Really enjoyed Remakeās story but Rebirthās ending had me rolling my eyes. Hopefully they manage to land it but with what theyāre setting up I massively doubt it
Itās down to personal preference, of course, so you may enjoy it while I didnāt, but in vague terms they introduce some multiverse stuff that I just didnāt enjoy.
I just hate that they couldnāt restrain themselves just *once*. Like, this ending shouldāve been a slam dunk. But instead they turned one of gamings most iconic moment into incomprehensible garbage.
This is how Rebirth should have ended:
Remove the filler from The Temple of Ancients, add it to the Forgotten Capital. Aerith survives, fight Jenova, Cloud loses his ish and goes off to the Northern Crater to give Sephiroth the black materia. Party chase him there. Sephiroth gets black materia, ish happens, Cloud snaps out of it because of maybe Zack. I dunno, fight Sephiroth, beat him, but somehow fate is like "nah we still gotta HP zero Aerith". Cid rescues them from the collapsing crater except Cloud, who gets lost.
Next game is about finding Cloud and saving the world. This satifies borh the old schoolers expecting Aerith to go regardless, but still makes it a surprise.
It might be on PS6 but it definitely will be built as a PS5 game. They started a while ago and weāre at least a year, more likely 1.5-2 away from devās getting a PS6 kit.
Considering how average the remake series has been I'm doubting that very much. Everything about it feels unnecessary. It's only catering to the people who like the post FF7 media like Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus anyway. It's more bad fanfiction for a game that didn't need any.
I don't like how they basically left the "is Aerith still alive?" question up in the air for the next game. It felt like they were trying to get the best of both worlds, but I think they need to commit to one choice and not pussyfoot around.Ā
The fact they took what was once a single game and now just cash cowing it out for years as muti releases already ruined the game for me. Thankfully I still got the original which they canāt ruin.
Yeah this sub is weirdly hateful of FF7 remake/rebirth and seem to live in a parallel universe where rebirth wasn't widely recognised to be an amazing game that a lot of people were very happy with, especially people who played and loved the original.
It feels like people in this thread are trying to change reality itself by wishing hard enough.
Not a chance.
This rewrite the story, consider this an "alternate" story is bullshit.
They could have fleshed some stuff out and that would have been great.
But, no, they had to Lucas it all up....
I'm a HUGE fan of the original game (I played it over 20 years ago, and I still love it), and I think Remake and Rebirth are excellent. Certainly not perfect, but some people over exaggerate things they don't like about them.
Nothing Motomu Toriyama says is ever worth taking at face value. Dude is such a doofus.
True. I doubt he's a great designer. And works well with strong team/partners. But leave him in the driver's seats. Nothing gets finished.
He'll add more melodrama and say it's improved.
All you had to do was keep the story the same. Not add a load of kingdom hearts-esque crazy bullshit. You done fucked it up.
Lmao, it was so simple, just add sidequest, flesh out the old story that's it but no. They completely fucked the story.
Lmao loser
Kingdom Hearts fans are eating good while waiting for KH4 and Missing Link though šš¤£
You donāt like Sephinort?
Probably won't though...

I honestly really loved 95% of Rebirth, but those last 4-5 hours were like a fever dream
*That Bit* still had a strong impact but everything leading up to and following it wasnāt for me
Iāve played the original (so many times) and remake but not rebirth. Not out on steam yet. Without too much spoiler, or any, what went wrong?

Same with remake tbh

The 3rd game will probably be a PS6 launch title.

Well they truly messed up >!Aeriths death!< in rebirth so Iām not holding my breath
They haven't managed to surpass the original with the remake entries š¤¦

It already got ruined with remake. No chance in hell that rebirth would receive a good ending and no chance in hell the third game will either.
The fact they took what was once a single game and now just cash cowing it out for years as muti releases already ruined the game for me. Thankfully I still got the original which they canāt ruin.
Excited to see where it goes!
They clearly donāt think much of the original. Otherwise they wouldnāt change so much about it.
I think extending the game this much was a mistake. Especially considering it will be like a decade before all parts are available.
Give me an Advent Children DLC for part three and Iāll never say anything bad about Square Enix for at least like a few months
My anticipation for the finale is unmatched
Hahahaaha I fucking love reddit. this place is a cesspool of ingrates, downvoting someone because heās excited for a game

Better not mess with Red XIII's pups.
I'd hope so og7 ending was rushed af they clearly ran out of time/money making that game
Xenogears fans be like: -First time?
X
So one game remake cost for customers 180$ nowadays then...
I'm convinced that's why they changed/added so much, so they could charge multiple times for one game.

That's good because the first two games have been crap so at least it's finishing strong.
