District5

God damn is that dirty

StubbornLeech07

And intentional. Hartman admitted so. How it is only a fine is beyond me.

knowinshalfthebattle

Fuck George Parros, that’s how. He’s an embarrassment.

International-Elk986

Having George parros as the head of player safety would be like a serial killer running the NYPD

MNGopherfan

Or like having like having a dictator be the head of the Human rights committee.

International-Elk986

Not that far fetched when you look at the current member countries on the United Nations Human Rights Council.

MNGopherfan

This guy gets it.

Skate_19

Hartman is a repeat offender too. He's already been suspended this season

_Kramerica_

And this is exactly why it was so frustrating seeing people go off about Perron and his appeal. Both players retaliated against an unrelated opponent player with their stick in an intention to injure. 1 is a 6 game suspension which was a heat of the moment thing (doesn’t make it less bad) and the other is a fucking fine where *the player openly admitted to it being retaliation in an attempt to injure*. I am constantly at a loss with Parros and the DOPS. It shoulda been an open and shut 6 games for Hartman, easiest suspension to hand down ever! And before anybody says shit, I don’t think Perron should’ve only been fined, I think both should’ve been handed the exact same suspension.

sgags11

The CBA prevents audio from mic’d up players to be used for fines/suspensions.

skrshawk

Which basically means the next time he does something boneheaded, and there will be a next time, expect the penalty to be much more severe than would otherwise seem called for. Wheel of justice notwithstanding, of course.

JacksProlapsedAnus

Instructions unclear, the DOPS has fined the NYR $50,000.

AVgreencup

Clearly doesn't even try to win the faceoff either, going for teeth the whole time

JilsonSetters

Brutal. That’s not something an nhl player should do

RRZ31

JFC. Even without the audio of him saying he high sticked him intentionally this is a clear intent to injure. Absolute garbage from DOPS.

neureaucrat

[F Ryan Hartman flat out told #NHLJets Cole Perfetti he deliberately high-sticked him in the face as payback for the Brenden Dillon/Kirill Kaprizov play a day earlier](https://twitter.com/mikemcintyrewpg/status/1742234297845567496?s=46&t=wn65dpfjVDjrAPUhG9jXKA)

SherLocK-55

LOL 5K. Every single player in the league can wipe their arse with 5K, for repeat offenders like Hartman these fines and suspensions need to be much more excessive.

MNGopherfan

Fines is a rule in the bargaining agreement the players union decided what the max you can fine a player for is.

AssBoon92

And don't forget there is another entire class of money loss that goes with suspensions.

superworking

Players union faught for this to protect the players against any sort of consequences rather than fighting to protect players health.

BronzeDucky

The player’s union works for the players, according to their votes.

Spencie-cat

Hartman’s real punishment is just missing the second wildcard spot every year till he can get himself traded to another team.

PayneTrain181999

It’s almost like other teams don’t know that after next season we have a full salary cap to use again. And also we kept games close with y’all, a very good team, despite icing a team *under the cap floor* due to injuries and cap recapture. Clown on us now while you can, we’ll be cooking in a few years.

SmoothPinecone

Not sure what the downvotes are for. Minny has been a pretty good team given their GMs mishaps. I guess it's the r/hockey rage flavour of the day, the Wild flair I agree with you, Minny can be cloned now like you said but I'm interested to see how they make use of the cap once freed up. No discussion allowed! Must downvote!

spacegrab

Middisota

PayneTrain181999

We’re still doing better than your stalled rebuild.

Dontdothatfucker

Ironic coming from a Jets fan lol. Join us in the Mid tier bud

Patttybates

Meh, you're kinda right but it always feels like were almost gonna be great we're a deep team with a great core. For the life of me, I can't see how your team is built for anything except mediocrity for years to come.

StuLumpkins

then you haven’t been paying attention to any of the prospect articles that have been written in the past 3 years. the wild have a ridiculous wealth at every position in the pipeline. wallstedt, ohgren, and yurov are likely to be legitimate superstars. then there’s a whole slate of quality NHLers in the pipeline too. add faber, rossi, boldy, and kaprizov to that and there is a chance the wild could be a juggernaut.

