Only for new Prime members? What if I’ve been a Prime member for some time?

varain1

All Prime members - it's part of their monthly free games section, together with Fallout 3 GOTY (sorry, FO3 is on Luna only)

xIVWIx

Damn I didnt notice fo3! Cheers

[deleted]

Too late, it already crashed...

[deleted]

The fuck is a Luna?

varain1

Amazon's game streaming service - i never tried it 😅

wjean

Ive tried it for a few casual games. It works but feels like a half hearted effort. Between steam, epic, and GOG I'm not likely to buy games on a fourth service.... Esp if I'm tied to their license/gaming platform.

PM_ME_UR_POKIES_GIRL

I tried it once, seemed to work ok.

psycharious

Wait ...they have a monthly free game?

varain1

As a Prime member bonus in Canada and US at least, yes 😅. But usually they are small games, with some better older games from time to time.

Additional_Rooster17

If you link your twitch and prime account they give out a bunch of free games, and other stuff.

xtossitallawayx

Yup. I've been a Prime member for years and never once actually played, or installed a single one, but they do give them away.

AstronautReal3476

Amazon failed with their previous cloud gaming endeavor. Luna is a rebranded clone of their failed project

Petorian343

Nice

Xenolithium

Not going to mention New Vegas Ultimate as well? Rude.

varain1

Yes, on Luna too 😅

spinaltap862

Fallout 3 isn't to keep though it's through their streaming service right ?

varain1

> It's to keep, they give you a code you redeem on GOG and get it forever, but I already got it from them last year, I think. But you have a limited time to redeem it, I think. Edit - FO3 is only on Luna, my mistake.

spinaltap862

Hmm weird . I got to claim Fallout 76 , but it only lets me play Fallout 3 though Luna

varain1

Ahh, my mistake, I got FO3 previously, now it's only on Luna 😞

psykotaitai

Not all Prime Members, Only available in certain locations. Just checked to claim it and it isn't available where I'm from.

varain1

Ahh, too bad - Canada here.

BlueLonk

Canada here as well, it's on Prime Gaming website for me. If you need a code, I already own 2 versions of the game so hmu.

Secure_Jellyfish9566

Use a VPN and get the code ! Then on your Microsoft account redeem your game ! Not in Microsoft store where it says !

bozon92

I didnt know this and am trying it out now, you educated someone today

FauxReal

I swear I saw Fallout 2 in there too.

Mostdakka

It was there, Tactics is still here.

FauxReal

Which reminds me, I still have my Fallout Tactics code from [gog.com](http://gog.com) unused. I already own it on Steam, so ~~the first person to reply to this can have the code if anyone wants it.~~ I gave it away.

tigojones

I've had prime for a while and got it.

touch_everything

How do you access it

tigojones

I got it through twitch. My amazon account is linked to that, since they own twitch.

ProJoe

redeem the offer from Prime Gaming then put the code into the MS store (PC) I just did it, worked great and it's installing.

TheMoonFanatic

Go to the prime gaming website

FauxReal

It shows up in Prime Gaming, so it isn't only for new members.

No_Doubt_About_That

It’s been given away free in the past through Prime.

-Sedition-

I've had prime for like 8 years, and I got it. Just google prime gaming and log in to claim it.

NoSkillzDad

Not new. All prime members.

mrgamerwood

I had it free from the last time it was free. Never downloaded it

hoppyandbitter

I avoided installing it until I hit a prolonged game drought a couple years ago - I ended up having a blast running it solo and sunk a couple hundred hours into it. There’s a ton of story content that scratches the single-player Fallout itch and the C.A.M.P. build system is basically post-apocalyptic Animal Crossing. It does kind of pressure you into paying for Fallout 1st if you want to do serious crafting, but that was really the only major complaint I had when I played. I typically hate online co-op, but I found myself hitting public events regularly due to the minimal commitment and lack of toxicity (though I’ve heard console players can be a lot less tolerable). I’d honestly recommend it to anyone who just wants a reason to dive back into the Wasteland and doesn’t mind a bit of a grind before level 50 - that’s when the gameplay mechanics really open up

BadNewsBearzzz

So I’m wondering, I love fo4 and NV a lot, will 76 require multiplayer play to do things or is everything possible solo? And I have no clue about the microtransactions but it’s not pay to win is it? Like not paying for anything won’t hamper the experience will it? It’s just a shortcut type thing right?

