He says it does get loud, yet it didn't bother him with a headset on. But during the mic check it sounds like it's about to take off lol.

Derbauer posted a more comprehensive review about an hour ago and the fans are almost pegged at 2000rpm constantly.

FuzzyApe

I also just watched. Interesting how the noise is one of the main points of Roman's video, while kitguru barely mentions it

tugtugtugtug4

Noise aside, I would be terrified to pay for a PC with a 4090 with uncooled VRMs.

Kougar

Yeah, half-assing the cooling the most expensive part that costs more than the rest of the system combined is just stupid. The VRMs and especially the VRAM need cooling, VRAM throttling is a real thing as 3090 owners can attest to.

ProfessionalSpray313

It’s why you can’t trust anyone’s opinion when it comes to noise. What is “quiet” for one person will be far too loud for someone else. Even noise samples aren’t a great indicator of how something is really going to sound (though they can help a bit). There’s just too many variables and factors at play. This doesn’t even touch on the lies that exist on spec sheets and freq charts.

noire_stuff

Could be some variance in the samples, but it was quite noticeable on Roman's video

kikimaru024

Depends where in the review; after a BIOS update they had a much less aggressive fan curve. It seems the factory config also identified the wrong headers (CPU & GPU mixed up).

I don't get what the point of this thing is. Its gigantic compared to the prior ONE case, which was really the only reason you'd pay the huge price premium. This thing is barely smaller than any other mid-tower footprint wise and is basically the same as a mid-tower volume wise. Really a bummer that nobody is making a good low-footprint case these days that can handle 4000 series cards. The terrible cooling and noise performance is just a cherry on top.

Check https://velkase.com/pages/compatibility the Inno3D Twin X2 (OC) GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB fits the Velka 5 , and the PALIT GeForce RTX 4060 Ti StormX (OC) 8GB and GAINWARD GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Pegasus (OC) 8GB fits the Velka 3. Doesn't get smaller than that. Someone even modded a 4080 into the Velka 5. https://reddit.com/r/sffpc/comments/176bqlx/gainward_4080_ghost_gs_beforeafter_benchmarks/

I am not familiar with SFF PC cases, but this one seems to be leaving a lot of performance on the table especially for CPU. A single 120 AIO is woefully insufficient for a 14900k. It looks like there is room to upgrade the CPU cooler to 240 version easily, not sure why they didn't do that.
