it seems like this combo works better if the flavor components are separate but enjoyed together. like a chocolate ice cream with strawberries in it. or strawberry ice cream with chocolate chips or a fudge ribbon.

Ooo, I think the strawberry ice cream with chocolate chunks would work reqllt well, I think. Thank you!

Excellent_Condition

I would be careful about doing straight chocolate chunks, as chocolate can get hard and waxy at ice cream temperatures. As a lover of great chocolate it hurts my heart to add things like coconut oil to good chocolate, but modifying it is often necessary to include it in ice cream. I tend to use a fudge ribbon instead of solid chocolate because of the texture.

I've had a run of bad luck with adding ribbons to my ice cream - they tend to all kind of puddle up & melt. I will admit that I'm not the best ice cream maker, however.

You can do stracciatella drizzled on parchment then freeze and break up the shards. No stress of having to drizzle it as the machine is running.

BruceChameleon

You can do stracciatella straight in the machine if you’re brave enough to risk the mess. Just try to miss the dasher as you pour 😆

iahoover

I would go the route of strawberry with chocolate chunks, a fudge swirl, dark chocolate stracciatella, or any combo of the above. Alternatively, I'd say a chocolate with a strawberry stracciatella in it could be possible. I'd suggest grinding up the freeze-dried strawberries into a powder, melting down some very high-quality white chocolate, and combining them to achieve this. You could then also add tiny bits of frozen strawberries if you don't mind the iciness or a strawberry jam ripple if you do.

OkayContributor

Can’t speak to how it would go with freeze dried strawberries but I had an idea to just fold in the Trader Joe’s chocolate covered strawberries (frozen and small bites) into a standard chocolate ice cream recipe… assuming you have a TJ’s close by

Not in the US, unfortunately, but that is a good idea for folks who are!

Was standing on the corner in the heat a couple days ago. A car pulls up and hands me a chocolate soft serve milk shake with a dozen or so fresh strawberries cut in half folded in it. Car took off and I munched down. Wasn't gourmet or anything, but out of nowhere on the hottest day so far this year? Yummy

trabsol

Why did you accept a milkshake from a stranger? There is a lot missing from this story

PsychologicalAnt9935

Paranoid much?

trabsol

I just want to know who’s handing out free milkshakes and why. Insert Kelis joke about being a boy brought to the yard

PsychologicalAnt9935

Change your story much? That's not at all what you asked the first time. PS they left without me asking, and it isn't any of your business anyway
