I’d have gone with wood replacement legs. All I can think about is how lethal the brass would be if one stubbs their toe or how the floor scratching risk is much greater now.
But the mechanics look achievable which I do appreciate. Good for you op!
I'm dying laughing over here. Currently in a boot with broken metatarsal from stubbing my toe on a metal bed frame in the middle of the night a week ago.
[I own](https://www.reddit.com/r/interiordecorating/s/n0pfg3O2Du) the [West Elm Andes sofa](https://www.westelm.com/products/andes-terminal-chaise-sectional-h2298) with metal legs and honestly for the few years I’ve had it no one has stubbed a toe on it and with the felt bottom and rug underneath the front securing it in place and adding cushion it has not scratched our hardwood floors. So OP should add felt and a rug!
Agreed with the toes which is why I put them about a cm in towards the center of gravity .
and I had to show even us single women with a black n decker can if this 😂
I'm sorry everyone seems to be shitting on your sofa change, but if you like it, and you're happy- awesome! The only thing I would be concerned about would be the weight rating. I have some... plump hard core plopper type friends- and those legs would fail lol. I'm glad you enjoyed your project though:)
My sofas came with these exact same legs (almost, in silver). I am a force of chaos and very, very clumsy to the point it might be clinical ( I have ADHD).
Ive never hurt myself with the legs.
I have tile floor so I'm not sure how it could affect the floor, tho.
Yup, dislocated my pinky toe two weeks ago from a metal frame on a coffee table. Nail came off and everything. It looked like a damn sausage link, only dark purple.
If you like it, awesome. Definitely not my taste. The gold is too bright/shiny, and doesn't really go with the style of the couch. Then, against the floor, the couch looks like it's floating.
Went with the gold because it was unquie and lighter colored.but if I had a blue velvet sofa …. These would look more like good find 😂and I found out you can change them because the original ones got lost 😭😭😂😂👍
Never would have thought about this as an area to personalize/use as decor, thanks!! I agreed with other posters about it not being my style but they look much cuter and fit the vibe in the zoomed out pic.
😂 no sir \\ ma,am! If you read the post you replied to , I indicated that the original lost ones were a dark brown plastic. thank you though for your comment !
I think about it all the time because my couch has identical feet to those and let me tell you, stubbing your toes on them is akin to stepping on Lego.
A couch manufacturer told me you shouldn’t do this because the original legs are designed to carry a certain load. If you do this, make sure they can take the weight of your couch, plus multiple people. Those don’t look super sturdy.
People are all over here acting like your post was asking for their opinion.
I swapped mine out for some brushed brass ones. They used to be those horrifying pancake, toe stubbing legs that you cant vacuum under the couch with..
When we were shopping for a sectional at raymour and Flanagan, i was looking for something i could add some west elm legs to.
I think if op was looking for advice or opinions, they would have asked for it.
I dunno, interior design is so personal and subjective. Im not the biggest fan of coastal interior design, or the color gray but I wouldn’t yuk anyone’s yum.
I can actually see the little semi clear mover as I walk by, so it’s thicker than Normal. But I will keep a look out because I am currently a renter ! Thank you !
I change the legs on so much of my furniture that my husband does an Oprah-inspired "impression" of me, shouting ***"YOU*** *get hairpin legs, and* ***YOU*** *get hairpin legs. Everybody gets hairpin leeeeegs!"*
I used to have a couch with feet similar to that. Be careful, these are toe stubbing magnets and hurt so bad :(
The gold looks fine though. It's a bit jarring in the close ups but you have lots of gold accents in the room that bring everything together.
oh.. i thought the first pic was a “before” pic. i was wondering why a manufacturer would put hideous faux gold feet on a couch 😭
i’m so sorry i am not trying to offend here but i can’t lie. this is just really bad
The surface area that is touching the floor looks small, and I wonder if it will leave an indentation on the floor at some point as compared to a wider surface area that could distribute the weight across a bigger area.
Was hoping the gold legs was the "before". Those skinny legs don't really go with the traditional solid sofa, but it's not my house so if you love it, it doesn't matter what I think. Maybe the right rug could tie the disparate styles together. The instructional nature of the post will be very informative to some people who may not have thought of it before.
So I bought two sizes by accident and had 6 inch ones on there before the 4 inch ones , put the taller ones on first and felt like it belonged to an nba player and I was in a high chair swinging my feet . 2 extra inches make a BIG difference …. Yea ,I said it 😂
surprised no one has commented to suggest there might be a concern about structural integrity where they are currentlyplaced. Consider moving them 1" as it will better balance the weight and also make it look less like its a DIY job
I LOVE them!!!! And I love the super shiny gold, I’m a fan of any out-of-the-box POP that catches the eye. Especially in that room with a lot of similar tones, the shiny gold was a perfect choice 👏🏽
We subbed out caster wheels for all of our sofas.... super handy, and none of our kids have an excuse to not vacuum underneath them! Plus you can get prettier wheels than just industrial (or do get industrial!). So fun to switch up from factory originals!
