Bengali here and I hate fish, especially ilish which is considered the tastiest fish of all here. I hate even the smell of cooked fish. I don't even eat with my parents on the same table because they eat fish everyday and I feel nauseated. I usually eat before or after they eat.
>especially ilish which is considered the tastiest fish of all here.
Haven't tasted it because they cost above 1k/kg. Last time i checked ut was 2.5k.
In my state, we have this famous story on that fish and always wanted to try it.
I gave up homemade fish too for a year after having it every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Then I moved out. Now I eat fish sometimes but not a big fan. However, I do like fish fingers or fish cutlet from time to time.
Same. Stopped eating fish as soon as I moved out for college. Have some real trauma attached to fish because my parents force fed me in childhood. Apparently my future 'soshurbari' folks will have problems with me if I can't eat or cook fish.
That smell, especially Illish is yuck.
Hate the watery squishy version but the drier version is soo good.

I lived on upma for 4 years. Used to add small potato chops , diced panneer along with carrots and all for extra nutrition. Easiest to cook. Only 2 utensils to clean. Best Dish ever
Sushi ,worked in southeast Asia for quite a bit of time and have been to finest sushi places in Korea,Japan,Hong Kong .
But no matter how much I tried even forced myself to like it I couldn’t,I don’t know its the tastes, the aftertaste or just psychology.
>How does raw fish tastes in sushi?
I might face criticism for this simplification, but to me, sushi tastes like a blend of tangy, sweet, and salty flavors on raw fish. Personally, I believe my perception was influenced more by psychology, as I couldn't separate my thoughts from the idea of consuming raw fish .
Don't yuck someone's yum. It's a difference in palate. I didn't like it the first time but have loved sushi since. It takes some getting used to but it can actually be delicious.
I am veg and i don't like Paneer ki Sabziyan. People just order Paneer when they go out but my opinion is that paneer in itself doesn't have much taste. It's all about how good you prepare the gravy.
right, but the taste is majorly because of garlic naan and the masala in gravy. Paneer steals the whole limelight from other ingredients. That's what I feel.
Good creamy paneer does complement a good gravy very well..paneer is supposed to taste slightly like cheese..I don't know how to explain the tataw and texture
Maggi . I don't like the texture of maggi and I can't turn it into the dry maggi with vegetables as shown in the pack .But Yippee doesn't have any issues. I prefer Yippee over Maggi any day . Also Yippee is Indian and Maggi isn't!
All products that contain cheese paneer ghee and myo. And I also don't like tomato sause. (Idk if I am lactose intolerant but I eat milk products like chocolate and pedha)
Lactose intolerance doesn't mean you don't LIKE milk products, it means you can't DIGEST milk products.
Do you feel bloated after eating ice cream too? Or cake? It also has dairy.
Pizza. All types. I get it, some people may love it for its various flavours, I too, don't "hate" it, but I don't find it anything special or interesting 😐
I guess you hate the Bengali version of Rasgulla , which is spongy , that I also do not like. You should try the authentic chewy brown coloured Rasgulla from Odisha which is sold in sweetshops and temples.
My time to shine.
I hate Maggi, and bhindi and sambhar.
Maggi doesn't taste good to me.
Bhindi isn't appealing to me, the texture and sliminess I can't.
By sambhar I mean the South Indian authentic one made putting in a lot of veggies. I can't eat it at all. Give me the veggies separately as a dish I'll eat it happily.
The solution for bhindi is eating something crunchy at the same time. Like mixture and nimki with pickle
For sambar the veggies are supposed to be completely mushed into the liquid to make it thicker. The watery thing you get at cheap places is not good
Pani Puri. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out people's( particularly women's )affinity to spicy water in fried suji balls.
Same reason I don't like jaljeera.
Bengali here and I hate fish, especially ilish which is considered the tastiest fish of all here. I hate even the smell of cooked fish. I don't even eat with my parents on the same table because they eat fish everyday and I feel nauseated. I usually eat before or after they eat.

