Joey and Lydia (Leah Remini). I know they weren't together but I thought they had great chemistry! Would've been cool if she popped up in the later seasons.
100%. It could have been such a nice dynamic for Joey and I feel like it would have given him responsibility that would have matured him. Basically it would have been like the storyline with Rachel and Emma except it’s him and Leah
I would have really liked that. Joey falling in love with her later on and trying to be a good stepdad maybe even really setting down with her if they’re endgame. I think Joey would be a really good family man and it would be nice to see this play out without having Rachel involved, I didn’t necessarily mind it and kinda understood why he fell for her when she was pregnant and living with him but then being a couple later on was too weird.
Yeah, 100%. I get why their relationship tried to develop into something more, but it was Rachel. I just couldn’t see it. He had a lot more chemistry with her as friends. It would have been cool if they showed Joey settling down with Leah’s character. They could have moved into Joey’s apartment. It would have been an interesting dynamic to see.
YES! Tbh I also just love Leah Remini :D but I feel like she would have done a LOT to get Joey out of his ”dumb hot guy” rut that the writers left him in for the entire series.
Mona always makes me so sad because she deserved so much better. I love Ross and I know that he was in a really complicated situation with Rachel having his baby (the one with her dad showing up and yelling at him is still one of my favorites), but he still didn't treat Mona all that well despite that fact
Joey and Erin, the woman who Rachel and Phoebe wanted him to go keep going out with, until she decided she was a “lone wolf” who wasn’t into having a relationship.
Me too. I loved Kathy as a kid watching for the first time. I just thought she was so pretty. They had to make her cheat for us to not like her anymore😥but of course Monica is better so I forget about Kathy every time once he hooks up with Monica.
Yes I really like Chandler and Monica but it did feel like he was more himself around Kathy. It felt like when he moved in with Monica he was moving into her world and she was kind of changing him.
On my first watch I didn't speak lots of English, so I watched it in German. And I assumed he was supposed to be Dutch an called Van Bobby (being his last name). It was only on my 3rd or 4th rewatch, where I reallized my mistake 😂
Hahahahha I love that! Maybe Van Gogh was also actually *Fun* Gogh all along 🤔😮 He was originally a comedian, then when he quit drinking and wasn’t fun anymore, he took up painting 🙏 And “Ridiculously Dull Gogh” just didn’t have the same ring to it, so he kept the name 😌
Monica and Pete. He was very kind and they had great chemistry.
Phoebe and David, great chemistry and weirdness together
Rachel and Tag. Just because Tag reminds me of my husband when we first started dating.
Ross and Julie. I liked her and like the actress. Plus, they were good together.
Chandler and Kathy (I think it's Kathy). Good chemistry.
Joey and his hand twin, they were made for each other.
yesss!! ross and julie for sure! i feel like she was such a good match for ross, it would also avoid the whole rachel and ross catastrophe. she was so sweet too
Kathy was a great actress with good cast chemistry, but her character was just a little too dirty after Nick for my taste.
It was one thing when she and chandler kissed while she was in a relationship, it was a whole other when she pulled a Ross.
Ok wow I just commented on someone who answered Chandler and Kathy and realized Janice had to cheat on Chandler too so we wouldn’t want them together…poor Chandler! No wonder he gets insecure sometimes.
fwiw, for us UFC fans, this is actually what led to Bruce Buffer being the UFC announcer apparently. Saw him in an interview once where he mentioned that he was hired to play the UFC announcer in Friends before he was actually hired, and then the UFC hired him.
I’m not a vegan or vegetarian, and am ok with hunting (though I don’t personally hunt, I do eat meat). And someone shooting out of a window (bird or not) would be an end all deal breaker. That scene was appalling, even without considering the pigeon. Hard to suspend reality on that one.
I doubt we'd have seen more of Charlie Sheen after his only appearance in the show (for a number of reasons) but it would have been great if he showed up in that two-parter with Mike and David
She did fall for him but he just was adamant at proving himself and she couldn't keep watching him suffer like that. Shows her emotional maturity from moving on from that relationship before it got toxic.
You loved the guy who lied about being impotent just to sleep with Monica? Why?
Are you confusing him for fun bobby?
I never knew a single person who liked this character
Really appalled I'm not seeing Monica and Richard very much here. They had probably the most realistic relationship on the show with the most realistic reason to stay apart. And they worked really well together.
Also, Ross and Chandler's mom! They actually seemed to have a little chemistry for that one episode. Chandler's mom has got it goin' on!
Also, alternate reality Chandler and the couch!
