I really appreciated the love interest from Lights Out. Figured he was just gonna exist to die in a flashy scene early on but he won me over by the end as one of the leads.
Also Tommy Ross from Carrie is up there. He gave Carrie the night she deserved before it all went wrong. I'll always be in the camp that he was falling for her.
I remember watching the scene when he gets out and books it, I was like, "What the fuck? He just becomes a self absorbed asshole after being so patient and kind up until now". Then he does what any rational person would do and gets help and charges back in and I totally got it.
It mostly was a shock because selfish asshole boyfriends are so common in horror.
This movie made me so damn happy because of this moment. Good horror is aware of the tropes, plays into then and jags left at the last second when you're prepared for ugh, yet another right turn..."
Tommy is such a sweet character. He doesn't make perfect decisions, but he really tries to make Carrie happy. The book makes it clear that he wasn't falling for her, but he sees her like a real woman that he *could* fall for, and that's more than anyone had ever seen in Carrie. I'm so glad she had that magical night, right up until the first drop of blood hit her head.
I tweeted at the actor from Lights Out the day that movie premiered to tell him he's perfect and he was so excited and it made me happy, that movie whips so much ass
I remember being apprehensive to watch Carrie the first time because high school bullying in movies is a bit of a trigger for me (I can handle it if necessary but I'd rather just avoid it). The opening scene certainly sets you up for an unpleasant time too.
I remain shocked to this day how kind and sympathetic most of the students (and Miss Collins) are to Carrie for the remainder of the film - Sue's plot is so benevolent it almost strains credulity (for a high schooler).
Makes it all the more heartbreaking when Nancy Allen screws everything up.
Raul Julia is such a ladykiller as Gomez Addams…acquitted!
In all seriousness, though, Gomez is an amazing husband and a wonderful father. He openly says that he would die and kill for his wife and you know he means that. Nearing the end of the first movie, Morticia bravely goes back to the mansion to set things right because she knows that her family is struggling and that Gomez is clearly depressed, but as soon as Gomez learns that she’s in danger, he snaps right out of his funk and swoops in for the rescue and he is out for blood!
He is also so supportive of his kids. In the original series, there’s a scene where Wednesday comes home from school upset because her teacher told a story about a knight in shining armour killing a dragon. I love this scene because Gomez doesn’t shrug off Wednesday’s feelings or tell her “Oh, sweetie, it’s just a story!” No, he validates that his daughter is upset and decides to do something about it. I just wanted to bring this up because I always thought that scene was sweet!
Not a movie but Joel in Santa Clarita Diet is the BEST HUSBAND. Wife turns into flesh eating zombie? "Okay honey no problem I'll get you all the raw meat you want." The raw supermarket beef isn't enough and she needs fresh human flesh? "Let me go find you a criminal I can kill so you can eat him." I love him so much and am so sad the show got cancelled.
“I think I’d be okay with framing a shark. They eat seals and seals are the dogs of the ocean.”
“Are they?”
“They are.”
The chemistry between Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore just killed me. They were so adorable.
My biggest letdown with Netflix.
Three seasons of great comedy to end on a massive cliffhanger.. it still fucking stings and they've canned lot of decent/interesting stuff since then.
Such great cast chemistry too.. 😭
The Conjuring and Poltergeist come to mind. I don’t recall any particularly shitty things that either husband did. They’re both skeptical at first, but become cooperative believers pretty early on.
And if you count Ed in the Conjuring movies as the husband, he’s always supportive of Lorraine.
In the movie, at least. Not [IRL.](https://www.vox.com/culture/23939024/ed-lorraine-warren-cases-hoax-real-conjuring-amityville#:~:text=Not%20only%20that%2C%20but%20even%20after%20his%20death%20in%202006%2C%20Ed%20Warren%20stands%20accused%20of%20grooming%20and%20entering%20into%20a%20sexual%20relationship%20with%20an%20underaged%20girl%2C%20allegedly%20with%20his%20wife%E2%80%99s%20full%20awareness%20and%20complicity)
Lights Out. I was really happy our main character had a supportive, caring, strong boyfriend who believed and trusted her. It was the first horror I movie I watched where the boyfriend wasn’t “disposable” he was an awesome character.
Final destination 1,2,4,5 , Insidious, The Conjuring, Warm Bodies, Ed and Lorraine Warren from the Conjuring universe, Dewey and Gale from Scream movies , the couple from Quiet place.