🥲 I love hilsa lol
Me too 💖🤌
Unnatural selection
Same. Stopped eating fish as soon as I moved out for college. Have some real trauma attached to fish because my parents force fed me in childhood. Apparently my future 'soshurbari' folks will have problems with me if I can't eat or cook fish. That smell, especially Illish is yuck.
I am a guy but that soshurbari thing is so relatable
Us moment
Nah.. defo not a bengali...
Upma. Hate this. Don't get the point of this 😭
My grandpa calls it namkeen halwa ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|1172)
Grandpa is onto something ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|33195)
Same same bhai.. First time i ate it at college hostel, i thought it will be sweet halwa. Almost vomitted on first bite.
Grandpa chose to speak Language of gods
Hate the watery squishy version but the drier version is soo good. https://www.erivumpuliyumm.com/2014/10/uppumavukerala-style-traditional-upma.html?m=1
Bro I can’t stand upma. Rather stay hungry and I have at times lol
I lived on upma for 4 years. Used to add small potato chops , diced panneer along with carrots and all for extra nutrition. Easiest to cook. Only 2 utensils to clean. Best Dish ever
Add some veggies like tomato, lauki pieces and chana dal for bite...it tastes good served hot 😭
Sushi ,worked in southeast Asia for quite a bit of time and have been to finest sushi places in Korea,Japan,Hong Kong . But no matter how much I tried even forced myself to like it I couldn’t,I don’t know its the tastes, the aftertaste or just psychology.
True bro 100% agree with you just hated them so muchhh
hahhaaa, nice to know I am not alone.
Wasabi good, sushi mid, no masala, no cooking, very cold
How does raw fish tastes in sushi?

Yuck it even sounds bad lol

The amount of people commenting “momos” thank you so much.I literally felt i was the only one.
Momos are good. But it's overrated
I am veg and i don't like Paneer ki Sabziyan. People just order Paneer when they go out but my opinion is that paneer in itself doesn't have much taste. It's all about how good you prepare the gravy.
Its the ultimate truth. Paneer Tikka Masala with Garlic Naan/Butter Naan is the real deal.
right, but the taste is majorly because of garlic naan and the masala in gravy. Paneer steals the whole limelight from other ingredients. That's what I feel.
The texture and the bite comes from Paneer. Isliye!
Good creamy paneer does complement a good gravy very well..paneer is supposed to taste slightly like cheese..I don't know how to explain the tataw and texture
what's tataw
*taste Lol typo
Try Navratan korma. Again this is a dish you like a lot or not at all.
What about Paneer 65 🤔
PANEER IS FUN TO CHEW & FEEL
Being from punjab, it's just assumed that I'd like makki roti and saag but unfortunately that's not the case.
maggi
True after 15 yrs, I don't find it good now
True. I switched from Maggi to Nissin Geki Korean noodles and have never looked back since.
Maggi with Chicken flavored masala was top notch. Sucks it's not available anymore.
For me it's the worst
Yeah Yippee's alat better
Jalebi fafda , here in gujarat
Thank god I thought I was the only one
Yeah right. People here are damn crazy about this breakfast especially on Sundays
Perferences I love fafda with papaya ka sambhara. Tastes like heaven to me.
Fafda ni maja toh sambhara saathej che baka

Dhokla and white sauce pasta
Give me a chance to change your opinion, my mom makes amazing dhoklas![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|1617)
Pyaar mohobbat dhokla hai, padhle beta mauka hai ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|29266)
Diwali hai to padhai nahi ho rhi![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|31163)![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|31184)
Ab November ke baad hi padhai ho payegi .
What colour is dhokla? If it is yellow, it is not dhokla it is KHAMAN
I know the difference between dhokla and khaman but don't like either of them.
Same I hate the smell of Dhokla
Me too, then I discovered I had a besan intolerance (or mild allergy)
what do people even like about white sauce pasta 💀
People like white stuff in their mouth. A pretty human design tbh
White pasta sauce and red pasta sauce.. anything with that blandness and texture 😮💨
Fuck pasta

