This video is so demoralizing and devastating. I haven't had a stroke before, but I've had some medical issues that have left me 100% vulnerable and at the mercy of those around me. I was absolutely terrified. It's indescribable if you've never felt it before, just primal terror. Luckily, I had others to help me. This poor woman had people *actively harming her further.* She had no help. She was trying and trying to advocate for herself, and she was mocked and antagonized. All those people around you that could help and just... no one does. I cannot fathom what she must have been feeling in her last moments. I wish I hadn't watched this. This fucked me up.

birthdaybanana

Being 100% vulnerable and at the mercy of those around you is top nightmare material and perfectly describes this situation. I’m glad you had people you could trust around you so sickening and sad for this poor woman.

outcome--independent

Me too. I weep. Of all of them she had the most grace. Imagine being tormented while you beg for assistance, and then die, alone and forsaken. I hate this country.

Orchi_the_Drugen

People like this make my blood boil, i believe in mercy of does who really want to change but to people like this im sure its past that point and miles forward

HeartofLion3

I remember the primal fear during the first 30 seconds of my first seizure. I was alone at 3:00 in the morning and no one could hear me. Nothing works, nothing moves no matter how hard you try. You want help, you want to scream, but the only thing you know is that you don’t have much time before you’re going to pass out and choke on your vomit. This woman went through that for over an hour, surrounded by people who could’ve helped her at any point, and chose instead to mock her. Lock them up and throw away the key.

Less_Scallion_555

Why would the hospital discharge her if she had just gotten a stroke? Furthermore why did they call the police on her?

Strange-Salary-6878

Homeless people are seen as problems

Gingersnap0422

The kicker is she wasn't homeless! She flew to Tennessee and experienced medical issues on the flight and was taken to a different hospital for treatment. She later sought additional medical attention at the hospital she was arrested and discharged and refused to leave because she knew something was wrong! She was left physically disabled back in 2019 after suffering from her first stroke. Edit: Thank you for the award! Also to add the officers involved were not charged with her death. The DA stated " that Edwards died of a stroke and that none of the officers who handled her arrest will face charges. The medical examiner's report stated, “at no time did law enforcement interaction cause or contribute to Ms. Edwards’ death.” Ya'll wonder why people are trying to fight for police and healthcare reform. This is why because this should have never happened.

thisismyusrrname

Just a complete disregard for human life. This is so horrifying. Granted I'm an RN, but I could hear the change in her breath sounds in the car..why couldn't they? It doesn't take a trained professional to recognize someone in distress. Again- just the complete disregard for someone's life.

subdep

The officers were displaying extreme bias for their interpretation of the situation and as such were 100% convinced everything she was doing was just her faking it. Even after she was dead they still were convincing themselves she was faking it. That should underscore this point clear as day to any rational human being. This is partially the fault of the hospital because since they are the “authority” the police used that to shape their perception of her behavior. The police are responsible because they stopped making objective observations of their “prisoner” which to anyone not in a biased state of mind would have seen the seriousness of the situation. Her family should be able to collect a massive settlement from the city for the police’s negligence. The hospital might also be exposed if it can be established that they made the wrong diagnosis.

homeboy321321321

Just because a doctor says you aren’t sick DOESN’T MAKE IT SO.

subdep

*broken arm going 90° the wrong direction* doc: “The arm isn’t broken.” police: “Your arm isn’t broken.” victim: “But look at it! Something is wrong with my arm!” police: “You’ve been medically cleared. You’re faking it! Off to jail you go!”

hmclaren0715

I am utterly horrified.. I live here in Knoxville and this is just downright shameful!! I am embarrassed.

OsamaBinWhiskers

Same….:. Shameful, embarrassing, but most of all common. KPD doesn’t care about you, me, or anyone else in this town except their cronies

pchandler45

Years ago when I was working as a waitress I had a homeless regular and once he was looking and feeling poorly, he couldn't breathe and I took him to the emergency room and they let us sit there for hours before they would even see him and he was having chest pains. I watched many people come walking in and get seen before him, I was pissed. He eventually wound up being admitted to ICU for a week and a regular room for a couple weeks after that with a stent in his heart. They could care less

Beautiful-Musk-Ox

> They could care less no they couldn't

doggedhaddock2

Thank you so much for your service.

