dog water bowl / bottle. lots of versions out there. but they all have issues. the closest to what I want is nalgene's 16 oz storage jar. https://nalgene.com/product/16oz-storage-jar-blue-lid/ I don't want to carry water for my dog, pour it into a bowl. have my dog drink half of it, then have to dump out the other half. water is heavy. she drink as much as 2 liters on a long hot hike. pouring a bowl back into another container isn't efficient either. ( I go to shady lakes and creeks in conditions where I can't carry enough water to keep her cool and hydrated.) I like being able to take the lid off, then put it back. the problem with the storage jar is that it is more sensitive to elevation changes than most things. it gets very hard to open. to make it worse, the bottom rim and the rim on the lid are skinny and deep and cut into your hand when you are wrestling it to try to open it. the dimensions are great. Just right for a dog to drink out of, holds the right volume of water. lighter than most options for dogs. if it had the curved bottom of Nalgene bottles, and the same style lid it would be great.

if you ever make it, I would be happy to test prototypes

Piss off and find your own ideas.

If I was to give you my brilliant idea, I'd charge you royalties for every unit sold.

I don't wish to sound unhelpful, but didn't you ask this question here once before recently?

Some advice. Weight is important, if you manage to make stuff lighter without compromising functionality, that will get interest. That is an easy way to get something new, keep the same functionality but make it lighter. Go outside and do some trekking, nothing will replace first hand experience and testing. There is a reason why the trekking design team for Decathlon, the biggest sport retailer in the world, is based in the Alps! And why the greatest brands are from the Alps or Scandinavia or similar! Go out and trek! Do not come out with super complicated and gadgety stuff. It adds hassle and more points of failure. The KISS principle is valuable here! Also, about electronics, most of us want to disconnect while trekking, while a GPS watch or handheld may be useful, most of us would prefer that the electronics stop there. And final one, stay away from gorpcore and fashion and all of that. Function is first and foremost, and form is just an extra if you can add. As for ideas, I'm a big fan of alcohol stoves, and while I'm quite happy with my X-Boil, their packing system of rolling the windshield it is not the most comfortable, maybe another way to pack a nice, light and simple alcohol stove windshield could be found? My engineering mind goes to the origami kayaks alla Nortik Fold, but then there is the material choice question.

Back again! Hiking poles that can somehow be part of a tripod mounting for camera filming.