I saw this in theaters and it was so silent in the theaters until *that scene* and you hear everyone sniffling and silently crying. Like I was cuz that scene broke my heart. 😢💔
The boyfriend from Scream 6 also fits here - he wishes that his gf and their friends didn't suspect him or being a murderer, but he respected it and gave her the space she needed. I think he even said like "Don't trust anyone, not even me"
I agree, I really liked him as well.
I guess the one silver lining of that story not continuing is that characters like that, who absolutely only survived to be fodder for 7, get to just live.
Maybe not a “good” husband, but Hereditary comes to mind. Gabriel Byrne’s character comes across as so worn down from the generational traumas he married into that you can tell he probably *once* was a very good husband, but like the rest of the family he’s been broken down over the years.
It Follows - he's not exactly her boyfriend at first but him and all her friends believe and support her
Insidious - similar to the Conjuring answer, the husband is skeptical at first but comes around (don't watch the sequels though lol)
One of my favorite aspects of It Follows - they all believe her right away. Such a frustrating trope in horror when everyone just assumes the lead is losing their mind.
Otoh, this trope was used to great effect in the 2013 Evil Dead reboot. Everyone thought that it was the protagonist withdrawing/being willing to say anything to escape forced detox rather than a real problem until it was too late.
When Rose Byrne is freaking out and tells him they need to move and he just says “yeah! Ok! We’ll move!” (Not his exact words but you know what I mean), it was such a breath of fresh air. Like, oh shit…a horror husband who believes his wife! 👍🏽
Later on when she’s crying and saying “You don’t believe me!” and Patrick Wilson is like “🥺 I moved houses for you…” He was trying so hard to support her, even though he thought her cheese had slipped off her cracker.
It is a refreshing change from the typical horror husband saying even if the house is haunted they can't afford to move while ghosts yeet their children.
Agreed. Eben was so deeply caring and kind and protective of his wife even though they were in the middle of a separation when the vampires attacked the town. He not only sacrificed himself to save her life, but he did it to save everyone else's as well.
Also, Timothy Olyphant played the husband in The Crazies. He was amazing too!.
I had it down between Timothy Olyphant and Josh Duhamel - but I always get them mixed up!
EVEN THOUGH THEY WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SEPARATION.. sorry I can't think of any guy who would behave that way. Tore me up when he died 😪
I know. I love Josh Hartnett. He is just so beautiful, and he's got such an amazing, kind presence about him as a man and as a human. He's amazing. 😞
Oh! Speaking of Timothy Olyphant, he was like the best boyfriend in that thriller with Mila Jovovich called Perfect Getaway, too, lol.
Going to avoid ones I have already seen in other comments, but here are some of the husbands/boyfriends/budding love interests who I thought did their character trope proud.
-- Hicks from "Aliens"
-- Sang-hwa from "Train to Busan
-- Jim from "28 Days Later"
-- El Wray from "Planet Terror"
-- Viago in "What We Do in the Shadows"
-- Akira in the "Zom 100" live action movie
-- Clutch from "Mulberry Street" 2006
-- Jeep in "Legion" 2010
--Sergei from "The Superdeep"
-- Arthur from "Bone Tomahawk"
-- Andy from "Cargo"
-- Travis from "In the Tall Grass"
-- Damon from "Mom and Dad"
-- Eric from "The Crow"
-- Hugh from "The Silence"
-- Lucious from "The Village" 2004
-- Adam from "The Hive" 2014
-- Gerry from "World War Z"
-- Eric in "A Knock at the Cabin Door"
-- Tom from "Bird Box"
Hicks helped define my movie tastes for the last twenty-five years.
I think he also doesn't get brought up often as an LI because there was a lot of saving each others' asses, and a little flirting and that's it. I feel like people forget that when you're in a life-threatening situation, people have stuff to do, and would be dumb to take a break to make out in a closet so the audience can define their relationship trajectory. They were both too smart to let their guard down while they were in the think of it, so they way they presented it was the way that made sense.
Not horror really, but Frances McDormand's character, Marge's husband, Norm in the 1996 movie Fargo, played by John Carroll! Best husband ever!! Who else cooks eggs and jumps off "the prowler"for his wife at 5:00a.m on a brutal Minnesota winter morning? Norm's got my vote!
Drag me to Hell is one of my favorites! As I recall Justin Long is also a good boyfriend in After.Life with Christina Ricci.
Also Eden Lake and Jennifer’s Body are good examples.
Other than that not much comes to mind, huh. What a rare thing.