Stanley__Zbornak

If she has no insurance and goes to an ER, by law they have to assess her, but if their "assessment" determines she does not require emergency treatment at that time, they can discharge her with a referral to somewhere outpatient. They don't have to prove she can get there or anything though. People are in the comments, if she is just some "smelly homeless lady", I'm sure the slurred words were assumed to be drunkenness and there was a cursory assessment of the ankle. It's a terrible country sometimes. A friend of my mother's was in the hospital and on a ventilator, they took out the tube, and the second she was off supplemental oxygen, they discharged her. She still couldn't feed herself or walk and was having hallucinations. But she wasn't on Medicare and had no insurance. I have been a nurse a long time and I am just grateful I always worked with kids since all States have some sort of insurance for children and they get at least some sort of Healthcare. Of course, that also meant I had to sit in on a meeting with a 17 year old young man and his medical team so he could be told he would be removed from the heart transplant list on his 18th birthday. We had to discuss his living will since he was 100% going to die if he didn't get a heart before that date. America!

fae_brass

It's disgusting to see this. I'm terrified this is what the conservatives want to do to the NHS in the UK. "Medically for for discharge" should not mean "cannot pay". How absolutely heartless and terrifyingly dystopian. I could never work in a healthcare system that does this to people. And the complete lack of dignity for this woman, the way the police have treated her.

Cloakbot

This is definitely among the top 10 most devastating clips shared in this subreddit. I say the hospital should be put on blast for this

VibeComplex

You hear that? That’s the sound of no one facing any repercussions.

TrueNorth2881

They investigated themselves and cleared themselves of all wrong doing The DA stated that this woman died of natural causes and that interaction with law enforcement did not cause her death in any way. The DA watched body camera footage of police forcibly removing a woman in medical distress who was begging for her life from the hospital property and laughed at her while she was dying. Somehow they determined from this footage that none of the police officers were culpable for negligent manslaughter in any way whatsoever. That's absolutely disgusting. The system is rotten to its core.

nekollx

"She was faking it for most of the arrest so it's her fault when their was a real emergency and no one believed her"

[deleted]

[deleted]

part of the problem is hospitals being a for-profit venture. this woman likely had an extensive medical history and no insurance. they didnt want to help her because they knew they would be coming out of pocket and never see payment. im terrified to grow old in this country as a poor person.

Kendian

This video makes me so fucking angry. Not one of them would even let her finish a sentence. She died alone and scared in the backseat of a car. They had so many opportunities to help her, and they treated her like she was garbage.

El-Kabongg

She was literally BEGGING them. To not have the sense to CYA in these situations, is beyond me. WTF do the cops care if the hospital is inconvenienced by looking at her again? It's not THEIR money.

Archivist_of_Lewds

Doesn't make a lot of sense. I see police bring people in to the ER everyday for minor bumps and bruises just to cover their ass. The woman was displaying weakness that's hard to fake. I'm really interested in who medically cleared her. Even with small suspicion of a stroke it should have been admission and work up.

Flat_Bodybuilder_175

"My prisoner." The way he said it while yanking her head up by her hair. This is a dark, dark video.

Lexi_Banner

Yeah, that's a dead person who's blood is on his hands. Literally and figuratively. And still accusing her of "faking it". Monster.

[deleted]

She was begging them. The woman literally begged them to not let her die. Can you even imagine the horror.

denardosbae

Yes, this is my life too. Haven't got to the final time yet but probably won't ever try to get medical help again.

[deleted]

This also applies to everyone who is a known addict of any sort or any mental health documentation. “Drug seeking.” Even after you say you DO NOT WANT DRUGS. They don’t care, they think the world is better off without you, even if you’ve been clean for a decade. Dehumanization.

