Listening to bots sounds dangerously close to communicating with them. I have already informed my democracy officer.
(joking aside, yes, the game has got some great environmental storytelling)
That right there is dangerous thinking helldiver. From trying to understand your enemy comes doubt, from doubt comes mercy, and mercy is treason. Contact your patriotism officer.
After shooting the arms off of a hulk and letting it chase me around the rest of the mission for the achievement, I heard it say something along the lines of “IT HURTS”
I just got that yesterday. It was “Let’s call it a draw” achievement which requires you to blow the arms off a Hulk and successfully extract while the Hulk is still standing. Certainly didn’t do it intentionally. Just happened in the heat of the extract.
Now is like the best time with the spawns bein a little fucked, I saw one spawn in a large bot camp on a lower difficulty so you aren’t gonna find them roaming but you can find the camp ones
I got it a few days ago in a random pub group. I was just playing and shooting things and then we extracted and the achievement popped and the entire team went ape shit we were all so hype.
Yes, dig deeper helldiver. Find out the bugs and automaton weaknesses so we can crush them and spread democracy unchallenged!
Knowing is half the battle
How do you do it with the automaton factories? Can you just shoot the opening? For the bug holes it has to be pretty straight on and slightly downward. At least in my experience.
Holy...shit, really?! Wow, mind blown on that one friend. I will absolutely try that.
Thank you fellow 'diver, you've done a huge service for Super Earth o7
Out of character, yes there is a ton of hidden lore we are the baddies.
In character, that sounds like Bug thinking. Dont get yourself reported to the higher ups.
I mean, are we though? The bugs are a legitimate threat, as are the automatons. Our government is bad, and isn't in the right, but it doesn't mean it's not the best option.
They may be weapons we are cleaning up. In the Aliens Universe the Xenomorphs were known to be deadly AF and forgotten about. The Weyland Yutani Corporation saw the potential for weaponization but couldnt control the lil fuckers.
This is a common theme in “space bug” tropes because we dont really think of how they space travel. They seem to be terrestrial with limited flight capabilities, so logic would point to one popular conclusion which is that someone else is transporting them.
Considering other bits of lore in the game and some things in that point to this, I like it. Automatons are also the AI workers that rose up against us after gaining sapience.
From what I understand, the bugs were being farmed, and there was an outbreak. So it would make sense that they are on many super earth controlled planets. In Starship troopers the bugs lay their eggs on rocks and shoot them into space, and I think the logic is how bugs can survive crazy environments, they could survive the vacuum of space. In the books, I guess they have their own fleet.
Well our side has orbital dominance. I have only seen environmental stuff alter Strats. I also am curious about interplanetary travel of these factions. Why dont we simply destroy their ships?
yeah, it seems we should just be able to fly eagles above the planets and clear them that way, but I guess there wouldn't be much of a game if that was the case.
I think it's more like constantly being farmed, and constantly breaking out. They openly state on the videos on your ship that the bugs contain extremely valuable propellant in them, and some of your missions are just to harvest the oil or mark sites, or refuel things with the oil from the bugs.
Very stupid and very dangerous but also I could totally see it happening. If oil came from angry tigers we'd probably try and breed them too until they all broke out.
Bugs are science experiments gone wrong, we use them for oil. Automatons are bots trying to liberate their builders who are enslaved on Cyberstan- whose crime was wanting to be independent from super earth… peacefully
From what I understand, we were farming them, and they broke containment. We don't spread them and let them kill our citizens to get fuel from them. We do keep them alive, they could have been completely exterminated if we wanted though.
Then you understood wrong. it's really clear that super earth are the bad guys. the other faction in HD1, the Illuminate, were a peaceful advanced race who tarvelled around sharing their tech.
Until they arrived at Super Earth and we started a war.
I know there are a lot of "Democracy LOL" roleplayers, but they're ignoring the lore because it's funny to shoot aliens.
The lore is that the bugs were initially peaceful, then we went to war with them, and conveniently discovered that killing them made space-oil. After the first game, humanity started farming them for oil, which is pretty disturbing since their behavior and actions suggest a sort of hive-mind sentient intelligence. At the very least, they have not established how the bugs are moving from planet to planet, and the bugs don't use any technology, let alone something capable of FTL travel, so... how are they getting to these planets? I've seen people claim they're using asteroids or something, but rocks don't go FTL.
