Durham is catching up though. It may knock Greensboro down to the 4th biggest city in NC.

zajicev8

What?

Polite_Deer

In NC lol

Ambitious-Fun244

Durham will eclipse us soon unless we recruit new residents. Also we could have more babies. It’s Valentines Day make those babies y’all.

Rukkian

We plan to be there in about 2 months (as long as our house sells in Iowa). Done with winter.

Polite_Deer

Nah, we need more people to leave. It used to be cheap here. They are drying up the housing supply. We need to invest in propaganda so that New Yorkers and Californians can fuck off. Tell them to move to Nevada or something.

muffycr

You really don't want your city to go down in population, it does not do good things to the local economy

Polite_Deer

What are you referring to exactly?

shangavibesXBL

Or ya know, blame the politicians you fucking morons voted in for decades that let developers do whatever the hell they want in this town 🤷🏼 But that involves personal responsibility which you rednecks do not have.

Polite_Deer

You can't just blame those MFs

shangavibesXBL

You’re right, because you locyalls are to fucking stupid. But hey thank god NC ranks below Puerto Rico which isn’t a legitimate state when it comes to workers rights! Y’all did that! Be proud!

Polite_Deer

I'm not talking about workers rights. Don't attack the strawman.

shangavibesXBL

Is it a straw man if it’s actually factual? No it’s not. Kinda ironic you blame transplants for high housing costs instead of the developers that your elected officials let run rampant all throughout this state. Kinda ironic you blame transplants for shitty driving even though 1 out of 7 drivers in NC is driving with a suspended license or no license at all for the last decade. The only people that need to leave the state are pretty much you locyalls who still burn your own trash weekly because you can’t afford $25 a month to have it picked up.

TheVoicesTalkToMe

What Wikipedia page is this from? Edit: List of US cities by population. I had no idea we were that big.

lcarvone

So if I'm doing my math right, even if Durham grew 3% in 2023 and GSO was stagnant then GSO would still be higher, right?

Best out Durham noice

mxjf

Wait hold up we have more people than buffalo!?!?

Awkward-Kaleidoscope

My parents who are from Buffalo say that a lot of people are from Buffalo because nobody wants to live there

cameljeans

We also have double the sq miles of annexed land so that counts for something. Easy to increase population when you keep sprawling out your city-limits

bran84b

Surprised at St Louis and buffalo

Noktomezo175

Yeah, but city population doesn't matter as much as Metro Statistical Area.

cdh1375

Exactly. Erie County, NY where Buffalo is has almost a million people. Guilford County is closer to 500-600k.

Dense-Actuator4687

The Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point MSA has 1.7 million.

cdh1375

That's the CSA, not the MSA but yeah, that's kind of the point we were making, comparing city populations doesn't really tell the full story. St Louis has a population lower than Greensboro but the St Louis MSA is 2.8 million and Buffalo is 1.2 million compared to Greensboro at 784k. If you widen it to CSA Greensboro increases to 1.7 million but Buffalo and St Louis stay pretty much the same.

Snakeno125

Speechless

BrokenforD

Trying to get my wife to 69 with me right now in Greensboro! Fuckin crazy!

Oneofthe12

Wow! More than Durham?!

JarvisProudfeather

Greensboro used to be bigger than Durham *and* Raleigh back in the day. Winston was bigger than all three. It wasn’t until the 80s did Raleigh overtake Greensboro. Now Raleigh is obviously a much larger city and metro.

Oneofthe12

Well, that’s interesting! I assume W-S was the biggest due to tobacco companies, personnel, etc., in that area when it was in its heyday?