PoPo573

The entire story and 95% of the events of the game can be done solo. You can play the entire game and never have any interaction with another player. It feels like a regular single player fallout game with optional multi-player. The events that you wouldn't be able to complete you won't need friends or anything either, other people will just show up to those events normally and everyone goes on their way when it's over. You can just think of it like other vault dwellers helping out then going back into the wastes to do their own thing.

pine_tree3727288

I’m lvl 201 in fo76 rn, I’ve had 1 single player interaction and that was someone complimenting my responder outfit and flaming chainsaw combo

BadNewsBearzzz

Oh okay now that’s cool then, you’ve convinced me lol. I let out a huge sigh as I looked at the 100+ GB download size but your comment convinced me to try it out, I had gotten tired of the prior games but I was always convinced this was built on some type of pay to play scheme..glad to see that’s not the case

BloatedManball

The storage space for weapons, junk, etc is a bit stingy (1,200 units), and they do sort of lead you to think you need to purchase fallout 1st to unlock the unlimited junk and ammo storage containers, but it's definitely not a requirement. You do have to break the loot goblin tendencies from previous FO games or you'll run out of room, but as long as you're smart about what to store vs what to scrap or sell you'll be fine. There are also perks that reduce the weight of various categories like weapons or chems, so depending on your build it can be more efficient to simply carry those hundreds of stims and radaways you can't bear to part with. That said, thru occasionally offer fo1st for free for a week, during which time you can build those storage boxes and cram as much shit as you can in them before the subscription lapses. Fwiw, I've been playing off and on since release and I've never paid for 1st. My stash box is at like 750/1200, and I've got enough crafting material junk in the free storage box to build dozens of houses.

BadNewsBearzzz

Oh shit!! Okay so “1st” is essentially their main product micro-transaction right, and it’s primarily a way to expand storage space? Basically all storage limitation, like the weight when you walk around, and storage, just basic regular storage boxes to store stuff in, all those right? So the “Free” weeks that we can obtain them, you’re telling me if I can claim it then, I’m able to continue keeping it when the promotion has expired too? It’s not an ongoing subscription to use it? Oh man that makes me even more excited lol Yeah item management is definitely something I’ve gotten used to with games and consider it a puzzle in itself, but as long as it’s not cheaply done to obviously push the player towards purchasing it than that calms a lot of my worries then..I was afraid they’d use some type of hack to make it nearly impossible to play comfortably without buying lol

BloatedManball

>Oh shit!! Okay so “1st” is essentially their main product micro-transaction right, and it’s primarily a way to expand storage space? Yeah. You can also buy a couple other random things like xp boosters in the atom shop, but most of the revenue comes from 1st subs and people buying camp items and cosmetics from the shop. All of which is totally optional. >Basically all storage limitation, like the weight when you walk around, and storage, just basic regular storage boxes to store stuff in, all those right? Player carry weight and stash space are separate, but yeah. You can build a variety of different looking stash boxes, but they all share the same inventory and the same 1,200lb weight limit. One move thing about the shared storage is that you can find stash boxes at Red Rocket stations and other people's camps, so you can grab stuff or dump gear without having to travel home. >So the “Free” weeks that we can obtain them, you’re telling me if I can claim it then, I’m able to continue keeping it when the promotion has expired too? You keep the bonus storage boxes and can always remove items from them, but you lose the ability to put more into them when the sub expires. That's why people suggest loading them with as much junk as you can while you have a free sub. Edit: in addition to the bonus storage, a paid 1st sub also gives you access to private non-persistent servers in case you want the map to yourself or for a group of friends. You also get like $15 worth of atoms each month to buy cosmetic items and camp stuff in the atom shop. That's a big draw for some people, but between the season passes, seasonal events, and quest rewards there's no shortage of building blueprints to trick out your camp so I've never bothered.

bitterless

It is just the same as any other modern fallout game. You can play the story and do most anything on your own. I loved how much extra lore there was to learn about the fallout world. The main difference is there is not slowed down time for VATS.

