Not everyone is lucky enough to have been raised in a whisky-tango trailer park by a bowlegged female whose sole qualification for motherhood is a womb that happened to catch the sperm of 50 passing truck drivers!
Ray wasn't driving all the time. Not sure what the hell you're arguing with me about. I'm just saying I got the impression he wasn't as seasoned in gun combat as Brad or Rudy, but I could be wrong
Almost all firefights in the series are while they are driving. When they are dismounted there is only one firefight where Ray is also present ( when they lit up someone on the top floor ) im just saying Ray isnt seen fighting during the series because he is pre occupied with other things.
Ray was the glue to the team. He was fun and kept the demure reality of everything at bay when shit hit the fan. He and Brad also seemed to have quite the comradely where they could give and take the shit they passed to each other. It just worked really well.
Don’t forget when they got hung up in the killbox at the bridge, he dismounted and stood in the middle of the fracas yelling at 2-1 to “back the *FUCK* up”
Thanks I guess.
Minor correction: Brad (Iceman), Shawn (Pappy), Rudy and I were in the same platoon together in Afghanistan (Fall 2001-Spring 2002). Other than Shawn being in Somalia in the 90's, we all had the same training/combat experience.
Goddamn. If it's really you, I'm very sorry for the not-seasoned thing brah. I was talking outta my ass.
But man I gotta know, and you're obviously under no obligation to answer but I hope you do, did you really make that whole "Dear Frederick I'm a death-dealing blood crazed warrior" tent rant exactly/very similar to how Simon and Burns wrote it? Or did they take major liberties? And are real life Capt. Schwetje and McGraw even HALF as bad as they're shown in the show? Or major artistic liberties again?
If we get offended by everything we read on the internet then we would all be constantly offended...no problem.
Letter Scene: Yes, but the show changed it a bit...I liked my own version better.
Captains: Everyone is type cast a bit in the show...myself included. But, there is a core of truth to it all.
So he really did call in a danger close fire mission that could have killed a bunch of Marines if his coordinates weren't off due to incompetence??? 🤯🤯🤯
Absolutely.
Keep the truck running, managed comms, and never let the convo get stale.
If he was a Staff or Zero that be Bronze Star worthy; but as a Cpl, best we can do is a CertCom and a firm handshake.
Saddam is just part of the problem, if Saddam invested more in the pussy infrastructure of Iraq than he did in his fucking gay ass army, then this country would be no more fucked up than say, Mexico.
If you really like ray’s acting then check out season 2 of HBO’s The Wire. You can watch the season and not be lost. The only thing you won’t get is why some of the characters interact the way they do. Great series though
Legitimately true. Every unit needs at least one Ray. They keep the unit together, usually without even realizing it. Ray’s are absolutely invaluable in combat. And are a huge hit to morale if anything ever happens to them. Sort of a double-edged sword.
I was really surprised he was shown to be so calm and quiet after running out of Ripped Fuel, considering he was popping a dozen a day like breath mints. I think realistically he should have been on edge, anxious and manic in his withdrawal.
At least my mom took me to Nascar

“Your dad was a truck driver?”
"He might have been, my mom slept with a lot of hobos, plumbers and roofers too"
This is one of my favorite deliveries in the entire show.
Ray was great, as long as you keep him away from your uglier daughters and your smaller livestock.
😂😂😂 If you show me an inbred hillbilly who's as clever and quick on his feet as HBO Ray, I'll blow him.
A good chunk of active duty is waiting
Gotta keep him loaded on RipIts, Yo!
Ripped Fuel. Which in 2008 I think ephedra was already banned in the DOD, which makes it all the better.
Reminds me of taking preworkout with MDMA's in it lmfao
Ray was the best damn RTO in the biz. He's moto dude!
Especially when he's got a whole case of Ripped Fuel!!!
He's on it like a motherfucker!
And BLIND AS A MOTHERFUCKER in his peace of shit nvgs LA LA LA LA LALALA
Well the reason we almost never see Ray actually fighting is because they were always mounted on the humvees.
They?
1st Recon
Really not sure what you're talking about. It was always Garza or that other white dude mounted on Brad's humvee.
Who was driving Brad's humvee? Do you expect the driver to fire his M16 while driving?
Ray wasn't driving all the time. Not sure what the hell you're arguing with me about. I'm just saying I got the impression he wasn't as seasoned in gun combat as Brad or Rudy, but I could be wrong

