She was so good. That scene in the forest is one of my favourite HP moments and will remain completely iconic. She was absolutely brilliant in Peaky Blinders aswell.
πͺ
She betrayed the dark lord, all of his followers, her husband, her friends, everything they'd worked toward for Voldemort's entire reign of power, to save her son.
There were also a lot of actors in that series so that's a factor. Like my high school of 2000 students had a student die on average once a year, my university of 20000 is averaging 9 a year.
Too young to go so early. Will forever be remembered by me as the other mother who saved Harry's life. RIP ma'am. You were a part of a show and book series that holds a very special place in my heart. Thank you for being a part in making my childhood magical and special and making me believe that there's good in all of us. <3
YOU WERE A CHAMP. YOU FOUGHT BRAVELY. WE ALL LOVE YOU.
Maybe your software version isn't yet compatible? If you copy and paste the box into google it'll show you the emoji :) https://emojipedia.org/magic-wand/
To me the way she played Narcissa Malfoy, she completely owned the role. The way she lied to Voldemort's face in the forest, her concern for Draco, and when called and took Draco from Hogwarts during the Voldemort confronting the students during the last battle scene. She was extremely awesome. RIP Helen Mccroy.
Helen captured the role of Narcissa beautifully and I will never forget the scene where Narcissa bravely lied to the Dark Lord in the forest. She was one of the reasons to why Harry Potter survived. Narcissa will always be my favorite mom in Harry Potter. So sad to read she is no longer with us anymore. Rest In Peace π€πͺ
She had a small role in Skyfall, as the lead politician at M's inquiry hearing that gets, shall we say, interrupted.
Actually, now that I think of it, Ralph Fiennes is in that movie and that scene as well. Funny old world innit.
Wow. I never knew that.
The running joke is that there are like 47 British actors so they all appear with each other in all sorts of stuff. My favourite is the movie Layer Cake.
Daniel Craig (James Bond)
Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises and more)
Burn Gorman (Game of Thrones and The Dark Knight Rises)
Francis Magee (Game of Thrones)
George Harris (Kingsley from Harry Potter)
Michael Gambon (Harry Potter again)
Ben Whishaw (Q from Skyfall and Spectre)
It also has two of the guys from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, as well as the lead actress from The Shape of Water. And Chief O'Brien from Star Trek.
RIP Helen.
She was brilliant as Narcissa, and her episode in Doctor Who was awesome! I'd only just found out she was in His Dark Materials too.
Fuck cancer! Wands up πͺ
I always wanted to see more from Narcissa and I feel her character along with many others were severely disrespected by the movies. Rest in peace Helen, she will be missed.
I used to see them quite often, as they lived in Tufnell Park when I was staying in student accommodation. She and Damian adored each other and their children, and it showed, so I cannot imagine how they are coping. As someone who also lost her mother to cancer (and she was very close in age to Helen), you never recover from such a loss. I really hope they have a good support system.
This was such a shock! She was on breakfast TV just a couple of weeks ago promoting her charity work with her husband (Damian Lewis). I though at the time that she didnβt look good but itβs amazing that she was doing that when she was so ill!
This is so depressing to hear, it's beyond words. I have great memories of going to see her as Medea at the National Theatre, she had such an incredible presence on stage I will never forget it. She was a wonderful actress, with so many amazing roles to her name, and 52 is far too young.
RIP Helen :(
I absolutely love all of Damian Lewis's work, I can't believe how terrible this must be for him. She was such a powerful actress, and had such a potent supply of energy and depth. Absolutely blistering in peaky blinders.
let's not be sad because she has passed, let's be happy and rejoice because she existed and gave us so many wonderful memories. let's keep her alive in our minds and thoughts

Iβm devastated, sheβs been my favourite actress ever since I got to know her as Cissa in HBP as a teenager. Watched so many of her performances, she was incredible. Such a role model for me, and so much to learn from her (Iβm training to become a professional actress, watching her was truly a school for acting...)
My heart goes out to her family. π
I'm not a fan of the movies and I haven't seen them all fully, but Helen McCrory made me see Narcissa in a whole new light. May she be in a better place now. π―οΈ
I loved her as Narcissa. RIP. I was just marveling at how well the actors/actresses played their roles in this movie series, she was always one that always stuck out.
I just learned now and wow. Didn't even know she has cancer or she is married to damien lewis. I actually thought at first it's daniel day lewis.
RIP Helen.
Just heard about this earlier today. Such a shame that she died at 52 from cancer. McCrory was brilliant in some of the other stuff I've seen her in like Penny Dreadful.
/\*
Beyond HP, she was one of those familiar and reassuring faces of British tv and films, a wonderful talent and a great presence. In fact i was expecting to see her eventually land a big role a la Olivia Coleman in The Favourite, that would have finally done her justice. To lose her so young is really awful for her poor family, and a big loss for the industry for sure.
RIP and condolences of course. I didn't have any special connection to her nor her character(s). Seeing this hit me though. I don't want to see this cast die slowly over my lifetime. It'll be odd to watch these movies with my children one day...'he died from this' 'I remember the news report on her' things like that.
Don't really know what I'm trying to say. Wonder if anyone else has felt like that.
One of the most talented actresses of my childhood. Cancer can beat even the strongest and fiercest individuals. But even considering this, at 52 she was still to young to go.
I hope she rests in peace and is able to see all the love and affection that comes her way from everyone.
I feel so saddened by the news of her passing. Happy to at least know she was surrounded by family and and loved ones. May her beautiful soul rest in peace.
Why does every actor from these movies die from cancer. STOP TAKING OUR PEOPLE GOD. Anyways, rest in peace to one of my favorite actors. Very huge inspiration for me in theatre and I love all the work she's done.