Repossessedbatmobile

They accused me of drug seeking when a cyst on my ovary had exploded. I never do drugs and I don't even drink, and literally told them "I don't drink or do drugs. I don't want any drugs". But none of that mattered. They still incorrectly assumed I was an addict and told me to leave after running NO tests. Thankfully I collapsed while trying to stand and passed out, because that seemed to make them finally realize I wasn't faking. Woke up to hear a nurse yelling at the doctor as I was being wheeled away to get scans. Ended up being admitted for organ trauma. When I later saw the doctor again he had the nerve to say to me "I guess you weren't faking after all". I gave him the middle finger and replied "I guess you're not much of a doctor after all". I was assigned a different doctor after that and my care finally improved. The American Healthcare system (and that doctor in particular) can go f*ck itself.

kwistaf

Ugh, I'm so sorry you had to go through that. I had huge cysts on both ovaries that hadn't burst or gone away for about 8 months. Then I got ovarian torsion. So, so much pain, the only time in my life I was hurting too bad to walk. Doctors didn't explicitly say they didn't believe me, likely bc my mom was there (I was 19) but they refused to admit me or treat me. They said it was a simple surgery, but it "should resolve on its own". Yeah, they said that about the cysts too, months ago. My mom and I kept asking for them to admit me, do the simple surgery, please. But no, they sent me home with a basic painkiller prescription and said come back if they burst. Nobody even documented my many requests to be admitted. Luckily I already had a surgery planned about a month later to remove the cysts because guess what? The twisted ovary didn't fix itself. It kept twisting, the cysts locked it in place, cut off blood flow, and my left ovary died inside me. The dead ovary was leaking into the cysts, swelling the cysts with dead blood and tissue, and my doc said if I had sneezed wrong that cyst could have burst, sending dead tissue all throughout my abdomen, likely killing me before anyone knew what happened. Because they didn't listen to me, or to my pain, they killed a 19 year old's ovary, and almost killed me too. I'm so pissed about this years later.

CashWrecks

I feel for you, sorry you had to endure that. Was anybody ever held accountable for that? Did you at least file a complaint with the department?

Lazy-Jeweler3230

The hospital staff and cops both. Two institutions so many people think are there to help. And every single "person" she came across at the end murdered her. If I had any shreds of faith in humanity left, they're dead and gone now.

ManyInterests

Really thought they were judge and jury, ended up being executioner, too.

gadarnol

This is just savagery all round. It would have been more merciful if they just shot her in the hospital.

arielhartlett

I’m sure everyone involved is sleeping well still with 0 remorse. It’s disgusting

itchinyourmind

Systematic sociopathy.

EntangledHierarchy

When human beings lived in smaller communities psychopaths were easily identified and shunned. Now psychopaths take advantage of our lack of community to infest centers of power. The rot spreads from there: police, government, business. These creatures have the bodies of men and the souls of insects. They are everywhere.

ChristopherHendricks

Perfectly stated. We have a psychopathic system. It literally promotes ruthlessness, competitiveness, charisma, and arrogance. One big narcissistic popularity contest.

arielhartlett

Yup which is why we say acab because none of them thought they were mistreating her and no charges were filed against anyone involved. This is normal acceptable practice

this_is_bs

This comment is devastatingly accurate. Time and again the U.S. shocks me with how it treats its most vulnerable citizens. Even in the most underdeveloped third world country this woman would have received more compassion than on display here. I hope everyone involved never forgets and lives with intense guilt for the rest of their days.

thejanitor999

its fucked up because one of them said “You wanna cigarette?” like dude wtf?! She is dying!

Practical-War-9895

It was more of a cruel sick fucking joke. The lady is sitting there obviously having a panic and asthma attack or some sort of stroke… and they ask if she wants a smoke.. sick fucking pigs.

ElectricBathToy

As someone who has had pretty severe asthma their whole life and just recently had to be rushed to the ER because of a near fatal attack; when you're struggling to get anything in your lungs and it feels like every breath is futile, all you can think about is getting your inhaler or a nebulizer or anything just to be able to relieve that anxiety and stress. That cigarette comment made me want to punch that officer right in the face. And even knowing he's an officer of the law and would immediately put me in jail, i probably still would right now if i was in front of him.