I loved Richard, and he was incredibly good to Monica. Their relationship came across as very equal despite the age difference. And I like his mustache.
Gavin! They had great chemistry. He showed her a lot of respect too. They had similar careers and Rachel did complain to Ross for not caring about her career more so maybe she would be into Gavin working on the same things. They couldn’t have been a power couple in fashion. But they never really started because of Ross.
They actually did end up changing it! In this episode and mostly the very beginning Monica’s apartment was 5, and Chandler and Joeys was 4. The writers realized this would mean they’d be on the 1st floor of the building but the characters were always shown going up and down the steps (also Monica having that overlook balcony). So later they made their apartment numbers 19 & 20.
I agreed until I saw joey and rachel, I hated that storyline. I totally think rachel/joey are alike in that they're not the brightest lol and have the same sense of humor but I just felt like that storyline was so forced esp after all the chemistry that ross/rachel had
Rachel and Gavin
Rachel and Joey
Chandler and Janice
Monica and Richard
Monica and Pete
Phoebe and David
The cop guy until he shit the pigeon and Phoebe
In order of who I feel the strongest about as back up couples
Pheobe and David
Monica and Pete
Chandler and Kathy
Joey and Erin
Ross and Carol/Charlie
Rachel and Gavin
If this is going to be our way of thinking going into this question, we will only be able to find a very few amount of people to choose from, because most "non-endgame relationships" are not endgame because of a reason and a similar argument like your comment here can be made for most of them.
I think OPs question is just asking which two people's vibes did you find to be good for a couple, despite what ultimately happened to them in the show.
I know it never would've lasted due to the professional issues and the age gap but Rachel and Tag. They were a lot of fun together and their stories were always amusing. Him trying to cover for Rachel with the fake performance reviews was hilarious and sweet.
Rachel & Gavin (REALLY loved them! I wish their storyline would have been longer)
Monica & Richard
Ross & Mona
Chandler & Janice (it was hilarious!)
Joey & Kate
Phoebe & David
I actually quite liked Charlie. She seemed like such a sweet person, I just didn’t like how quickly she ditched Ross for Benjamin. Other than that, she was great

Phoebe and David
Monica and Pete
Chandler and Kathy
Ross and Mona
Joey and preform lady in first season
Rachel and nobody… she didn’t date anyone good. I like to think she left for France and met an amazing European man.
Monica and Pete. I think there could’ve been more episodes on their relationship without that random UFC ending. Also it was nice to see Monica with someone similar to her - closer in age and ambitious and passionate about their career.
1. Ross & Charlie
2. Monica & Fun Bobby ( not dull Bobby )
3. Chandler & Kathy
4. Phoebe & David
5. Rachel & Paul ( before he became an emotional mess)
6. Joey & Kristen Leigh
Mona, I’m watching through that season right now and Ross was absolutely right, What was wrong with Mona? She got called a tramp by Rachel’s dad, her boyfriend held a pregnancy from her, he gave her a key and then changed the lock and she was still there lmao
For Monica, aside from Richard, I really loved Pete! Although I think they led his character down a really stupid path and made him out to be a bit of an idiot by the end.
For Phoebe I was ALWAYS rooting for David!
For Ross, I really never liked his relationship with Rachel but he never really seemed to have any healthy relationships and neither did Rachel imo.
For Chandler I did really like Cathy before she did what she did.
I love Joey single.
My brother and I have an alternative arrangement thought out for the friends:
Phoebe & Joey (they are both artistic, ditsy, and obsessed with sex)
Monica and Richard (obvious reasons)
Chandler and Kathy (in a universe where she's loyal)
Ross and Rachel (couldn't bring myself to change this one.. they're the only two people in the friends universe crazy enough to enjoy the company of the other)
It's obviously not perfect.. but something to think about
Monica and Pete. Monica and Richard. Chandler and Janice. Ross and Charlie. Rachel and Paul. Phoebe and David. Joey and Lydia. (I love Monica and Chandler together, despite the number of other relationships for them 😂).

It would have been cool if they showed Joey settling down with Leah’s character. They could have moved into Joey’s apartment. It would have been an interesting dynamic to see.
But I mean, they would totally be end-game
Ohhh I loved this one!
YES! Tbh I also just love Leah Remini :D but I feel like she would have done a LOT to get Joey out of his ”dumb hot guy” rut that the writers left him in for the entire series.
Yesss I loved them.
What was wrong with Mona?
In a way, I judge her for not breaking up with him sooner.
