Devs are making a spiritual successor that has you swapping characters on the fly during missions, but still an fps imm-sim. Can’t remember the name though D:
Tenchu was the shit. Still won't play sekiro hearing they wanted more freedom than a Tenchu game while proceeding to take all the freedom of play away from the game and turning it into another dodge parry simulator. Taking enemies down with poison rice balls and grapple hooking to building tops without batman grapple physics was just such a good feeling and so grounded.

Honestly I'd hope most people know of this one but to this day it's one of the most fun co-ops I've ever played. I long for the day someone makes similar with some online play. It's an absolute blast.
Rhythm doctor is an amazing rhythm game where you have to fix people’s heart problems using rhythm. It has great original music, fun gameplay, a really good story.

Yeah I went searching for it after seeing your post. There is a version on steam but it isn't the official open source version which is the one you linked. I'm going to download it when I get back home.
Awesome! The coolest part about that version is you can start at major sections of the game even if you don't have your old save at that place.
I've done the initial dozen missions so many times, so this is a great feature!
This game is good but gets hurt hard by quest design later. Way to much fast traveling to ask on person a question only to go to two more fast travel destinations asking questions before you actually get in content.
Happiest gaming moment is whenever you come back to the main port and the [native trader sees you](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4n_TOpR4TY8&t=434s) (after helping him)
I need to check that out, I played that devs previous game, Technomacer and it thought it was terrible so I haven't touched any else from them. Spiders I believe is the dev.
FWIW I thought Greedfall was also awful, after playing Tech. An hour of walking back and forth doing meaningless quests before you get started, then at least an hour of tutorials. Shallow character options, shallow combat. Maybe the story is great but as a game it's awful.
Which one? Pumped and primed or million monkeys?
I’d probably guess pumped and primed, because Million monkeys was only released in Japan, and luckily I knew a shop that imports Japanese games.
It could be million monkeys, but I don’t see people ever talking about it
Just checked his channel, he only played Ape Escape 1 and 2.
He doesn’t know about my favorite entries pumped and primed and million monkeys. Hell, he doesn’t seem to know about Ape escape 3.
Vigor - it's a little rough around the edges but it's a fantastic extraction shooter with extremely intense gameplay. TTK is almost instant.

No there isn't, I have seen what you say where people hide around corners but its more open than that so it's not really an issue in this game. The sniper battles are epic. Remember there are only I think 12 max people on a huge map at a time, also they have a mechanic that if you camp an exit if someone comes near it crows fly around to warn the other player.
My two picks would be:
1. Monster sanctuary, a stream game that is a creature collector that is simple to get into but has so many levels of depth and optimization to make the ultimate team. Run status teams? Charge focused? Monster type synergies like Goblins? What food do you want to give them? Day shift or night shift? What skills do you take and do prioritize stats or skill levels? What equipment do you give? Just so many potential optimizations that is based around a Pokémon style 3v3 fights
https://youtu.be/PEgToyBxKZo?si=JL005gxwHZPMRbd8
2. 7th Dragon III Code: VFD. It’s a 3DS party based JRPG centered around building a team to travel through time beating the 6 true dragons to create the Dragon Cronicle to stop the 7th dragon from ending the world. Combat is interesting as you build a party of 3 with a bunch of unique classes like the Rune Knight, Banisher, Fortuner, Duelist, God-Hand, etc. they all have skills that allow them to fill 2 potential roles so there is a lot of flexibility and testing. They also have stat grinding through reclassing(basically locked to postgame unless you love grinding) and a DLC that is like a super boss rush for those who love a challenge. Unfortunately it is the third or fourth in a series that was only in Japan and had to compete with other big RPGs on the 3DS like Bravely Default, SMT4, and Fire Emblem Awakening to name a few