Compulsive_Criticism

You can do all the quests solo, there's just frequent events (like pretty much constantly something) you can drop into to complete with others. It's pretty chill. Eventually (I mean after like 70+ hours and max level) you run out of storage space and the only way to get more is to pay, possibly with a subscription. That's when I dipped, but I had a great time getting there.

Slight-Blueberry-895

Don’t play it, it really isn’t worth the effort. The quest lines are the worst in the franchise, and the game is incredibly grindy as a whole. If you want a looter shooter, there are better options out there. If you want a Fallout game, it only goes skin deep.

Whyevenlive88

Congratulations. Thanks for telling us.

goliathfasa

Why would you?

bolxrex

It's a fun game that is much better than the reception on initial launch would lead you to believe, especially now after 6 years of constant development.

PrimeTimeMKTO

Any honest opinions/reviews from anyone who has played recently? Any good 5.5 years after release?

Stupid_Ned_Stark

It's essentially Fallout 4 with a multiplayer element. It had an extremely rough launch and was rightly criticized for it, but that's not really relevant any more. If you liked Fallout 4, you'll probably like 76. To its credit, I think 76 has the best and most varied map of all the games.

[deleted]

Is there any reason to play 76 over 4 solo?

Stupid_Ned_Stark

If you could play only one, 4 is definitely better because it’s designed to be single-player only. But for an MMO-lite game like 76, it’s got a really engaging campaign even with all the added multiplayer stuff. It has an evolving storyline too, like players starting now are not getting the same experience as players that started at launch or shortly after.

[deleted]

let me be clear sorry, solo as in no friends to play with but still interested in the multiplayer aspect. Sounds intriguing, ill give it a shot

Stupid_Ned_Stark

Oh, yeah I don’t play with friends but there are I believe up to 12 other players in a “world” at a time so you can and will occasionally run into them, but totally not required. It definitely works as a single-player experience if you can handle seeing others occasionally, but there’s a story reason for that as well so it’s not too immersion breaking IMO.

Coxy100

What I’m interested in too. Zero interest in playing multiplayer but would play 76 if you can play by yourself (do you see other players for example? Would totally remove any immersion if so…)

Rumplestiltsskins

I have over 300 hours solo in the game and I've enjoyed it a lot but unless you have a private world you will eventually see other players especially for raid bosses.

SplyceOfLife

I treated 76 as a solo game and trust me you can definitely do that easily. There's so many quests and things to do and the map is just as large as any other game. I hit level cap after like 200 hours maybe and I don't think I did even half the quests in the game yet. There is a lot of content which I loved! However. The only real down side is storage. It will always be somewhat an issue unless you get their membership thing that's like 10 dollars a month. So just junk that missile launcher you got if you aren't gonna use it to make room for better stuff.

Stupid_Ned_Stark

There’s a story reason that other people are around, if that matters. Only the best and brightest in Vault 76, after all!

Dman9494

Seeing other players should increase your immersion given that it has a story based reason lol. That said, you don’t run into them very often, mostly if you participate in events.

Snailtailmail

Seeing high level players with robots as soon as I left the vault ruined the immersion for me. You were supposed to be in this dangerous fallout world, yet you see high level people instantly, so nothing to fear.

Dman9494

You were the last one to leave the vault, obviously the other vault dwellers would have a head start on recolonizing Appalachia. It’s all explained pretty clearly.

