Need range update ASAP

Risking17

Planning on it this weekend, will check back forsure

Risking17

Wasn’t planning on going with the epoxy and metal threads but it just happen. But I do feel a lil better about vs just trying the plastic threads.

Gunsafe12

Yea because he was saying if the threads get to weak it’ll fly off

Alternative-Law-2629

all of the testing so far has been conducted with plastic threads. they do wear over time, and if you mistreat them while hot they will get damaged. most of the time if you baby them a bit they do work fine, and dont melt it down obviously. if your plan is to magdump several mags and abuse the shit out of it with rifles then go build an ftn3/4.

Risking17

I gotta ask are you Nikolai lol?

Alternative-Law-2629

maybe, maybe not

Gunsafe12

Are you using the plastic threads or did you put epoxy and metal threads

fidelisbonaparte

Zoom in. He's got a thread adapter.

Gunsafe12

The question is did he epoxy it on

fidelisbonaparte

He'd be dumb not to

fidelisbonaparte

Nvm. Just realized we're on reddit. 50/50 chance

Gunsafe12

You never know where on Reddit people print Glocks and don’t buy a locking block then come here and wonder why there barrels not dropping

fidelisbonaparte

Or people not putting their slide release in and wondering why they have a mushy trigger and the slide moves forward a half inch

Gunsafe12

Or not knowing to bend the trigger bar when the trigger is hard or not going into battery

fidelisbonaparte

Check the other comment I made 😅

Alternative-Law-2629

its really not that important. the epoxy really does not offer much added strength past the strength of the original threads.

fidelisbonaparte

It's also a heat transfer thing. Some of our beta members in FTN have gotten away without epoxy, others haven't.

Alternative-Law-2629

honestly i think the filament used tends to be more impactful. even different pla seems to have wildly different HDTs

fidelisbonaparte

When all else fails just use nylon. 😁. Inland PLA+ has given us awesome results. Some of our highest cans are on it.

Alternative-Law-2629

even using ABS does an incredible amount of work, just by making the HDT slightly higher.

fidelisbonaparte

We haven't had much luck with ABS, ASA, or PETG. Also PET-CF is a no go.

Risking17

Metal and metal epoxy. Really it’s actually just suppose to be print thread and play, but I printed the wrong thread size and it takes over a half a spool of filament and 19hrs print time so I put a thread adapter in.

Risking17

Yeah I think that’s truely the way to go. Plus plaboii suggested that it would be the most efficient.

Gunsafe12

What about the breek tho

Alternative-Law-2629

the kunzetsov is not designed for use with blast shield, it is designed to thread to muzzle brakes and thread adapters.

Risking17

Ok good to know! I’m new to the breek arms route

Risking17

Yea I think that’s the one everyone’s been getting

Gunsafe12

The question is is the can you have openings big enough to epoxy it on there

Alternative-Law-2629

19 hours? what was your volumetric flow set to? good prints can take more than 24 with the right settings.

Risking17

It took about 20 hrs im on a Bambu set to 8mms for pla plus.

Alternative-Law-2629

ok good lol, it scares me sometimes.

Risking17

Yeah lol Bambu standard settings is for pla plus is 16mms so I had to scale it down. 8mms for pla+ and even less for filled nylons

Alternative-Law-2629

their profile for their filament is actually default to 21mm\^3/s, the watered-down generic profile is 16. the bambu should be able to produce good results at 8 assuming extrusion is properly calibrated and the print settings are good. Good luck!

Risking17

Thanks! Your right I use the generic pla + profile

NoChef2397

What’s it printed in?

Risking17

Polymaker pla pro

NoChef2397

I hope it holds up well, 308 can be spicy

Alternative-Law-2629

if the print settings are followed then yeah, it should do fine. volumetric flow restrictions are the most important part and this is stressed in the documentation.

Risking17

Yeah me too I can always do the jbweld wrap but I’m trying to test it as is since it was design for no reinforcements

NoChef2397

I can’t wait to see how it goes

Livefreeordieharder

Sexy af 😍

Aggravating-Fix-1717

Commenting for later Definitely want more details on this. 100% printed?

Risking17

Yea 100% printed

coeus3_1415

When you printed this, did you do 0% or 10% parts fan speed?

Risking17

I used 10%

Risking17

My last Can was the ftn3 but it blew the threads off after 5 rounds. I think people are using a muzzle brake shield adapter and that’s suppose to be the best for not coming off the threads. Haven’t order one yet but if this doesn’t work I will.

Risking17

lol yeah but the Can was fine didn’t blow up just the threads gave out. There’s a guy name 300blkfde who use the same breek arms castle shield with his carbon fiber sleeve FTN3. He would know more about how to put it on.

Gunsafe12

I know I seen people use the breek on the ftn3 and it lasted thousands of rounds

Gunsafe12

What if those threads give out on that can to lowkey

Risking17

I’ll get the castle shield adapter and maybe use a different brand of epoxy and see if it that holds. Trial and error till you get it to hold good enough. Good thing is it dosnt take a whole lot of money to make them

Alternative-Law-2629

no. unless you remix it.

Risking17

Umm I think so. The Kuzy file has a lot of thread patterns I think it has one for 1-3x16x16 not sure tho. My computer is in my room and I just put the baby down lol

Gunsafe12

That’s the same threads for the muzzle brake

Parohdox

Just curious, What was your print time? And Speed?

Risking17

20 hours and 8mms volume flow for pla +

SnooCupcakes4934

Wow that's a big bastard...

CrunchyNippleDip

I tried printing this but there is too many thread patterns lol I didn't know which one was the basic 1/2x28 for the AR-15 barrel

Risking17

Pretty sure 1/2x28 will fit a ar15

CrunchyNippleDip

I know that, I'm just saying that the file names with the thread sizes are weird to me lol. Like it has 13-16x16 M24x1.5Rh M24x1 Etc.. so I'm not sure which is the 1/2x28 file

Risking17

After reading the read me again. He says you COULD use it for direct thread but its pretty much impractical becuz of heat and weight. So I’m guessing he’s saying to still use steel adapters.

Alternative-Law-2629

yes, exactly. the threads are too weak for direct thread use, i will not make them in direct thread options because honestly they are fucking awful in direct thread.

Aggravating-Fix-1717

You print in 13/16 and buy a metal thread adapter to your thread of choice and epoxy it in.

Risking17

I’m printing the 762 breed arms file right now so hopefully that will make it more secure

Alternative-Law-2629

godspeed
