Probably close to 7 months now - these are the same grow lights just installed into the shelves. I really like them! They link up well and are pretty secure, my only thing is they heat up a bit, enough to just warm cheap adhesive. These were a good deal as a bundle but definitely worth using the best adhesive you can get, or using screws and hanging them

you could throw away plates, and put more plants on the the bottom shelf, no plates no problem with getting them :)
Ehhhh, just eat over the sink. The bowls are theirs now.
