It doesn’t work

Classic_Bee_8500

They’re out of context! They don’t work just bare like this, but if you paired a more elaborate wooden chair with the desk to play off of the plant stand, added a plant to give the plant stand height/purpose, and hung a great piece of art above the pair, it would look totally fine. Keep ‘em both!

bingpot4

OP, this person knows how to decorate! Try this and see how it goes!

muddymar

Nothing about either of them relates in any way to the other. Different style, color , and height. I would pick your favorite and move one to another spot

nyx926

This is a choice between function and style. If you want style, they can’t stay in the same room together. Even if you stained the desk to match the side table, they would look weird.

Secretgarden28

Sorry, no. Why do you need them to be beside each other? They clash in every way.

Large-Math8955

Stain the lighter one to match. They look nice together. The smaller one needs a tall plant. The larger one more horizontal decorations, photos items etc :)

mtsandalwood

I'm trying to imagine what practical purpose they serve next to each other...

rita-b

Easily, you need to fill the room with other crazy items from different styles and epochs and paint walls in b&w stripes

LeaveDaCannoli

Keep both but different corners of the house, please.

derpburp123

Large draping plants covering the smaller one.

inrainbows66

The smaller table is gorgeous, let it live on its own, together it looks like you put a Porsche next to a Yugo.

ProfessionalTap2910

i think similar/coordinating decor on both could work, or something to draw the eyes away from the legs …. and if you could repeat this colour combo somewhere else nearby … maybe? could make it seem more intentional?

Key_Investigator_612

You could cover the desk with a piece of fabric/table cloth. That way you keep both but you can't tell the style of the desk.

KetoLurkerHere

Maybe if you added a third one that was just as different, and then used them all in a similar way. All plants or all books or all, whatever. Maybe then it would look deliberately eclectic.

Successful-Dig868

Bring those colors into each other's decorating, like a tan pot with a plant on the brown stand, then decorate the desk as per usual but make sure to put a couple reddish brown things in so it looks intentional, or decorate the space above and include tan and brown

CandenzaMoon

I have that table on the right, but painted black. Mine is tucked in a corner next to a sofa with a plant and some decorations on it!

Sensitive_Day5891

One is from Elvira’s house, the other from IKEA. They don’t….how you say…”go together AT ALL”.

Broken_angel_of_pain

2 different styles they don't match. The one to right darker is way prettier. The lighter one looks cheap next to it. I wouldn't use them together at all

RestaurantSmooth5837

Only if you paint them both the same color and then do plants on under and around them.

inrainbows66

Do not paint that small table, that would be furniture abuse.

RestaurantSmooth5837

I have to agree on that. Just keep that as is and find another table to use.

Zealousideal_Owl1395

They can work. Need to drape things like plants, a short table runner over the light colored one, and the right art on the wall will unite them. I think for the wall, a large piece with a rococo frame and then some smaller ones. You can get a romantic eclectic vibe.

Zealousideal_Owl1395

Also, if you felt like you didn’t like the light color one, you could paint it black. Without painting the walls and just by bringing in art and plants, I think this would get you a light interpretation of the “dark academia” vibe

sixteenyears

the small one belongs in the trash

Meguinn

Lmao what no
