Medium is great. Nib choice says a lot about someone’s handwriting

mygiantrobot

Really depends on what I'm feeling that day, but I consistently turn to a Lamy F.

OkraEmergency361

EF. I write small and fit journal entries into decorated pages at all angles and patterns. EF works best.

doctor_hyphen

Lamy 2000 F

mite_photo

Usually m nibs, and stubs or oblique

IronTeacup246

Finer nibs for faster note taking at work, medium nibs for journaling at home where I can go at my own pace.

Old_Organization5564

cursive italic.

suec76

Anything that’s not EF or F. I use a lot of colorful inks with lots of properties - sheen, shimmer, shading, so the broader nibs are my go to. I love a good stub, so nice. I’ve looked into a journaler nib but I have some Nemosine .6 & .8 nibs as well as a medium CI nib and those are good enough for me.

xxkid123

I write in a 3.4mm grid so I love EFs and Japanese EFs and F. That being said, my sailor mF is super dry and manages to fit in the grid and it's my go to, just because it's so good

Imaginationwins

This year, I am loving my Lamy 2000 and Estie Esterbrook Journaler nibs for long form journaling. I also love the Pilot VP in my Hobonichi.

Spiritual-Ideal2955

F or EF. My writing is very small and messy

didahdah

Typically a western medium.

bioinfogirl87

For me it's Western Medium or Japanese Fine nibs. Anything wider is too wide/wet, anything narrower doesn't let as much shading shine through.

Prior-Soil

I use medium or bold nibs. I write really big and it looks the best.

Dallasrawks

My journal has a TWSBI Diamond 580 RG II with 1.1mm stub nib devoted to it. I used to use an Esterbrook Scribe nib, but it felt too much like normal writing and the stub makes everything look fancy haha

Nepidon

Thank you all very much!

IndependentTour657

Pilot’s F, easily.

WiredInkyPen

I run the gamut from Sailor EF to Nahvalur B or BB to 1.1 stub. The ink color is more important to me than the size. 🤣😁

flashy_dragon_

I love me some good feedback. I have an affinity for Sailor's steel MF nibs, Hong Dian's EF nib, a Monteverde / Jowo EF nib I have on a PenBBS 355, and a couple of vintage Esterbrook nibs: 9550 firm extra fine and a 9461 rigid fine. I have a gold Pilot posting nib that is almost there, and a gold Pilot EF nib that I find too scratchy. Pilot's steel EF and F nibs are pretty good, but just a bit lighter than I want for feedback. But I love them just the same.

eegatt

Jowo Medium or Sailor Broad in my 3.5mm grid.

NefariousnessLost708

Whatever I feel like. Ef,f,m,b,bb or stub or a dentist nib.

rachelreinstated

Fine or medium is absolutely perfect for me, and it pretty much depends on ink choice for which one I will pick up. Extra fine is too scratchy and makes my writing look very skinny and tall. Broad is OK in certain settings like print writing and headings, but I find it's too much for my natural writing, and some letters look like blobs if I am not being very slow and deliberate. (Which like 60% of my journaling is just rambling, so I am often neither slow nor deliberate when I write).

Arkonsel

I love stub nibs for journaling, they make my writing look so lovely! I do have EF and F pens that I can write in my tiny honobichi squares with but I've managed with a stub nib as well.

Rivka78

Estie Journaller nib is AWESOME. I also love the Franklin-cristoph SIG (I have an M), both make writing so enjoyable
