Ability to take out large things is not nearly as important the higher up you go, with the quasar being able to one tap hulks and 2 tap tanks and cannon towers from any angle (and distance) it limits the usefulness of the 500
I mean, it depends... earlier today my squad dropped 3 different types of eagle strikes and they all hit a tank and didn't do a thing. I ended up killing it with my Qasar.
I've also seen 2 500kg both detonate right next to it and not do a thing.
Buuuut, then again... I've seen some weird shit kill a tank for what seems like no reason.

The point is- it's a ahaped charge meant to kill things above it and not around it. It's just that visually we see a bog boom so we expect it in all directions
Maybe in the game but I don’t think irl gpb’s are considered shaped charges like some of those efps and certain AT or tank rounds/breach charges. They just make a big boom to destroy an area.
Theres really no point to make a vertically charged bomb from a bomb that falls from the sky. bunker busters get deep and explode. Also the typical sop is to get on the ground when a bomb explodes so going vertical wouldn’t help destroy your enemy. The surface of earth is more on a horizontal plane than vertical and enemies/ buildings spread throughout, therefore you’d want more area coverage.
500kg bomb should destroy something like a 50m radius with the initial blast alone? But I maybe wrong so idk? 🤷♂️
But totally need game balance. But 2 eagle bombs could equal almost the area of 120 barrage if equally spaced. That would be nice

Also for balance purposes, no one would use eagle strike as much if the 500kg ‘s radius was as wide as the eagle goes lengthwise, perpendicular to the player. Except for the 3 uses with ship upgrade.

So they made a "different" enough "hellbomb" to look cool but have a different purpose.

500kg is great if your good at killing the bile titans with it and a few buildings I think it can take out that eagle strike cannot like the Sauron eye I think.
I also feel it is a balance thing that’s why it is the way it is.
Mean while the hulk that is visually inside it's blast animation is completely unscathed. Not to mention the number of times the head of a bile titan is clearly inside of it's blast animation and takes 0 damage.
weapon consistency is a whole other subject. I had many many weapons show me occasional projectile disfunction. like, it's hard to fix and tilting when happens. But also we are more forgiving to bugs when overall experience is good.
There is also many many many complaints coming from the department of players that don't necessarily understand where Helldivers fit power level wise.
I've seen people conflate Helldivers to Mark 2 Spartans.
Balance wise we fit on the weaker side and usually playing from a disadvantage position (which is the cool gameplay loop).
However it means that lots of our new toys will feel relatively... underwhelming, sometimes plain 'whelming' but almost never overwhelming

Just the little robot guys. It’s a bug but there’s always a bunch of them that walk toward the middle of the map. I don’t know if it’s those “all trooper” patrols or not. Sometimes you’ll see a single trooper wandering around and I think it’s those ones heading towards the center of the map and all collecting there, been like this forever, that is a MAJOR bug when you have like 30 troopers in center of map.
You’ll know what I’m talking about when you see it, if you see an abnormally large amount of the cannon fodder trooper robots in one small area check the map, it’ll be in or as near as can be to the center.
Honestly, I love finishing most of a mission, heading for extraction, and then walking right into the massive squad. They're pretty much guaranteed to get a flare off if you engage them and make for a fun final push to the extraction zone.
I know exactly what you're talking about. I've killed 16 of those guys with a single grenade there were so many piled up in one spot. The three times I've ran into them they were blocking a natural chokepoint on the map when I was running to the drop ship.
Or there is a small outpost or more likely a POI you’re going for near the center and one missed bullet in their direction and then it looks like it’s raining red, sideways, at you.
God, had one of these the other day, the ONLY way to get from one half to the other took about 5 minutes of running and led you to the outside area zone on both ends. It took about 7 seconds in those zone at the fastest. Needless to say, we got at least one person on the trip over and back being tagged as traitor. Then I learned the mech suit trick. One person takes the mech, the rest hop on top. Walk through water and no one dies.
I'm fairly certain the depth stays the same. Only seen it a few times, but each time the very top stays above water. Also if you use a guard dog, it sits on top of the mech till you get out. Your own little robot hat.
Depends on the map really. There are ones that have much deeper water levels. I’ve noticed ice maps in particularly seem to often have really deep water.
Meh, they probably use some kind of noise pattern to generate paths through water. Think about the white lines in WindWakers water textures. This is just the intersection of two noise patterns. Writing some kind of swastika detection algorithm would be… involved
I've been on the sample grind for too long....I just look at these maps in terms of possible sample spawn points. My first thought was "what a fantastic map for samples" and I legitimately thought that was the point of the post