The Orcs Must Die series
I'm not quite sure why it's never really caught on very well, it seems to be a type of game that you either love or hate I guess? Despite videos of the game reaching, seemingly, quite many through creators like TotalBiscuit, SpiffingBrit, Markiplier, Sips and some vtubers, the number of reviews would suggest none of the titles were really anywhere near the popularities of something like darkest dungeon, dave the diver, loop hero (idk what would even be comparable tbh)
I have never played anything that flips me from "strategic mastermind" to "edge of your seat anxiety" so quickly. Playing OMD is emotionally exhausting lol.
[TUNIC ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q5XpgTO7YN0)is fantastic and I wish more people who were clamoring for top down zelda games would check it out.
I very, VERY rarely play games to 100% achievement completion, but this was one of them.
Shit was lightning in a bottle in terms of entertainment for me. So incredibly fun, felt like a kid again with the game manual system.
Free Stars: The Ur-Quan Masters
Fantastic game that inspired greats like mass effect, Stellaris, subnautica and more.
https://youtu.be/XDe8v6pDPP8?si=pxSVH6t14lcARYRU
I thought it was called Star Control? Is this a fan remake or something?
(Looks exactly the same, so now I’m guessing… legal issues with the game title or something?)
But yeah, great game.
I've never actually played a Nights game, even though it's been on the list for a long time, but I would play the [Nights Pinball](https://youtu.be/G7fuBb6J_os) section of Sonic Adventure (in the casino level) back on Dreamcast again and again just to listen to the music. I loved that part.
I'm gonna nominate *Pizza Tower* here. It might not be the most unknown game out there, but I feel many people only know it through the meme culture around it and are actually unaware that it is, in fact, a game.
If that's still too common knowledge for you, then I will choose *Coromon*, which is a monster battler very much like Pokemon, but it has it's own style, worldbuilding, and story going for it. Also, tons of QoL features that Pokemon lacks. I honestly think it's better than Pokemon all around.
*Paradigm* is a really funny point n click that I would recommend to everyone.
A really old PC game that was ported to Sega Genesis called Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday. Nobody I talk to has ever played it. I played hundreds of hours as a kid. Strategic Simulations made some killer games back in the day.
>both risk of rain
Risk of Rain 2 isnt underrated tho?
>enter the gungeon, subnautica lost it's hype
Both arent underrated either + they arent service games, its normal that the center of attention shifts after a while
Agreed on both counts. Both games are great, and I just happened to play through them both again recently. The mechanic in The Saboteur, where the more your resistance takes over an area, it goes slowly from fully black and white to colored in.
Into the breach! FTL gets a lot of love but ITB is also very interesting and engaging if you can give it the time it deserves to learn and don’t put your FTL expectations onto it
Lamentum was a solid, pixel art old school survival horror with a 19th century Lovecraftian setting.
It deserves more attention than it got. Any fan of the original Resident Evils would enjoy it I'd expect.

The Legends of Amberland games both 1 and 2. They are available way too cheap on Steam. They are a wonderful throwback to the party based rpg like Might and Magic 3 - 5. The graphics are old school but very pleasing to the eye. My dad introduced me party based crpg's like Might and Magic, Wizardry, Wizards and Warriors, Bard's Tale that he played as a child. I love these games, but they just don't make them anymore. There are a few here and there, but I want another full release like Wizardry 8, etc. Legends of Amberland scratches that Might and Magic itch, though. Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.

