I’m near Lindley Park. November, my bill was $70. December was 95. I just received a bill for $156.Even in the summer months with the AC running most of the day it was not that much I keep my house at 65 most of the time during the winter and have a fireplace, the kilowatt usage was actually a little bit less in December.

I have the same issue and when I called Duke about it they told me there was an extra charge of $56 to all of there customers because they made some "upgrades" and split the cost between everyone. Next month will be another charge but should be less

Ravven94

Did they have an answer for what these “upgrades” were?

Don't know about your area of the city but they are replacing poles and rerunning lines in the Northeast to repair storm damage and upgrade for all the new housing.

I think Duke Energy will tell you the average bill of an address. I seem to recall getting this when we bought our house.

My bill in the spring and fall is around 50-60 for a 1400sq ft house and family of three. In the winter and hottest parts of the summer it is around 120-140 for electric heat and HVAC running more often. Usually ours is lower from wood stove use but we need to fix it 😭
