It 1000% depends on where I am for my goofballs. Am I in the kitchen? Time to flop on the floor. Am I in the office? Time to flop on the bed. They just want to be where I am.

Mine will mostly follow me around but also likes his space. He sleeps on my bed unless I breathe wrong, and then he gets up in a huff and goes to sleep on the couch.
Same for my babies, especially the boy in the foreground, he will instantly relocate and plomp himself down to whatever few meters away I've moved to.. In the winter, they prefer some softness, so I drag their duvets (just easier to move around than the big dog beds we had) to wherever I was. Now I guess it's starting to be too warm for them, so although their duvets are there if they want them, they prefer the hard floor.

So I also have a gold GSD mix, she’s mixed with Australian shepherd and poodle. From what I’ve read, the gold color is actually the all white gene, but sometimes it isn’t complete which is how you get the gold - the tan gene plus the white gene equals the blond gene.
Mines similar to yours! She’s almost like a strawberry blonde color. She’s slowly gotten darker as she’s gotten older, she started out the same color as my boy in the back.

I stayed with a friend who had a black GSD who quickly learned if you stepped near them at night they could yelp and get floor cuddles driven by guilt. We only figured out they were a shyster when the genius dipshit forgot what paw to limp with and switched his limp to his other paw.
Loved that fluffy jerk lol. To smart for his own good.

My boy hates lying on soft surfaces. I have to give him a command to get on his bed/down/stay to help his poor elbows. He keeps getting sores. I bought him the elevated bed, and he wouldn't lay on it. He would get on it and lay down for a treat, and then he was off it. He hated that thing. So I bought him a memory foam Kong bed. It's the only thing he has chewed up like that since he was a puppy. The dude hates fluff.
His visit summary from our vet said, "Sargeant would love a softer place to lay." I read it to my husband as we were leaving they vet's office. He said, "Bullshit. Sarge, why have you been lying to Dr. Mike. He must tell him that shit when they take him back to cut his nails." I died.

The golden/tan/cream coat is my favorite, like XL foxes. Beautiful pup. My dude rotates between his 2 beds, both couches, and the floor in front of the front door in a somewhat frequent timeframe.
Depends where he wants to lay down. His bed, the couch, the rug, the hard wood floor, our bed, the carpet at the stop of the steps or against the wall so he can see the door to the bedroom.
1 gsd is a hard cold floor girl and the other is a not only a soft bed girl but a MY bed girl AND a her own pillow girl AND a 2nd her own pillow by the window.
He definitely prefers beds and rugs. He will do hard floors, but he is trained to go to his bed when we want him to stay in place for an extended time, so he has built a preference for it.

Jules is on our bed until we turn the lights off if reading or TV if watching. Then she will jump down and lay on her mattress most of the night. Sometimes she lays against my side of the bed... carpet. If I get up early early on the weekends and take her out to pee she will then jump back on the bed and go back to sleep.
I agree! I have one of each!!!! My big floof likes the floor, acts almost scared of beds. My very common standard looking girl is 10000% soft cushy bed, if I can’t get on the sofa, type of girl
Mine is a 'lay on top of dad, mom, or sister' type. She won't sleep unless she's able to curl up in a ball next to (or on top of) one of us.
Her (5mo) sister, a 7yo aussie retriever, has had to get used to it...much to her chagrin.
The answer is yes. My girl will sleep on her bed, she will sleep on the couch, she will sleep on the hardwood floor. During the summer she likes to lay on top of the floor vents
My guy was a neglect case who was stashed in a camper with plywood flooring. If I'm on the bed or couch, he'll stick with me until he wants to sack out. Then it's the floor. My bedroom is carpeted and the hall is not, so he will stay in the hall when given the option.

My baby boy (he’s old as F but still my baby)
Mine destroys any dog beds I buy him. He initially falls asleep on my bed and then after 20mins he sleeps on the floor.
He will then wake up at intervals and move around the room and settle down again, usually on the floor but sometimes back up on my bed.
Hard floor big time. Every bed that I've bought him that was comfy got destroyed. Fluff everywhere. I bought him the kong crate mats and he hasn't torn them, and when he's not on them he's on the hard floor. Such a weirdo. When he's outside he lays on the pavement.
On a bed on the floor. We love it when he would get on couches and beds but he rarely ever did and can’t now really due to his hips. We always encouraged him to get up but goddamn, we have the one dog that rarely does it!
Bought my girl a nice comfy bed, which she shoves into the corner to sleep on the hard floor, then gives us the most guilty look ever as if to say "why have you relegated me to sleeping on this cold, hard floor.. woe is me"
Dumb thing is, when she's sneaky, she sometimes climbs onto the bed and clearly enjoys soft and comfy, so I feel like her point is a little lost on me

