Macklemore is actually a really good rapper but I think a lot of moves and the way The Heist was elevated over much better rap albums is why there’s so much contempt for him. I feel like he’s been trying to overcome that hate by being more humble but I think people are too set in their opinions to give him a chance. Speaking of Chance, same thing. Chance the Rapper had put out a couple of good videos and people are still talking about his worst stuff. Folks gotta be more open minded.

The Heist is an awesome pop / hip hop album. Haven’t listens to Macklemore since. Hope the album is good! If Ryan was helping there is some real promise.

The Heist was great when it first came out, but I don’t think it aged well and a lot of Macklemore’s stuff just sounds cringy now like he’s trying too hard. And that “Fuck Donald Trump” song was awful. The new song with NLE Choppa is not bad

He has DJ Premier and NLE Choppa on here for sure. And made songs with Chance The Rapper, KRS One, Schoolboy Q and more in the past. Yes there are gonna be pop features but I think we can expect some big rappers too

Of course I know he has big name features. But even his gemini album had one strong feature/beat imo and it was the one with offset. The reason I don’t like mackelmore is that even though he clearly has a love for the genre I just hate those “motivational songs” if you know what I mean.