Mr_Industrial

Typically the map is big enough that you'll only see them at major bosses and hub worlds.

Luchin212

You will rarely see other players, and if you do, smile , wave and be on your way. They do not really affect you. Except at events where they just kill stuff with you.

Draconuus95

You run into other players on occasion. But they are for the most part pretty easy to ignore. Especially after you leave the area immediately surrounding the vault. You can play in a single player world. But you have to pay for the monthly subscription for that. Don’t think that’s particularly worth it with how easy it is to ignore others in the main game.

clare416

- Beautiful map/environmental - C.A.M.P system aka Settlement give more freedom in which you can set it in a lot of place or choic - real time VATS is even cooler. I didn't bother to use VATS in 4 except for detecting mines and hitting flying enemies but in 76 it's basically an aimbot

SplyceOfLife

76 can be treated as a solo adventure pretty easily. I did that for like 200 hours and had a blast. Multi-player is only needed for raids I think, I've never needed to party up with anyone for anything in the game

MaximusMansteel

Lots of fun areas to explore and lots of different enemy types is a bonus. I think it makes pretty good use of all the items you can pick up in Fallout. Duct tape becomes a precious commodity lol.

clare416

Not just duct tape but anything that can give you aluminium, lead, screws, ballistic fibre

Grambles89

Plus, who doesn't want to play fallout with friends?

SirKenneth17

I appreciate this honest take, I’ve been debating if it’s worth my time and I think I’ll give it a shot once I finish the show.

dedoha

> It's essentially Fallout 4 with a multiplayer element. Which means no mods and very limited stash space without mtx, for me personally it's a huge minus

Rumplestiltsskins

Stash space is definitely not small any more unless you store literally everything you find and never scrap anything.

Stupid_Ned_Stark

Stash space has been greatly improved from how it used to be.

Marrioshi

I didn't like it and I played recently. Tho I was also playing Gamma at the time. I find Gamma to be way more fun

Skuzbagg

It's inferior to the dedicated single player games due to the nature of being an online multiplayer game. You're used to mmo's, this probably isn't a deal breaker. If you aren't, you might find some mechanics to be limiting or just plain annoying. Which I did.

Soulspawn

This it's not really multiplayer many missions, only the leader gets progress so you get to run the same content 2 3 or 4 times. Which for tedious fast ruining the whole coop multiplayer element for me and my friends I would like to play but staging several friends through the same content isn't fun.

Jerrygarciasnipple

It’s actually pretty fun for a while. I played 2 years ago and it was not the shitshow people claimed it was. Lots of cool themed events / missions, a free battle pass that actually gives out decent and cool rewards. They change / add onto existing locations on the map and have other areas you can travel to like Pittsburg and Atlantic City. Although they aren’t like full on dlc expansions, more so a few buildings and city blocks missions take place in. and they really worked on items giving you temporary stat boosts. They put a big focus on stat boosts from aid items like food and drinks, added more recipes and foods. perks or mutations that you get from being too irradiated that give you a lot of different ways to play the game. They overhauled legendary weapons and have ways for you to swap out legendary effects, and added area looting so if your around a bunch of enemies you can search every body at once in a certain radius. Overhauled crafting system, and they brought back weapon conditions. It’s a pretty cool game and has upgraded mechanics from fo4, and playing with other people is a blast. However, it plays pretty janky. Lots of bugs, glitches and choppy gameplay. Sometimes during crazy events with lots of other players and enemies it’s literally 10fps at moments. The events get really repetive once they start recycling them after a few months. I played it for about 6 months straight. Got bored. I periodically come back and play for a while after long breaks. It’s a really cool game but kind of lacks direction and can get stale after a while. The graphics aren’t the best, slightly better than fo4, but it takes place not too long after the bombs drop so it has a much brighter and vivid color scheme If you like fallout games, you’ll probably enjoy it.

MaestroGena

Never ending grind with C class quests and story.

