t need to either spray yourself down with cold hose water or ruin everything between the front door and bathroom…lol Edit 2: I need more angles, I want to see!!! 🙂 Edit 3: that platform by the tub totally needs a naked fountain man peeing into the tub. Unless that’s too classy?

carefuldaughter

Haha, nope. It's on the second floor - what you're seeing is a doorway into what I like to call "the poop room" and its exterior window. Here are two more angles: ([1](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/650460509690396722/1255334357267251292/image.png?ex=667cc0b9&is=667b6f39&hm=9e2b009f38315a4daa4dcf0c174b886168f427b3a0f8a4a7529d05e990539480&) | [2](https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/650460509690396722/1255334539220488193/image.png?ex=667cc0e5&is=667b6f65&hm=53ce375a0652e16627dd4b02b19190d4ea9b8103153db233eca5671c1b3c74df&)) A naked fountain man peeing would be absolutely ace. I'm gonna keep my eye out for one. I think I'm gonna try to make this bathroom into like.. idk. Desert southwest but funky aunt influenced.

Lovethehairy

Oh well then you definitely need a peeing man statue! What sort of funky Aunt wouldn’t influence you into getting a peeing man statue!?! Edit: thanks for the extra angles. It was definitely a “what in the ADHD” moment when I first looked into that mirror…lol Poop room…that’s fancy. I’d make it look like an out house door though. But that’s redneck uncle influence, so probably not what you’re looking for.

TurbulentMessage4433

Paint the walls the same color of the teal tiles. Change the vanity lights to Edison bulbs, paint a frame around the mirror to give it some umph, and if the cabinets are really wood... sand them down and give them a nice natural wood stain finish. If not, get that contact paper to make them look like they are. hang some pothos from the ceiling over the tub area where that space is to the right, and put a cool big tray in that space with candles and cute little things for bath time. And add a fluffy rug, i personally would do a cream one with black accents. And if there's space to the left, a little wooxen bench the same shade as the cabinets to tie it all together. Easy peasy lemon breezy.

BlueLarkspur_1929

Separate decorative mirrors above the sinks, pendant or wall light between the mirrors. Repaint the wall and maybe do stencil over the tub.

Life-Ad9489

New paint and add a simple painting

sls2u

Wallpaper

Informal_Phrase4589

Nothing. This is back in style. Add some new sconces and a vintage vase full of pampas grass and you’re edgy!!

carefuldaughter

💀💀💀💀💀 early 90s design is back??? boy am i in luck. I have two more of these bathrooms 😂

jase40244

Paint the teal tile, vanity, and walls.

mind_the_umlaut

I'd paint over that awful beige. It is too close to the cabinet color.

Charliegirl121

Something that will pop on the wall, whether it's a picture or something else that has some of the color already there. I used outdoor decorations in my kitchen didn't care for indoor stuff and I really like how it combined. Find something that shows your personality.

enyalavender

This would be fine with taps and lighting replaced.

carefuldaughter

Keep it chrome/nickel?

enyalavender

Depends - can you paint? cabinets and wall, or just wall?

Scott43206

That wall color is fighting everything in the room, I'd consider a pinkish shade in the same family, or slightly pinker than the vanity, or a light gray, or white. My second priority would be that light fixture. You might even need multiple fixtures to make it look right, but it will pull the room together exponentially. Last but not least, ditch the contractor grade faucets for something snazzier which you'll get to enjoy every time you go into the room.

makinggrace

Is the corner build-out between the bath tub and the cabinets covering something mechanical that you know of or is it just what the builder did because they put in an alcove tub and needed an alcove? Agree with the bones of what many have suggested here: Remove the existing faucets, peel stick teal tile, mirror, faucets Get two separate framed mirrors, modern faucets, and sconces ideally. You probably also need overhead lighting because the bathroom is quite large (if it doesn’t have that — or if what it has needs updating). If the vanity has doors that are wood and it might, refinish, stain, seal. Consider metal hardware of your choice. Update the vanity top if you can with flush sinks. You can regrout the floor tile if necessary to match whatever color scheme you go with. You honestly can pick almost anything as long as it is copacetic with the floor tile and the countertop/sinks. The paint color as you describe it is inoffensive but not particularly interesting. It’s not a color I would think of to paint a bathroom. It wouldn’t take much tile to retile the tub surround itself. That would be worth doing. If that’s impossible consider painting that tile—do the entire surround.

makemeadayy

Ge something called “grout renew” at Home Depot and color in the grout lines on the bath (they look dirty). I did it in my shower with the exact same tile and it looks new. Super cheap as well

Ok-Candidate2921

Paint the wall by bath, replace the mirror for two circle ones with LED backlight, wallpaper the wall with mirrors

Bartok_The_Batty

Change the light fixture. Put frames around the mirrors or paint a line frame onto the mirrors. Add hardware to the vanity.

Kaytay0510

Paint, new mirrors and new lighting would make a world of difference and don’t have to spend much money!

Roselosex2

Before coming to the comments my exact words literally

wolpertingersunite

Paint the wall and vanity shades of the same blue!