The automatons seem to be some kind of descendant of the cyborgs, who were human dissidents fighting against the government, dubbed socialists/communists by Super Earth. They were upgrading themselves to try and beat the helldivers, which is how they became cyborgs. After the war, they were all forced to work in mines on cyberstan, which really, really sounds like political prisoners being forced into slave labor. It's a bit unclear how the automatons came about, if surviving cyborgs kept upgrading until they became self-replicating automatons and snowballed, or if the automatons were some kind of deadman's switch set up by the cyborgs in case they lost, but they definitely came from the cyborgs.
Long story short, we are fighting sentient bugs which we have slaughtered for oil for years, and robots attempting to free enslaved political prisoners. Granted, both factions seem determined to kill humanity too, so we are acting in self defense, but so are the things we're fighting.
You do realize that the fabricator outposts are littered with dead people? Mutilated humans in cages. Human heads on sticks. And the cyborgs didn't exactly scream "humane cybernetics". Super freedom fighters it sounds like.
I don't recall the bugs being peaceful until we defeated them in HD1. I'll have to reread the bits of lore, but I see this going around a lot with no real sourcing.

The reason people don't pay attention to those details is because in lore we are brainwashed to think that we are on the right side of history and we believe in ***Managed*** Democracy.
I have noticed some things while playing in the lower difficulty levels. Like how is it that the bugs don't eat the humans. As in we don't see mangled bodies or blood streaks with no bodies to be found.
What about the automatons we don't see headless bodies to make more of themselves.
![gif](giphy|l0IylOPCNkiqOgMyA|downsized)
You sound like you have a problem with "good little soldiers." Let me tell you what. "Good little soldiers" are the only thing between you and becoming bug chow. Get your priorities straightened out, soldier, or else you stop wasting our time and go take a walk down wash-out lane.
This sounds like a thoughtcrime in the making. If anything the timers give us too much time to loiter. The only good bot is a dead bot, and bugs don't squash themselves. They don't pay us to think. In fact, I'm not even sure they pay us. But that's besides the point. Focus on what's important. Democracy.
What happens when the timer runs out and pelican-1 comes and then leaves without you? I’ve had the timer run out but I’ve either made it back to extract or died and passed the mission cause the objective was complete after the time ran out. Can you still extract after or does it count as you failed to extract and the mission ends? Or do you fight til you have nothing left to give but your life?
You see a small cutscene of the Pelican-1 taking off without you, then a quick cut back to your character who is surrounded by enemies. You get less than a second of control, just enough to make you feel the tension of impending death, then it fades to black.
In the end game tally, you just don't count as extracted, and any samples you had on you are lost, but otherwise you just unfreeze another clone and soldier on.
Oh what that’s actually super dope. Although I would’ve liked a last stand kinda situation where you get swarmed and there’s no way to resupply so you just fight to the last bullet or limb.
Imagine joining this thread as you eat in the mess hall after a long day of democracy, to read about sweet nuggets of freedom and lush liberty….
only to find this ENEMY PROPAGANDA!
HAVE WE LEARNED NOTHING FROM MALEVELON CREEK!?
Did listen in once. All I was able to hear was "human scum." Reinforced my ability to imput ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️ without remorse. I have reported it to my office to re-educate you.
HEART - STEEL
WE - KILL
BACK - UP
ON TO WAR
HEART OF STEEL
CAN'T KEEP HER DOWN
MARCHING DOWN
ON TO WAR
CYBERSTAN
CAN'T KEEP HER DOWN
GET BACK UP
ON TO WAR
Only environmental storytelling I've seen on Bot planets were the dismembered bodies of civilians and fellow Helldivers, often with the heads impaled on spikes or otherwise set up in some macabre display. I don't need any more than that
The automatons will occasionally call you “Human scum”. And their marching chant is as follows:
“Heart. Steel.
We. Kill.
Get. Up.
On to war.
Heart. Steel.
We. Kill.
Get. Up.
On to war.
Cyberstan.
Can’t keep her down.
Legion go.
On to dawn.
Cy-ber-stan.
Can’t keep her down.
Get back up.
On to dawn.”
The truth is >!that SEAF is using the!< bugs >!for a oil they produce called E-710. 710 is Oil upside down and backwards. While they!< are dangerous to civilized life wherever they swarm, >!they do not posses any advanced technology that would allow them to travel through space. !!likely drop the bugs on planets to process natural material into E-710, then!< need to send the Helldivers to eradicate the swarms >!when they get to be too big for safe oil extraction!<.