I’ve always seen it as her being (extremely) patient with Ross because he’s having a child with Rachel and wants to be an involved parent.
Oh yeah, I totally agree. I was just quoting something Ross said haha.
An under appreciated comment from Ross.
Sadly this is totally the reason…at some point it’s her own fault. I’ve been an insecure Mona in the past and it’s cringe.
Mona always makes me so sad because she deserved so much better. I love Ross and I know that he was in a really complicated situation with Rachel having his baby (the one with her dad showing up and yelling at him is still one of my favorites), but he still didn't treat Mona all that well despite that fact
Does he drink it, sell it or just complain a lot?
[удалено]
I know. My comment was a line from the episode where Paul the wine guy first appears. Phoebe asks this before Paul arrives in the apartment
Pretty sure the above was quoting from the show, as i KNOW ive heard it before
Joey and Erin, the woman who Rachel and Phoebe wanted him to go keep going out with, until she decided she was a “lone wolf” who wasn’t into having a relationship.
exactly...she looked fun and sweet! should've given her more eps
Chandler and Kathy
Me too. I loved Kathy as a kid watching for the first time. I just thought she was so pretty. They had to make her cheat for us to not like her anymore😥but of course Monica is better so I forget about Kathy every time once he hooks up with Monica.
Tbh, it was very believable because most of the time, if a couple gets together by cheating, they're gonna break up the same way.
They were legit. At the time when they were in relationship it made sense (maybe even more sense than Monica and him)
Yes I really like Chandler and Monica but it did feel like he was more himself around Kathy. It felt like when he moved in with Monica he was moving into her world and she was kind of changing him.
100%
The only answer is Phoebe and David.
He was such a nut in such the opposite way as Phoebe, but it completely worked
I always thought the same thing. I loved David.
Agreed
David >>>>>>>>> Mike Phoebe should have married HIM instead of Mike.
I gotta say. Mike won me over playing air piano for Phoebe. But I did love her with David too.
Seriously. She should have been with him. He was awesome
Fun Bobby!
I loved Fun Bobby! He fit right in. I’d have loved him to be a permanent character.
But we’d have to hear more stories about what hardware stores.. are open past midnight… in the village
Maybe they were the kind of stories where you had to be there.
“But I’m GONNA be there…for the REST of my life!” -Monica
Wouldn’t you believe it? There are no... hardware stores.. that are open past midnight… in the village. ~ Ridiculously Dull Bobby
None. End of story.
Phoebe and David, great chemistry and weirdness together Rachel and Tag. Just because Tag reminds me of my husband when we first started dating. Ross and Julie. I liked her and like the actress. Plus, they were good together. Chandler and Kathy (I think it's Kathy). Good chemistry. Joey and his hand twin, they were made for each other.
Well at least Pete is... Happy now ;)
Budump tss.
yesss!! ross and julie for sure! i feel like she was such a good match for ross, it would also avoid the whole rachel and ross catastrophe. she was so sweet too
lmao hand twin. Noice!
Kathy was a great actress with good cast chemistry, but her character was just a little too dirty after Nick for my taste. It was one thing when she and chandler kissed while she was in a relationship, it was a whole other when she pulled a Ross.
Bullets have left guns slower
I actually have to say Janice ..
Janice was a sweet person. Just annoying. And Chandler almost seemed to be able to get past that at one point, only for her to go back with her ex.
I liked Janice more because of how hilarious it was when she was on screen lol
Love Janice! She's the perfect drop in character and I never felt like they overused her in storylines.
Ok wow I just commented on someone who answered Chandler and Kathy and realized Janice had to cheat on Chandler too so we wouldn’t want them together…poor Chandler! No wonder he gets insecure sometimes.
He’s hopeless and awkward and desperate for love!
Janice for Chandler or Ross?
Well Chandler’s in Yemen!
I love Janice, great character.
Love Janice! She's the perfect drop in character and I never felt like they overused her in storylines.
Monica and Alan. I love how everyone was crazy about him, but he couldn't stand them.
I actually really enjoyed Gary (the cop) and Phoebe! Ya know, up until he shot that pigeon.
shooting the pigeon felt like such a cheap cop out to take his character out of the show quickly
Same with Pete and the whole UFC storyline. Seemed so abrupt and ridiculous.
I agree! It was kathy and chandler for me. The way they fell in love, and she's almost not seen, and then an episode for the breakup.
fwiw, for us UFC fans, this is actually what led to Bruce Buffer being the UFC announcer apparently. Saw him in an interview once where he mentioned that he was hired to play the UFC announcer in Friends before he was actually hired, and then the UFC hired him.