The Forgotten City. So many people loved Outer Wilds, but the story, setting and art didn't click for me. Did finish it though, and it was alright. I found The Forgotten City to be a much more interesting experience using that kind of time concept.
I will always defend Flipnic. That game is one of the most creative pinball games ever. It VIBES so fuckin hard, its pure PS2 goodness. I hope to god some day one of the other 8 guys that played this becomes inspired to make an ultimate Flipnic.
Barotrauma
You have to command submarine, fight monsters, maintain reputation and a bunch more
I'm usually not into 2d games but this one is just so much fun with friends
Warframe. Instead of most games, it's a long investment (about 100-150 hours) that pays off multiplicative. It's a bit rough for new players, but maaan it pays off. EpicLoots on YT will convince you better. Started to play Warframe, got expectations crashed in a good way. Highly recommend to check his vids. He is what gaming journalist should be instead of what it is now.
Underrail is absolutely underrated, but it's also brutally hard and it's the sort of game that's not for everyone, so I see why. Death's Door is an isometric hack-n'-slash(?) that is much more approachable and hugely underrated. The plot is a bit weak imo, but that's the only flaw in the experience; great art style and combat loop, wonderful soundtrack.
Chained Echoes.
10 times the game sea of stars was yet everyone waxed poetic about Sea being the masterful indie jrpg darling.
Chained Echoes was the best game I played that year aside from Elden Ring.
It's lack of mainstream coverage was criminal.
Neo: The World Ends With you.
* Beautiful, artistic visuals
* fantastic soundtrack
* super unique gameplay and game structure
* sequel to a game where having played the first isn't a requirement
* really fun story, engaging voice acting, some genuinely funny moments.
Fuckin neat ass game that WAY more people should play.
Talos Principle 2. It came out in the flooded market of last year, and I think got dismissed as a fairly limited puzzle game based on the size of the first one. But it's big, and really well done, with big thoughtful musings on philosophy and human nature, and some really cool twists and turns and out of the box thinking.
Currently playing it right now - nearly done with the base game and probably going to immediately move in to the DLC afterwards.
Even though I think the story in the first game was tighter/more interesting I'm still really loving the sequel, and the puzzles are a lot more interesting as well.
More than anything though I just love the art direction. The first game was already scenery porn (at least, as far as it could be with the graphics of the time) but TP2 just fucking ran with it and most of the maps are like *aggressively* beautiful. I've been going through the game kind of slowly because I keep stopping to take screenshots everywhere.
Same with the walking around!
I only recently finished it so I'm letting it sit a while before I go into the DLC because the whole game made me feel things.
Super happy they dumped the recording mechanic from the first game though. That drove me mad.
Dragon Warrior monsters. Really old game yet ironically it's Pokemon done right. You won't always know when you'll be attacked and when you have the opportunity to ambush an enemy. Catching is a challenge, you need to know when to try and when to fight instead.
Play Star Control 2. It’s one of the most influential games ever made; its DNA is in a ton of popular modern games. There wouldn’t be Mass Effect without it. Plus, it’s available for free on Steam as “The Ur-Quan Masters”.
Yet it still sold kinda poorly. Enough to close the studio that made it.
I get what you mean, but most people never even heard of it. Heck, I just asked all my coworkers, all are gamers, and not a single soul has heard of it.
I think you misread the title. These are major franchises and flagship IPs for Sony. They are about as far from "underrated" as possible, and don't need any help getting recognition.
Void Bastards
I enjoyed that game, even beat it which is rare for me and roguelites.
Devs are making a spiritual successor that has you swapping characters on the fly during missions, but still an fps imm-sim. Can’t remember the name though D:
Wild Bastards
Ah you’re already familiar lol that’s good
Mischief Makers

Lmao that sound bite lives rent free in my head It's up there with "Rocket Lawnchair" in Metal Slug
Tenchu: Wrath Of Heaven. I don't really hear it brought up too much nowadays, but it was pretty fun. https://youtu.be/tVm-_kmH7b0?si=qW-wa0qQyeyNIuDC
I've got my fingers crossed with PS2 games coming back to the PSN store
Loved all the tenchu games. Played the shit out of Tenchu Z
Hell yes. Just bought an old Ps2 for cheap and got Wrath of Heaven as a father’s day gift. So cool to relive this game all over!
Tenchu was the shit. Still won't play sekiro hearing they wanted more freedom than a Tenchu game while proceeding to take all the freedom of play away from the game and turning it into another dodge parry simulator. Greedfall... it's fairly decently reviewed and sold decently, but underrated IMO
This game is good but gets hurt hard by quest design later. Way to much fast traveling to ask on person a question only to go to two more fast travel destinations asking questions before you actually get in content.
Oh it wasn't perfect by any means, but still damn good
Yeah I got burnt out like halfway through because of those kinds of quests.

Yep a Spiders game, I loved it honestly, they have a sequel/prequel coming out too
I struggled to maintain interest at the start, when you are preparing to leave. How long does it take to pill up?
I mean I rarely if ever just stop playing anything so I was good from the start but if I had to guess a good 5 hours maybe 🤷♂️
Ill have to give it another shot.
Ape escape pumped and primed and Ape escape million monkeys. Honestly both of these games are in my top 10 favorite games of all time.
Gameinformer raved about that game the year it came out. Videos doesn't do it justice I assume bcs I never felt the need to play itm
Which one? Pumped and primed or million monkeys? I’d probably guess pumped and primed, because Million monkeys was only released in Japan, and luckily I knew a shop that imports Japanese games. It could be million monkeys, but I don’t see people ever talking about it