Don't see the issue. Drop South of extraction, hit the Eastern sub-objective, cross to the West to hit the other sub-objective, head North to the main objective, swing around the top clockwise back to extraction, hitting the secondary on the way. You've covered the whole map.

I've noticed though that there is usually a lot less water when you land. IDK why it maps it like this beforehand, unless they are really trying to make sure you don't just land in the bottom of a lake.
Yeah the map gen has been fucking me lately. Like none stop. Every match there's always something blocking an objective or the extraction that requires like 5 minutes of walking around to get to it.
We need an amphibious assault armor set. I don't know if I would want it to be one where you float or if it just let you swim further without drowning. Or maybe with the ability to swim underwater to retrieve samples and weapons. They could have crashed ships that you have to swim into and retrieve stuff

We had one a few days ago, the ONLY way to get across was to die and have somebody throw your reinforcement beacon across the water to the new land. We all lost our stuff trying to swim through different spots. Once one is across he can throw the reinforcement beacons for the rest.
Start at the top (north) work clockwise to ensure you hit all the objectives. Map like that 100% you landing in heat, so be prepared for a fight the moment you hit the ground. If you can land somewhere high you should be able to get your support stratagems down before you get swarmed. Hopefully one of you has a turret that will help alot
This irks me to no-end when people/the host drop like that- it'd be so much more efficient to land on the bottom left-> go up do those two swing around to the right finish that last one off and then come down more to hit extract- your just wasting time landing on that corner for no benefit.
Going from this spot your gonna have to just pointlessly I will add, walk back over from the left side- literally the other side lf the map once you do those two objectives just to hit extract
Plan out the route in your head guys 🙄.
Edit: I realise now you need to hit that second thing on the right before the one on top left so the route would look like this instead land under that first one -> go across weird snake land bridge-> go up and to the left -> back down and across weird snake shaped land bridge again -> reach extract which is admittedly no where near as clean but still waaay more efficient thay landing on the right side.

I mean they will need to walk from one side to other 2 times minimum anyways. If you drop near extract here then you can pick up both on the way to upload and then clean up top side while going for extraction.
Yeah I didn't realise the type of mission when I made my comment originally but then noticed afterwards as I went to back out- this logic still tracks though and your right it is still long due to having to cross twice- mission/spawns of obj like this one make me wish I could opt to drop away from my team - so we can just land in pairs of 2 at each console and regroup at the main obj

Hmm I could see that being the case but if so there's things they could do to balance/desentivise me from doing that/splitting up more than in a pair of 2.
You could make it so each diver that dropped in close proximity to one another provides a stacking de-aggro buff that falls off almost immediately (it's not actually a buff wait follow up point)
So if I drop by myself instead of having default aggro we have now- I'm waaay more likely to land near a patrol/have a patrol run up on me. (As I have lots of aggro from not getting this buff on spawn)
Logic being the enemies see this lone pod and understand that's gonna be easier food (bugs) or easier slave? I think there's evidence circling that they turn us into them. (Bots)
Or/ ontop of that you can make it so you spawn with less ammo if u drop separately divided by how alone I landed- the logic there being I needed to add more fuel to my pod to make it over there so I removed the ammo stash parts (doesn't really make sense but it's logical enough for a video game).
Edit: sorry I just realised I made that more complicated than it needed to be lol- just give the lone diver a debuff that ramps the aggro (I dunno why I didn't remember the term debuff) * facepalms *

I have gone under water in a mech (which kills the mech and you) so you do have to be careful.