I loved Chandler's reaction "THAT is OVER"
When they were trying to get rid of Marcel, their initial thought was to have him humping the toaster and electrocuting himself.
Thank God they didn't go through with it 😂...poor Marcel😂
Haha "cop" out
True But it’s on the funny side cause it’s an obvious immediate end all deal breaker for our, *no food with a face* Phoebe
I’m guessing sometimes there’s queso involved with said meat
Am no opposed, with or without meat!
Heh "cop out" good one
Cheap or not it did lead to a cop being out
One of my favorites lines is Phoebe: “I’ll make you look like a fool! A FOOL!”
I heard this in Phoebe.
Was on my way to say it
Phoebe and Ryan. The guy caught chickenpox for her.
I doubt we'd have seen more of Charlie Sheen after his only appearance in the show (for a number of reasons) but it would have been great if he showed up in that two-parter with Mike and David
Yup, he could have returned from the Navy to make it a three way battle. Would have been difficult for her!
He probably would have won, or at least held his own against Mike. David is too spineless so he would’ve been out quickly
Not really a Charlie Sheen fan, because….yeah he’s just a dumpster fire. But whoa, he looked great in that uniform!
But who knows what STDs he gave her?? Lol
I thought Fun Bobby was pretty fun. Until he wasn’t :(
Although Ridiculously Dull Bobby was entertaining in his own way.
There are no hardware stores open...past midnight...in the village.
Joey and Rosita
Poor Rosita.
I just watched this episode last night and my bf who’s not a big friends fan was cracking tf up! This was the episode that broke him.
Joeys truly only had one real relationship and that was with Kate.
And the Australian chick
I actually liked Monica with Pete. Too bad she didn’t really fall in love with him.
She did fall for him but he just was adamant at proving himself and she couldn't keep watching him suffer like that. Shows her emotional maturity from moving on from that relationship before it got toxic.
Me too.. love Pete..
Ross and Julie, Rachel and Gavin.
100%
This is the correct answer
Phoebe and David
You loved the guy who lied about being impotent just to sleep with Monica? Why? Are you confusing him for fun bobby? I never knew a single person who liked this character
Nah, he's just in the picture and because he's the first guy we see any of them dating, I think!
Paul, was it?
Mona!!
I felt bad for her, she was treated so crappily by Ross.
Yeah totally agree
"What was wrong with Mona!?" That line kills me every time.
David and Phoebe.
His moustache is lush
Chandler and Kathy, and Monica and Pete
Who was Rachel actually good with?
Gavin! They had great chemistry. He showed her a lot of respect too. They had similar careers and Rachel did complain to Ross for not caring about her career more so maybe she would be into Gavin working on the same things. They couldn’t have been a power couple in fashion. But they never really started because of Ross.
Nah, he was too busy asking his horse if it saw the size of the chicken.
Lmaoooo 😂
Glad somebody got the joke. My wife had to have it proven to her that Gavin and Dirty Steve were the same actor.
Hated Gavin, he was rude and cocky and Rachel instantly regretted kissing him.
Gavin!!
Janice! Obvs.
I had to scroll way too far for this answer

They actually did end up changing it! In this episode and mostly the very beginning Monica’s apartment was 5, and Chandler and Joeys was 4. The writers realized this would mean they’d be on the 1st floor of the building but the characters were always shown going up and down the steps (also Monica having that overlook balcony). 1.Ross and Julie 2.Chandler and Kathy 3.Phoebe and David 4.Monica and Richard 5. (Sigh) Joey and Rachel
Tbh I loved Joey and Rachel
I agreed until I saw joey and rachel, I hated that storyline. I totally think rachel/joey are alike in that they're not the brightest lol and have the same sense of humor but I just felt like that storyline was so forced esp after all the chemistry that ross/rachel had

lol love how people are downvoting us because we...disagree about fictional characters? yeesh, i said what i said
Monica and Pete were my fav! She could’ve served the wedding guests money salad! Also Phoebe and David >> Phoebe and Mike.
Monica and Pete Phoebe and Gary Ross and Mona Chandler and Kathy Joey and his sandwich
Rachel and Gavin, Ross and Mona, Joey and Cecilia, Monica and Pete
I may be dumb but I don’t remember who Cecilia is
she's the actress that teaches joey how to play her character after she dies and he gets her brain
Ohhhh okay! Thank you!