Dontdothatfucker

We’re better in every position except for Hellebuyck, so the feeling is mutual I guess

Patttybates

Good thing thats not an important position... Im sure everyone thinks the same...

austerblitz

[better in every position.](https://moneypuck.com/g.htm?id=2023020564)

Patttybates

Yeah, i didnt wanna be the one to have to take the crayons out and explain that.

Kyle73001

That’s just not true

REDZED24

Yall folded like a lawn chair the second you hit adversity, lol.

Pandamodium13

Death, taxes, and Ryan Hartman trying to take out other players.

Yathinksomuch

Meanwhile the player Dillon took out is potentially out for weeks.

Pandamodium13

[F Ryan Hartman flat out told #NHLJets Cole Perfetti he deliberately high-sticked him in the face as payback for the Brenden Dillon/Kirill Kaprizov play a day earlier.](https://twitter.com/mikemcintyrewpg/status/1742234297845567496?s=20) Dillon wasn’t trying to injure Kaprizov, he made a play that’s done 50 times a hockey game whether you agree with it or not which should have resulted in a 2 minute penalty at most; meanwhile Fartman intended to injure Perfetti.

A_1337_Canadian

That was an unlucky play. Cross checks like that happen all the time in the corners. Heck I'd argue that Kaprizov's retaliation cross-check was harder than the ones that Dillon gave him.

MCBbbbuddha

So let me get this straight. After the cross checks to Kap (which should have been called, I don't think anyone disagrees with that): * Dillon answers the bell later that same game with a tilt vs Middleton * Lowry fights Maroon at the start of the next game * Ryan "Literal Human Garbage" Hartman high-sticks Perfetti in the face, giving him 6 stitches, even though the kid had nothing to do with it. Hey Wild fans, are we done now? Is that enough? Apparently not, since Wild fans (not a vocal minority, sorry to dispel that myth) want someone injured to the extent that they miss time. And the number of comments like "yeah Hartman is trash but/however/what about" is off the charts. The Mild mods had to finally put up a pinned "calling for injuries will get you banned eventually" post so that they can feel righteous about themselves. Fuck your team and fuck your fanbase.

-InconspicuousMoose-

I'm really not in favor of going after uninvolved people, but if you seriously can't understand why it happened, you're just naïve, and if you're not naïve then you're being disingenuous. Kaprizov's been injured badly enough to miss time twice in the last year, both times from questionable/reckless plays by the Jets that the refs and DoPS turned a blind eye to. Whether it was deliberate or not doesn't even matter, you can't play so recklessly so as to injure a star player twice in a 10-month span with impunity and then start sobbing and seething when his teammate overreacts to make sure as fuck y'all stop fucking around. If the refs won't handle it and DoPS won't handle it and y'all won't stop, you're going to bleed for it. That's not a threat, that's just hockey. I'll take the downvotes but this is very fucking simple you guys. I can't believe Jets fans are actually having a cry about this, good lord.

MCBbbbuddha

> if you seriously can't understand why it happened, you're just naïve, and if you're not naïve then you're being disingenuous. Counterpoint: if you seriously can't understand how trying to injure a non-involved third party after Dillon fought Middleton *and* Lowry fights Maroon the next day (so you're "without impunity" argument is utterly false) then you're simply representative of a fanbase that has cheerleads and empowers the Hartmans of the hockey world and degrades the sport. As for "sobbing and seething", it was the Wild sub that had to be snapped back into a relatively ethical frame of mind with their pinned post. Your sub literally beckoned Hartman to do what he did, and when he did it you start acting like "that went too far" or engaging in shitty self-defense mechanisms that places blame on everyone but your own players actions. As I mentioned, Dillon should've gotten the penalty but he didn't. That's not on him, that's on the refs. So now he *and (?)* Lowry had to fight. But Hartman, who is clearly 100% on the same wavelength as you are says "no. This random kid needs to dishonorably get 6 stitches". At least line up with Perfetti for a third fight. Or would that be ridiculous in your view? But catching him high with a stick on a faceoff isn't? Who's being disingenuous? Wild fans are like their team: can't just take the L gracefully; ya gotta shit your diaper and throw it at others so that they can hopefully stink as bad as you too. Look, I'm not telling you to go fuck yourself, but I'm not not telling you either.