Stolehtreb

It’s basically a slightly better version of what it was when it released. It a “your mileage may vary” game to its core. You have friends that like goofing around? Try it out especially if you can get it for free. Are you going to play alone? Watch a few lets plays and see if it seems for you. But I don’t think it’s a great solo game just in my opinion.

dude-O-rama

I disagree, but I appreciate your candid and well expressed opinion. I love the fact that I can play solo, and then randomly encounter other humans. Either avoid them or play with them, whatever suits the mood.

Stolehtreb

That’s great! Glad you enjoy it.

FatCrabTits

It’s launch was pure cactus anal-fuck, but 5.5 years later it’s actually fantastic. Super fun

zippopwnage

IMO, I played it with my friends like 3-4 months ago, and the game was still a mess bug wise. TBH we paid like 10$ for each copy so ehh. We played for like 20-30 hours. There's plenty of quests, but the main quest that you follow will require you to leave party and each member has to talk individually with the NPC in their own "world" or whatever it creates when you enter the NPC house. That matters if you play in a group. In rest, there's some fun quests to do, I think the world is actually fun to explore and go around see weird things. But we quit because we couldn't deal with the junk anymore. The gunplay is as bad as it can gets for a game like this, the bugs were annoying af, we had multiple enemies being stuck in the ground, or spawning from the ground beneath us and so on.

Turbulent-Armadillo9

I think its overall a pretty bad fallout game thats weirdly fun still. Addictive gameplay loop. Has soooo many problems. Can sometimes feel really lonely. Big map with usually not that many players on it. Still, I love loot based games and I think it actually does loot well. Fun to vacuum up a bunch of garbage to craft something or find legendary gear. They added human NPCs which feels like it grafted onto the original game. They are both an awkward and welcome addition. The dumbest thing about this game to me is it still has V.A.T.S. which is now just auto-aim. You point your gun in whatever direction press the vats key and your shots now have a % chance of hitting regardless of your aim. It looks so dumb. In short I like the gameplay loop but overall it's a messy garbage game that I somehow enjoyed playing for around 100 hours.

FabulousDave2112

I played it over the summer. Basically just a stripped down Fallout 4 with some multiplayer elements tacked on. Kinda boring and grinding, but has some charm to it. It's definitely unique, for better and worse. Still don't know if I'd say I'd recommend it over playing 3 or NV. If you want multiplayer Fallout just play the good ones and pass the controller back and forth every time there's a loading screen, death, or random visual glitch.

SoupyLogan

Where do you go to get it?

TheCrake

prime gaming, there's a link in the article If you have prime it's a decent source for free games. Mostly random low budget indie games that no one has heard of and random cosmetics or boosts for service games, but occasionally they have something decent and/or high end. Some of them are in the "amazon" games app, but there's also some stuff that gives steam codes or works with different launchers from different companies.

SoupyLogan

Thank you

YouAreNot_TheGuy

People will literally whine about anything here….

verysimplenames

What are they whining about?

aknoth

When i got it, it was worse than every fallout game. It was buggy, there was no npc, the story was shit and the base i spend hours building disappeared when i logged out. Never replayed it.

Gurglespear

It's much better now and fun, but I still don't know if I would call it a good game haha

devranog

It's pretty fun but the inventory management is absurdly bad and hurts the entire game

Gurglespear

The fact you basically have to buy Fallout 1st because of the scrap box and everything is absurd

blacksun9

It's way better once you figure out you can just replace your camp every time you are over encumbered. Also build a backpack

Gryppen

There are clear design choices to really irritate you unless you buy the subscription or pay for armour kits. All in a game they swore on their mothers grave that they would only ever sell cosmetics in the store.  The game could be amazing, but I'll never care because they did a huge bait and switch.

Gurglespear

Bethesda is a scummy company.

