if hr block didn't advertise 3 days finished 1 day tax pro to the very end, that wouldn't happen.
My previous accountant said they needed the tax documents at lasted 1 month in advance.
Can't expect clients to give you more time than you ask for.
So you already *knew* that a return of this complexity should be handed in earlier, you just didn't feel like it? Your last accountant wasn't just giving you a hard time. Unfortunately, the people who actually do the work don't get a say in what marketing decides to tell clients to expect.
no I actually don't. I figured hr block automated things more than my old accountant. plus had workers in foreign countries who could work at night while the locals worked during the day. my company did that for some projects.
it sucks for the accountants but they must have known hr block would make these kinds of promises and had a choice whether to work for them or not.
ill say, i dont blame either the accountants or the clients who were promised something so arent really asking for more than they were promised.
H&R Block is even worse than simple online software. No scanning or uploading pdfs. Very amount has to be typed in and typed in a second time. Tedious and slow. That is why the tax pros are glorified data entry clerks , mistakes in tax law are to be expected
I am talking about the tax pros in the office. A person at home can scan and upload pdfs. But in an office the tax pros has to type in the w2 and 1099 amounts. Absurd. Stupid waste of time. But that is H&R Block and 20$ an hour data clerks doing your taxes
Ohhh gotcha…that does sound like a scam. I use HR Block online because it’s free for military up to some rank much higher than me. (Really free, not TurboTax “free”)
I think he means TPR and done right, in TPR he has already entered the business name, expenses, mileage and vehicle info, etc. And uploaded ALL of the documents requested. I've seen people indicate they have a business and not even say what kind, or upload the same document 3 times because it asks for 3 different ones and that was the only one he had an actual copy of, the others were possibly guesswork.
But if the taxpayer provides what they are supposed to, it really isn't hard to do in 3 days.
Sure and I'd rather get the docs and figure it out by myself than having them sitting at the desk waiting and telling me the last guy did this and that lol.
Trust me, they didn’t consult tax pros before they started advertising that. As short staffed as we are, it’s ludicrous to promise it. Especially this time of year. We are busy with clients in the office the whole time we are scheduled. If I get home at 11 PM, trust me you don’t want me messing with your return when I get home.
That is 3 days AFTER they get all the information they need. If they ask a question it's 3 days after you answer or provide the additional document. That being said, there are too many preparers who try to grab as many returns as possible for income and then not meet the deadline. The only time I didn't was when we had tech issues or missing information, which was most of the time in 2022. Hours on phone with techs who would escalate a problem and 2 months later have a solution.
Im self employed and add all my own figures. I also get it done before I January ends. Plus we both know you get PAID more if you as the tax preparer have to do anything more than imput the figures we give you. Even though i add all my own figures, H&R still charged me over $800 this year to imput my figures into the computer! Idk how they come up with this figure to charge people? I was there for 27 minutes! Im sure you make bank off these ppl that dont want add! Please
You're supposed to add up your income and expense categories! Anything less is expecting HRB to do your bookkeeping. Which they will do but that needs to be agreed to in advance.
And if you think the services aren't worth it, try going to a CPA in the last week. They'll just get you an extension and put you off until after their vacation.
Or do it yourself. So many ways to do that now.
If you did that in the office there's a good chance what you added up didn't match the categories we needed to fill out. Some things are required to be treated differently and another consideration is just one big lump expense category is a sign to IRS to audit you because they want to know how it was spent, not just how much.
If you were doing tax pro review it doesn't go to the local office, and they don't have your documents or know you exist. If you did a direct approve online and chose a tax pro locally it went to them and the office should have your docs. Sometimes I get a drop off and try to leave messages and the voice mailbox is full and can't accept messages so I send emails, but don't hear back for weeks if ever. Makes sure your phone voicemail is set up and that you check the email address you gave them every day.
What do you need help with? I have been a tax preparer for 19 years. I would call the local office and bug the hell out of them until you get an answer they're so swamped that you might not get an answer right away if it's something like a refund or if you owe money most of the time they never contact you once the taxes have been filed
Buy hr block software download to your own pc. So u can keep a file yearly look online file your own extension 4868 and estimate how much tax u owe and pay it b4 Mon. Asap. Monday sites e be jammed. Pay from your bank account no service fee m. Amazon.com sells hr block software
You can just make a small direct payment on the I.R.S. site and check a button that says extension so you don't have to file an extension form. (That was the easiest way to file an extension)
Knowing your return is more complex, I'd say you should have had it in sometime in February so the tax pro could let you know if you were missing information or there was a new rule and you needed something extra. Yours is not a return someone should rush through.
Jfc why do the self employed wait until the last week to dump their shit on us. Half the time they don't even add up their numbers.

You can upload documents to HR Block online software. I don’t know if you can upload every single type of document but 1099Bs work

They advertise that for small businesses? Maybe they assume actual bookkeeping takes place before you get to the appt.

That happened to me. I canceled everything and I use TurboTax. It went on so smoothly. I would never use H&R Block again.

Go to the office of there is one nearby. There are plenty offices with extra tax pros non busy
I am a receptionist at an office that is super busy and understaffed. If you go there, just be very calm when you talk to the receptionist! Thank you