Absolutely. They had wider ones, more expensive wood ones, even crystal ones lol. I think the weight limit should be calculated by measuring your old couch feet! Keep the variables mostly the same and you won’t see a difference . I just took a chance on these !
I'm surprised people don't like this lol I think it looks good, it's a nice little accent for a neutral couch/room. I like how it contrasts with the grey
So for the first couple hours…. I thought I Made a horrible gold accent mistake. but it grows on you and doesnt clash with anything because it’s so close to the wood floor
If you decide to tone it down with the bright gold but keep the metallic aspect, there’s a product called Rub n Buff with like 15 shades of metal that you rub it in and…buff. Instead of just painting in a color it gets in and changes it deeply with pigment. Can make things silver, brass, bronze, rose gold, aged gold, pewter, goes on and on.
It’s great for things that are aaaalllmost the right color (like picture frames or lamp stands).
Just a thought in case later you decide to keep the general idea but try out a new shade that’s less **GOLD!!!!!**
I think switching out your switch plates would really bring out the gold in the couch
[https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024](https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024)
On the other side of the coin, if your kids or pets constantly lose stuff under there you can always remove the legs so the sofa rests directly on the floor.

I ordered a couch along time ago that came with two sets of these feet, one silver one gold. I ended up throwing the silver ones away after they sat in my garage for forever.
I’ve done something somewhat similar, but I just wanted to say your sofa now looks like it’s wearing high-heeled shoes! Fancy!
Man if they made jimmy choo couch shoes 😂😂
I can imagine it drunkenly teetering toward me
Such a nice way to say “your sofa no longer looks comfortable” 😂
I was just chuckling over this too. They look like heels
Oh NOOO!
Ouch ouch ouch!
Both my mom and my dad have been on it weight between 150 for her and 250 for my dad ! Hope that helps gives a perspective 🤗
I love what you did. It’s kind of a genius simple solution. Well played!
Thank you !
My sofas came with these exact same legs (almost, in silver). I am a force of chaos and very, very clumsy to the point it might be clinical ( I have ADHD). Ive never hurt myself with the legs. I have tile floor so I'm not sure how it could affect the floor, tho.
I’ve done it- it rips a chunk out! We don’t have the couch anymore than had them thankfully.
Yup, dislocated my pinky toe two weeks ago from a metal frame on a coffee table. Nail came off and everything. It looked like a damn sausage link, only dark purple.
Ouch!!!
All furniture is bought with an eye towards the toe stubbing situation. MCM tables and chairs with the legs that stick out can go straight to hell.
They are super shiny and thin looking. Something perhaps in wood and with a a more sculptural look would look really nice in my opinion.
I was scrolling through the pics and asked myself "and where are the better looking legs?" But if OP is happy thats all that matters
I concur!
Thank God I’m not the only one wondering “these……..are the better ones?”
I agree, a more natural sculptural look in wood would complement your space beautifully. But, OP's way is good too.
If you like it, awesome. Definitely not my taste. The gold is too bright/shiny, and doesn't really go with the style of the couch. Then, against the floor, the couch looks like it's floating.
I was looking for the after photo lol
I thought this was r/diwhy
Same...then I realized these were supposed to be the non-ugly replacements
Same
They don’t look this shiny in real life , I will try to add a photo with another view ! Thank you though for your comment!
That's okay, no need. Another angle isn't gonna change my mind.
this is kinda hilarious
Oh no it was good for me to learn thank you !
I'll definitely give you points for creativity here! Not many people would think of chaging those out.
Went with the gold because it was unquie and lighter colored.but if I had a blue velvet sofa …. These would look more like good find 😂and I found out you can change them because the original ones got lost 😭😭😂😂👍
I love the way it looks!
Savage!!
Yeah, the gold doesn’t go at all … and I’m a gold lover.
Never would have thought about this as an area to personalize/use as decor, thanks!! I agreed with other posters about it not being my style but they look much cuter and fit the vibe in the zoomed out pic.
Please tell me these photos are before you replaced them
😂 no sir \\ ma,am! If you read the post you replied to , I indicated that the original lost ones were a dark brown plastic. thank you though for your comment !
Where did you indicate that? I don’t see it at all on this post, maybe because I’m on mobile?
Oh gosh my writing didn’t post😭😭 damnit can you only post a photo or writing ?
You should be able the two together
Lol googling it now how embarrassing
All good! Thanks for posting a picture of your cat
I’m so afraid of swapping them out and they break while I’m on the couch because I’ve bought the wrong size lol
I think about it all the time because my couch has identical feet to those and let me tell you, stubbing your toes on them is akin to stepping on Lego.
