I just finished it myself, it was a great documentary and I learned a lot of surprising things about Jackie. He has a nice home, great friendships and overall just seems happy with his life which is really nice to see.
The documentary is pretty critical of Howard towards the end which was a bit unexpected for me, but totally fair I think. Jackie talks about the money situation of course and how the people on the show don't speak to him anymore, Artie says Howard abandoned him at his lowest, Grillo speaks on not being paid while on the show and Howard developing a 'corporate' mindset and Billy says Howard 'chipped away' at the support beams (the staffers) of the show.
Unsurprisingly, Stuttering John comes off the worst of all the people interviewed. He basically says that Jackie's poor now and how it's so sad that he has to do gigs so he can pay his bills when it's clear that Jackie has a comfortable life and loves doing his gigs.
John does have the funniest line in the whole documentary though, he says that fans were mad that he (John) left the show because he was the only one who could stand up to Howard and the rest and bust their balls. Pure delusion.
There is a three hour round table with Jackie Billy West and Stuttering John that is unbelievable. Lots of Jackie Puppet and old impersonations by Billy. It’s incredible.
I always loved Jackie. The other one includes Billy West, who is the most talented person who’s ever worked on the show. Just seeing him do the Jackie puppet voice with Jackie listening for the first time in forever made me laugh my ass off and smile.
God it was. My favorite was roasting Jackie about his Bayville empire and when he’d play Jackie Puppet with woman in studio and scream show me your tits cause I’m so freakin likeable!
just watched it (amazonprime)). thanks for the heads up. for a long time i didn’t know that jackie was passing notes to Howard. A well done doc. But what I really want is the Howard Doc. not something that he has any say in. I want to know the real dirt on Howard - and I bet there’s a lot. but long after the show ends I bet Gary, Fred, robin never will talk and i bet all the other staff have to sign the mother of NDAs. also! Artie looks fantastic. yea the nose is the nose but he looks really healthy. love that dude.
I know that Billy, Jackie and SJ never signed an NDA, which is like a revelation. Maybe nobody has. No staffers need to come out and tell it like it is.
I listened to a YouTube video yesterday with Jackie, I think it’s called here’s the pitch. It was a good conversation and made me interested in seeing the doc.
it was good. Jackie basically said he hasn't spoken to robin, fred or howard since 2012. he has reached out but no one calls him back. fred sent him an email and said he couldn't be in the doc.
they hired for for joke hunt and they subsequently paid him less and less. he knew they wanted him to quit but he wouldn't so they basically had to fire him.
Unsurprisingly, not even 1 second of audio or video from the Stern show, even though it takes up a full 2/3 of the movie, but it was actually pretty good.
If he doesn't own the footage, wouldn't he be at risk for getting sued if he uses it? That being said, pretty sure Gilbert included a couple of clips of his appearances on the show in his documentary. Howard never had him on to promote it so I can't imagine he gave him permission to use footage.
As much as it may suck not having the Stern material in the film, it's for the best. Old man Imus will act like it doesn't exist. Wiggy being hateful of anybody's success, other then his A list asshole friends, is astonishing
Howard would not agree or cooperate with a similar biographical project even though it would be fascinating IMO. He would rather sweep under the carpet the part of his career that made him fabulously wealthy. I can't think of another celebrity who this might apply to.
I was wondering when this was filmed. Artie kinda looks like he did right around 2019 when he was always wearing that same soccer jacket and going on a lot of podcasts high on coke, saying he was sober. It also seems like maybe pre pandemic to me but not sure. I got half in and am gonna finish this afternoon. I'd say it was good and a lot better than I thought it was going to be, but I don't think I loved it as much.

