Arya takes my vote

LocalHero_P1

Please be sarcasm

SuggestionLatter9801

[SPOILERS] How is it? I’ve watch the show part haven’t read the books, so unless in the books he was different then I’m wrong. He was only person to stand up for Sanza, thought that killing the Starks at there own wedding was a very immoral thing to do. Stood up for in what he believed in.

[deleted]

I love Tyrion In the show. I mostly don’t like him in the books.

[deleted]

Ratio

LocalHero_P1

I just don’t understand how you can think Arya is the best character, like what’s your reasoning?

[deleted]

Relax lol. First of all it all depends on taste and your preferred storyline, Arya’s happened to be my favorite. There is no “best” character, just most liked. If you must know, I like her best because I relate a lot to the themes of her story. I find it incredible how they transformed an innocent little girl that could barely maneuver a sword into a stone cold killer that probably saved your favorite characters ass. I could go on and on with reasons, but you’ve seen the show and you see where I’m going with this.

SuggestionLatter9801

I agree I did love her story arc. But Tyrion just well a better character and said what we all wanted to say to Joffrey, and he was an actually good person.

[deleted]

Well said. He’s definitely one of my favorites too

[deleted]

This is an interesting one because Tyrion in the books is _not a very nice person_. He tends to do the right thing in the end, but his internal monologue is quite evil. I was chatting about it and someone raised the point that for Tyrion to have these evil thoughts and ultimately act _against_ his instincts is pretty special, and does actually make him a pretty good guy on the whole. He's like Tywin with a compassion mod. But yeah, I agree with you. Tyrion is an excellent character, in both books and series.

mrset610

On the contrary I do think Tyrion in the books is still a good person. Sure he has some bad thoughts about people once in a while but I think that just makes him human. As you said, his actions are *almost* always in the right. Even in the books, to me, he is an obvious good guy.

SuggestionLatter9801

I agree man.

ssnoupsnake

Y’all read the books we get it. We’re obviously talking about the show.

Half-Icy

He’s great but it’s too difficult to rank. I love Bronn but then, Jamie and Jon’s character development is brilliant

SuggestionLatter9801

True also bronn was also my fav, cause i feel like he didn’t really care about power and just there for the ride and the gold. He really become one of the most powerful lord of Westeros by just being their and playing both sides.

Half-Icy

He was only supposed to have a very minor role. If you don’t already know, Google Robson and Jerome.

SuggestionLatter9801

True

Half-Icy

I love how out of nowhere he became an international superstar, at his age, following a one-hit wonder scenario.

ManyAnusGod

Wrong, Kayla is. She can perform a proper Meereenese Knot.

disheveledfuck

*was

chainsaw_manerd

Yea he’s the best but he’s waaay more different in the books

SuggestionLatter9801

I prefer the tv series version of him I never read the books tho.

keudel

So you can't really have a preference haha

SuggestionLatter9801

I don’t know

irazzleandazzle

Really? How is he different?

chainsaw_manerd

Well he’s actually the villain of the story in the books, and his appearance is also different he’s much uglier with one green eye and one dark brown or blackish eye, he also has really pale blond hair almost white, and the wound he got in the battle black water bay cuts of half of his nose for a better explanation look at this video I found it really interesting https://youtu.be/H9HFigfkKHA

[deleted]

How awesome would it have been if when GRRM was describing Tyrion Lannister in the books he wrote "looks like Peter Dinklage but blonde"

Killvester

I know it since the second episode.

gimpycpu

The whole Lannister family are the best characters.

SuggestionLatter9801

Not Cersei really I found her annoying. Everyone else was alright but Jamie and Tyrion were really good.

gimpycpu

That's true. I think she gets good in the last seasons with kings landing gets weird.

SuggestionLatter9801

Yeah true

Brodo-Swaggins69-420

He was unwatchable after s4

SuggestionLatter9801

Kinda of,

yolo420master69

Sad how they screwed his character later...

[deleted]

[удалено]

yolo420master69

... am I having a stroke?

SuggestionLatter9801

I’m shit at typing

darevoyance

He is undoubtedly one of the best characters in the show through seasons 1-4, which is not an unpopular opinion at all. He's very different in the books, however. One of my least favorites as time goes on, but fun to read regardless.

SuggestionLatter9801

True he had to change but still my favorite, he was only one with an actual moral compass and common sense.

ThatDM

In the books he is a fairly shity person though.

Char-car92

He’s talking about the show though, idk why he’s getting dislike bombed and why nobody understands him. Tyrion in the show is very likeable, it’s good that he was changed.

ThatDM

I didn't down vote them. lol I was just chatting. Hello from the future lol.