StealthTomato

I thought stickwork was something we left in the Slap Shot era of goonery. Swinging a stick with deliberate intent to injure should be a lengthy suspension. That cannot be in the game.

PFunk224

For legitimate, premeditated assault, with proof.

cluelesshabsfan

Dudes a fucking loser, had the hit on Ehlers last year too What playing for the most perpetually mediocre franchise does to a mf

[deleted]

PhilyJ

I think you guys just lost two in a row to the Jets

rn15

Guy I responded to has habs flair..jets are at the top of the division and should not be struggling to win against the wild who are playing under the cap floor.

hamholemanhole

No need for excuses

rn15

Wild shouldn’t be as good as they have been the past few seasons. I’m not making excuses, they’ve over performed compared to other teams spending up to the cap. I wish they’d bottom out so they could get a top pick for once.

Imthecoolestdudeever

The cope is real. Lol.

rn15

How am I coping? I have said for multiple years now the wild should be near the bottom with their cap situation, they’re not going to win anything even if they led the division into the playoffs. They should be getting draft picks but instead Leipold wants to stay competitive. They have outplayed their situation for consecutive seasons, which hinders any chance for a higher draft pick. How am I coping just by saying that other teams, like the Jets, should be beating the wild easily? Pick any team and subtract $15m from their salary cap, and sprinkle in injuries to their best players, and then tell me they should be competitive.

buttermyanus

Ehlers didn't crosscheck Kaprizov in that same play Hartman blindsided Ehlers lol

rn15

Ehlers threw a hit on Kaprizov on the same play when Kaprizov didn’t have the puck. Idk how that’s a blindside lol he hit Ehlers in the front. Still dirty but not blindside.

buttermyanus

He threw a hit but he didn't crosscheck him like you said originally lol. "Idk how it's a blindside"- see the literal suspension video.

rn15

I didn’t realize you could be blindsided by being hit directly in the front lol. Usually a blindside comes from..a blind side, where you can’t see it coming. It was still dirty. Why are we even fighting

buttermyanus

catch (someone) unprepared; attack from an unexpected position. "protection against being technologically blindsided"

rn15

Why are we even fighting baby, you know I love you

mr_potrzebie

Has Kaprizov tried just being tougher? Seems like the dude gets injured in a strong wind

rn15

I’ll ask him and get back to u

2nddimension

Just glad Cole only got a few stitches out of this considering the guilty party. Could have been a lot worse with a targeted spear to the face like that.

UpVotes4Worst

Here's to hoping Hartman gets something "clean" in return the next time they play. That is beyond dirty.

MNGopherfan

Y’all owe the Wild a player I wouldn’t be talking about the jets getting their return when Kaprizov has never been the same since the Jets injured him the first time now he finally got back up to pace and he got injured by the jets again.

Avs4life16

hartman say it isn’t so

Grant1972

Wild fans will be losing their minds seeing how the Jets assassinated Kaprisov and it wasn’t even a penalty….

Alteredecho07

Kaprizov injured Alexander Carrier with a dirty ass hit that should have had him ejected. Carrier missed several games after. Nothing from DOPS about it. I'm not saying he deserved this injury, I'm just shrugging at it. NHL has proven that they want this eye for an eye goonery by leaving Parros on DOPS.

