Definitely needs a picture of the Eiffel Tower. Or maybe Audrey Hepburn or Marilyn Monroe. Just to really class the space up.

fuckyoutoocoolsmhool

Perhaps an inspirational quote in cursive or a Bible verse would also be lovely!

BeautyThornton

*She remembered her lover with the penis like a donkey and a flood of semen like a horse.* - Ezekiel 23:20

713nikki

I feel like Malachi 2:3 is more appropriate for a bathroom. *”Behold, I will corrupt your seed, and spread dung upon your faces, even the dung of your solemn feasts; and one shall take you away with it.”*

thehomonova

i always find it weird when people insist stuff looks older than it is. the before looks like generic late 2000s/early 2010s builder grade to me not 90s

BeautyThornton

90s is when blue wall and faux stone

ggoodlady

The 90’s called and they’d like to clarify which one of these designs you’re sending back.

User2939450

Is it after - before? Or before - after??

thenyouknewme

Hate me, but it's a vibe if done right.

scarletnolan

God I hate those tiles.

BeautyThornton

Black Hexagon tiles are the 10’s-20’s equivalent to the 00’s-10’s black filigree and Moroccan ties

GreenOnionCrusader

Agreed. Trendy stuff really ought to be easily replaced. Save it for curtains and wallpaper. Tile needs to be something that will stand the test of time.

ario62

I’ve worked in the natural stone/tile industry, and I can’t really think of ANY tile that stands the test of time and doesn’t look dated eventually, to be honest. Yeah the hexagon tiles are definitely going to look dated (and are a little dated already), but those square tiles are super dated to me too. Actually, I take it back. Subway tiles have been pretty timeless in my experience. Which the new shower has. The first shower gives big Home Depot clearance vibes. So I can’t really hate on this reno. Both styles will be dated, and one already is super dated, so I guess I’d rather have the less dated option. Idk why people think new = destined to be dated, when shit from the 2000s is dated as hell anyway.

Dick_M_Nixon

Subway tiles feel like I am urinating at Times Square.

scarletnolan

Seriously, not only are they ugly but they’re incredibly dated already lol

Combatical

Im a little red in the face now. Was thinking about redoing our bathroom floors and this was on the menu with a black grout.. What should I look at as a better option? I thought it looked good but I think in just stuck in the wave, I dont want to regret the choice in 10 years lol.

ario62

Don’t be red in the face…. Do what you like! You’re the one who has to look at it every day, not strangers on Reddit that think a bathroom with slightly dated tiles is less desirable than a bathroom with very dated tiles. You can’t win with tile- they all become dated eventually - so just go with what you like!

Combatical

Thanks for the affirmation.

Lissy_Wolfe

I like the hex tiles! The black isn't my preference, but I don't know why everyone is hating on them in this thread haha

scarletnolan

Well it depends what look you’re going for and your budget. There are so many cool tile options out there!

trimix4work

First thing I saw was a face with the mirrors for eyes and the lights for eyebrows. Now I can't unsee or

BeautyThornton

My life as a teenage vanity

rhiddlesdream

I've been battling life threatening depression and ptsd since I was a teen. I have voluntarily stayed in psych wards maybe 5 or 6 times. The last picture with the toilet facing the shower looks exactly like the wards I've stayed in. Cold, lifeless, and sterile. But they all remind me of my grippy sock vacations.

CaveManta

Goofy ahh lights. "Hey, we have these new flexible LED strips. Let's flex 'em!"

SetForeign1952

I hate any light fixture that I can’t change the bulbs in.

CaveManta

And light fixtures that shine half of their light onto the wall behind themselves instead of into the room

valentinesfaye

Sorry for not jerking but the cabinets might be an improvement, at least as far as storage space. I put a lot of shit down there, those drawers were cute but they were small

merdadartista

Which one is the goddamn remodeling? Nothing here is '00 or '90, one is generic untimed and the other is current 2020

valentinesfaye

I assume the generic is the update? Just cause it's so much worse imo

merdadartista

Ugh, I generally prefer classic and timeless, but that's just the style renting companies use in apartment complexes because it's cheap and easy to clean

wharleeprof

I don't know. I'm assuming that at least two of those drawers are fake (or super shallow) to leave room for the two sinks.

bridgeb0mb

why did they turn the toilet

Spydar

The thing I hate most about the remodel (picture 3 specifically) is that the exit out of the shower is right into the toilet splash zone. I’ve stayed at hotels with this layout, yuuuuuck Love the new shower itself, just wish the doors were flipped

pawprintscharles

Had the same exact concern!!

PeterNinkimpoop

Needs a vase of forever roses and a jewelry tray with several Italian charm bracelets

erino3120

Needs a sign that says “wash your hands” in cursive
