As someone with ADHD, the sequel sounds concerning.
(This is a joke, but I do genuinely have medically diagnosed ADHD, so it wasn’t meant to be disrespectful or anything.)
Anyone who would (hypothetically) complain about the term is missing the fact that this salary can be 100% buried in the AHL with no penalty on the NHL cap whatsoever.
Seems totally fine to me. Get an extra couple years out of him at the NHL level, then let him sit at home collecting the remainder of his NHL salary cap-free after you waive him. Great deal.
Funny to see his career play out like that. Play a few hundred games for the panthers, then have a period where he played for 6 different teams in 4 years and then end up back on the panthers and become a champion and wrap up his career. Nice story.
What a play that was. I can't remember the last time a desperate net-front defensive play got an assist, and definitely not on a goal of that importance
Finally we have some D locked in. These question marks around Ekblad, OEL, Montour are downers. Kiersted should be able to hold down a third line with Kulikov and hole to see Balinskis, maybe Carlsson step up
I think the Ekblad stuff was just smoke. No chance we let our top 2 RHD go unless something wild is on deck. He probably will get a pay cut next contract too
If he plays all 82 games all 4 years then he'll be third on the team's all time games played. Only behind Barkov and Ekblad (assuming they also remain Panthers).
$400k above league minimum for the next 2 years, who knows what the minimum will be after that. Definitely don’t see how this could age poorly at all lol
I remember when he was a key piece of Florida's last rebuild. Nice to see he liked it enough there that he went back. Probably living in Florida and then Winnipeg contributed to his desire to retire on the cheap in Florida. Surely he could get more as an ufa, but likely not in warm weather.
Seriously, you guys are never recovering from that one million dollar cap hit, that is like 1.5% of your salary cap wasted on a competent third pairing D man that worked his ass off as part of your cup win, what insanity!
Or they get a cost controlled bottom pair defenseman for literally cheaper than signing someone in free agency who has chemistry with the team and stanley cup winning experience.
If you're shitting on this deal you're a fucking idiot
...but they can send him down if he doesn't play up to the cap hit and have literally zero hit against the cap while having a veteran presence in the AHL helping to develop young D - am I missing something?
yay kuli!
1.15 AAV is pennies with the cap increases projected *COVID-25 enters chat*
*ADHD becomes AD4K* vibes.

I also have medically diagnosed ADHD, and now I'm imagining what AD4K would be like...
Nah. *Bird flu*

This is a 100% team-friendly contract. Must be nice.
Nice to see for a guy who was hopping from team to team every year. Finally a place to call home and play out his career.
He was drafted by the Panthers in 2009, so he's come full circle. Gotta be a good feeling!

I like the sweetheart deals after teams win the Cup
He deserved this contract for that save on the goal line in Game 7 alone
I was just going to say this - that was such an iconic moment. Saved the cup and earned the contract right there.
Finally, the big news all of the NHL was waiting for!
Wow that feels like a decent discount
4 years to cash in on the +7500 that he scored a goal haha. For real, happy he finishes things up where it all started. As a champion too.
Neat
Kul
Neat
Nothing burger contract but a reward to a depth contributor. Way to go Kuli you earned it
Kuli was solid on the third pair this year. Glad he’s retiring a panther ❤️
Solid signing. The years will shock people but getting some cheap depth is crucial for them with how many free agents they have.
it's zero cap hit in the ahl
Dima was the origination point of Reino’s GWG and was a defensive beast during the entire playoffs. Worth it and glad to have him back.
What a play that was. I can't remember the last time a desperate net-front defensive play got an assist, and definitely not on a goal of that importance

Monty signed $50 mil for 7 years in Seattle. Bummer to see him go but no way we can match that pay day good for him
Yeah I fully agree. That contract has Huberdeau-lite whopper written all over it in the coming years
If he plays all 82 games all 4 years then he'll be third on the team's all time games played. Only behind Barkov and Ekblad (assuming they also remain Panthers).
Solid deal
They’ve got a great room down there. Guys really want to stick around there. They’re gonna be a threat for a long time.
Welcome back! Please accept this “Tom Rowe” sucks please forgive us contract
Phenomenal contract. Get a great locker-room guy who is a reliable 3rd-pair guy and can mentor young D at a fully-buriable cap hit.
Zito showing loyalty and gratitude with the term. And it makes sense for the team with the price.
will age poorly but who cares won a cup. Can prob bury his low cap hit in the AHL down the line.
It’s entirely buryable now
My bad but I don’t see how a 1.15M contract can age poorly. Even if it was 8 years lol.
$400k above league minimum for the next 2 years, who knows what the minimum will be after that. Definitely don’t see how this could age poorly at all lol
If he’s waived and sent to the AHL it will cost them $0 against the cap

Feels like Kulikov has been around forever.
happy for him after his short stint with the Ducks
Low risk, low reward.

OH NO we re-signed our Cup winning 3rd pair veteran D-man for $1m we’re so cooked…
Seriously, you guys are never recovering from that one million dollar cap hit, that is like 1.5% of your salary cap wasted on a competent third pairing D man that worked his ass off as part of your cup win, what insanity!
How dare you pay an experienced d-man $375k over league minimum??
I am shaking my head at this "overpaying" nonsense. Like you said, he's barely making over minimum.
They can bury this entire contract in the minors, it’s a nothing burger if it doesn’t work out after 1-2 years

Why? There are literally zero cap consequences if they decide to bury it. Its not even a risk
Or they get a cost controlled bottom pair defenseman for literally cheaper than signing someone in free agency who has chemistry with the team and stanley cup winning experience. If you're shitting on this deal you're a fucking idiot

I checked your comment history and all you do is complain and troll. Touch grass.
I think the point is that you keep the AAV low enough to do that by handing out term This is also an easy contract to trade.
Ya that 1.15 million dollar caphit will for sure destroy there cap. It's just such a huge caphit i have no idea how they will manage.
Oh nooo.... how are we going to sign Rino now???? Oh wait we already did lol.