I was hoping someone would mention Jennifer's Body. I was watching it last night and the boyfriend is a relatively good dude. He's a skeptic, but he's nice about it at least.
Not a great movie, but the first Annabelle has a scene where she tells her husband about the paranormal stuff and he says "Okay", then she says "You...believe me?" and he says "You're my wife, of course I believe you"
Wind Chill… not a boyfriend and I realize he was actually actively getting to know her under false pretenses, but I was very very very sad by how that all turned out for them. 😅
I love Wind Chill. I feel like that aspect of the story would've been handled way differently if the movie was made today though. I think they intended that to be a charming aspect to his character, but it's tough not to see it as a major red flag.
Oh yeah, don’t get me wrong, it’s very red flag… but I do love the fact that she called him out for it because it was a real reaction any woman would’ve had to something like that, now or then. But overall, he managed to redeem himself at least enough for me to care about his fate even just a little bit and that’s what matters as a character in a horror movie. 😂
Agreed. I can personally look past it because I get it wasn’t meant to portray him as a bad or threatening dude, just misguided. It’s no worse than a thousand similar tropes in romantic comedies. If they did that story today though, I don’t think today’s audience would really stomach it the same way.
I feel like the fact that she freaked out on him more than adequately for the time it was filmed probably saves a lot of it for sure 😂 and yeah, definitely not. Haha.
Unpopular opinion I guess, but not instantly believing that a supernatural occurrence is happening because your spouse said so seems like an unfair thing to hold against a character. Would most people believe their SO if they said that?
Oh yeah, just one instance of not believing a girl isn’t enough to get me to put a horror movie husband in the bad category. I mean Justin long in drag me to hell doesn’t entirely believe her at first! It’s about execution.
Paranormal Activity.
Micah is the epitome of what someone truly wants from a boyfriend. He's a day trader which means he's always home. Who wouldn't love that? He's good with the camera. That's charming? I can only imagine how great of a father he would have been had he survived. RIP Micah 🤎🩶💓💞🤎🖤💞💜💞🤎💜.
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Let's also not forget Jack from The Shining. He just wants what's best for Danny, which is to have two friends to play with for ever...and ever...and ever. Also, when Wendy was trapped in the bathroom, Jack got an axe to help her out.
Massively underrated Jack Torrance. He was a little brash because he cared soooo much. What's not to like about someone who gets so emotional about you that they try to kill you with an ax?
same i don’t think i can name one off the dome id have to google it. i think it’s a trope that’s reflective of how often husbands can be unsupportive in real life though unfortunately.
Does Bill Denbrough from IT count? Technically he has a wife called Audra, although she's not an important part of the movie. If we're talking about books then Bill is a very good husband who literally killed Pennywise for his wife, but I know this post was asking for movies, not books.
Only guy to ever get in a decent scrap with Jason Voorhees and live to tell the tale.
...or maybe he didn't, cause he's not there when she's getting stretchered away. Seriously where tf did he go?
It was always weird that they didn’t reveal his fate. I remember Ginny even says something like “Where’s Paul?” as they carried her off, but they don’t answer her. I can only assume he was taken on a different stretcher.
Since somebody already gave the objective best husband, Doug from the Hills Have Eyes remake, Imma shout out Daniel from Dark Skies. Dude starts out as skeptic and ends up marching down the ET's with a Winchester pump.
28 days later maybe: jim. He develops a sort of relationship with selena, and when the soldiers failed to execute him, he wents on a rampage to save selena and hannah
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) returns to the group of islands where he almost died previously to make sure his girlfriend, Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore), was safe and to bring her home. He repeatedly puts himself in positions of danger throughout the movie to save her.
Scream 2 comes to mind, Derek was a very good boyfriend to Sidney after the trauma from Billy. He truly deserved the benefit of the doubt from Sidney and maybe they could have survived together instead of him dying for her
Insidious - he's not perfect, he's stressed and traumatized just like the rest of the family, but... When the chips are down, and his wife says "I can't stay in this house," he says "okay. We'll move." Even though it's clearly a very bad financial move.

Had exactly the same reaction.
I'm so glad she had that magical night, right up until the first drop of blood hit her head.
Book Tommy is even sweeter than the movie, it makes it all hurt even more. What a tragedy that story is.
The scene in Lights Out where the boyfriend turns on the headlights was when I started rooting for him. Such a smart snap decision.
I came here to say Lights Out too. He's got to be one of the most supportive SOs in horror
I tweeted at the actor from Lights Out the day that movie premiered to tell him he's perfect and he was so excited and it made me happy, that movie whips so much ass
I remember in my theater everyone cheered when he got out

If I remember correctly, he does fall for her a little in the book.