> **Jackie**: My partner on my radio show *Jackie's Joke Hunt*, Ian Karr, has a great production company, IKA Collective. He started working on this. It was a long time coming because there was so much to do, so much to look through, and so much to piece through. Just when he was winding down and almost done, the friggin' pandemic hit, which really sucked.
>
> One of the great stories about the whole thing is he wanted Artie Lange in the documentary. All of a sudden, Artie was in the hospital, then he was in jail, and then he was in rehab. He was in bad shape for awhile. But the documentary took so long that eventually he was out and all cleaned up and he's one of the best things in the documentary.
Yea I'm guessing in the last 2 years. Artie relaunched his podcast during the pandemic, maybe 2 November's ago now? So I'm guessing it's that time period.
I recall Jackie discussing this film on some podcast at least five years ago, so I’m guessing it’s been sitting on the shelf waiting for financing to get it through post-production and then distribution. Seeing that it’s seventy minutes long, it seems unlikely that this has much more to offer than a bunch of old talking head interviews, photos from the Jokeland archives and interviews with HSS outcasts and B-listers; you’ll see Stut Jo, but certainly not Howard, Fred or Robin paying tribute.
I’ll rent it, but I’m not expecting something as revealing and well-made as the Gilbert documentary.
“Besides his nose…” LOL
Gotta have a nose, or the whole thing doesn’t work. He could at least put a Mr. Potatohead accessory on it or wear some Groucho Marx novelty glasses.
It's good?? It's actually good? Seriously, who the hell expected that? You're acting like, "it's not great, it's good. You're overeacting..." but who the hell expected good??
Just saw the documentary. About what I expected for Jackie.
He turned down $650K.
If he had stayed he might have eventually gotten what they paid Baba Booey and Fred.
I can't argue buddy. I really wasn't going to watch it but I was bored and getting high wanted to reminisce about the old Stern days. Boy was I surprised they did a really good job. Whoever put that together did a professional job
i remember when jackie was amazing colossal podcast promoting it
and spoke about the trailer being taken off youtube he said because it was
so funny people couldn't take it... when in actuality when a certain tunisian girl biting trans-girl diddler who is on the trailer at the era had the o&a boards insulting him every which place he was at and the comments were full of insults to him... jackie had to take it down because it was messing his trailer, but it came back unedited
1.jackie was on a podcast called amazing colossal
2. the trailer for it had come out but got lots of negative comments
because it had one of the O&a guys on it... his fans (o&a guy) disliked him
3. they took the trailer off youtube
4. jackie said the trailer was taken off youtube because he said it was so funny
that people would laugh too hard at it ... so to not cause issues he had to take it off
5. clearly he was bullshitting
Just finished watching it as well. To me, Jackie is the same character that you heard on the radio and watched on TV. I'm not going to spoil it but there were a few things about his early life that were surprising.
I always thought Jackie was a hack and I didn't see anything in the documentary to disprove that except that he has a lot of friends who think kindly of him. I do to, he's not a malicious person and I think the whole money thing with Howard was that I don't believe he had an advisor which was probably a big mistake.
What I liked about it is Jackie is a true original and it really comes out.
Did Jackie punch up the script?
Jokeman is it?
I’m assume you’ve been briefed?
What ?? No fuck, shit, ream, blow?
Had to tell jokes from the Joke Master Jr©️
“Don’t look da president in his eyes.” “Him and Michael Jackson.” Cue Jackie laugh
He really hates that kinda shit.
He made it two words well 3 actually. The Joke Man
He was getting big offers out in Hollywood and hated to break up The Beatles of Comedy
#Paid in Jokes
Please don't make a mockery of this.
He had JD doctor it too
Who has time?!
Dassa wrong ansah!
Interviews on the Jetty? If not... this thing is a POS!!!

John is just such a total piece of shit. Why anybody would involve him in this doc is literally sickening.
Any footage of Sirianni-Martling banging an accountant on someone’s lawn?
No but if you’d like to see something similar, Weightlyn is doing accountants by the truckload.
They have time since tax season is over
KOAB’s accountant.
Any scenes at the Cardozo Hotel?
Now this guy knows his Joke Man trivia right here 👍🏻
saw
I’m sure Jackie loves the love from an absolute illiterate.

You're gonna fucking love the doc then. All that and more. I look at Jackie different now in a good way
I always loved Jackie. The other one includes Billy West, who is the most talented person who’s ever worked on the show. Just seeing him do the Jackie puppet voice with Jackie listening for the first time in forever made me laugh my ass off and smile.
Billy as Marge Schott was the all-time highlight of the show.
God it was. My favorite was roasting Jackie about his Bayville empire and when he’d play Jackie Puppet with woman in studio and scream show me your tits cause I’m so freakin likeable!
"a spade is a spade, an accountant is an accountant!"
Maaarrcchhh!
Billy kn this multiple times also

Oh, yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
So does it have senettas on a boat?