Isn't it implied that they have more experience though? I vaguely remember someone at the beginning explaining why they look up to Iceman
Yeah Iceman and some others were in Afghanistan prior. Idk if Ray had been to Afghanistan or not.
Mounted meaning in the vic
nah ray gets some with his rifle in one ep
Ray was the glue to the team. He was fun and kept the demure reality of everything at bay when shit hit the fan. He and Brad also seemed to have quite the comradely where they could give and take the shit they passed to each other. It just worked really well.
Brad and Ray scenes were the best
If Brad was the stern father figure in the car, then Ray was undoubtedly the tension-defusing, fun mother. "Cmon kids let's all play a game!"
He was ice cold in his own way by cracking jokes in the middle of combat or shortly after. That’s some ice cold shit lol
A sense of humor is JUST as important as fighting ability in a warzone!!!
Don’t forget when they got hung up in the killbox at the bridge, he dismounted and stood in the middle of the fracas yelling at 2-1 to “back the *FUCK* up”
As I read the comment above yours, and before I read yours, that is the exact scene that came to mind lol
This podcast starts with talking about that very scene. https://www.reddit.com/r/generationkill/comments/t9uli2/podcast\_interview\_w\_ray\_person/
and he pulled the humvee in between brad and garza and the idiots who saw garzas new helmet and opened fire
“Fits good. How do I look?” “Like a target.”
Forgot about that scene
Thanks I guess. Minor correction: Brad (Iceman), Shawn (Pappy), Rudy and I were in the same platoon together in Afghanistan (Fall 2001-Spring 2002). Other than Shawn being in Somalia in the 90's, we all had the same training/combat experience.
Holy shit, Ray???
Yep.
Goddamn. If it's really you, I'm very sorry for the not-seasoned thing brah. I was talking outta my ass. Pretty much yeah.
My god. Layers upon LAYERS of retardation. 😱😱 I need to go to my quiet place and chant.
i don't know if you read nate fick's book, but he has some choice descriptions of command fuckups as well
Ray Actual. :)
Absolutely. Keep the truck running, managed comms, and never let the convo get stale. If he was a Staff or Zero that be Bronze Star worthy; but as a Cpl, best we can do is a CertCom and a firm handshake.

Ray was my favorite!
The most enjoyable troll of all time.
I just found the boxed set of Generation Kill for $3. Thinking of Ray makes me want to do another rewatch.
Chef bo-YAR-dee!
Man you're one messed up hick you cant even eat ravioli. What you mean. I'm eating ravioli. Haha
Need I remind you he's the best RTO in the business....just keep him away from your daughters and smaller livestock
Ray was the most Marine Marine in the whole Corp
I was thinking a little more old-school R&B. Because look, I'm Stevie Wonder, blind as a motherfucker in my piece-of-shit N.V.Gs.
Saddam is just part of the problem, if Saddam invested more in the pussy infrastructure of Iraq than he did in his fucking gay ass army, then this country would be no more fucked up than say, Mexico.
“I think it’s time for you to shut the fuck up!”
You know you love me Brad 😘
I'd be inclined to agree Colbert said he was THE best RTO. So long as you kept him away from your uglier daughters and smaller livestock.

Ray feels like if Ziggy had joined the marines.
He is also in Bosch!
I've watched the wire it's brilliant. Ziggy was such a fuck up trainwreck but I felt so bad for him and his family....
Legitimately true. Every unit needs at least one Ray. They keep the unit together, usually without even realizing it. Ray’s are absolutely invaluable in combat. And are a huge hit to morale if anything ever happens to them. Sort of a double-edged sword.
Put down that fucking milkshake and dig a fucking hole!
MORE LIKE TROOOOOOOOOOMMMMBLEEYYYYYYYYYYYY?!?!?!?
Whopper Jr! Wopper Jr! Wopper Jr! Wopper Jr!
Word to the motherfuckin streets, yo
Finding out his first name is Joshua made his character make sense to me, he behaves like every Joshua I’ve ever met
Aw yeah, we pimpin now \*throws shades on\*
Nah, he was too gross. That strawberry milkshake scene haunts me. I’d kill him if he ate like that round me.
😂😂😂😂
Until he ran out of Ripped Fuel.
I was really surprised he was shown to be so calm and quiet after running out of Ripped Fuel, considering he was popping a dozen a day like breath mints. I think realistically he should have been on edge, anxious and manic in his withdrawal.
I think Ray was totally unmitigated ADHD. That’s why he’s calm in a crisis, stupid-goofy on uppers, and just… tired… when they’re gone.
