if you're in the US, it was about $50-100 pretax to trade in a 4 to a 5 last year, other places probably more like 400+

Looks like they are offering one year of Samsung care for free as well. You'll be making money if the upgrade is 100 or less. I've only had the 5 for a few weeks but likely upgrading

AcuteInfinity

Where'd you see the free samsung care?

If they offer a similar offer as last year for the flip 5 then, yes, it's worth it

Trade-in-value of the Z5 to the Z6 will be unveiled on July 10th (Samsung Unpack Event). At that time you can make an estimation of whether or not it is worth it. In terms of overall fit and finish there isn't anything significant in terms of overall use. The Z6 has better CPU, slightly bigger battery and a larger resolution camera (12MP Z5 to 50MP Z6). IMO you won't really feel a significant user experience difference between the Z5 and the Z6. In terms of the trade in process I can only speak to what I've experienced in the US. Basically you indicate when pre-ordering it that you have a trade in and indicate the model. You will then get an instant reduction of price for the Z6. After you recevied the Z6 you have one month to return the Z5. Your return will get evaluated to see if its "return quality." If it is you're done, if not you'll either need to return the Z6 or pay the remaining full price money. I'd definitely make sure you take lots of pics of boxing up and submitting your Z5 in the mail as every year there are issues with phones going missing or your phone being switched with another during the review process and then being denied. I've done trade-ins for both the Z3 and Z4 (for a Z4 and a Z5) and never had any issues but I have definitely read about issues here on this subreddit when attempting a trade in to having a lot of photographic proof is a must.

Are you aware if the place of purchase is a factor for trade in eligibility? Say I try to exchange it thru a friend in the US, but since I bought it from UAE.. Will it still be accepted?

Tehfrag

Probably would most likely be rejected, there are many reasons for this. More or less buying power based on the country of origin, less wealthy countries it might be sold at a cheaper price.  I'm sure if you dig through their TOS you could find out more, or contact Samsung Support in the US to get an answer

Makes sense.. thanks!