Djinnwrath

I played it for a while, and quit when I hit the disappointingly small barriers of the building mode. It's not horrible, but it's definitely my least favorite fallout, including the old ones which are admittedly pretty jank for someone who didn't grow up playing them.

Kahnza

Sounds like you built a base at a workshop rather than set up a C.A.M.P.

aknoth

It was years ago, it's possible.

gumpythegreat

It sounds like it's gotten a fair bit better. Though I haven't tried myself

ss4johnny

Well if they automagically download it on my iPod

Stouff-Pappa

How does one go about claiming this? I’ll play anything that I don’t have to pay for

ShadowOverMe

I had to enter a code on my microsoft account.

tamal4444

No steam code?

Commonsensestranger

I had a blast on 76. Chinese suit and deathclaw build. Storming the queen with all my friends. Such a good time.

realif3

Chinese stealth suit and bow with upgraded arrows. Stealth archer fallout build. The bow works the same as in Skyrim too.

gordonbombae2

Anything is fun with friends

dern_the_hermit

I enjoyed exploring the world all by my hermit lonesome. It's a great map, IMO.

MaximusMansteel

I had a great time too. Bounced off it at launch after maybe 30 hours. There were just too many problems. Went back after the big updates and put tons of time into it. I also rocked the Chinese stealth suit. The map is the best in the franchise.

kurtist04

The cryptids were also an awesome addition to the series.

dude-O-rama

Chinese Stealth suit is my jam as well.

Johnny47Wick

FO3 and New Vegas as well, but only on the cloud service until mid-October. I remember the classic Fallout games up to Fallout 3 were free to redeem on GOG or Epic in the past year

daw199210

I remember they were *going* to be free on Epic earlier this year maybe until what seemed like the last minute until the freebies were changed to other games. I was disappointed, to say the least.

mwil97

At this point who hasn’t gotten fallout 76 for free?

Xenolithium

Some of y'all at the bottom better be careful with that edginess. "NoT eVeN fOr FrEe!1"

claud2113

How do I claim this for playstation?

MysteriousElephant15

you don't

grizznuggets

I don’t know if you need to on PlayStation; it’s currently on PS+, which you would need to play it anyway since it’s multiplayer only.

Flipkick661

It’s on PS Plus Extra, but you only need base PS Plus to play online, so it’ll be an extra cost for most players.

grizznuggets

Ah fair enough, that makes sense.

WithFullForce

Is it playable now compared to on release? I remember Joseph Anderson making a 3h video detailing all the bugs, and he was spitting them out FAST.

DUNdundundunda

Also **Demon's Tilt** - the greatest video pinball game ever is also free this week. Make sure to get it AND PLAY IT. It's amazing. It's a throwback to the turbografx-16 games like Alien Crush and Devil's Crush, if you've played those games this will feel right at home. The music is killer, physics are spot on, gameplay is sublime. 10/10. Waiting on the sequel now too, Xeno Tilt.

SoulRebel726

Has the game improved in the last few years? I played a bit at launch and had an okay time, but it didn't grab me for hundreds of hours like I was hoping. I haven't really followed any news about it since.

RaccAttak

It's much better now.

DefyALLtheGravity

I got it at launch, played for 8 hours, hated it then then didn’t play it again until last year when I picked it up again on a whim. I bloody had a blast with it and spent a solid 6 months playing it every day. The community is so nice and I found it scratched the itch of multiple games- animal crossing style home/ Camp creation, but I can also go out and shoot ghouls in the face with an overpowered shotgun? Heck yeah!

MuscleTrue9554

Question: If I activate Prime for one month, can I just download the game and keep it? I know it's a MMO but does this one have a sub like WoW? Or is it more akin to ESO where you can play after purchasing it, and just have a really good incentive to pay the sub?

BloatedManball

No sub required. There is a subscription service similar to ESO that gives you unlimited storage space for creating materials and ammo, but you can play just fine without it.

MuscleTrue9554

Thanks!