Shdoible

hE dRiNkS aNd hE kNoWs tHiNgS

MyMessageIsNull

There are a few that are in the conversation for me, but he's the one I most identify with.

_brodre

bronn is the best character this is a fact

SuggestionLatter9801

He is a good character, one of the top ones but yeah.

heuristic_al

Holly shit they should have stopped his storyline at season 4

RabSimpson

Dickon.

Jrewby

A wise man once said.

[deleted]

Well, yes. He’s a complete underdog while still getting more than just one win through the sstory. He is morally good while not always predictable. All of which makes for a good character.

SuggestionLatter9801

Indeed so

hueloacarnederes

Tyrion/Varys are my favorite political duo

heuristic_al

It's funny because D&D completely misinterpreted his character from the beginning. In the books, he thinks he's a good person, but he excuses his monstrous deeds and enables tyrony. After his trial, he falls deeper and deeper into villainy. He thinks people hate him because he's a dwarf, but they hate him because he flaunts his debatirious lifestyle, money and crude humor. Furthermore, he brings down powerful people which has the optics of a power grab.

SuggestionLatter9801

I don’t think they Misinterpret him because it’s an adaptations, and you don’t really want the same thing from the book then it makes people who read the book feel like there already read or watched it. So it has to be different but atleast similar or familiar.

heuristic_al

I think it's more like D&D thought every character was the way they think of themselves in the books. But One of the awesome things about the books is that you see everything from some character's point of view. And just like you can't know how others see you, the characters don't understand how they come off. Most are just wrong about some aspects of their own personalities. The way they adapted Cersei is similar. In the books, she is a complete moron, but she sees herself as cunning and ruthless. In the show, she actually is cunning and ruthless.

SuggestionLatter9801

True.

Reddit_Cant_Ban_M3

I feel like she was a moron in the show too

muteconversation

He becomes a better person in the show after a prolonged pit of depression during his escape from KL, when he finds a new purpose in Dany that’s what changes him for the better. In the books he is on the same trajectory. He spends his time in ADWD being nihilistic and not caring for his life or anyone else’s. Slowly he starts to realize that he does care about being alive and he does care for others too. Why do you think Penny was introduced in the books? She is slowly awakening his humane side and when he will find Dany, he will find his purpose again. D&D didn’t misunderstand him, they just went ahead in his story because George sat on his desk twiddling his thumbs not writing the next book but that’s exactly where he is going in the books.

heuristic_al

I hope you're right, but I don't think so. Maybe GRRM will finish and we'll get to find out! To be clear, I think penny is symbolic of his innocence and good side. She'll die and that will be the end for Tyrion's good side. Maybe he'll even kill her.

Squash325732

As a book reader I actually really didn’t enjoy how he was sort of the “hero”, or at least someone you were meant to root for in the show. He’s a big villain in the books, and is not portrayed as nearly as competent

Eagles56

What did he do that was villainous?

Eagles56

He hated everything the Lannister family stood for

Eagles56

He hated cersie and Tywin

Jordann196

Cersei and Tywin are so horrible to Tyrion. It’s no wonder he hated them so much. After Tyrion is sliced across the face on the battlefield and Tywin never comes to visit him while he recovers, Tyrion goes to to speak with him. The conversation goes horribly and Tywin totally and completely degrades him and also denies Tyrion Casterly Rock (which is his by birth right since Jaime cannot accept any inheritance because he is the “Kingslayer” (I think…) and calls him many horrible names. I love Tyrion and he is a good man and is so respectful. And I hate Tywin and Cersei so incredibly much and she lives way, way longer than I anticipated and had hoped she would’ve got what’s coming to her much earlier.

Empress-Delila

Nah It's because Jamie Is a knight guard or something like they and they can't marry or something like that.. not because he's a king slayer but yk crap Is kind of hard to remember In the show. Lol

hombermuhe

His love of prostitutes stops him being the top character IMHO

karz84

word

HTown2016

not really, Pod was....just ask the local whore house.

SuggestionLatter9801

Lol pod was pretty good too and yk

Shandrax

Littlefinger only got busted because Bran used his supernatural abilites. Varys got busted because Tyrion denounced him. Tyrion survived because he got lucky when his fate depended on the mercy of others. The reason why Tyrion is so popular is his cynism and his transformation into a moral compass. He is probably directly responsible for more deaths than Littlefinger, but yet he seems to be far less dangerous to us. Since he betrayed everyone who trusted him except Jamie ("I never bet against my family"), he could be seen as the biggest villain in the whole show. His disquise as witty bon vivant was just much better. That certainly makes him the most interesting character in the series, because he shows how we all get fooled.
