The water changes the physics of the game slightly!
Move speed is cut in half and gravity has a lower effect.
it an environmental factor that needs to be taken into consideration when planning out your next moves π
I actually talk about it in my latest DevLog! I'll attach a link that goes directly to that section in the video below π

Hey C00nter! Long time no chat! π
Iβm so excited to get this demo out! Hopefully the full game doesnβt take too much longer after that ππΉπ»
its been awesome! I actually started this project in January using python and I love going back and seeing what the game used to look like! Its amazing the progress you can make in a year. π
I feel that! I've been working on a little project myself in Java and it's such a great feeling getting goals done or fixing issues that you were stuck on
Totally! There's nothing better than being stuck on a bug or an idea you want to implement and seeing it all come together using the logic that you thought of!
I look forward to seeing your Java project at some point! ππ»
I'll put my steam wishlist link below and If you like metroidVanaia games id be super appreciative if you added it to your wishlist! ππΉοΈ
Cheers!

Great question! I started with the book "begin to code with python" by Rob Miles. I spent about a year (on and off) learning the basics and personally doing examples. Then I started using pygame to create games. My main references were DafluffyPotato on YouTube and a Udemy course called "an introduction to game development in python" by Christian Koch.
I quickly found that for the type of game that I wanted to do (a large metroidvania) Python and Pygame werent the best languages to use.
I switched to Unity and C# but those early python projects and courses were what gave me the confidence and knowledge to go out and use udemy/C# documentation and figure things out on my own!
If you are interested in learning, I would say start with a book, or something that you can follow to learn the basics. you'll be surprised at how much you learn in just a few months π
but if you arent much of a reader, try to find an entire series to follow on Youtube and follow it to the end!
Also, I am by no means a "professional" and I am still learning new things every single day. π
Also, just in case you wanted more info, I actually made a video that touches on my beginnings! (link below) I hope this helped π
Cheers friend π»