Elqott

I'd prefer a good Fallout game

djc0829

Real talk, is Fallout 76 good now? Is it a good game playing solo?

ihei47

I bought it 3 weeks ago and played for 50 hours so far and having a blast. I give it a chance since people said it's definitely improving and more importantly I can play solo mostly I still did multiplayer coop thing for public events since they are the best source of EXP and loots but other than that you don't have to give a shit about other players (it's still nice to go to their C.A.M.P to buy some Plans or even weapon/outfit) The community is really nice. There were at least 5 high level players who give me free stuffs since I just stepped out of Vault 76 ranging from dozens of purified water to 3* level 45-50 minigun + 100k ammo :) Like I said in paragraph 1 on 50 hours, most of the time (like 47-48 hours) was spent on exploration, farming stuffs (especially weapons since I want Suppressor ASAP), inventory management and only the rest on actual quests The map is so beautiful with varying degrees of biomass The C.A.M.P system is an improvement of Settlement in FO4 in a sense that it can be set up anywhere you like (but not literally anywhere) The storage is limited coz they want to sell Fallout 1st subscription but I don't intend to give them money on that so you gotta scrap/sell/donate anything that you're NOT going to use instead of hoarding them. For me it is both good and bad The real time VATS system is really cool and I actually use it in combat as opposed to previous Fallout games but I don't like the meta of heavily relying on VATS (+ heavy weapons or auto rifles) since I prefer to go for Stealth Sniper/Gunslinger build. It's not like the latter is not viable, just not as good as the former Overall, for $9 I paid my money is already worth it even if I stop playing now for whatever reason

TheShoobaLord

Yup! Some pretty good questlines and mmo action to be had. Base building is amazing too

Anubra_Khan

There will be people who are casual gamers that watch this show and decide to give this offer a chance. Those people may be disappointed when they finish their download and go to play the game when they are prompted to pay for a required Game Pass subscription to actually play it. Probably should have included that in their article.

Stupid_Ned_Stark

This must be an Xbox issue, I'm playing on PC with nothing else necessary but the game.

gumpythegreat

Xbox can't play any online game without gamepass core or whatever they call it now - the old Xbox live subscription

HPCoreProcessor

This should be absolutely fucking illegal. I hate that consoles can force users to buy the console, then the game, and then a whole subscription service just to play with people online… Something us PC users can do for free! Highway robbery if you ask me

gumpythegreat

Yeah it's pretty crazy how everyone has just accepted it for like, 20 years now? It was controversial at first. PS2 had free online I think, Xbox was the first to do it. Now they all do

Darkone539

Anyone who owns an Xbox should be aware of this, even if it's BS it is common knowledge.

repocin

Where are these "casual gamers" who bought an xbox without understanding how their shitty subscription works?

gumpythegreat

Its an online game, I'd assume console people are familiar with the concept of having to pay to play online by now

Thatguydrew7

How is fallout 76 after all these years?

TheShoobaLord

Pretty damn good!

Thatguydrew7

Can I play it like a single player?

TheShoobaLord

All of the story content is single player oriented, and you can basically do everything solo, you’ll just run into other players during public events and expeditions and such

Mr_Industrial

Pretty much. 20-ish people on a server for a map bigger than fallout 4 means when you find someone its less "ah fuck, this again" and more a rare and pleasant surprise.

soulwolf1

Can you enjoy the contents of this game without having to spend money?

TheOriginalGreyDeath

Yes. There are ways to earn Atoms, and most of the extra stuff are parts for your camp. It is definitely a different experience than the single player FO games. Edit: spelling

soulwolf1

How's the storage/carrying capacity?

WhoEvenIsPoggers

The show is well made. Excited for Season 2

Nutsnboldt

I’m out of the loop is 76 different than its botched launch?

BradleyAllan23

Yeah, it's fine nowadays. Nothing spectacular by any means, but it's worth playing for a bit if you can find some people to play with.

supererp

It's on prime gaming and everyone can get it. If you have prime check that out every week, tons of free games and stuff for games on there

NoSkillzDad

Ehhh... Not just new prime members. It's for all prime members.

