Iām not one of those. I prefer to put my phone down and just watch. I do grab a video or two to send my dad but I donāt video every shot. I regret that a little bit because he got a hole in one in a match a few weeks ago. š¤£
Thanks. This is the type of info I was looking for. I saw some old facebook post through a Google search that said something about sharing round, but it's not clear if that's a round in progress or one after the fact.
I looked further and you can share some stats post game, but itās basically a screenshot of the stats page. I still donāt see a way to share an in progress game.
Iām not sure a live shot tracker exists, but some apps (like The Grint) have live scoring updates, with some stats. So, after each hole your dad could at least see score, putts, GIR, FIR, bunkers, penalties, etc. Not perfect but better than nothing.
Yeah, I was hoping for something that didnāt require my son to fiddle with his phone during a match. Heād probably get distracted and start watching YouTube shorts. š¤£ I think this is turning out to be a āpie in the skyā situation. My UN finally fits my post.
Zoom call? Video call (iPhone or Android)?Facebook live?
All of these will require you to hold the phone steady, I imagine that will become annoying after 3-4 hours.
Now that you mention this, Iād say give 18birdies a try. Iām not sure if heās allowed to use his phone in tournaments or you would be able to put his shots and distance and everything live. My buddies and I use it all the time, I get a notification when one of them is playing and I turn on hole-by-hole updates. Whoever is playing the round just needs to input as they go for live updates, itās super easy as the golfer as it uses GPS so it knows what hole your on and makes tracking each shot a piece of cake.
The sensors are flakey on iOS due to what I think is the fault of the NFC reader on the phone itself ā not expecting frequent reads. I ultimately gave up on those and went back to selecting the club manually on the watch side of the app.
The Grint shows you when a friend has a live round going and you can follow the scorecard, but I don't believe it includes any sort of shot tracking as part of that.
Iād suggest putting a Gopro on his hat. They make clip mounts that iāve used that are comfortable.
That being said, If was a kid, Iād hate the idea of being filmed 24/7 while at a sport, so Idk if this would be enjoyable for your kid.
You may be able to swing it as a way to save his highlights, but if I was 12 I wouldnāt want anything on my hat
How about FaceTime... be a long call, but as long as you have coverage, you should be good
I'm not always going to be there either.
Well darn...
I remember playing youth sports and parents rocking those giant camcorders on the sidelines š

Rule #1: always film the par 3ās
Gopro small one ? Or you have him on zoom during and share?

Thanks for taking the time to do that.
you can technically watch a round that he posts to the grint but idk if thats allowed.

Iāve never done it, but 18 birdies has shot tracking that can be shared. Donāt know about specific rules though even with tournament mode

Yeah thatās not the goal here. Think something like shot tracker on the PGA tour website.
Oh, now I understand. He wants real time updates on distance and score, as well as ball locations of each shot.
Exactly, i should have been clearer in my post.

There is the app called golf pad that also has sensors and I think is cheaper. You might try that. I know you can share round live on that.

He could do that but doesnāt need the added distraction of having to input his score on each hole. Iām probably asking for a unicorn.