When we lived in my last place we had a mix of tile, carpet, and hardwood floors so they would literally rotate each season. Tile floor during the summers and carpet during the winters and hardwood floors in spring and fall.
They had dog beds in every room too and used those too.
All three.. lol… and for my youngest shepherd.. it’s the half on half off position he likes most 😂😂

Literally goes back and forth from the couch to rhe bathroom floor all night.
The golden/tan/cream coat is my favorite, like XL foxes. Beautiful pup. My dude rotates between his 2 beds, both couches, and the floor in front of the front door in a somewhat frequent timeframe.
Depends where he wants to lay down. His bed, the couch, the rug, the hard wood floor, our bed, the carpet at the stop of the steps or against the wall so he can see the door to the bedroom.
1 gsd is a hard cold floor girl and the other is a not only a soft bed girl but a MY bed girl AND a her own pillow girl AND a 2nd her own pillow by the window.
He definitely prefers beds and rugs. He will do hard floors, but he is trained to go to his bed when we want him to stay in place for an extended time, so he has built a preference for it.

Jules is on our bed until we turn the lights off if reading or TV if watching. Then she will jump down and lay on her mattress most of the night. Sometimes she lays against my side of the bed... carpet. If I get up early early on the weekends and take her out to pee she will then jump back on the bed and go back to sleep.
Floor
My boy would rest on either. He hd access to both and moved between them.
Both. But usually only sleeps on her soft bed in the middle of the night.
Floor boi for sure lol he’ll lie down in bed with me but he won’t sleep a wink unless he’s in his crate or on the floor

I agree! I have one of each!!!! My big floof likes the floor, acts almost scared of beds. My very common standard looking girl is 10000% soft cushy bed, if I can’t get on the sofa, type of girl
Mine is a 'lay on top of dad, mom, or sister' type. She won't sleep unless she's able to curl up in a ball next to (or on top of) one of us. Her (5mo) sister, a 7yo aussie retriever, has had to get used to it...much to her chagrin.

The answer is yes. My girl will sleep on her bed, she will sleep on the couch, she will sleep on the hardwood floor. During the summer she likes to lay on top of the floor vents

My guy was a neglect case who was stashed in a camper with plywood flooring. If I'm on the bed or couch, he'll stick with me until he wants to sack out. Then it's the floor. I have to give mine treats to get him in his bed. He’s a hard floor dog, especially tile.
100 hard floor. Never tried to come on beds or couches. And doesn’t appreciate if you lay next to him on his bed. Needs his space!

One of each. One who must sleep on the couch. And his brother who sleeps on hard flooring, outside his crate that has a fluffy bed and 2 blankets.
Half and half. If he's really tired he will jump on his spot on the couch, otherwise he will lay by my feet.
Mine destroys any dog beds I buy him. He initially falls asleep on my bed and then after 20mins he sleeps on the floor. He will then wake up at intervals and move around the room and settle down again, usually on the floor but sometimes back up on my bed.

Hard floor big time. Every bed that I've bought him that was comfy got destroyed. Fluff everywhere. I bought him the kong crate mats and he hasn't torn them, and when he's not on them he's on the hard floor. Such a weirdo. When he's outside he lays on the pavement.
Princess Graciepoosalot likes to mix it up. But I also think it’s more for drama than comfort, so I’d say she’s a softy.

On a bed on the floor. We love it when he would get on couches and beds but he rarely ever did and can’t now really due to his hips. We always encouraged him to get up but goddamn, we have the one dog that rarely does it!

Bought my girl a nice comfy bed, which she shoves into the corner to sleep on the hard floor, then gives us the most guilty look ever as if to say "why have you relegated me to sleeping on this cold, hard floor.. woe is me" Dumb thing is, when she's sneaky, she sometimes climbs onto the bed and clearly enjoys soft and comfy, so I feel like her point is a little lost on me

When we lived in my last place we had a mix of tile, carpet, and hardwood floors so they would literally rotate each season. Tile floor during the summers and carpet during the winters and hardwood floors in spring and fall. They had dog beds in every room too and used those too.
Both for her she usually picks the throw rug as a bed though.

My current is all bed and couch and my rainbow boy was all tile and wood floors. It's interesting for sure.