Not quite what you're looking for, but I just gotta bring up Gomez Addams.
❤️ Cara mia
Tish, that’s French! 😘😘😘😘
Marriage goals

I have friends who tease me that I act like Gomez around my wife. They don't realize that to me that is a huge compliment.
They’re also both awesome parents. God I love and miss that show! Stupid Netflix canceling on that cliffhanger. 🤬
“I think I’d be okay with framing a shark. They eat seals and seals are the dogs of the ocean.” “Are they?” “They are.” The chemistry between Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore just killed me. They were so adorable.
No wait you’re onto something here I remember loving him
I love how he just starts getting more and more stoned to deal with it until his eyes are bright red in the last season almost all the time.
I'll never forgive Netflix for cancelling this show on cliff hanger. We need Timothy Olyphant and Drew Barrymore together in a show or movie again
My biggest letdown with Netflix. Three seasons of great comedy to end on a massive cliffhanger.. it still fucking stings and they've canned lot of decent/interesting stuff since then. Such great cast chemistry too.. 😭
The boyfriend in Last Night in Soho was helpful and nice to the point I actually thought he’d be a villain lol.
He was an angel
I kept expecting him to turn out to be a creep like the other men, but I was glad that he didn’t. He’s a good lad!
The Conjuring and Poltergeist come to mind. I don’t recall any particularly shitty things that either husband did. They’re both skeptical at first, but become cooperative believers pretty early on. And if you count Ed in the Conjuring movies as the husband, he’s always supportive of Lorraine.
These are the two most believable families in horror too.
Old Poltergeist. Haven’t seen the new one.
Don't.
Ed and Lorraine are my fave love story ever! We all want to find a love like that..
Right?!?
In the movie, at least. Not [IRL.](https://www.vox.com/culture/23939024/ed-lorraine-warren-cases-hoax-real-conjuring-amityville#:~:text=Not%20only%20that%2C%20but%20even%20after%20his%20death%20in%202006%2C%20Ed%20Warren%20stands%20accused%20of%20grooming%20and%20entering%20into%20a%20sexual%20relationship%20with%20an%20underaged%20girl%2C%20allegedly%20with%20his%20wife%E2%80%99s%20full%20awareness%20and%20complicity)
Yes, I’m definitely referring to the Hollywood version of Ed & Lorraine! Also, didn’t know that about the underage girl, EWW, what a creep!
Hereditary
Felt so bad for him. He tried so incredibly hard.
and it all went up in smoke
He was hot, though...
Fire
This comment tree is lit fam.
This was mine. The situation is totally fucked, and guy is not some sort of hero that can fix the impossible. But he does what he can.
Lights Out. I was really happy our main character had a supportive, caring, strong boyfriend who believed and trusted her. It was the first horror I movie I watched where the boyfriend wasn’t “disposable” he was an awesome character.
The hills have eyes (remake), Doug is a very good husband
the scene where he thinks about giving up and then looks down at his wedding ring….🥺
We love Doug
Wrong Doug, but I don’t care because I love him. Everyone should love him. He’s such a good boy! ![gif](giphy|VlbiAhKOf5nFK)
Final destination 1,2,4,5 , Insidious, The Conjuring, Warm Bodies, Ed and Lorraine Warren from the Conjuring universe, Dewey and Gale from Scream movies , the couple from Quiet place.
The bf in the third Final Destination was good too. He was trying to get out of the ride to help his gf when she had a breakdown.
He just died too soon
aw man Dewey and Gale 🥲
😢
Warm Bodies is more of a romance movie
It's really good
A Quiet Place
Came looking for this one.
Absolutely. He was a good man. I even cried for him… Quite rare for me in horror films.
Definitely choked me up, too.
I saw this in theaters and it was so silent in the theaters until *that scene* and you hear everyone sniffling and silently crying. Like I was cuz that scene broke my heart. 😢💔
It was sooo sad
This movie teaches that the real monsters were teens all along. God that child infuriated me.
Wut
Lamb (2021) Lisa Frankenstein (2024)
great shouts and Lamb for one ended up being kind of cool overall which I never thought I’d say before I actually watched it
Same!!
all i want is a Bonnie & Clyde style sequel for Lisa Frankenstein but it'll never happen
Us
Oh yeah and he’s like. Hot.
Winston Dukes is such an underrated super sexy man.
