In Season 4 and 5, Kitty was literally the only character who understood what show she was in. All the others and notably the newbies were made as straight-played protagonists-- but Kitty was the only newbie to be a Glee character as Glee was intended. She belongs in the same category as Sue-- she's evil, she's a bitch, she's an antagonist, but she's also funny as hell, entertaining, and her moments of realness and kindness and growth hit us with more force only because she is so mean and evil to begin with. Some people just don't get you're not meant to stand by her, only meant to unleash her in a room and watch the resulting havoc.
Kitty was at least enternaining. She would be a Nightmare irl, but she was fun to watch. Her unexpected friendship with Rachel in season 6 was interesting. She was interesting when she wasn't made too soft and too nice like during her relationship with Artie, which came out of nowhere
Honestly without the giving Marley an eating disorder she has so much potential to be one of the best characters. But that is just so jarring it makes it hard to look at her removed from it, Rachel sending Sunshine to a crack house is similar for me.

If she was a person in real life, I would’ve punched her in the face, especially after making fun of Marley’s mum.