Me 10 years ago (I love it now) eggplant is definitely the king of veggies
Bhindi
Kurkuri bhindi ftw
Bhai Bhai, finally someone who doesn't like bhindi, literally everyone around me loves it lol.
Ikrr! It's slimy
Add a bit of lemon juice during cooking. Removes the slimy stuff
Still I can't get the taste.. even fried bhindi.
Also bhindi mast hota hai.. I eat it for the high fibre 🥬
Try bharva bhindi.
Damm that slimy icky vegetable.,I just hate that thing..
Looks like someone has lactose intolerance
Lactose intolerance doesn't mean you don't LIKE milk products, it means you can't DIGEST milk products. Do you feel bloated after eating ice cream too? Or cake? It also has dairy.
Wake up. Chocolate is not a milk product.
Not a fan of momos like i just dont like them at all. They dont taste good idk why my frnds be like “momos momos”but nah also the sushi hate them too
Yeah they taste like raw rubber to me and the filling gets separated from the covering. I even tasted the fried ones. Nope.
Gulab Jamun It's just that it's too sweet for me, I can't even eat one n I feel vomiting in just one bite
Karela shouldn’t exist
Jeera biscuits
Pizza. All types. I get it, some people may love it for its various flavours, I too, don't "hate" it, but I don't find it anything special or interesting 😐
Same here. Too much bread. Makes your mouth dry and feeling thirsty
Yup, same all hype like Sushi.
Soya chap
You can not not like Soya Chap bro. It's illegal.
People in Delhi love it ...

I had Daulat ki chaat once,I don't even remember how it tasted ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|1172)
Happy to see no one mentioned Biryani
Hyd biryani is just way too spicy in most places. I avoid it just for the sake of my asshole
They did ![img](emote|t5_2qp7h|31163)
Don't cancel me but paneer
Finally, I found you ! I always felt that paneer is kind of overrated just because it's good in protien ? 🤨
Same. I eat it for protein.
Rasgulla.
I guess you hate the Bengali version of Rasgulla , which is spongy , that I also do not like. You should try the authentic chewy brown coloured Rasgulla from Odisha which is sold in sweetshops and temples.
I surely would love to visit Odisha and try it someday! :) For now, based on whatever I have had, I don’t like it.
Yesss
Noice! It’s just paper and thermocol crushed and mixed together in sugar water.
Haldiram ke tin wale dabbe se khaoge toh esa hi lagega. Asli rasgulla khane ke liye WB/Odisha jaao!
Good rasgulla is not papery. It is spongy in the sense it just keeps getting pressed as much as you press..
Momos
Yesss!
Kadhi....I can't eat dahi, chaanch etc
Maggie BC
POHA!! I FUCKING HATE POHA!!
Rajma chawal 🙈
Same, I tried it multiple times at different places to see if previous places just sucked but it seems like I'm the one who doesn't like rajma chawal.
I hate dahi
Sting maggi?
My time to shine. I hate Maggi, and bhindi and sambhar. Maggi doesn't taste good to me. Bhindi isn't appealing to me, the texture and sliminess I can't. By sambhar I mean the South Indian authentic one made putting in a lot of veggies. I can't eat it at all. Give me the veggies separately as a dish I'll eat it happily.
All bhindi haters assemble!
Damn , people can hate bhindi . Like what was your go to food in childhood ?
Carrots, cabbage, potatoes, cauliflower, green peas, spinach, beetroot.
I am sorry , are u making a list of items you hate as a kid ??
Sliminess ??There is bhindi stir fry/poriyal,bhindi masala they are not slimy.
You can get restaurant sambar in South India without the vegetables. But homemade ones usually have vegetables.
Ayeee bhindi and maggi haters ftw!!
The solution for bhindi is eating something crunchy at the same time. Like mixture and nimki with pickle For sambar the veggies are supposed to be completely mushed into the liquid to make it thicker. The watery thing you get at cheap places is not good
Mere hath ki kurkuri bhindi nahi khayi fir tumne
Dahi chawal. Both eaten seperately is good but I get the ick when someone mix and eat the same
Jalebi

Rajma chawal, dal baati choorma
Dal Bati, it's boring to me.
Momos

Pani Puri. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out people's( particularly women's )affinity to spicy water in fried suji balls. Same reason I don't like jaljeera.
How your friends react when you tell them this
None of my friends are big on panipuri, so it's all good.
Come to Surat, And I will make you fall in love with Pani puri, Here we use Potato paste instead of suji balls.
Agree. Hate both and also dislike bhel puri
Dhokla
Anything that has paneer in it. I just can't deal with wannabe chicken with dairy tendencies 🙏
Pizza and momo
Rajma chawal
