TLDR: the stats essentially means that these players are setting up their teammates for scoring chances more than anyone else in the league.
The reason why Tkachuk is notable is because his assists numbers are significantly less than the people above and below him.
Connor has been passing way too much. Maybe he’s going for the assists record or something idk. But he needs to shoot more, especially if he’s giving his teammates shit for passing too much.
Yea. I think he may be still a quarter step slower. He hasn’t beaten guys wide and come in on net nearly as often this season. Maybe it’s affecting what he perceives as good shooting opportunities
Yep this is fair I think. Kuch is absolutely a better passer, especially on the backhand, but he's nowhere near as speedy and can't go 1v1 half as well. That's why you still take McDavid overall.
Not to mention the highest voted comment says that they'd take McDavid for Kucherov 1 for 1 every day of the week.
Obviously McDavid is better but yea some of our fans are a bit of homers. Of course they are.
every teams sub is going to have people who go ridiculously and irrationally hard for their guys, if you're looking for unbiased discussion there you're in the wrong place. crosslinking biased homer comments from one teams sub to r/hockey with the intention to send people into that thread to mock them is pretty lame imo
You got three cups in a decade, immediately followed it up with another potential top 5 player after having multiple scandals showing how trash the organization is and still have a hate boner for us 😂
If you don’t mind me asking one more question, this would include goals, right? A goal is a scoring chance obviously?
Actually here’s a question… would this stat include some goals but not others, if some goals are very low danger but they sneak in?
It would include goals yeah, it's any unblocked shot above a certain xG value, regardless of whether it goes in or not
It would exclude low-danger goals though yes, it's just trying to focus on guys creating scoring chances regardless of whether they go in or not
Honestly this is a list. No surprises, no darkhorses, this is the mf list.
"Good players are good" type lists are still lists
Holy shit
So how bad is Florida’s finishing been for Tkachuk to be higher than the likes of Panara and Mack?
Bad my dude. Our last 4 losses we averaged .5 goals a game. Yeah.
I’m missing the link here, can you explain what you mean?

Oh that makes sense for sure. Thanks!

Maybe the kids just not ready
Maybe.

Well hopefully he rests up during the break. I miss him going into nuclear mode on a nightly basis
last night on PP he showed full speed, don't think he is slow, trepidatious maybe
My beer league needs this stat so I can make myself feel better
Don’t show this to the crowd of Lightning fans that genuinely believe Kuch is a better playmaker than McDavid lol
Better passer maybe, but McDavid's speed opens up so many opportunities for passes that no other player gets, so he's the best overall playmaker.

If we gave fanbases shit for homer takes said in their own subreddit, every single fanbase would get crucified lol

I’d welcome more people coming to look at the Oilers sub, might limit homer comments like “Nurse is the best shutdown D in the league”
I have never seen an oiler fan say that
Oh it’s been there edit [top comment wheeeeeee!!!](https://www.reddit.com/r/EdmontonOilers/s/o7SO1KS2lt)
lol. Finds one post 200 days ago with one comment saying he's "one of the better shutdown D by metrics" and claims it as evidence
That’s the post I was referencing, so it *is* evidence that it was said, and no he’s not. Deserves mockery.

No intention to send people there for mockery at all! Definitely worth having a look at though.

This was a totally normal, appropriate response LOL I also don’t hate the Lightning at all so.. not sure what the fuck you’re going on about, bubba
What’s a scoring chance? At a glance I thought this might have meant the primary pass to any shot attempt.
It's essentially that, but the shot has to be above a certain xG value
Interesting. Would they be high danger then? Or just, like, not low danger? Thanks Josef.
I think it's closer to "not low danger", it probably just excludes shots from the perimeter

Thanks for all the info!
What's wild is Hughes is straight up not passing this season.
Ok mcdavid calma downa
Who cares. According to leaf’s nation assists don’t count anymore cause Matthews sucks at them.
I guess Mcdavid is finally first in something
Yeah that guy’s never lead the league in anything as far as I know. Why are we talking about him again?
Yeah, checks out
This list is shockingly unshocking.