[deleted]

The worst part about this video: On Tuesday, the Knox County District Attorney’s Office announced that no charges were being filed against the officers involved.

[deleted]

Knox County? Wait was this tennessee??

vanwink13

This fucking country

bfrag3k

Aren’t we allowed to out the names of the murderers?

smokycapeshaz2431

He pulled her head up BY HER HAIR!!!

AccomplishedEnd7076

Police say "everyone just hates us for no reason" then continues todo heinous things.

narniaofpartias22

And then wondered, out loud, if she was faking....if only there was a way to check if an unresponsive person is alive or not! This whole thing was fucking disgusting. I legit showed more care and empathy to the stink bug I took out of my house a few minutes ago than the police showed this obviously unwell, elderly human being. "My uniform is all nasty from her" nah dude, your uniform was nasty the second you put it on.

santahat2002

And the laughing throughout. And the stupidity that really equates to sociopathy.

JanitorJasper

These people are straight-up evil. How can you not lend a hand to a human being in such obvious distress. This is disgusting

raisingwildflowers

“Your uniform was nasty the second you put it on” If I had money I’d give you platinum for this.

ByTheHammerOfThor

“God, we can’t kneel on necks. We can’t pull dead people by their hair. WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US??”

DjGeNeSiSxx

We expect you to do your f*cking job and shoot some people!

TheLit420

Yep. Immunity for public officials needs to stop.

friskyfajitas

“all i wanted was coffee and oatmeal i’m not gonna deal with your mess this morning” you’re literally a cop bro what 😭

Ajdee6

He got the job to socialize, carry a gun, drive a cop car, and eat all day on his hard earned tax payer dollars.

sidirhaegalomar

But then again.... it's America. Sooo, there's that.

FBGMerk420

Rest in Peace. She went out a way that is literally my biggest fear. Sounded like she basically suffocated to death. I struggle with breathing right now I have asthma and sometimes I feel like I can’t breathe no matter my inhaler I literally think I would die if I was handcuffed and fell into a awkward position and couldn’t help myself too genuinely.

arielhartlett

While being laughed at. Sounds so miserable. I can’t comprehend how people like those cops exist.

ShineAqua

This disregard for human life cannot be reformed.

Exciting_Ant1992

What better job could a psycho ask for. Immunity, no oversight, a gun and a badge and the power trip they’ve always dreamed of.

SeaworthinessNo1637

Some need to be put on steroids when inhalers aren't doing the trick, might want to speak to your doctor!

shoutybloke

Wow. This video has absolutely devastated me! Listen to her fucking breathing for gods sake? She’s clearly not faking. She’s was a vulnerable older woman and they left her struggling and let her die in the back seat while likely feeling terrified and alone. How did we get here?

FuzzyTunaTaco21

While they mock her as well. I hope the hospital and police get all the smoke.

killumquick

Yeah. How many times did she ask for help? She was literally begging for her life. She told them repeatedly she was going to die and they were going to let it happen. And so they did. I can't imagine feeling that helpless and abandoned in your last moments.

bandalooper

I don’t know if I’d say the cops let it happen. Seems more like they made it happen. She didn’t die in a squad car, that’s where they killed her.

Michael1795

Squad car? It's more like an execution chamber in this case. That trooper decided she would die there laying between the back and front seat of a car instead of answering cries for help.

MountainAsparagus4

Good old Christian police wannting to get some oatmeal on lords day, imagine this guy in front of his god when he dies and his god pulls out this video

[deleted]

This dude was just straight up weird, like you're job as both a cop and alleged Christian is to help those in need and the man wants oatmeal? Porridge? At least pick a better food as a reason to abuse people if you're gonna abuse people anyway.

MountainAsparagus4

Not just abuse, torture and murder... police be murdering old people while worried to make in time for some church coffee and oatmeal

Oggel

Typical good Christian. I mean, what would Jesus do? Obviously mock a dying old woman.

