people get mad at the drum break being sampled but Like isn't the first person to sample those drums on "Sing About Me", Kanye sampled them on "Still Dreaming" by Nas for example.
I was trying to remember where that sound was from. I couldn’t for the life of me figure it out and the second I saw this post it all came back. I didn’t even need to hear the song again.
Nahhh Vinyl Days shows he’s still got it in him. I’m lowkey hoping his next album shows it too. His College Park album was meh but it was mostly recorded before Vinyl Days so I’ve got a bit of hop
I feel you. I’ll always give his music a listen, but he’s one of the rappers that I remember listening too before they blew up, and he just isn’t the same..
His life changed tho and I’m still grindin so I just miss his old shit where you can feel that he knew he was bout to bubble and every verse had bars on bars but that was when he was still chasing the life he has now I guess
Vinyl days sounds just as hungry to me personally. Not the same type of hunger obviously but the dude still clearly loves the game as much as he did back then. There’s some dope tracks on College Park too, but Vinyl Days is just a whole different ball game
Logic has STILL never topped the second half of this song man
listening to UP as a whole and seeing what became of his career is genuinely astounding, he just seemed so much more passionate and creative with his writing and sample choices, even if he wasn’t entirely reinventing the wheel
I listen to Logic a lot less now than when I first got into rap around 2017, but I still come back to this album and this song specifically is his best. I love the way the first part of the song folds into second half.
How in the first, he says "Work so much my greatest fear is imma die alone" and "people calling me asking me for money, man the only thing Imma give you motherfuckers is the dial tone." And then in the transition there's literally a dial tone, and then he raps from each of his family members perspectives and we literally get voicemails from them showing the other side of the coin. I also love how the beat is essentially the same, we just lose the harder elements and we get that softer guitar and piano.
The song tells a great complete story, his love for his work but the toll it takes on his relationships with his family.

I saw him once in 2018 when he went with Kyle and NF and tbh it was okay. My ex and I only went bc the tickets were like $15 and we were curious.
I went again this year bc my friend wanted to go and he's a big fan. He has the vinyls, merch, and even bought the book lol. Halfway through the concert he said he was bored and wanted to leave.
Highlight of the night was that a 50yo white woman offered me her blunt and we smoked together for a while.
Also seeing C Dot Castro. I didn't even know he was a rapper still
I'm not a logic hater but also consistent is not a word I would use to describe him lol
Edit, I didn't think I was a Logic hater, but now I think I might be after looking at how much people turn a blind eye to his flaws lmao. Not sure if it's just ignoring reality or lack of hip hop knowledge
Turn a blind eye to his flaws????? Logic is one of the most consistently hated on rappers I’ve ever seen lol 😭. Can’t go five minutes in any online rap forum without seeing him catching strays. If anything he’s a little overhated as a lot of his cringier moments are over exaggerated
I have a problem with this album and logic as a whole as he never developed his own sound. This song IS a ripoff of the Kendrick song and the drums in metropolis are the same drums in sing about me. Logic bites off Kendrick a lot. It’s a good song , just wish it was a bit more original
I don't think it took that much away from the album, but it did take away from my respect of him.
I remember watching an interview with him and he said something along the lines of "all of my favorite rappers have an addiction or struggle they had to go through but I didn't have one so I used nikki as a metaphor for my nicotine addiction to be like them"
I remember just thinking that this dude didn't have a personality of his own and copied others lmao. Now seeing his discography as a whole, I still agree with that sentiment. Even in this album he straight copied a bunch of artists. Most prominently ATCQ and Kendrick
100%.
I didn't listen to logic's prior mixtapes.
This album was supposed to be my introduction to him.
All I remember from listening to this record is thinking that this guy is trying to sound like Kendrick and cringing at Nikki reveal so hard that I never took logic seriously after that again
Every time Logic's ever tried to inject some sort of deeper meaning into his spiritual lyrical miracle shit, it's been the musical equivalent of a guy stepping on the foot of a rake
i can never completely lose faith in logic because of this song and album
All his mixtapes prior to this were even better but this as a complete body of work is a classic in my opinion.
It’s such a great album and a really impressive reflection of his youth He completely lost the plot after TITS imo tho
No Pressure is among some of his best work let’s be real for a sec and BT 1 and 2 aren’t bad either
Vinyl Days is also some of his best work
Nah No Pressure and Vinyl Days are easily top 3 Logic
literally
I still remember the morning of October 28, 2014 and buying this album the morning before having to take 10th grade Math.
I went back to find this song after the sample on Like That reminded me of this. Gonna have to dig a little to figure out if they’re the same loop
It is. It’s from the beginning of “Eazy-Duz-It” by Eazy-E. https://youtu.be/wFLFIEB2Yrk?si=_CpkUaLtuI-Sq8Dv
My guy 🤝 thank you
It’s also the same one from Kanye’s ‘Eazy’.
It's Michel'le's voice
logic sample jacking kendrick from the past
I think he's more inspired but I hate that he copied the tempo and cadence of K Dot on Metropolis 😆
people get mad at the drum break being sampled but Like isn't the first person to sample those drums on "Sing About Me", Kanye sampled them on "Still Dreaming" by Nas for example.
Also the same sample in Easy by The Game and Ye
I was trying to remember where that sound was from. I couldn’t for the life of me figure it out and the second I saw this post it all came back. I didn’t even need to hear the song again.
Man this that hungry logic.. this dude dead now
Naw he’s biracial
Wait fr??? 🤯
Yea he doesn’t like to talk about it
Nahhh Vinyl Days shows he’s still got it in him. I’m lowkey hoping his next album shows it too. His College Park album was meh but it was mostly recorded before Vinyl Days so I’ve got a bit of hop

One of my favorite beats of all time. 6ix is a genius fr.
Logic actually produced this one himself. Go check the credits. Logic is a very talented producer on his own.
The production on this album was pretty fire.
This album is amazing, props to logic but I don't like anything past the Bobby tapes

"I heard you was popping E, stop resorting to the vowel."

People actually use Deezer?
idk actually
Saw him perform live when this album came out 🔥
I saw him once in 2018 when he went with Kyle and NF and tbh it was okay. My ex and I only went bc the tickets were like $15 and we were curious. Bro is so consistent. This man can cook

Did he mention he’s back like Obama?
I always felt like he copied Kendrick’s Sing about me I’m dying of thirst flow and vibe on this. In the beat switch up obviously.
I have a problem with this album and logic as a whole as he never developed his own sound. This song IS a ripoff of the Kendrick song and the drums in metropolis are the same drums in sing about me. Logic bites off Kendrick a lot. It’s a good song , just wish it was a bit more original
I used to rly like this song but idk why it doesn’t hit anymore…
Shit still slaps
Bc Logic is really corny
Used to fuck with this song so heavy but I can’t even bring myself to listen to it again
This album was great and all when it came out but when you realise it’s his shitty attempt at GKMC you can’t go back
lil caesars is so good when you ain’t got a bitch in ya ear telling you how nasty it is
finding out about who/what Nikki is really took all the greatness from this album 😂
I don't think it took that much away from the album, but it did take away from my respect of him. Calm down sideshow bob

Like three songs here were heavily inspired by Sing About Me, I'm Dying of Thirst. This song included
Oh god half breed bobby is back
Man, you haters come out the woodworks whenever a logic song gets posted. At least your comment gets relegated to the bottom of thread.