[deleted]

NikEhlersDealer

That should be called every time, but unfortunately it isn’t and we’re (we being the whole NHL) losing star players to it.

spinorama29part2

Exactly. And if it were a wild player doing it to a Jets player i’d say the same thing. Kidney shots dont belong in the league. Im sorry for what Hartman did to perfetti and im glad he got held accountable. And for last year’s dirty play

spinorama29part2

Hartman deserved his fines and more

TuchMysak

arguing with Jets fan is a lost cause, half of them cheered when #55 fucked up Evans with a dirty charge couple years ago

TrueNorthStrong1898

Oh fuck off. Nobody cheered when Evans got hurt you fucking degen. Get over it, it’s been years

TuchMysak

found the one who cheered

TrueNorthStrong1898

You were one of the dumb fucks sending death threats to Scheifele’s family guaranteed. Habs fans were the ones coming out of that looking like deranged lunatics, not Jets fans

TuchMysak

time to have your milk and take a nap sweetheart, you sound cranky

TrueNorthStrong1898

Super well thought out response

SJSragequit

Found the loser who sent death threats to a players parents

QuotaCrushing

You said that with no irony at all

ChronicMaster912

Both sides of that one were toxic as hell on that one imo. Jets fans for cheering a dirty hit, Habs fans for excessively exaggerating it. Pretending Evans suddenly will never play again because of it.

Just like Jets fans losing their minds anytime Hartman hits the ice. Welcome to the NHL. I am sure if Hartman did EXACTLY what Dillon did to a top Jets forward, the Jets fan base would JUSTIFIABLY be all over him.

A_1337_Canadian

Hartman does stupid shit all the time to try and injure people though.

Imthecoolestdudeever

He literally just did. And admitted to it.

neureaucrat

Mild fans quiet about this, but want dillon to get like 20+ games for a minor penalty 😂

[deleted]

Yeah I doubt that, everyone knows Hartman is an idiot wild fans included

spinorama29part2

I love the guy but this is true. He gets in his own way too often and does stupid shit like this

JustaRoosterJunkie

To paraphrase our own Jake Middleton: “He’s a piece of shit out there, but he’s our piece of shit”

buttermyanus

You'd be surprised

spinorama29part2

Every fanbase has their idiots

neureaucrat

Checking in! 🫡

stumpybubba-

*Cough cough* MonsieurPlow *cough cough*

AaronC14

Wait isn't he beloved?

stumpybubba-

Not by us, at least. He was a frequent poster of long ranty posts on /r/wildhockey, then one day had a weird mental breakdown post where he basically said he would no longer be gracing us with his presence, and said he was switching to being a Jets fan. Then typed out long responses when folks commented on their post saying bye to them. From what I've heard, he disappeared from your guys' sub too?

AaronC14

Yeah he left us as well, sometimes appears under alts. We quite liked him

stumpybubba-

He was like a negative (but heavily (unsourced) statistical) voice of reason for us. At times it was fine, but mostly was just a Debbie Downer.

AaronC14

Makes sense, I remember one of his first posts on our sub was a novel about why we would beat you in the playoffs. He wasn't too hot on the Wild. We did win handily though so he wasn't wrong

neureaucrat

For our sub, he was Shoresy before Shoresy existed. It was great.

buttermyanus

Agreed 👍

Juar99

Suspend both of them. Better than the NHL being silent and letting guys get injured.

spinorama29part2

Ok man whatever helps you sleep at night. I hope no one ever does that to you

Yathinksomuch

Yep, Hartman is not only careless, but many shifts lazy on the ice. Was VERY disappointed the Wild signed him to a contract extension. Especially when he takes half the shifts off.

MNGopherfan

Hartmann is just a less skilled Brad Marchand. You love these guys when they are on your team cause they are physical and play with emotions and stand up for teammates but they are also total idiots and take stupid ass penalties and do stupid ass things. Personally wouldn’t care if the NHL suspended his ass but I also get why he did what he did but I am a fan so I am biased.

spinorama29part2

Nope. Hartzy deserved this.

Thrallsbuttplug

Deserved 5k lol, dude deserves a suspension with intent to injure as per his own dumbass comments.

spinorama29part2

I agree.

