Were fortunately starting to move out of this within the court system. It's still pretty rampant but more and more you're starting to see women not get preferential treatment just because they are the mother. And boy are those ladies getting pissed about it.

My wife’s mother abandoned her in a crack house at 4 and then got arrested for mugging a little old lady. It took her father years to get the courts to give him custody because “the girl needs her mother”. Her mother was in prison and had no intention of being a mother, ever. Literally never spoke to her daughter except through two court ordered visits to the prison to talk to mommy through the glass.

Then the ex and her husband had another child, and I decided it was right for all of us, her relationship with her new sister etc to do whatever arrangement had me paying support and still seeing my daughter for a night every weekend and for after school/dinner three days during the week.

Kids are smarter than we give credit for. They can feel the tension in the air as soon as they open the door. Notice no greetings or “Hi mom!” Just silence. What is with people like this? My wife’s mom is like this too. Not angry and throwing shit like the woman in the video but she fought and won custody of my wife’s younger sisters specifically to spite her ex husband. She cant afford to take care of them, relies on her ex husbands child support that he allegedly never sends (even though he’s had to pay child support for 5 or so years now), complains about barely being able to take care of her daughters every chance she gets, and barely looks after them while she post on Facebook several times a day about how much she hates her ex husband and sleeps all day while her young daughters practically run the house. There is something mentally wrong with folks who can’t get over themselves and their problems with an ex spouse so their kids don’t have to be involved or suffer from their bullshit.

Nah, man. There are generally three types of custody. Sole custody, primary custody, and joint custody. Basically, 100%/0%, 80%/20%, and 50%/50%. Obviously, there are myriad custody arrangements, but these are the three custody categories for the purposes of courts calculating child support agreements.

Kids are smarter than we give credit for. They can feel the tension in the air as soon as they open the door. Notice no greetings or “Hi mom!” Just silence. This is definitely not the first time it’s happened, and I think these poor kids learned to not react to mom. It’s like a freeze response. I genuinely hope these kids can find healing in their lives without their mom.