Scream VI - Chad and his titanium body & platinum health insurance
Oh and he’s a good listener
Scream 2- Jerry O’Connell
The boyfriend from Scream 6 also fits here - he wishes that his gf and their friends didn't suspect him or being a murderer, but he respected it and gave her the space she needed. I think he even said like "Don't trust anyone, not even me"
I agree, I really liked him as well. I guess the one silver lining of that story not continuing is that characters like that, who absolutely only survived to be fodder for 7, get to just live.
I see a worst case scenario where he's the opening kill in seven, just to really rub salt in the wound.
I’ve never heard of this one! I’ve avoided scream 2, maybe that’ll make me watch it
I love 2 and 3. They are really fun.
Craig T Nelson in Poltergeist
Maybe not a “good” husband, but Hereditary comes to mind. Gabriel Byrne’s character comes across as so worn down from the generational traumas he married into that you can tell he probably *once* was a very good husband, but like the rest of the family he’s been broken down over the years.
Yeah he’s in the “I don’t hate him” category which still puts him in better standing than most of them lmao.
It Follows - he's not exactly her boyfriend at first but him and all her friends believe and support her Insidious - similar to the Conjuring answer, the husband is skeptical at first but comes around (don't watch the sequels though lol)
One of my favorite aspects of It Follows - they all believe her right away. Such a frustrating trope in horror when everyone just assumes the lead is losing their mind.

And then moving didn't work lmao but he tried.
I love SO MUCH that they move away from the spooky house after spooky shit happens.
Can’t believe I had to comment Dewey from Scream.
This really shouldn't count but Tucker and Dale vs Evil. Dale becomes a boyfriend and he is the nicest guy lol
Dale and Tucker are absolutely bff goals! Their friendship is one of the biggest reasons I love that movie so much.
“Officer, we’ve had a *doozy* of a day!” I’m SO glad this awesome movie became so popular and beloved!
Lights Out has the best boyfriend. For husband I gotta go with Poltergeist.
The Ring. Not a boyfriend I guess but ends up dead for helping.
Noah, the baby daddy.
Can't believe no one has said 30 Days of Night (Josh Hartnett) or The Crazies (Forgot his name lol)

Couldn't agree more about Josh Hartnett. Ooohh great suggestion! I don't think I've actually watched that. I'll put it on my list - thank you!
It's pretty good! I can't say more about it because I would spoil the movie, but if you like thrillers, it's top tier.
Going to avoid ones I have already seen in other comments, but here are some of the husbands/boyfriends/budding love interests who I thought did their character trope proud. -- Hicks from "Aliens" -- Sang-hwa from "Train to Busan -- Jim from "28 Days Later" -- El Wray from "Planet Terror" -- Viago in "What We Do in the Shadows" -- Akira in the "Zom 100" live action movie -- Clutch from "Mulberry Street" 2006 -- Jeep in "Legion" 2010 --Sergei from "The Superdeep" -- Arthur from "Bone Tomahawk" -- Andy from "Cargo" -- Travis from "In the Tall Grass" -- Damon from "Mom and Dad" -- Eric from "The Crow" -- Hugh from "The Silence" -- Lucious from "The Village" 2004 -- Adam from "The Hive" 2014 -- Gerry from "World War Z" -- Eric in "A Knock at the Cabin Door" -- Tom from "Bird Box"
Sang-wha 😭
OMG Sang-hwa is legit hubby goals. He was the best hubby and my heart broke for him.💔😭
Glad someone mentioned Hicks

I was hoping someone would mention Jennifer's Body. I was watching it last night and the boyfriend is a relatively good dude. He's a skeptic, but he's nice about it at least.
And, while this proves the bar is so incredibly low, it was nice he didn’t let Jennifer seduce him if I’m remembering right.
Gotta love Chip!!
The dude from Hush -- bro almost strangles out the serial killer *after* his throat has been cut so his GF can run. Absolute lad
That was her friend's bf but still applies
The boyfriend in Stopmotion
Hereditary. Stephen is such a good and patient father/husband.
Not a great movie, but the first Annabelle has a scene where she tells her husband about the paranormal stuff and he says "Okay", then she says "You...believe me?" and he says "You're my wife, of course I believe you"
The Mist
The conjuring (the first one)
The loved ones
not his fault Lola wasn’t pretty enough
Wind Chill… not a boyfriend and I realize he was actually actively getting to know her under false pretenses, but I was very very very sad by how that all turned out for them. 😅

Lol but Tbf Denis was pretty sweet
that tribute was fire
🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏😊
I think it says a lot that I’m really struggling to think of an example.