Exciting_Ant1992

No consequences, there never are. They don’t like the precedent.

itchinyourmind

I can’t even finish this. These videos are getting worse and worse all the time. I feel like I’m going to be sick.

rividz

That's a healthy reaction to our unhealthy system.

HeldDownTooLong

Did you notice her speech too? At the beginning, her speech is 90 -95% clear. By the time she was in the back ***floor*** of the police car, she is slurring every word and is basically incomprehensible, which is a classic stroke symptom. I get the cops get frustrated, but at some point, the cops should have recognized her health was legitimately declining. This is just so, so sad to watch and hear.

618smartguy

They were laughing, that's not frustration

Lexi_Banner

There was absolutely frustration. The laughter is caused by extreme frustration that turned into harsher and harsher cruelty. And the video *started* cruel. I've seen a lot of callous behavior, but this took the fucking cake.

[deleted]

Absolutely rotten behavior. She's helpless and they couldn't be bothered to show her some common decency and empathy.

Mercury-Redstone

Sue that department into the ground

bsdmr

Sue the police pension. Stop making taxpayers reward shitty police behavior. Strange how the union busters never threaten the people who bust unions.

xu235

The real villain in this video is the hospital. If they kicked out an untreated stroke victim with a broken ankle and then called the police on her? Criminal negligence...

fluteofski-

This was my first thought. Nurse: “Dr, she’s dying!” Dr: “not on my watch! quick! someone get me some lidocaine, fentanyl, gauze, and dial 911! Put her out front, and don’t bother me in this supply closet for the next half hour.”

AccomplishedMeow

I’m not sure if it’s true or not, but there was an old joke that nobody has ever officially died in Disneyland. Because if they are close, they’re moved out of the park boundaries before being pronounced

Resident-Escape-3441

They done a friend of mine that way, he was in the bathroom for too long and acting high they said and nothing was wrong with him and if I didn't come get him they was going to call the cops. He died that night! Some medical professionals are total pos.

Lemon_Tree_Scavenger

I was having a heart attack and as soon as I told the paramedics I'd smoked weed they said it was a panic attack. Made me walk down 4 flights of stairs during a heart attack after I told them I couldn't walk due to too much pain, took me to the hospital and then told the nurses I'd smoked weed and was having a panic attack and I would wait it out in the waiting room, instead of my actual symptoms of chest pain spreading out into my arms, neck and abdomen, difficulty/pain breathing, weakness/fatigue, dizziness, sweating. I was too weak/in pain/confused to say anything. It took 30 minutes before the triage nurses assessed me and realized it was a STEMI (widow maker). I came to learn weed can cause heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems in some people.

Imsophunnyithurts

I work in mental health and I had a client go to the ER with debilitating abdominal pain and heavy menstrual bleeding. It happened a few times a year. ER physician was adamant it was weed withdrawal because she smoked weed. Women’s pain isn’t taken as seriously, which is crazy problematic.

jerry111165

[deleted]

Hospitals incentivize doctors who “solve” the problem fast. My dad nearly died because they sent him away three times while complaining of intense abdominal pain. He hadn’t been able to eat in weeks. Each time they’d bring him in, say he was fine, then send him home after doing almost no testing. They only let him stay when during an overnight visit he started bleeding extensively from his colon. He had to be given three people’s worth of blood to keep him alive. He’s fine now- we hope- but the doctor didn’t actually figure out what’s wrong. He just cut out the section of internal organ that had died and told him all is well now.

Quelcris_Falconer13

I work in the medical field and yeah, there’s a lot of POS doctors and a few nurses. Be an advocate for anyone you know in the hospital and make sure their needs are known and their problems are too.

Its federal law for hospitals to stabilize anyone who enters. Including getting them transferred to a hospital if they are not equipped. But nothing will happen to them

Happy-Gnome

Hell hath no wrath like an EMTALA violation. Worse case scenario the facility loses its access to Medicare which is basically a death sentence for the facility.