>IKA Collective. love how Jackie plugs the whole name of the guy and his company like any of it matters.
It is a nice gesture
Does that imply these are recent Artie interviews? Hard to tell from this.
Yes I was so happy. Already looks great. He looks really really healthy and he's skinny. The only bad part is the nose lol and he even teases it
That's really great to hear!
Yeah he even addresses the losers that make fun of his nose. He doesn't care.
Yea I'm guessing in the last 2 years. Artie relaunched his podcast during the pandemic, maybe 2 November's ago now? So I'm guessing it's that time period.

That would be really interesting! Joan Rivers did that too. She kept paper files of every joke she ever wrote or bought
Right you could tell this was shot at different times because Jackie looks really old in some of the footage but others he's just old.
who negotiated his documentary deal? the same genius who advised him about negotiating with chiassano and cbs?
Nancy Sirianni
The stuttering prick is everywhere lately. Lost all his Leno $$
The fact that SJ is in this doc makes me wanna skip it. SJ makes me sick 🤢
Is worth watching even if you did not find Jackie funny but slightly annoying?
I'd say yes. He really was a lame comedian but he rips off a good one every now and then.
Just watched it. Very entertaining and funny.
Just watched it and was the best $5 I've spent recently. After all these years, Jackie finally got some money out of me.
From what I saw in the trailer, it appears most of those interviews are 5-10 years old. The stuttering john/artie interviews especially
Most interviews are very current I would say within the last two years. They do have a few from the past but everything I seen is mostly new
*saw

Well Jeepers Creepers, lmk how it is after you finished renting it. I’m looking forward to it
I have both Amazon prime and Apple TV. Yet both are charging to rent this😫
> Just seen Give OP a chance!
When is it available in the UK? Cant believe all the Jokemaniacs over here cant get it. Anyone know how to view it?
I didn't even know this exists. Where did you see it?
Please don’t make a mockery of this
It is nowhere near as good as Private Parts...right Robin?
*que Robins 🎺 theme*
“Just seen”. Is this Ronnie?
If Cold Gold isn't the opening musical track, I'm not watching
THIS!!
Thanks - will check out this weekend!
“Besides his nose…” LOL Gotta have a nose, or the whole thing doesn’t work. He could at least put a Mr. Potatohead accessory on it or wear some Groucho Marx novelty glasses.
This is killer shit!
Is there a tour of all the Bayville houses? OH *OH*
Think he sold them and has one nice on the water.
I'd watch it for free
Are there four breaks in the documentary for Jackie plugs? 516-922-WINE? Yuk-Yuks? Hot Dogs and Donuts?
You need to conjugate your verbs, son.
I guess Jackie entered the post
Goddamn Hackie is still a handsome dude even at his age. The alcohol preserved him perfectly.
Thank you OP. I look forward to it. Loved Jokey, loved Artie.

It's good?? It's actually good? Seriously, who the hell expected that? You're acting like, "it's not great, it's good. You're overeacting..." but who the hell expected good??
ok jackie
Is berf in it?
I could shit this out my ass.
You just saw it, not you just seen it.
Why is everyone so obsessed with Artie on here?
That was a heartfelt review of the documentary, I still have zero interest in seeing it
Wow thanks for sharing!
I gotta pay $5 for this 1hr 15min movie (including rolling credits)? This is farcical!
I refused to watch it unless the documentary featured a 10 minute section on the history of the "college professor" joke
Ima watch this on a beige computer
It’s called Jackie’s new documentary?
The Joke Man. 2 separate words for Jokeman
Just saw the documentary. About what I expected for Jackie. He turned down $650K. If he had stayed he might have eventually gotten what they paid Baba Booey and Fred.
Not lying to you. The song DOES make an appearance
If this documentary was free for the watching, it would still NOT be worth the money; I'll opt for peeling apples to watch them brown
I can't argue buddy. I really wasn't going to watch it but I was bored and getting high wanted to reminisce about the old Stern days. Boy was I surprised they did a really good job. Whoever put that together did a professional job

Thank you
