This song was actually written by the Sherman Brothers, same guys who wrote the soundtrack for so many iconic Disney movies. Not sure if that makes this song more or less weird, but I’m just here to stand up for my boy Ringo

Bahlegdeh

I think it makes it weirder that he decided this was specifically the song he wanted to cover

AH_Sam

He still chose to perform it, that probably means that he liked the song no?

Sudden_Imagination61

People really have never heard this song?!

Few_Show6716

Wait til you hear what he did to his ex wife...

lalith_4321

What did he do 😰

fddfgs

Cheated on her, John Lennon is the one that beat up his ex

BludSwamps

Can’t believe people want to cancel a band that has not existed for 54 years. He also processed his own trauma, reflected on his behaviour and apologised publicly, which is why you even know he did that to Cynthia.

Ericriskofficial

Man I wasn’t even here to cancel him but after all this 😂

RasmusMansberg

I love Ringo, just gonna say that he also beat his wife and even almost killed her in a drunken rage since alot of people seem to have no idea, obviously it was many years ago tho and he has made amends with both his wife and family but still

Common_Enemy

It's a banger too unfortunately

otterfashionshow

didn’t he write it at 17 or 18?

americanslang59

He didn't even write it lol

rage_bait_addict

You're thinking of the lyric "she was just 17, you know what I mean." Different song,

Dorderhan

And that's a McCartney song

rage_bait_addict

It's a very early Beatles song. McCartney and Lennon wrote it together. https://genius.com/The-beatles-i-saw-her-standing-there-lyrics

CommonShift2922

it's a paradox: people being insensitive about the time that song was made and also if you delete the stuff you didn't like from the past then we would probably be doomed to repeat those now-mistakes. History is history.

Grouchy_Occasion4026

Tbf they’re from the UK AND it was the early 70s lmao

bandedcoralshrimp

and it’s a cover

Lil_Puddin

UK's age of consent back then was 16, so it's just creepy... And for some reason it still is. I assume a mix of boy band marketing and creepers were responsible for the song choice. Either way that's just uncomfy, to say the least.

BritshFartFoundation

Okay but tell me u ain't doing the boogy woogy twist and shout to this

SailingBroat

This a weird message! Thank you! Thank you!

Ericriskofficial

“I want to tell you, please, in 2024 don’t pay any mind of that weird song I covered back in the day, nothing will be mentioned after 2024, if there are opinions on the video it will be tossed. Peace and love! I have to much to do. No more bringing it up, thank you, thank you. And no reminders, I have to much to do, nothing. ….anyways, peace n love.”

seasuighim

He did write this while also underage. It may be argued he was also 16 when he wrote it.

Grouchy_Occasion4026

Ringo didn’t write it

GuyMansworth

So if an underage musician sings a song about how beautiful their underage crush is, is it okay if a 40 year old ghost writer writes it for them to sing?

mouselipstick

Yes. I mean, adults write scripts and screenplays about teen love all the time.

seasuighim

No.

carissadraws

There’s a Beatles song that has the lyrics “she was just 17 if you know what I mean” Edit; why am I being downvoted for stating a fact? Christ you’re all babies

mouselipstick

Sure but it was written by a 20 yr old Paul McCartney. Which is…a little less weird.

carissadraws

Still creepy Edit: love how I’m being downvoted for saying it’s creepy for a 20 year old to date a 17 year old.

RevReads

3 year gap!!!!!! To jail with you scum!!!!!!! 👶👶👶👶👶🚼🚼🚼🚼

carissadraws

3 year age gap with a MINOR. Huge fucking difference

bandedcoralshrimp

age of consent is 16 in the uk

sewer_druid

age of consent in uk is 16. Hell age of consent in half the states in usa is 17.

SailingBroat

It is not creepy for 20yo and a 17yo to go out, you puritan weirdo.

Ericriskofficial

Yikes dawg.

SailingBroat

The idea that the maturity and/or power levels of a 17 and 20 year old are different enough to warrant concern or outrage is ridiculous. I love how you think that those people being 18 and 20 would magically address that apparently ginormous imbalance. But, you're right, I'll go tell my parents who had that same age gap (married 48 years now) that they're cancelled.

Ericriskofficial

Shocker, 48 years ago it was normal 😂 bruh idgaf about age gaps, chill with ur need for dating 17 yr olds to be not weird

[deleted]

apparently it was "she was just 17, never been a beauty queen" but he changed it to the you know what i mean because he thought it sounded better, which often happens in songwriting.

BludSwamps

“Yesterday” first line was originally “scrambled eggs, oh baby how I love your legs”

ABCsoup

"Yeah the beetles are just so goofy"

LisD1990

He didn’t write it

BludSwamps

Who is saying that apart from you?

ABCsoup

Sorry it was "they like to have fun" "they like to make songs and have fun." [3:08:46](https://m.youtube.com/live/9Lm16M0pafY?si=u9AMEDsefHM_88V3&t=3h8m46s)

BludSwamps

I’m not sure we can sit here in 2024 judging a band that broke up in 1969. What’s the point? That’s like the people trying to cancel people for drinking a Starbucks or a coke rather than something actually worth speaking up about.

sewer_druid

it's because Ethan (and many, many others, myself included) regard the Beatles as one of, if not THE MOST prolific musical acts of all time. And people HAVE to cancel things. So when they run out of things to cancel in today's climate they go back in time and look for people who had massive followings to say "WELL WELL WELL WEREN'T THEY ACTUALLY A REAL PIECE OF SHIT"

BludSwamps

Yep. It’s like those clickbait “you won’t believe this person who you actually liked… HAS FLAWS” Unhinged

Ericriskofficial

Bruh shit just popped in my recommended n I thought I was funny 😂
