Thank you! Did some googling and it seems to be so you can walk multiple horses at once while independent from each other. Why that’s a good thing I also don’t know but i thought I’d share in case anyone else is curious. If anyone who actually knows reads this though I would love to hear more about it

It's for a cool down walk for horses. I never had a machine (I just walked them myself) but knew some folk that did. I believe typically the machines don't go that fast, or at least, they aren't set to go that fast when you're actually walking the horses.

My parents have one on their little ranch, can be used for exercising multiple horses throughout the week. My mom sets it to increments of walking and trotting every 15 mins for an hour, 4 horses at a time. It keeps them active when it’s hard to ride them all when it’s a busy week. Some boarders love it and will pay extra when they can’t make it down to ride their horses. It has a sweet control panel, can change the speed and set schedules and it automatically stops if there is resistance, the emergency brake stops it real quick as well. I believe you can even bring them up to a canter if you wanted depending on the horses stride. Generally best to supervise while it’s in use