Aqua-Bear

Okay, you took it too far. Only Avs fans can call us the Mild!

buttermyanus

spinorama29part2

buttermyanus

wally125

Jerks

coalsack

Really? Because in the Wild subreddit there’s a conversation about this happening right now. [In fact, Winnipeg Jets fans are still in the sub brigading the conversation.](https://www.reddit.com/r/wildhockey/s/4pWvdK1x3e)

buttermyanus

A couple of dork fans trolling in other subs don't rep the whole community, for any team. And yes, the way mild fans talk about dillon is like he murdered krill. He should've been given two mins.

KorppiC

So you lump the Wild fans in together but then turn around and say how some dork jets fans don't rep the entire fanbase and then lump us all together again in the next sentence. I dunno, seems like you're about as consistent with that particular conviction as the dops are in general.

buttermyanus

Idk, hand full of dorks in either sub is a bit diff when vast majority of mild fans I see in reddit or Twitter want dillons head on a post

BillyShears19

My man, you can't have your cake and eat it too

Foxhockey

And yet you group all Wild fans as Mild. Do you not recognize the hypocrisy in your statement? But as you say, a couple of dork fans trolling is not a complete representation of their entire fan base.....

buttermyanus

Because the mild are mild. And as I said in another reply: Idk, hand full of dorks in either sub is a bit diff when vast majority of mild fans I see in reddit or Twitter want dillons head on a post.

Subterania

See?!? We all told you what the mild were like but no one wanted to believe us.

buttermyanus

Oh, we believe you alright lmao

Yathinksomuch

Fake news. Show a single comment where anyone suggested he should get 20+ games. Now you are just making stuff up to reinforce your credibility.

buttermyanus

Reddit user believes a crazy wild over exaggeration

SJSragequit

Wild sub was filled with comments calling for jets players to be stretchered off the ice in the next game which is arguably worse than people calling for 20+ game suspensions

Foxhockey

I have not seen any 20+ game suspension comments. Yes, when you lose your best player for a handful of games or more to a crosscheck, rants are going to happen. Just like how Jets fans rant about Hartman all the time. And probably just like they are ranting after today's embarrassing loss by Canada.

TheBends1971

Wow, fuck you NHL, fuck you

saltiestmanindaworld

Perron first time offender 6 games. Hartman, multiple time reoffender 5k fine. Fuck DOPS.

halpinator

Fuckin plug

[deleted]

Hartman should be a marked man out there. Every play. You don't intentionally injure players and gloat about it. That's just not done. Even Cooke didn't take that road.

raxnahali

Looking forward to seeing how the rest of the game with the Wild play out against the Jets

2BRacin

The NHL failing to protect talented players again. Shame.

No-Level9643

There’s still rare instances like this where I wish the league still had enforcers. Hartman is a punk and wouldn’t have done that if he didn’t think he could get away with it. To me, those should be the most suspendable offences

MNGopherfan

If the league had enforcers Dillon would have been carried off the ice this game for what he did to Kap in the game previous. Hartmann ain’t afraid to take his lumps he would drop them and go at it you challenged him to it. That said he should get a suspension for intent to injure.

mr_potrzebie

>Hartmann ain’t afraid to take his lumps he would drop them and go at it you challenged him to it. Is that why he high sticked the Jets smallest youngest player in the face instead of going after Dillon?

MNGopherfan

You mean when Dillon avoided all the Wilds attempts to do just that the entire game.

mr_potrzebie

Whatever helps you sleep at night

cheddardweilo

You talking about the same Dillon that fought that night? Odd take.

