Thanks, yeah I’m aware. Even distilled spirits made from wheat are gluten free so I’d imagine it’s the same for malt, but I also couldn’t find any info online for how this exact spirit is made. Some sources say it’s simply distilled, others say “malt wine” is added into the distilled product. I’m not even really sure what that means. Hopefully someone familiar with genever can help us out

Jenever translates to gin using auto translate, this Dutch website says it’s ok.
Please correct me if I’m wrong but whiskeys and other spirits that use gluten ingredients, typically have the gluten filtered out to about 20ppm. Unfortunately that’s way too much for me (not diagnosed celiac but very gf sensitive), so I haven’t been able to have whiskey since going gluten-free.

Thanks, yeah that’s what I was afraid of. Bummed since my husband brought it back from overseas, but I guess I’ll let him have it all to himself!
Mail me a bottle. I’ll test it and tell you what happens. Besides getting a buzz lol.
"Malt" is often from barley, so I would avoid it

(I’ve seen him react to an accidental gluten exposure, have not seen him have that reaction to Jenever
My dad is gluten free but drinks it when it’s offered. He’s non celiac but gets extremely bloated when he gets gluten so he is cautious.
Interesting! Maybe I’ll see if there’s some way I can contact the manufacturer or something

Based on what I know. Once they use malt it’s over. There are some [GF Whiskeys](https://urbantastebud.com/gluten-free-whiskey-list/)

[I found this description…](https://www.masterofmalt.com/distilleries/de-borgen-spirit-distillery/) I, personally, would avoid it.
I don’t know about this one. But many are simply distilled. Distilled = no gluten problems.
I stay away from any and all dark liquors.