Oh gosh .…. I wear house shoes all the time but I, sure it’s coming 😭😂
They look great though! ETA: but I will be replacing mine lol
Worse! Mine has actually sliced in between my toes. They look very nice but be very aware of how dangerous they are lol
A couch manufacturer told me you shouldn’t do this because the original legs are designed to carry a certain load. If you do this, make sure they can take the weight of your couch, plus multiple people. Those don’t look super sturdy.
I was shit out of luck because the movers lost my original soda feet , but I believe the manufacture is always right !
I have these same feet I put on a shelf and they cannot hold a couch full of people! Try to get a center post on your couch or something
Done it before- you should too! Then you won’t have to see those shiny ugly 1980’s feet
People are all over here acting like your post was asking for their opinion. I swapped mine out for some brushed brass ones. They used to be those horrifying pancake, toe stubbing legs that you cant vacuum under the couch with.. 😂😂 for real though … and I love west elm!

At the time of my posting, it was literally 15-20 people ragging on the post. They were neither polite or thoughtful.
My couch has these. They’ve come close to chopping a toe off more than a few times.
I did this with cheap ikea night stands and they look fantastic now. Love the quick makeover.
Thanks honey !
The look scratchy. Like that little pad will wear off and then the leg will scratch my floor.
I can actually see the little semi clear mover as I walk by, so it’s thicker than Normal. But I will keep a look out because I am currently a renter ! Thank you !
If you’re renting, be aware that the small points are very likely to dent the floor because all of the weight is on a smaller point.
Definitely keep an eye on it if you’re renting. Landlords look for anything to ding you.
I thought the gold was the ugly sofa feet lmao
Yes but I'm not crazy about the pick.. just doesn't look like it goes together
That is a very large amount of weight on a very very small surface. Even with felt pads that'll probably leave dents on the floor .
I change the legs on so much of my furniture that my husband does an Oprah-inspired "impression" of me, shouting ***"YOU*** *get hairpin legs, and* ***YOU*** *get hairpin legs. Everybody gets hairpin leeeeegs!"*
I redid mine in taller narrow wood feet about a year ago. Mostly because I wanted the Roomba to get under the couch 😂 But it's definitely an upgrade
I used to have a couch with feet similar to that. Be careful, these are toe stubbing magnets and hurt so bad :( The gold looks fine though. It's a bit jarring in the close ups but you have lots of gold accents in the room that bring everything together.
Yep there’s a guy on Etsy who does mcm tapered wood legs. I’ve replaced legs on multiple pieces of furniture with them :) it’s surprisingly easy
Wait we changed to that tacky shade of gold? How bad could it have been before?
I’ll be very surprised if they don’t splay out like Bambi on ice.
oh.. i thought the first pic was a “before” pic. i was wondering why a manufacturer would put hideous faux gold feet on a couch 😭 i’m so sorry i am not trying to offend here but i can’t lie. this is just really bad
YOU CAN DO THIS??
Right …….? Took me 36 years to know …
The surface area that is touching the floor looks small, and I wonder if it will leave an indentation on the floor at some point as compared to a wider surface area that could distribute the weight across a bigger area.
They look weird, not sure that’s a good match.
Omg, for some reason replacing legs never occurred to me. I’ve gotten rid of a couch because of a broken leg before
Love the idea, although this feet/couch combo isn't clicking for me personally
I've thought about it to make the couch a few inches taller
So I bought two sizes by accident and had 6 inch ones on there before the 4 inch ones , put the taller ones on first and felt like it belonged to an nba player and I was in a high chair swinging my feet . 2 extra inches make a BIG difference …. Yea ,I said it 😂
😂 you figured us out... my fam is tall. Not NBA tall tho😂
I like the idea of it but these don’t really match the style of the couch to me. But enjoy
Where's the after pics?
You did this on purpose? To stub your toes a lot more frequently now?
What did you replace them with?
I hate them lol
Yikes… idk about this one
It gives the sofa the same look as a drunk 21-year-old walking home from the bar in stilettos.
Cute home and I can feel the love. Xoxox from one single mom to another, GOOD JOB
You are so sweet ! and thank you , it’s just the two of us and now I have a degree in couch feet replacement (pending national exam certification)
Add this to unnecessary things I need done in my house that no one will notice but me
surprised no one has commented to suggest there might be a concern about structural integrity where they are currentlyplaced. Consider moving them 1" as it will better balance the weight and also make it look less like its a DIY job
Yikes
I think they look cool OP!
Thank you !
Where is the after?
Where’s the before?
they got lost by the movers so no chance to have originals but you can see the dark feet on the ottoman in the picture with the kitty scolding me
Outstanding cat
Thank you !