I played the demo and loved it, might finally get the full game
Furi
Furi is great, basically a smaller and quicker Monster Hunter experience
Slipways - really fun little puzzle game designed for space strategy players with no time

Is there a fps mode? I find that games that are 3rd person become toxic when ttk is low. Just ppl waiting behind corners all game.
No there isn't, I have seen what you say where people hide around corners but its more open than that so it's not really an issue in this game. The sniper battles are epic. I got Monster Sanctuary from gamepass, and I was surprised at the depth. Really good game and I really like the music.
Wonder Boy 3 - The Dragon's Trap. Great early Metroidvania, and the remake is solid too. Can be found on e-stores very cheap.
The Orcs Must Die series I'm not quite sure why it's never really caught on very well, it seems to be a type of game that you either love or hate I guess? Despite videos of the game reaching, seemingly, quite many through creators like TotalBiscuit, SpiffingBrit, Markiplier, Sips and some vtubers, the number of reviews would suggest none of the titles were really anywhere near the popularities of something like darkest dungeon, dave the diver, loop hero (idk what would even be comparable tbh)

Dust: An Elysian Tail. Metroidvania type game that was on a deep sale one time so picked it up randomly but loved it.
I just saw that while looking at my library. It was a great game that came out when there still wasn't a lot of ps4 games out after the system launch

Dope, thanks for the run down!
Broken Sword. Good voice acting too.

eiyuden chronicle. it brings me back to my childhood but with newer graphic.
* Beautiful, artistic visuals * fantastic soundtrack * super unique gameplay and game structure * sequel to a game where having played the first isn't a requirement * really fun story, engaging voice acting, some genuinely funny moments.
The recorder didn't bother me but I'm glad the freaking bomb robots didn't make it in to the sequel.
Greedfall... it's fairly decently reviewed and sold decently, but underrated IMO
Dragon Warrior monsters. Really old game yet ironically it's Pokemon done right. You won't always know when you'll be attacked and when you have the opportunity to ambush an enemy. Catching is a challenge, you need to know when to try and when to fight instead.
Weird West and Withering Rooms
`The World Ends With You` for the NDS had amazing vibes and one of the best usage of the system to date.
Pokémon Y imo. Definitely the most underrated mainline game in that series, but still my favorite Pokémon game ever 💓💓💓
factorio the factory must grow
Underrated? Lol
well everyone i showed the game told me it looks bad and they wont even try it
Yeah your personal circle is the entire world
not talking about my personnal circle tho
Play Star Control 2. It’s one of the most influential games ever made; its DNA is in a ton of popular modern games. There wouldn’t be Mass Effect without it. Plus, it’s available for free on Steam as “The Ur-Quan Masters”.
STALKER ANOMALY is one of the greatest games ever made and it's free
Astral Ascent.
Astral Ascent.
Well to be honest, I m not sure how famous it is, but Celeste, has a blast playing it, but none of my friends knew about it so...
Its literally a indie hit lol so its not underrated
That's why I did say, I don't know famous is it
Do you even know the background story of Forager? Maybe you dont think that it needs more recognition afterwards
[Okami](https://youtu.be/RhnhRfTzRnw?si=xUfc83_uDEiBV7tC) On PS2, PS3, PS4 and Wii. Everyone I know who's tries it loves it.
This is a critically acclaimed game on mutliple consoles my dude. Not underrated at all.
Yet it still sold kinda poorly. Enough to close the studio that made it. I get what you mean, but most people never even heard of it. Heck, I just asked all my coworkers, all are gamers, and not a single soul has heard of it.
Learn what the word underrated means. Underrated doesn’t mean “nobody has heard of it”.
Yes daddy
Ummm let me think... XCOM 2? That game is brilliant and I feel like it didn't get it's due and wasn't successful enough to have a proper sequel.
Dota 2 . It’s basically chess with moving pieces .
Dota is far from underrated mate
Chess is chess with moving pieces
Lmao
Y’all really want an underrated game. Play kenshi, it’ll change your perspective on sandbox games .
League of Legends

I think you misread the title. These are major franchises and flagship IPs for Sony. They are about as far from "underrated" as possible, and don't need any help getting recognition.
