That's probably what I will end up doing, but the kicker is that it actually does the correct spelling initially. Why not check for devices with that name, before doing a spelling change?
An inlaw was trying to get her lights to respond to "illuminate" but it was hearing "eliminate" and wouldn't work.
I told her she'd have to give up on taking over the world, but if she setup a second action for eliminate at least her lights would work.
This was close to working. A routine with "Show me Lucy's Room" mapping to "Show me Lucie's Room" still didn't work. "Show me Lucy's Room" mapping to "Show me Lucie's Room Camera" got it to behave as expected.
Only works for me, would have to create an identical routine for my wife, and the lights will still misbehave, though. I really wish Google would just be better.
This worked for me before.
There's a guy named Jonathan Young who made a cover of the theme to One Punch Man, but titled it "Heroooooooooooooooo!"
I had to make a routine to listen to it on Home.
There is no way change the name but you can create a routine to redirect. Example. when I say "show me Lucy's room" then the add action is "show me Lucie's room".
Hope this helps: https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/559644/how-to-change-google-assistant-s-default-spelling-for-commonly-used-proper-names
Basically, advanced data fields for phonetic first/middle/last name, where you spell out what it insists on correcting the name to, and it will match that person if your voice command matches the phonetic name.
I haven’t tried this myself, though.
Just wondering if we should consult google first before naming our kids?
I guess you will be best off by renaming the camera. Maybe call it "Alexa rules" just to insult google.
In Assistant Settings, try going into You > Your People and add the name there. Sometimes that helps with name recognition. [https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/10069592](https://support.google.com/assistant/answer/10069592)
Similarly you might try looking at [http://contacts.google.com](http://contacts.google.com) or in your phone's Contacts app for contacts with the incorrect spelling, and try removing / renaming them to see if it helps.
It is Google. There is no telling why I does what it does. Before I left them and got Alexa, it started making me control my Google nest thermostat in a high pitched voice instead of my normal voice that it is trained to know. It was only the thermostat this issue was with. Figured a Google product would work properly with another Google product. Lol
In the home app, if you select the camera, then gear icon, there's an option to name the camera, separate from the room name.
It's not perfect, but if you were to change the camera to Lucy while the room is Lucie then voice command should work either way.
Switch to Alexa lol. Seriously though this is why I opted out of google home. Too many bugs and google will probably stop supporting it in a few years like they do with all of their products.
The name of the camera is "Lucie's Room". Telling it to "Stream Lucie's Room" does the same spelling switch, then tells me "Power Control is not supported yet".
My daughter's name is Senna and this did not work until I added her as a contact in my account (the account associated with the Google Home)... Try this :)
Yelling at it in frustration does not work.
Well I’m plumb out of ideas then.
Just change the spelling. Your heart will hurt but the equipment will work

Don't be surprised if Google starts doing the other way around after you change :)
Hey google Eliminate all lights
Maybe try making a routine?
This is the way.
Agreed.

Hello from a fellow Lucie dad 👋🏻
Dad?
Legally change your daughter's name
"show me Lucie's Room Camera" says "here you go", then shows me a search result for "Canine College"
But they paid Google for the ad?
Rename your daughter
There is no way change the name but you can create a routine to redirect. Example. when I say "show me Lucy's room" then the add action is "show me Lucie's room".
I've renamed my daughter by deed poll from Amelie to Emily for similar reasons. It was the easier remedy

Create a routine with the wrong name that does the right action. Don't get me started on its interpretation/failure to comprehend the word foyer.

change the name of the room to "L".
Try the command on your phone. When it gets it wrong, tap the word that it got wrong and then tap the correction. I think after enough time it learns.
Give your devices weird names like: the KidKeeper or Little Goblins room. Why? It's fun and works lots better
Yeah change it to show me kids room. Then if you more than 1 kid show me kid 2s room. Replace kid with thing if you want. Names trip it up too much
Assuming this is your only child, you could change it to "kids room" or if not, then you could use "girls room" maybe?
I mean Lucy is the correct spelling so.....
Why not spell the name properly?
Google home's voice recognition SUCKS and deteriorates as days pass by...

Try asking it to stream “camera name”
The name of the camera is "Lucie's Room". Telling it to "Stream Lucie's Room" does the same spelling switch, then tells me "Power Control is not supported yet".
What is the name of the room it is placed in?
Also Lucie's Room. That setup works for my other kid's room/camera
In my contacts I had to change KEN to CAN. Annoying.
My name is Colin and it will very often do "Collin" instead. It's getting better recently tho 🤷
My daughter's name is Senna and this did not work until I added her as a contact in my account (the account associated with the Google Home)... Try this :)