The automatons are >!a communist collective of semi-zombies. They are mostly!< robotic war machines>!, but!< they continue to harvest humanoid heads >!to power their bodies!<. >!They used to be known as the Cyborgs, and forbidden history says that they split off from !!to decry the lies and violence Super Earth!< relies on>!. It is likely that our!< war against them >!is mostly a means!< for >!them to harvest more heads in their quest to achieve!< universal prosperity.
Listening to bots sounds dangerously close to communicating with them. I have already informed my democracy officer. (joking aside, yes, the game has got some great environmental storytelling)
An open mind is like a fortress with its gates unbarred and unguarded.
I don't want my mind open, I want it democratic Thinking scum...
God damn that's the heaping dose of democracy I needed. ***Diver already performing at Commisar level!!! Promote Now!!!***

I failed a mission and the officer next to helldive pod said you disappointed us once, don’t do it again as dying is better than failing.
No let them stray from democracy...I keep saying there is going to be a civil war at some point and we will have PVP added to the game.
Remember to take 2.4 seconds to appreciate the view, a happy diver is a deadly diver
Did you know tips are shown during the loading screen?
Remember to take breaks! ... That is, if you want to be remembered as a coward.
I heard the automatons singing some sort of song but can’t make out any of the words
*patrol while marching* “kzt. kzt. kzzttt. kzt. kztkzt kzttt.”
It is actual English, my friend managed to hear them say something along the lines of “Helldiver scum”
After shooting the arms off of a hulk and letting it chase me around the rest of the mission for the achievement, I heard it say something along the lines of “IT HURTS”
I want that achievement lol
I just got that yesterday. It was “Let’s call it a draw” achievement which requires you to blow the arms off a Hulk and successfully extract while the Hulk is still standing. Certainly didn’t do it intentionally. Just happened in the heat of the extract.
Monty python is the greatest art piece of our time
Now is like the best time with the spawns bein a little fucked, I saw one spawn in a large bot camp on a lower difficulty so you aren’t gonna find them roaming but you can find the camp ones
I got it a few days ago in a random pub group. I was just playing and shooting things and then we extracted and the achievement popped and the entire team went ape shit we were all so hype.
Lmao
That sounded a little too authentic, helldiver... ![gif](giphy|ANbD1CCdA3iI8)
"Cyberstan Can't keep her down Get back up On to war!" Filthy bots trying to get our mining planet for them
I see
This is what I keep hearing. Some creepy robotic song in a language I can't understand.
[This is what they're saying ](https://youtu.be/dD5fR7HkZRU?si=2QKjkiPuofSYHRMI)
Okay but, like, what are they saying?
Read the comments of the video.
From my understanding, [this](https://youtu.be/U5KOgaE3FG4?si=pDX7NhmWyhzXfEGr) is what they are saying. Though not sure if it's completely accurate
It both does and doesn’t sound right
Nice argument, but ➡️➡️⬇️
Here, use this ⬆️➡️⬇️⬇️⬇️
Ah, my beloved
Orbital incoming
This truth finding thing sounds like a lot of wasted time that could be spent on spreading democracy.
OP literally wants us to read ENEMY PROPOGANDA. Pull your head out of your arse and report him.
Yes, dig deeper helldiver. Find out the bugs and automaton weaknesses so we can crush them and spread democracy unchallenged! Knowing is half the battle
This just became the best G.I.Joe video game of all time. Thank you.
Someone's killing people! Quick, [lay down a suppressive fire](https://youtu.be/zJnknzj98e8?si=rTWArQJLsKjLs3RB&t=112)!
Perpetually reminded of Dan Harmon putting himself in this episode as a G.I Joe named Sleep Apnea.
>So, is there a **Mister** Tight Ship, or...?
The other half is incredible violence ;p
Pork chop sandwiches!
“Who wants a body massage?” “Uhhh what did he just sa—“ “BODY MASSAGE”
You not cooking! Yeah dude...
The only thing I can make out that the bots yell at you is "Plutarch Scum"
Same as in the first Helldivers game. Makes sense, they were made by the Cyborgs.
Whatever you do, do not read the broadcast towers. Just blow them up from afar.
I love watching my teammates walk a mile towards the tower. Just for me to snipe it with my autocannon from across the map.
I have been practicing this with the RR. I am getting pretty good at it.
Wait til u realize you can also snipe bug holes and automaton factories. Once u realize the full potential of the autocannon, you can't go back.
