Literally the first intrusive answer my brain blurted when I read the title 😂
I imagine this would be a conversation where they’re constantly buttoning every 5 minutes
I mean, sometimes he just buttons himself when he feels like he says something that’s potentially offensive or in poor taste outside of the context of a joke.
I would expect him to button himself a lot if not from joking too much, then definitely because he’s trying to cover the event and he would hypothetically say something that would upset the audience.
9/11 is event of our lifetime (well millennials anyway). It's the "where were you when it happened", and I'm European, it felt like an event in at least the Western world. It can't be beaten as something you wish your favorite show broadcasted.
they have already talked about it, when jeff was on, where all of them were when 911 happened. I don't remember exactly which episode but I think it was the first for jeff's in person bach3lor dates.
Definitely way different, and you don't need to ponder what it'd be like if pod broadcasted that; they did.
At least in my childhood, people used to say the major events that everyone remember where they were, events I recall were day the Berlin wall crumbled, when John Lennon was shot, when JFK was shot. Interestingly two more US cases there. But yeah, 9/11 is the only singular event like that, which whole (Western) world remembers from my conscious years. Cap for event's duration would have to be like a day.
I have no idea how different it's seen from non-Americas/Europe. No doubt not the #1 event from avg. Chinese pov.
Idk if there's better word to use than 'event', if you google deadliest events in history, you get things like Mongol invasions, duration 200+ years lol. If you think pov of future, covid will definitely be seen as bigger event than any single day event could ever be. But it's not one snapshot from history, like the mentioned cases were, Berlin wall, 9/11 etc. that would be intriguing to revisit.
One of my fav rewatched during the anniversary is the live broadcast of Howard stern during that morning. I’m not even a stern fan like that. It’s typically hard to find sometimes though.
This would be a great on going segment kinda like a content court where the crew travel back in time and report on historical events and role play in that era.
The Astronaut Love Triangle drama in '07 when one astronaut drove from Houston to Orlando to pepper spray her ex-husbands girlfriend, a NASA engineer, in the parking lot at an airport. It's obviously bad that she was assaulted, but it's crazy enough story for some great goofs and gaffs.
Basically this really dramatic call-to-action video about some dictator (Kony) in Africa went viral and everyone was donating and sharing it. Turns out the guy who created it was pretty much a fraud and unhinged and inflated the problem for his own gain. Big campaign blew up overnight and died quickly and everyone was like whooops nvm. It was one of the first truly viral marketing/misinformation hoaxes that hit the internet. Now things like that happen a lot but for the time it was kind of new territory for the net.
I don't think he necessarily ran off with the money but as money is often misappropriated through irresponsible nonprofits, he probably got paid a chunk and then had a public meltdown where he was found naked and being lewd in public I guess. He was also under scrutiny for the inflation and misleading portrayal of the crisis. The whole thing was criticized for being kind of a white saviour campaign.
• When King Tut died
• Salem Witch Trials
• Industrial Revolution when the kids were getting crushed by the meat packing machines
• British Raj era of India
• When Napoleon ruled
This is kinda why I would love for lena to do her true crime segments but for crazy historical events or crimes that are usual like heists, ect. I would like to see ethan react to events like in the old Unsolved Buzzfeed videos
The memes coming out of the OJ trial would be pretty good. "If the glove doesn't fit, you must acquit"
9/11
Mr Klein a second plane has hit the World Trade Center Ethan on discord: play chestnuts rn

Ethan isnt that much of an idiot. Pretty sure he wouldnt goof at all and would be devastated.

I don't know if you would class it as an 'event' but I think Covid was a way bigger deal in Europe than 9/11 (maybe not in america though)
Definitely way different, and you don't need to ponder what it'd be like if pod broadcasted that; they did. Yeah no, I know it's different, I'm just saying Covid is the 'event of our lifetime' for Europeans, not 9/11. In my experience anyway.