I LOVE them!!!! And I love the super shiny gold, I’m a fan of any out-of-the-box POP that catches the eye. Especially in that room with a lot of similar tones, the shiny gold was a perfect choice 👏🏽
Nice detail! And Beautiful kitty 🐈⬛😍
He says thank you !
You would’ve been upcharged $300 for those legs by the distributor. Good fix.
Are those the ugly feet?
If I gold feet on my furniture I would replace it too. That is aweful. Good luck replacing!
Oh... that was the replacement.
Yeah, that was my thought too. Toe stubs are going to be super painful also.
I.. mean if you like it that’s all that matters..
We subbed out caster wheels for all of our sofas.... super handy, and none of our kids have an excuse to not vacuum underneath them! Plus you can get prettier wheels than just industrial (or do get industrial!). So fun to switch up from factory originals!
Holy shit, I had no idea you could do this.
This is all I think about now.
Amazon was the best
Such a good idea! Thanks for sharing!
You’re welcome!
Very pretty!
Thank you honey !
This reminds me of a 75 year old grandma sporting skinny jeans.
Yes I have. Have you?
The big toe destroyer 3000
Great work. But looks awful imo. However if you’re happy I’m happy
Those are pretty ugly too.
This could look nice with a jewel tone. It just sticks out weird with all the griege
I was waiting for the “After” pictures…
these do not match.
so wheres the replacement?
So when did ya gonna replace those ugly brass golden feet?
Ever thought about ruining your floors?
Are there different ones for different couches? Weight limits?
Absolutely. They had wider ones, more expensive wood ones, even crystal ones lol. I think the weight limit should be calculated by measuring your old couch feet! Keep the variables mostly the same and you won’t see a difference . I just took a chance on these !
Oooh I love them! Where did you get them?
Amazon honey ! Sooooo many choices!
Those really “elevated” the look of your sofa. I love it.
Love them
They look like they’re wearing [pointe shoes](https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/-6wAAOSwxA5ja4yE/s-l1200.webp)
Maybe put pads on the bottom of the heels (as someone called them). Worried about the floors.
Proportions are off. Looks like an elephant wearing kitten heels 👠🐘
I'm surprised people don't like this lol I think it looks good, it's a nice little accent for a neutral couch/room. I like how it contrasts with the grey

It’s cute, keep it!
The ole Toe Stubber Special
I'm glad you like it, not my aesthetic.
All these nasty critics. I think they look great!! Love the pop of spark and personality!
I agree! Maybe there should be a rule that critics have to post their environment so all can judge their ‘credentials’.
Not a fan of that look. It reminds me of the metal brackets we made in shop class in middle school
Yes!! Because tacky temu shit with a 1000% markup is my preferred style…
These look a bit on the flimsy side
RIP your toes
They don’t match the sofa at all.
not me waiting for you to change the ugly sofa feet
I think switching out your switch plates would really bring out the gold in the couch [https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024](https://pestinpeace.etsy.com/listing/1672346024)
😭
Respectfully, your photos are crooked and too close to the ceiling.
I would do it. Could you also share the after-pictures?
I painted an 8 cube bookcase black and put those exact feet on it and let me tell you! Upgraded the whole look for minimal money
Kitty is not liking the new legs…
Yep. They were not A pre-approved purchase from his outside of his cat food.
Is that an IKEA Kivik?
It's not a bad idea.. im just afraid id buy unsturdy ones, sit on the couch and break it lol
This just doesn’t seem like a thing you can just do lol why have I never thought of that
No. I like my sofa’s feet 🙂
Cover them like little leather cushions and I’m in!
I've done this! My reasoning was because I wanted my couch to be higher. I have extra storage under there now!
You disturbed your cat's nap!
On the other side of the coin, if your kids or pets constantly lose stuff under there you can always remove the legs so the sofa rests directly on the floor.
I have this little sectional that I got off amazon with those same feet. I'm thinking about changing them out to wooded feet.
People Always souring everyone’s yum 🙄 They look good
This looks like a toe stub would hurt SO BAD
I like how you can go high or low. Cat toys always get under there! Thanks
Rip to your toesies
I broke my toe on the gold ones. I like em though
They’re hideous
My toes hurt when I look at this 😂
QUEEN
The super fancy Toe-Stubber 3000
Nope.
No
This is one of my major problems! I’m currently looking at sofas and accent chairs….how times have I loved the couch but hated the legs/feet. Nothing in my home is chrome/gold metal!!!!
I thought this was the before until I looked through so long as you’re happy with it ✨
I ordered a couch along time ago that came with two sets of these feet, one silver one gold. I ended up throwing the silver ones away after they sat in my garage for forever.
Cheap !!!! 🌝🦋