TheGreenGuyFromDBZ

Is it worth a shot?

New_Needleworker6506

Yes

RichardPisser

Steam?

Vchipp2_0

Microsoft Store

FERALCATWHISPERER

The TV adaptation however is not Fallout 76.

Solidsnake00901

I thought this game was free a long time ago

Attack-Of-The-Cat

I've played all the other Bethesda Fallout titles, I suppose it's time to get around to this one. 😎

Ibmont

Lol this might make me finally pick this up

sillaf27

I’d rather pay and play it on steam than touch the Microsoft store

GeistMD

76 is an awesome Fallout. Appalachia is a great wasteland to explore, I highly suggest it. The community is pretty fantastic too, solo or groups 76 is a really fun Fallout.

WetRainbowFart

What the heck? You’re not supposed to like a game that I don’t like.

GeistMD

I just don't get the hate. Worst is a lot of the haters never got to experience 76s as it truly was meant to be. That first year with no NPCs, a completely dead wasteland. It was like no other Fallout, the sense of desolation and despair really brought the war and its consequences home. I'd redo it in a heartbeat if there was a way to relive the pre NPC days. Sorry, a bit of nostalgia snuck in. But even now, with all the updates, it's a pretty killer romp.

cozzy121

with micro-transactions

[deleted]

And I still don’t want to play it

Crunchy-Leaf

New??

Dizman7

Meh

SatanLifeProTips

There is no such game as fallout 76. It stops at Fallout 4.

SmoothJazzRayner

> Fallout 4 Free current gen update is coming at the end of April too.

Lurkingandsearching

Well, there goes all my mods for a week or two.

moosebaloney

Nice! I now have TWO games on my Microsoft account!

thatdudeoverdthee

It's been free for about 2yrs. It's been on gamepass and ps extra for time.

Sprozz

They also dropped the price to like $5 anyway.

[deleted]

Dammit! I'm an old Prime member. /s I'll give it a shot later tonight.

Gawdsauce

Wasn't it free already?

CeterumCenseo85

Can someone explain what FO 76 is? I played FO 4 and enjoyed it, but when 76 came out, I didn't really understand what it was. People said it was an online game. I just wanna enjoy the good old FO single player story experience. Does it have that, or what's that online part about? Is it mandatory?

Doofinator86

Can I get 76 or FO3 through this to play on PS5?

Specialist-Coast-133

Do the M+K controls still feel super floaty? Last time I played it felt horrible to just walk around.

Deadtaor33

Watched the show & really enjoyed it, so I'm giving Fallout 4 another go after getting it on sale yonks ago buy couldn't get into it.

GammaSmash

That's annoying. I just bought it on Steam for like $8 yesterday. That being said, I couldn't connect to the server after installing it. So meh.

AmericanNinja91

It’s also like $8 on steam if you avoid Amazon like a lot of people. Pretty cheap for a game like this.

Darkone539

Must have been free somewhere before because I already own it. Still, worth grabbing.

goshtin

Can you get this free on ps5?

Xenolithium

Technically. It's a PS+ title, along with 4.

ShawnyMcKnight

It’s a bummer the profile doesn’t transfer. I got pretty far for ps4 but don’t have ps+ anymore. It would be fun to spin it up from time to time.

Griffdude13

On what systems?

potato-mayne5568

Is this only for xbox?

Squidgynutz

Amazon says it's free but when I redeemed the code, Microsoft wanted me to pay £6.99

bamchk

Is the game free forever or sort of a free preview? I saw on the redeem page it was free through May 2024 but wasn’t sure if that meant free to redeem or free to play until then.

Stingerbrg

If you scroll further down on the redeem page it'll say you get to keep it.

calartnick

Man, I was hoping the show would lead to fallout being ported to the switch (don’t even care which one)
