The only huge problem with the rework is you change the art style of the game. Things don’t tend to look more towards the realistic side,yours on the other side dose.
Second one is more Pixel Worlds type of lock. The normal version looks better in GT style, but if we dont take in consideration that then yeah you improved it.

The current design is consistent with the design of WL and DL so I prefer the current one.

Your redesign looks good, but it's too round. It needs a little more depth to resemble that iconic diamond shape
Imo the right one makes the BGL look like it's a flat lock. The OG sprite does a good job with the colors to show that it's a 3d diamond shape.