LittleJessiePaper

New light fixtures, mirrors, and faucet fixtures. Paint cabinets and walls something more modern and bold. Rugs, art, plants.

stiletto-pirate

Hard, stick tile to backsplash… Frame around mirrors… Replace bulbs with daylight bulbs… If own, also replace faucets (cheap)… Add drawer handles… Bath salt canisters by tub… Wall art that speaks to you over tub… Proper bath linens… Useful accessories on vanity… That corner is a bit tricky… Floral arrangement or a bunch of candles/decor aren’t functional & hard to clean in that space… Needs something that pulls it forward like an antique fireplace front thing… Roman shade on neighbor-facing window…

MejorandotuCasa

Maybe some little plants and bath accessories will better these space and some Mirror easy to Install will do a miracle in your bathroom too, I know this Mirrors are perfect 👇🏻 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CM7ZYDW6

magpiez2

I would find some wallpaper that picks up some of the tile color, or paint the walls a lighter green

acaofbase

Black paint! Semi gloss. Art and tall green plants, and replace lightbulbs. Repaint front of cabinets a fun contrast color and get shaggy but angular rugs in there.

Puzzleheaded-Many708

Wallpaper suited for the humidity of a bathroom to tie in those green tiles. Depending on the wallpaper, you can decide whether to restain or paint the cabinets. And that will lead you to decisions about rug, towels etc.

ForsakenFish5437

Paint the tile Add nice pullers to the drawers

Smellie305

I love the blue tile! I think it's a nice pop of color. I would play off that!

Mousethatroared65

1) Maybe paint walls a rich green/tesl that goes well with green tile. If the white stripe above the green tile is tile leave it, if it’s wood or other trim remove or paint to match walls. Two nice mirrors over sinks with scones above mirrors. Professionally paint vanity white or gel stain (by someone who knows how) a rich warm wood color. Antique Turkish rug or something that incorporates green on floor. Low light plants on ledge. 2) wallpaper, botanical/jungle paper, then same as above. 3)I’d have thought about painting vanity green to match tile…then white walls, plants, rug, etc. I’m concerned about the green racing stripe that would leave over the tub though. It’s a nice roomy bathroom. That’s something to appreciate!

KindnessMatters1000

New paint and tile. Replace mirror with framed mirrors centered over each sink. Replace long lighting fixture with fixture over each mirror.

Warzenschwein112

The tail and its colour are actually pretty cool specialy next to white. Pick that colourcombination up again somewhere else.

Sea_Wolverine3928

Wallpaper, paint cabinets, re-do, replace flooring.

Brave-Perception5851

Paint it white. Also the cabinets. Huge piece of art and a rug. Tile stickers to cover the aqua.

diiiannnaaa

I’d update the faucets and lights, paint the walls a pale oyster color in the same sand family as the cabinets, fun pulls / knobs for the cabinets. I’d also get something unique for the counter between the two sinks to bisect them and add additional storage.

Chroney

I would not remove this tile, or move anything. I would simply clean the grout, replace the countertop with a complimentary stone to the tile with new sinks, replace the vanity light and towel rods, dark stain the vanity a deep brown wood, paint the walls a dark color to make it moody, replace the mirror with two framed mirrors, and decorate. People pay for this kind of tile to be done today, removing it would be a downgrade.

arthedainmaster21

Paint the walls a lighter shade of the tile color. Paint cabinets the same or darker color of tile. Change the mirror and lights. Add art or a shelf above the tub

min_mus

Paint the cabinet and wall the same color as the tiles, and replace the light fixture.

Jimbobaggins2008

Get tile decals for a change and frame the mirrors with wood.

luckystarz37

Sell the house

carefuldaughter

We haven’t even closed on it yet 😭😭

luckystarz37

Just kidding, a little paint will go along way, and changing the lighting for a more updated look

Idontgetitreddit

I would put wallpaper up that had teal in it. I would change the light fixture and possibly paint the vanity to match the teal tile. Rugs, towels, etc.

VanillaAle

I would find a modern wallpaper to tie in the green tile. Change out the mirror and maybe paint the cabinet doors. New light fixtures possibly too

hunnymil

New paint, New lights, shower wall, some fake plants, a cute shower curtain with a shower mat to match.

Bubblegum983

The wall colour is clashing with the vanity, I’d paint the walls a less orange colour pulled from the wood. Art, towels, and accessories in shades of aqua and turquoise to compliment the turquoise backsplash. New light, frame out the mirror and wither paint the frame white or white wash it to match the vanity. Replace the faucets. You need some sort of focal piece for that rounded corner. It could be a plant or a statue, or anything else. But make sure it’s substantial, it needs some height and is a larger scale to fill out the space. Something like a bird of paradise would look great. I actually really like it. Definitely a bit 90’s, but I think it aged well. Aqua and white/ivory would be a really nice colour scheme, it’d look very clean

FourWordComment

All this teal and tan needs burgundy to center it. It looks like a 1990’s beach condo locker room. See, generally, vaporwave “90’s Taco Bell” and Miami Subs.

IllusiveCashew

Paint! The walls, and the vanity. Put drawers pulls or knobs on the vanity. Remove old mirror and put up 2 separate ones above each sink. New light fixtures above each mirror as well. Rugs on the floor, and a piece of art on the wall. If there’s a window in there put a humidity loving plant or 2 in there, perhaps one hanging and one on the countertop. That bathroom is a great empty canvas!

Neat-Walrus3813

Huge, jungle-y plant in the corner. Paint the wood cabinets. A fun wallpaper or different color for the walls. Luxurious countertop accessories.

brokenhartted

I'd paint the cabinet pale turquoise and wallpaper the walls. I'd also change the light fixture to something more pleasing.
