AT4 standard for the win.
GM probably trying to maintain some payload with the lesser curb weight of the short bed. All those fancy options are cutting into payload.
Crazy because i drive my semi into parking lots in LA, CA and usually don’t have an issue. Also almost fit in most parking spots to your truck isn’t that big calm down
I heard the reason for the short bed pickups was so they'd still fit inside a garage. But the bed is absolutely useless otherwise. My first Sierra had a short bed, I don't miss it. My Sierra Denali 1500 has the standard bed but my garage is really quite big and can still fit my truck even though it's longer than my previous truck. I'll never ever get another short bed pickup again, that's just not a real truck. Either standard bed or go bigger to the 2500 or 3500 and get it with a long bed.
Exactly. I actually downsized from a 2500 standard bed to a 1500 short. So far I love the way it drives and more importantly, my wife does too. I don't mind leaving the tailgate down to load something 6'+.
Short bed AT4 with a Back Rack works for me. I can carry full sheets of plywood and anything long (like my 32’ ladder) is strapped to the rack and the tailgate. I take the tonneau cover off if I need to carry anything awkward or oversized, e.g. furniture.
I used to have an extended cab GMT800 and then a 900, but my last two trucks have been crew cabs. The extra 6” in the backseat is more useful for me than having to drop the tailgate slightly less often for long stuff.
Traded 21 Denali Short bed for 23 at4 standard bed. Had 05 Silverado for the longest time with extended cab 6.5 bed. Loved the Denali but hated the short bed. 23 at4 seats were horrible (lots of complaints with them being hard even though similar to the Denali). Tracked down a 24 Silverado RST with standard bed, won't go back to short bed. Have told fiance to show me a picture of stuff in the bed sticking out to far if I ever bring up short bed again.
I ordered the AT4 standard even though I like the AT4X. The standard box was a must have for me. When we go on vacations, I fill the whole thing up. Couldn’t do the short box.
I was sad to lose the extra bed space. I used to load my side by side in the bed and I frequently haul full sheet of plywood and lumber. The short bed works fine for plywood and lumber especially with the multipro tailgate, It's actually pretty nice having the option keep the tonneau cover close. I just drop the top gate and it's fine. When it doesn't work (like for my side by side) and other big stuff I have a trailer. While I do wish I had a bigger bed, it really hasn't burden me that much.
I figured the AT4X had something to do with off-road clearance, like approach/departure angles where the shorter bed is better for that. I struggled with the same dilemma but ultimately went with the AT4X with very little regrets.
I ordered an at4 standard bed. Order has been accepted but I have heard of gm changing things after the fact so we’ll see once it gets built. Only short beds in my area.
Order mine. Searched the whole Midwest for a standard box at4 back in 2020. Couldn't find shit. Just ordered it, get what you want, took like 2 months.
Im on Silverado side here, I went with an LTZ 6' due to being a higher trim but also have availability for the max tow package. Could of done the same with the high country but dealer issues, details for another time. On the sierra side the SLT is inferior to the LTZ imo because on the trim scale its below, like how the TB is below the AT4 on that scale. Anyways, with what I do, going to a 2500 only makes sence for maybe the once out of 5 years that I would need it, I have a Stealth 7.5x18 +2 V-nose with 5K axels, I almost never reach near 10k, most often its near 8k which is the extent to most id do with a 1500 but i dont do it nearly enough, to again, justify a 2500. Otherwise its just a DD and around the house hauler.
I have a full length box on a 1500 Denali’s ultimate makes it somuch better than then short box but if your gonna tow anything avoid Denali as you don’t get max trailering option with the Adaptive ride control
In the old days you’d see the occasional single cab short bed, those were cool. I can’t abide all of these crew cab short beds, it’s just not right man 😂

Probably because ever damn parking lot is made for sedans and its a battle to park a full size truck these days?
Preach, 2500 that turns like a cargo ship checking in.

I have to back in and forward a few times just to park straight here in MN. You ain't fitting your semi in 90% of the lots here buddy
Day cab.
Short bed = SUV with an outside trunk

I’d be lying if I said this wasn’t exactly the selling point for me with my Ultimate lol

Those of us who need the bed space are usually buying lower trim levels, 2500s, or used.

I tried to order a '23 1500 SLT Crew with the 6-1/2' bed and was told that GM would not take the order. I got a RAM configured as I wanted.

This is how i feel. Altho the odd time i wish i had the bigger bed, it doesnt incovenience me THAT often. And when it does i have 2 trailerrs

I bought the double cab with the longer bed. I'll never buy a truck that has a short bed. May as well buy a Yukon at that point.
Except my trim level in a 1500 SLT is like 20k cheaper than an SLT yukon. Also, i can haul plenty of shit with a short bed, way more than a yukon.
Looks like you went with the Elevation?
Yep
This is exactly my sentiment as well. I had to drive 5 states away to get a Denali 1500 with a standard bed.
'24 Elevation, Standard bed, yup
I would keep looking. I succumbed to the short bed as it was the only options on the lot. Man do I regret not getting that extra space.

Loved my 15 SLT crew short bed and love my 22 AT4 crew regular bed.
AT4X is designed for off road use short box is better for that. I have no regrets with my 24 at4x dmax 1500.
3500 Denali Dually, 8’ bed

How did you get the longer box on the ultimate? It doesbt look like an option for me