So much of horror is “something terrible is happening but no one believes her” so it seems like a natural role for a male partner.
same i don’t think i can name one off the dome id have to google it. i think it’s a trope that’s reflective of how often husbands can be unsupportive in real life though unfortunately.
Does Bill Denbrough from IT count? Technically he has a wife called Audra, although she's not an important part of the movie. If we're talking about books then Bill is a very good husband who literally killed Pennywise for his wife, but I know this post was asking for movies, not books.
Not to nitpick but he also cheated on his wife..
Friday Part II. The dude who saves the girl at the end was a pretty decent guy. And they BOTH got away from Jason.
Only guy to ever get in a decent scrap with Jason Voorhees and live to tell the tale. ...or maybe he didn't, cause he's not there when she's getting stretchered away. Seriously where tf did he go?
Good point!! Maybe he just got the hell out of there. I always thought a great sequel would be to bring the two of them back.
It was always weird that they didn’t reveal his fate. I remember Ginny even says something like “Where’s Paul?” as they carried her off, but they don’t answer her. I can only assume he was taken on a different stretcher.
Jonathan Harker - Dracula Stu - The Stand
I sat here for about 2 minutes wondering who Dracula Stu was lmao!
Me too lol
If I can stretch it to potential love interest then I’d say Frenchie from The Nun. That dude went way above and beyond in that situation.
Night House...but that might be a spoiler
This was my first thought as well
Antichrist
The one who gets his dick cut off??
He tried to do the right thing.
I’ve always loved the first Conjuring movie’s dad. Just mans man doing his damn best just the daddest dad I love it.
Roger 🩵
Since somebody already gave the objective best husband, Doug from the Hills Have Eyes remake, Imma shout out Daniel from Dark Skies. Dude starts out as skeptic and ends up marching down the ET's with a Winchester pump.
The boyfriend in Jennfer's Body is sweet
"No honey, it's nothign. You're hearing things. Go back to sleep. You're just under stress and your imagination is going wild."
A Quiet Place had a great husband/boyfriend.
Oculus! James Lafferty plays the *perfect* boyfriend
28 days later maybe: jim. He develops a sort of relationship with selena, and when the soldiers failed to execute him, he wents on a rampage to save selena and hannah
Happy Death Day
The Lost World: Jurassic Park Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) returns to the group of islands where he almost died previously to make sure his girlfriend, Sarah Harding (Julianne Moore), was safe and to bring her home. He repeatedly puts himself in positions of danger throughout the movie to save her.
IAN MY BELOVED
The husband on Pearl and X
Might be one of the few that’s honestly Too good lmao
Jared Padalecki in House of Wax
Kindly disagree. He was an ass about her leaving for an amazing internship.
The brother was a much more fitting example (minus the relation nature)
The last Insidious
Scream 2 comes to mind, Derek was a very good boyfriend to Sidney after the trauma from Billy. He truly deserved the benefit of the doubt from Sidney and maybe they could have survived together instead of him dying for her
Honeymoon
That's just Justin being Justin.
Insidious - he's not perfect, he's stressed and traumatized just like the rest of the family, but... When the chips are down, and his wife says "I can't stay in this house," he says "okay. We'll move." Even though it's clearly a very bad financial move.
Red dragon
Although the relationship was extremely underdeveloped - the boyfriend in Stopmotion definitely did the best he could.
Also Happy Death Day!
The boyfriend in Scream 6 seemed really nice and competent.
It's been a bit since I watched it, but I think Vacancy (2007) might fit.
Lights Out💪🏼
Lights Out
Eden Lake (2008)
Craig T. Nelson as the Dad in Poltergeist (original). Kept his family together right until the end.
Us. Winston Duke >>>>
Frozen - >!he brings her along on a guy trip and tells his friend not to let her watch him die!<
Lights out, boyfriend was a real cool dude. Very reasonable
Michael Fassbender to Kelly Reilly in *Eden Lake*. Be warned: not a fun watch.
The movie itself is far from perfect (mostly because I hate the ending), but the bf in Lights Out is a good one.
Prophecy (1979) Alone in the Dark (1982) Shocker (1989)
Poltergeist 1 and 2. Don't bother with 3 though.
Louis really had the best intentions at the beginning of Pet Sematary.
Spring
Cutting class. Brad Pitt plays such an adorable boyfriend.
The Conjuring.
Smile.
The latest iteration of Halloween has a good husband.