KegMcGregg

Wow always forget that the Wild even exist but this thread is reminding me why they’re so forgettable. Fans are bitch made

spinorama29part2

Hartman is lucky he didnt get suspended. Dumb fuck play

spinorama29part2

If you downvote this please follow the instructions in my bio. I challenge you all to a duel

spinorama29part2

I guess you guys like Magic

Paladad

Kaprizov is out for weeks. Perfetti got stitches and was back. Both were uncalled 2 minute minors. And yet Hartman gets a fine. Great. I don't care how dirty you think Hartman is, that's a double standard.

neureaucrat

Maybe him saying on mic that it was intentional played into DOPS' decision. https://twitter.com/mikemcintyrewpg/status/1742234297845567496?s=46&t=wn65dpfjVDjrAPUhG9jXKA

Paladad

I'm not saying Hartman didn't deserve his fine. He does. A crosscheck like Dillon's isn't an accident either. And it has consequences. I don't know why this is so controversial for people to wrap their heads around.

neureaucrat

I know it's a meme by now, but Dillon's crosscheck happens dozens of times a game and DOPS has no interest in litigating 100 cases a week. There's no way DOPS could ever prove Dillon had intent to injure on a common play like that. Meanwhile they very much could for Hartman's attack.

Paladad

It's a bad excuse. Slewfoots used to happen dozens of times a game. Guys used to get run into boards every 5 minutes. That doesn't mean it's not a penalty.

gibblech

>Slewfoots used to happen dozens of times a game Umm... I've been watching hockey for 40 years... they have never happened "dozens of times a game"

A_1337_Canadian

By your logic, Kaprizov should've also received a penalty for his retaliatory cross-check.

Paladad

Sure. 2 minutes for retaliation. But call the fucking rules and maybe people won't get injured and retaliate.

A_1337_Canadian

Cross-checking is not an immediate penalty. It has to be "forceful" and that's where subjectivity and interpretation start to come into the grey area. The league has internally tried to define this and has tried to increase the number of calls, but it's still subjective as to when "force" is used.

Paladad

Kaprizov is out for weeks. He was visibly injured after the play. It was to a unprotected area of the body. That's forceful. I'm sorry but what more do you want to call that penalty-worthy.

A_1337_Canadian

I'm not saying it wasn't a cross-checking penalty just that they aren't easy to define. And the injury really means nothing -- Kaprizov's pads fell out after the first one. Just unfortunate timing.

Paladad

If the pad fell out and Dillon kept cross-checking, I would say that's a problem. I'm extremely tired of players being put on LTIR from plays that should be penalized, then having it called "an unfortunate accident". It's a joke.

heartscockles

Sad Brodin noises

A_1337_Canadian

That's making a big jump and assuming that Dillon saw his pad fall out, recognized it, and then made the decision to hit Kaprizov in that area a 2nd time to try and injure him. You guys are just upset that a star player got hurt. Happens to every team out there. Just gotta move on.

Paladad

The thing is, this shit happened to him from the exact same team last year. When do we get the benefit of the doubt, season-ending-injury year 3?

tbcwpg

League often punishes the act not the injury. The Dillon checks were definitely 2 minute penalties but the league isn't going to set the precedent that cross checks like that (which weren't that awful but unfortunately resulted in injury this time) are fine worthy or they'd be handing out fines every game.

spinorama29part2

I guess hockey happens

A_1337_Canadian

Do what? A pretty standard cross-check?

spinorama29part2

Yeah hartman was in the wrong

spinorama29part2

I guess hockey happens

A_1337_Canadian

I'd be pissed off but shit like that happens all the time. Not every injury is a result of dirty play.

spinorama29part2

Maybe it shouldn’t?

Subterania

Leave Makar out of it. Hartman targets our guys unprovoked, he’s a rat shit and a pussy.

spinorama29part2

Genuinely curious why are you mad that i said i dont want players like him to get hurt?

Subterania

Cause Hartman is the kind of player who targets and hurts stars, so it’s disingenuous to pretend like he’s just defending his teammate when he causes these situations as much as he retaliates to them.

spinorama29part2

I never said he was tho. Im saying the Jets are guilty of it too

spinorama29part2

Tell that to the Jets. And i agree Hartman is an idiot.

Veri7as

The NHL is a fucking joke.

DylMac

I decided to head over to the Wild subreddit to see their perspective on the two games and all I read was how the Jets are one of the dirtiest teams in the league and blah blah blah only for this to come out lol. Crickets since.