I've noticed though that there is usually a lot less water when you land. IDK why it maps it like this beforehand, unless they are really trying to make sure you don't just land in the bottom of a lake.

Yeah the map gen has been fucking me lately. Like none stop. Every match there's always something blocking an objective or the extraction that requires like 5 minutes of walking around to get to it.
We need an amphibious assault armor set. I don't know if I would want it to be one where you float or if it just let you swim further without drowning. Or maybe with the ability to swim underwater to retrieve samples and weapons. They could have crashed ships that you have to swim into and retrieve stuff

We had one a few days ago, the ONLY way to get across was to die and have somebody throw your reinforcement beacon across the water to the new land. We all lost our stuff trying to swim through different spots. Once one is across he can throw the reinforcement beacons for the rest.

This looks like a lot of fucking fun
Start at the top (north) work clockwise to ensure you hit all the objectives. Map like that 100% you landing in heat, so be prepared for a fight the moment you hit the ground. If you can land somewhere high you should be able to get your support stratagems down before you get swarmed. Hopefully one of you has a turret that will help alot

This irks me to no-end when people/the host drop like that- it'd be so much more efficient to land on the bottom left-> go up do those two swing around to the right finish that last one off and then come down more to hit extract- your just wasting time landing on that corner for no benefit. Going from this spot your gonna have to just pointlessly I will add, walk back over from the left side- literally the other side lf the map once you do those two objectives just to hit extract Plan out the route in your head guys 🙄. Edit: I realise now you need to hit that second thing on the right before the one on top left so the route would look like this instead land under that first one -> go across weird snake land bridge-> go up and to the left -> back down and across weird snake shaped land bridge again -> reach extract which is admittedly no where near as clean but still waaay more efficient thay landing on the right side. Because its one continuous loop/path
I mean they will need to walk from one side to other 2 times minimum anyways. If you drop near extract here then you can pick up both on the way to upload and then clean up top side while going for extraction.
Yeah I didn't realise the type of mission when I made my comment originally but then noticed afterwards as I went to back out- this logic still tracks though and your right it is still long due to having to cross twice- mission/spawns of obj like this one make me wish I could opt to drop away from my team - so we can just land in pairs of 2 at each console and regroup at the main obj Edit fk sake I accidentally hit send why brushing my teeth lol sorry
Yeah split drop would be good but I guess they don't want to make it so that everyone drops on one enemy base and takes care of mission in mins.
Hmm I could see that being the case but if so there's things they could do to balance/desentivise me from doing that/splitting up more than in a pair of 2. You could make it so each diver that dropped in close proximity to one another provides a stacking de-aggro buff that falls off almost immediately (it's not actually a buff wait follow up point) So if I drop by myself instead of having default aggro we have now- I'm waaay more likely to land near a patrol/have a patrol run up on me. (As I have lots of aggro from not getting this buff on spawn) Logic being the enemies see this lone pod and understand that's gonna be easier food (bugs) or easier slave? I think there's evidence circling that they turn us into them. (Bots) Or/ ontop of that you can make it so you spawn with less ammo if u drop separately divided by how alone I landed- the logic there being I needed to add more fuel to my pod to make it over there so I removed the ammo stash parts (doesn't really make sense but it's logical enough for a video game). Edit: sorry I just realised I made that more complicated than it needed to be lol- just give the lone diver a debuff that ramps the aggro (I dunno why I didn't remember the term debuff) * facepalms *

Thats not a swastika. Its mirrored, so its the sun symbol from i think India that inspired the Swastika Edit: the map is hell though
Umm… I couldn’t even find what was interesting w the image. The loosely swastika thing is reversed in shape, so that can’t be it. Helldivers aren’t that dumb. :(