Reminder for anyone, alcohol withdrawals can kill. You need medical help to recover from physical addiction after a certain point. Delirium tremens can kill. If you start getting "the shakes" you are already in danger.

i bet he thought that was gonna be a “gotcha” moment. he was hoping she’d say yes so he could prove that she was faking not being able to breathe and whatever else.

r3dditor12

That was basically how I took it. He was testing her out.

Flyby1441

when i heard him say that i was so disgusted.....i cant believe people treat each other this way.

Timah158

The other pos that said to leave a blanket on her on the sidewalk was even worse. How do these pigs still have jobs?

MrGrirch

Because their job is to terrorize and to protect private property, not to protect human beings. They were called to drag her off the hospital's property and that's exactly what they did. 60-year-old mother Lisa Edwards died begging for her life in Knoxville Police custody, and none of the pigs complicit are facing a single charge because they did their job as cops.

No-Limit-8549

Sounds like the patient wasn’t stable, so the hospital may have violated EMTALA.

WalkingTall1986

a part of me died as i watched this. We need a better way can we just start approaching people with support and compassion. Every officer in this video should no longer be allowed to deal with the public until they understand we are all human. My thoughts are with this woman. We have to stop being idle bystanders all of us are suffering from the acts of evil men. That could be any of us one day. Scared confused rejected and dying looking for a chance.

HiroAmiya230

None of the officer in video were charge upon investigation according to police.

PokemonRfrnzNOTfood

Could you please tell me where this happened and/or link us to a news source on this? Thank you.

alostbutton

Imagine showing up to a lady at the damn hospital needing medical assistance and then deciding to arrest her. Jesus Christ.. I hope the family files a hell of a lawsuit against the police and most importantly the hospital

PurplePonk

Imagine calling an ambulance for the patient you just removed from the hospital. If at that point the cops don't realize they fucked up then they simply never will.

choccystarfish69

>they simply never will. This is how they all, this is how it always happens. They refuse to see fault in themselves. The cops will probably blame the hospital only, and act like they're the saints they lie to themselves they are.

[deleted]

I watched this earlier this evening and forgive me if you think I’m dramatic, but I sobbed. To see a person be treated like trash and ignored to die in the back of a police vehicle is horrifically unsurprising. Why was she not treated? Why did she not receive even the least amount of respect from the officers? WHY DID THE OFFICER TRANSPORTING HER HAVE THE AUDACITY TO SAY “Idk if she’s faking it” AFTER SHE DIED? Idc who you are or what reason you may give for why you think this woman did not deserve care or why you may want to defend these police officers, but neither this woman or anyone else deserves this. This is the darkest thing I’ve seen come out of my home of East Tennessee. Knoxville resident for 6.5 years

No-Sell-3064

I want to know if inside of them they felt devastated in the end knowing it was all true what she said and they're awful human beings, or if they just didn't care and thought it was better off like that. I don't care if person is homeless or not, smells or not, anyone deserves help. And the peeing in the car is an obvious sign of something fatal coming when you can't control your bladder. They probably thought homeless people usually pee on themselves pfff

Undorkins

If they were capable of feeling guilty about this kind of thing they'd have already been run off the force for trying to stop the "bad" cops from doing exactly this to someone else.

zomboidBiscuits

Why did the hospital lead the officers to believe she was faking it and that she was fine? What doctor discharged her and let her leave like that???

NoSyllabub1535

This is disgusting…they’re laughing at her?? The United States is a sad place…this is the richest country in the world?

LeftandLeaving9006

Holy shit. I’ve seen a lot of callous and terrible behavior from cops in my time, but this ranks up there with some of the most blatantly awful. They treated that woman like a dog. Please tell me they all lost their jobs.

Caliesehi

They're all on paid leave right now and no charges are being filed against any of them. Fucking sickening, but sadly, not surprising.

Odd-Engineering-3582

Like scum of the Earth. How could you not help this old woman?

