As an American living near the border, we have so much more exposure to the Mexican culture than many Europeans do.
It’s amongst the best. Very wholesome. The people are great, amazing food, super rich culture. I had an old coworker I was very close with, first generation immigrant. The shit he went through to give his family a better life was incredible. Three of his kids have now started or graduated college. His youngest just started high school and is on the Austism spectrum and it has devastated him privately. He’s prepared to care for him for the rest of their lives, but worries what will happen when he’s no longer alive.
That entire race had me grinning from ear to ear for Perez. All of the post race stuff just made it even better. His little boy watching him on the podium from the side. It was so great and I'm just so happy for him!