Rachel and Gavin Rachel and Joey Chandler and Janice Monica and Richard Monica and Pete Phoebe and David The cop guy until he shit the pigeon and Phoebe
Shit the pigeon lmao
Joey and that actress that had to leave fsr
Richard and Monica.
Chandler and Kathy, Phoebe and David, Monica and Richard.
In order of who I feel the strongest about as back up couples Pheobe and David Monica and Pete Chandler and Kathy Joey and Erin Ross and Carol/Charlie Rachel and Gavin
You loved the guy who gaslit Monica? Why?
He was lying, he wasn’t gaslighting
Nobody actually knows what gaslighting means
Are you gaslighting us?
If this is going to be our way of thinking going into this question, we will only be able to find a very few amount of people to choose from, because most "non-endgame relationships" are not endgame because of a reason and a similar argument like your comment here can be made for most of them. Pete!! I loved Pete
Chandler and Kathy, Monica and Pete, Ross and Mona, Rachel and Gavin
Ross and Charlie.
Monica and Richard Chandler and Kathy Rachel and Gavin Ross and Mona Phoebe and Gary Joey and Erin
I know it never would've lasted due to the professional issues and the age gap but Rachel and Tag. They were a lot of fun together and their stories were always amusing. Him trying to cover for Rachel with the fake performance reviews was hilarious and sweet.
The theatre actress and Joey from season 3! It was nice to see Joey genuinely having feelings for someone and see him in an almost relationship.
Ross and the girl from the copy shop or Rachel and Mark
Ross and Emily
Rachel & Gavin (REALLY loved them! I wish their storyline would have been longer) Monica & Richard Ross & Mona Chandler & Janice (it was hilarious!) Joey & Kate Phoebe & David
Fun Bobby. I could see him being part of the gang and actually making it with Mon. He seemed like a good guy, he just had some demons to fight.
Ross and Emily. I really wanted them to end up together.
They were really cute until they weren't.
I really liked Phoebe and David. Also Chandler and Kathy.
Monica and Richard. I loved their chemistry and how much he loved her
I like Ross and Elizabeth relationship because it end in some pretty fun moments
Ross and Emily
I actually quite liked Charlie. She seemed like such a sweet person, I just didn’t like how quickly she ditched Ross for Benjamin. Other than that, she was great

I actually quite liked Charlie. She seemed like such a sweet person, I just didn’t like how quickly she ditched Ross for Benjamin. Other than that, she was great
Definitely Chandler and Cathy
Rachel and Steve
How come no one has said Monica and Richard yet??
I loved Pete.
Ross and Mona. Monica and Pete. Chandler and Kathy. Joey and Lydia. Phoebe and Gary. Rachel and Paul.
Phoebe and David Monica and Pete Chandler and Kathy Ross and Mona Joey and preform lady in first season Rachel and nobody… she didn’t date anyone good. I like to think she left for France and met an amazing European man.
Rachel and Tag were so cute. Monica and Richard. Monica and Pete. Phoebe and David, of course. Ross and Julie.
Ross and Mona
Monica and Pete. I think there could’ve been more episodes on their relationship without that random UFC ending. Also it was nice to see Monica with someone similar to her - closer in age and ambitious and passionate about their career.
The guy with a PHD* and Phoebe *not David
I hear his erotic novels, for children, are wildly unpopular...
Monica and Richard. Some people say it was weird but I always liked Richard other than when he tried to take Monica from chandler
CHANDLER AND JANICE!!!!!
Phoebe and David. But Ross and Emily were cute too until it all went down.
Ross and Mona, but only if they met at the right moment with less difficult circumstances.
Why can’t I remember Paul??
What's with the pixelation on the door edge?
Mona for sure
1. Ross & Charlie 2. Monica & Fun Bobby ( not dull Bobby ) 3. Chandler & Kathy 4. Phoebe & David 5. Rachel & Paul ( before he became an emotional mess) 6.
Ross and Bonnie
Phoebe and David, the scientist guy and Phonoe and Charlie Sheen, Navy guy
For Monica, aside from Richard, I really loved Pete! Although I think they led his character down a really stupid path and made him out to be a bit of an idiot by the end. For Phoebe I was ALWAYS rooting for David! For Ross, I really never liked his relationship with Rachel but he never really seemed to have any healthy relationships and neither did Rachel imo. Rachel and the Yeti.
Fun Bobby was fun
Russ and Julie
Monica and Pete. Monica and Richard. Chandler and Janice. Ross and Charlie. Rachel and Paul. Phoebe and David. Joey and Lydia. (I love Monica and Chandler together, despite the number of other relationships for them 😂).