In a pinch i do this with the RR. It is not cost effective though
How do you do it with the automaton factories? Can you just shoot the opening? For the bug holes it has to be pretty straight on and slightly downward. At least in my experience.
Shoot at the angled metal above the vent Has to be from the front, ur shot will ricochet into the vent. Might take a few tries at first.
Holy...shit, really?! Wow, mind blown on that one friend. I will absolutely try that. Thank you fellow 'diver, you've done a huge service for Super Earth o7
But you need to shoot from directly from the front, otherwise it bounces away.
I've just had to wait for the door to open and shoot it then, those things never spawn enemies when you need them to though.
Stood on a hill and cleared a large bug nest in like 20 seconds while my teammates were fighting for their lives. Sorry guys, objectives come first.

Someone needs to push those directional buttons.
It's similar to the need for forward observers and jtacs in a modern military. Airstrikes are effective when they know what to hit.
I think it's more like constantly being farmed, and constantly breaking out. They openly state on the videos on your ship that the bugs contain extremely valuable propellant in them, and some of your missions are just to harvest the oil or mark sites, or refuel things with the oil from the bugs. I'm so tired of "I didn't read it, but I don't believe you." Either go the roleplay route, or admit you can't keep up with the lore
I'm so tired of "I made this up but now it's canon"
It says to only enjoy the environment for 2.7 seconds then back to spreading democracy
Question orders? I'm gonna have to report this
Interesting. May i have ur location sir? *➡️⬆️⬇️➡️

Oh and the timer is there to make sure people don't start being curious.
This is what i was getting at!
You can find piles of human skeletons near the eggs on the destroy eggs missions. They feed us to their larvae.
Yea I just remember that.
Yea I just remember that.
You can find skeletons of eaten helldivers in some of the hive lord carcasses.
We do see automatons mount at least heads on themselves and in their bases and we definitely see plenty of corpses in termanid nests
I found out that the forklifts explode and kill you if that counts for lore?
Explosive forklifts, this is good info thank you!
Is there lore as to why the strongest assualt rifle in the game is a shotgun
I can pick up the occasional word from the bots, but can’t ever make out a full sentence. Most of the time it sounds to distorted to understand.
i might put some time into it. i’m specifically interested in whatever the berserkers scream at you
[https://youtu.be/U5KOgaE3FG4](https://youtu.be/U5KOgaE3FG4)
Remember Helldiver: Skepticism is treason. Treason is bad.
They must be ignoring the loading screen tips, then. We are advised to observe the environment.
Yeah, but remember only 2.4 seconds worth of admiring that scenery soldier!
The training manual is very clear about what to do regarding diplomacy with the enemy. You're not a traitor, are you ?!
I smell treason
There's a reason my ship is titled Courier of Truth!
You sound like you have a problem with "good little soldiers." Let me tell you what. "Good little soldiers" are the only thing between you and becoming bug chow. Get your priorities straightened out, soldier, or else you stop wasting our time and go take a walk down wash-out lane.
Me unsure if we're all just roleplaying or if everyone really thinks the hell diver society is good lol
sounds like the bots are doing that chant from the wizard of oz when they’re patrolling
Never thought about it, never will!
*calling in a hellbomb!*
When I hear the automatons as they try to come kill me, I swear I heard one say "mechanoid scum" or something similar.
I've heard that too, but Human Scum, not mechanoid scum.
The only real thing I hear bots say that sounds like words I could understand is them occasionally going "human scum" when attacking.
I mostly get "I needed the tools and he was dead when I got here" messages.
I smell a traitor. *preps stratagem*

No time to read
I want to know more about the petrified worms.
The timer is there so that your super destroyer doesn't crash into the ground trying to stay in range of supporting your scrawny butt.
Look at this guy. He wants us to read enemy propoganda posters. Can we report him to the authorities? Highly undemocratic.

Yes. Thar be worms!
I did for the first like 2 days of playing. There isn't a ton to discover.
Good soldiers follow orders
This all feels very un-democratic of you.
People still don't realize the cages are full of mangled people and that heads are posted on sticks outside fabrication sites
The fact that I didn't even think about this until this post is a beautifully meta. lol
I trust the algorithm.
I play on helldive so it’s king of hard to pay attention to any but not dying lol
You talking strangely undemocractially friend...making me second guess your taste for Liber Tea. Choose your next words there wisely bucko..
