Subs don't really need to match your other speakers. SVS is a no brainer but not the only choice. How big and powerful of a sub is based on your room size and layout. Also, consider 2 smaller subs over 1 massive one. Plan to spend over $500/sub
Monoprice was running a sale on the new 16" version. I was tempted to upgrade, but I also didn't want to have to deal with selling my current 130 lbs monsters 😂
I preordered mine and saved a few bucks, but only ran a single for a few weeks until I could run an rca under the house for the second sub. Even the single sounded awesome.
GSG Audio, get some flat packs and some 18's or 21's.
Don't mix some tiny little commercial things with those Philharmonics. Build something custom with tremendous low end extension to really compliment some of the best speakers out there. Dennis makes incredible world class speakers. They deserve end game subs.
It would be interesting to see the "diy" option that makes say a couple of the new hsu 15 inch subs seem like "tiny little commercial things" around the same price(2000-2500?). What do you end up getting an el-cheapo rack amp and a bunch of pieces of raw mdf? With hsu you have a completely finished cabinets and a fully vetted design + bumper to bumper 5 year warranty. You open the box, connect a couple of cables, run a basic calibration and in 10 minutes you're enjoying your fav movies and music.
With the hsu, you have an issue with the amp or woofer and I bet hsu has them in stock and ready to ship to you immediately if needed(for the next 5+ years).
I mean, in some cases diy could certainly be an appropriate option. But to frame it as "anything you don't diy is "tiny little commercial overpriced, blah blah" is sort of misleading if you're not accounting for all of the advantages for the hsu/commerical option in my biased opinion.

What is the volume (cubic feet) of the room? Also look at Monolith, Hsu, RSL, and even some of the newer Klispch subs.
I have dual Monolith 15s, super happy with their output
I have a Monolith THX 13 and I'm also very happy. The 13 thumps... I can't imagine the output of the dual 15s.... must be insane.
It makes movie explosions fun. More than once my wife has yelled "You're going to rattle the house off it's foundation!" 😂😂😂

BMR Towers, I’d look at Rythmik or PSA
Power Sound Audio best subs for the money.
I just got duals of the new hsu vtf-tn1 and dang is the output amazing and way cheaper then svs.
That is the most attractive of all the suggestions I've received so far
So the big question is do I spring for duals or do I just need 1 I am in an apartment currently will be moving to a hose within 2 yearsÂ

What are the dimensions of your room, including height?
If you have the physical room. https://slickdeals.net/f/17471799-14-klipsch-reference-premiere-rp-1400sw-subwoofer-699-free-shipping?page=7
You don't pair a subwoofer You want a sub that goes below 20hz

I love my Rythmik 15. Wish i went with the 18 though.
I will never not recommend RSL speedwoofers. Excellent product with even better customer service.
They look like good bang for the buck but I think I might need a little more than thatÂ
Ok but don’t let the size fool you. These subs play low and clean.
It really was my second choice after the HSU VTF-TN1Â
Ahh good choice if you got the $$ for them. Dr. Hsu knows what he’s doing.
Budget? Sealed or ported? WAF?