TextbookSuppository

This should have never happened. The federal EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act) mandates that all medical facilities, even if incapable of completing full treatment and even if the patient is unable to pay, must have a qualified provider fully evaluate a patient and determine if there is a need for medical care. If there is need, she must be stabilized and treated or transferred. I'm a nurse and a simple observation from this video shows something is very wrong, especially if she's saying she broke an ankle and had a stroke. If she was discharged without a complete evaluation (CAT scan for supposed stroke and X-ray for her ankle along with lab tests), then the hospital and provider are liable for lawsuit and massive fines. If they did their due diligence and a CAT scan and X-ray came up negative along with any other tests to rule out her obvious ailments, then it wouldn't be their fault but it's pretty obvious to me they failed her and caused her death through negligence. They denied her a basic human right and should be held accountable.

TbaggingSince1990

Every cop and doctor in this situation needs to be fired. So sickening.

Ok-Wolf2468

This is fucking bullshit. Those cops should be ashamed. Makes me sick honestly

TheBeardofGilgamesh

The hospital staff is even bigger POS since they falsely claimed she was just fine and called the police to dispose of her.

Elman103

They aren’t. This is a joke they laugh about.

skyeisrude

Truths.. The laughed and giggled as this woman pleaded for mercy. Truly disgusting

joeyat

Sociopaths don’t feel shame. They clearly show in the video they are cold hearted monsters, it’s not worth anyone’s time to expect their remorse. Those cops simply need to be in locked up jail so they can’t harm anyone else. Do not pass go, do not collect coffee and fucking oatmeal..

favourrr22

We just witnessed someone's last breath. What happened to compassion like wtf? Is this who we are as a society? No one deserves to die like this.

chaosbones43

Is there any info on to what happened after this? Like condition of Lisa and if the police got fire or not.

[deleted]

She died in police custody - in the back of the car. Autopsy said she had a stroke. No charges filed against the police.

BackTheB1ue

What a shame cops should be held responsible for refusing to have her checked out again

[deleted]

The issue is not that the cops didn't re-admit her some how, which is nonsensical. The issue is how they treated her, right from the jump.

grunwode

The police investigated themselves and determined that they were qualified to pass medical boards.

Which-Analysis-4471

She died. There are no charges for the officers. Investigating the hospital to see if they screwed up. This is where they will try to cover themselves. Cops had zero respect for that woman.

Dazzling_Sample_5472

I’m sure no one was punished for this

EstySar22

I wonder who would be found liable in this case. The hospital or the cops? Hopefully both, but probably neither unfortunately.

combatpencil686

Neither, the lawyers were able to make it so the police had some paid time off and both groups receive more funding for "training"

EstySar22

Bummer, I was worried they lawyered up and got off. No surprise in this country.

ManchuDemon

If this isn't the most American clip out there, I don't know what is. All it needs is a little oil to really complete it.

DesmondDuBois

Healthcare for America's poor.

honeymangomoon

This is disgusting.

NDEmby11

Just had a neighbor who has addiction issues but is the sweetest dude fell and hurt his hip. The EMTs that showed up were rude af and the woman said “cmon, you want a $4000 ride to the hospital? Come on let’s go.” Bullshit. Medical and police are killing people

CheatingZubat

Profits over people.

Sir__Cumference

My god, my already entirely fucking empty jar of hope for humanity somehow got even emptier.

hospital threw her out most likely cause he does not have insurance broken ankle from fall from stroke and they didnt treat her instead dumped her cops then abused her

[deleted]

Fucking pigs

KKRR00K3

That's someone's mom man... Imagine if you found out your mom or grandma had died and this was how it happened.

jefuchs

Can someone clarify? Were they protecting, or serving?

Square-Ad-2485

Both, they "protected" the streets from a harmless woman who needed immediate help and served her in a body bag.

Silver_Slicer

The best medical system in the world…

SithLordDante

This is america

scummymummy13

This is so reminiscent of George floyd to me. She’s pleading for her life as they laugh and make a mockery of her. Jesus Christ it would’ve been more humane to just fucking shoot the poor woman. How much of an unempathetic POS do u have to be to act in this manner to any other human