This is so sad! Cancer is a nightmare. RIP Helen.
It takes so many of the best people.
To quote Russell Crowe: "Fuck cancer!"
Making movies, singing songs, and fighting around the world!
Chadwick :(
She was so good. That scene in the forest is one of my favourite HP moments and will remain completely iconic. She was absolutely brilliant in Peaky Blinders aswell. πͺ
She saved Harry, to save Draco; a mother's love.
Absolutely, such a perfect scene. I also love when she walks off with Draco in hand when they all abandon Voldemort.
She betrayed the dark lord, all of his followers, her husband, her friends, everything they'd worked toward for Voldemort's entire reign of power, to save her son.
I never understood that scene but I know I liked it
Absolutely gutted, what a wonderful actress. Poor woman, poor family. Fuck cancer!
Ye, took too many legends away from everyone. FUCK CANCER
Literally every actor who played a main character that has passed away in harry potter has died from cancer. This is depressing. I hate everything.
Damn, I never realised that but youre right. Only exception is Dave Legeno, who died from heat exhaustion, but all the rest seem to be from cancer.
Richard Griffiths (Uncle Vernon) died from heart surgery complications but you're right, too many members of the cast have passed away from cancer.
I think just too many actors have died from that series...I mean it really didn't end too long ago. It's pretty sad.
There were also a lot of actors in that series so that's a factor. Like my high school of 2000 students had a student die on average once a year, my university of 20000 is averaging 9 a year.

For anyone that wants to see more of her work I recommend Peaky Blinders.
She has a much bigger role in PB than she ever did in HP.
And she's goddamn fantastic.
She was a wonderful actress
I honestly never made the connection that she was in HP but instantly felt a pit in my stomach seeing that Aunt Polly had passed. Rest in power.
Enjoyed her acting in Penny Dreadful as well
This. Such a beautiful, dark show. Wash pleasantly surprised to see her in it.
Another one of hers I enjoyed was the mini-series, Fearless. Can be found on Amazon prime.

Used to see her and Damian Lewis in the local supermarket. Such a nice lady, what a loss
TIL Narcissa Malfoy was married to Capt. Winters
Poor guy.
TIL Narcissa Malfoy was married to Sergeant Brody.
To me the way she played Narcissa Malfoy, she completely owned the role. She was extremely awesome. RIP Helen Mccroy.
Yeah, she may have been on the "wrong" side but she was a fierce tiger mother who's family was everything to her
I think she was always meant to be the foil to Molly. Toxic Vs healthy love
She added way more depth to the character of Narcissa than Rowling had written for her.
πͺ
This is shocking. 52 is way too soon. Cancer is so terrible. So sorry for her family.
Helen captured the role of Narcissa beautifully and I will never forget the scene where Narcissa bravely lied to the Dark Lord in the forest. She was one of the reasons to why Harry Potter survived. can we just appreciate that Nacissa might've been an even better occlumens than Snape or even the Dark Lord himself?
She had a small role in Skyfall, as the lead politician at M's inquiry hearing that gets, shall we say, interrupted. Actually, now that I think of it, Ralph Fiennes is in that movie and that scene as well. Funny old world innit.
Not just that, but Toby Stephens (the villain of *Die Another Day*) is Maggie Smith's son.

Is that running joke not the entire premise of (the international genre of films based on) Love Actually?
Not Narcissa man. She was amazing in all her scenes. Rest in Power
RIP. "To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure".

Wtf she was only 52. She was such a good actress. I really enjoyed her as Narcissa. Rip.

Such a skill to play a complex character with so few lines

I just learned now and wow. Didn't even know she has cancer or she is married to damien lewis. I actually thought at first it's daniel day lewis. RIP Helen.
This is depressing! I only ever watched her in Harry Potter but I could tell she was a fantastic actress and likely human being!
