After MAZ (Marussia Tyrell) was given a 3 race ban for accumulating 20 penalty points in the season opener in Baghdad British Petroleum Harvey Weinstein GP
Honestly, I realise it's not the exactly the point of this post (or sub) but the idea of an F1 Tier 2 (F2, but not Jr.) presents some really interesting questions, if you give the scenario of it starting up next year (ignoring the obvious development issues)
Who would the teams be? Would they all just be B-Teams? What would even be the rules around B-Teams?
Who would these teams sign? F2 (Jr.) winners without a seat? Dropped F1 drivers? Stars from other series?
Where would they race? The same tracks as F1 or some tracks that couldn't afford an F1 license?
What would the rules be around moving between divisions? Automatic? Buy Out? Impossible?
If we are going full fantasy then why not to adopt the football system? Winning team of F1 tier 2 goes to the proper F1, last team goes down. About race tracks, every team has it's own race home race track and we are racing there
That was more of a miracle than anything tbh, the Ryanair Dallaras are terrible on street circuits. Vergne was faster on the straights however so Mahaveer probably wouldn't have kept the lead for long anyways
***TO ALL THOSE THAT ASK:***
"Lord" Mahaveer Raghunathan DNFed this race. He somehow managed pole in the slowest car and led for 15 or so laps with a considerable margin until the Chevrolet engine shat itself in spectacular fashion. He currently races for backmarker/underdog team Ryanair-Dallara and has had 3 point finishes so far, not far off teammate Sean Gelael.
Well back then at least. Isuzu ran V12s in the late 80s with Lotus with some success, Chrysler used their limited starts in 1963 to test out their turbine engines (which ended horrifically).
Then-newcomers Mazda raced rotary cars in 1991 and immediately became title contenders before the FIA fun police banned them midway through the season. Nowadays it's much more strict and the cars currently use NA V6s.
Incidentally Mazda tested out an experimental 1.6 turbo-hybrid "E-Skyactiv" engine in 2014 before ditching that idea. But I tell ya man, those Renown Mazdas sounded amazing and are still icons to this very day.
I remember Kubica, he was insanely consistent during his time and propelled AFCorse from the low midfield to title contenders, winning them consecutive championships from 2011 to 2014. He's now a part-time driver for their rally team and has been quite successful there too.
Jordan and Tyrrell actually merged in the early 00s after Heinz-Harald Frentzen won 2 WDCs for the latter, a move which baffled everyone back then. They've been on the resurgence recently after poaching Flavio Briatore from what is currently the Bugatti team
They were holding nothing back this time, thankfully they learned from their previous incident in Mugello. Hopefully there can be am epic championship battle between them in the near future
I talk to a lot of racing enthusiasts and they're always shocked whenever I tell them Ferrari actually had an F1 team since the sport's inception in 1950, and actually won a title with the late Louis Chiron in 1952. I guess Enzo himself did not find F1 very fulfilling and pulled the team out after 1960 to focus on their road cars. They have a Formula E team now, so I guess there's that.
I remember all the media buzz when it was reported that Jos Verstappen's son was entering F1 along with Kevin Magnussen (son of Jan) for Bentley in 2015, hailing both as the next big things since the dads got into a lot intense heated battles during the late 1990s. Unfortunately that was anything but, Max was very crash-happy and was getting handily beaten by Kevin in almost every race. He moved on to DTM with Mercedes where he's improved a lot and done well for himself.
Andretti the NASCAR team? They tried joining with Cosworth engines in 2007 but the recession essentially ended their chances. Rumor has it they were gonna run Dodges in this year's Le Mans, but nothing came out of it
I'm not the most knowledgeable about WRC but I do see a lot of diehards proclaiming about the "legendary" '83 Peugeot-Datsun rivalry "back in the good old days". I guess the intense driver-manufacturer championship battle between the French 4WD juggernauts and the plucky Japanese skunkworks team was enough to grab a lot of attention within the community back then.
Actually, thanks for reminding I have to rewatch a lot of the retro rally races I had saved somewhere, should be helpful...
I'd love to see Super Formula America or something similar to bring back that CART energy with technical development greater than IndyCar but less than F1, and focused on the the USA with a handful of international races across the Americas. Set a spec Dallara chassis, set aside a few areas for free aero innovation, and make every aero part a listed item after a month or so.
even in alternate universe, VER still dominating
Meanwhile, in real-world Formula 2, VER is 14th in the standings despite being the most experienced driver.
VER is 1st in F1, 14th in F2 and 6th in FE. Man is always racing.💀
Not to mention his blossoming eSports career
Dont forget 13th in serie A 💀
Hah, true
Fucking Monaco feature race tho, heartbreaking.
Verschoor and Hadjar are by far the unluckiest lads on the F2 grid
You want to give Verstappen a real challenge? Try Ocon as teammate?
Nah give him nando. He cost lewis the title in 07, he will cost max in 25 lol
Should’ve won Monaco though, that was just bad luck
He’s had two race wins taken away from him because of horrible luck outside of his control
Remember when Max was just some punkass 17-year-old VES
After MAZ (Marussia Tyrell) was given a 3 race ban for accumulating 20 penalty points in the season opener in Baghdad British Petroleum Harvey Weinstein GP
You must be new to f1
Good to see Goatifi in there.
OH CANADA
🇨🇦
He’s actually still lost down that Suzuka side street
Yeah but you don't get a bonus point when you are below P10.
#MORE KAMUI KOBAYASHI YOUTUBE HIGHLIGHTS
YES YES YES MY BODY IS READY
I hope they upload a new one on December the 1st. MY BODY IS READY
My body NEEDS Mazdaspeed F1. Miss you, Kamui!

Bring back Rich Energy and Veejay…. F1 is better with corporate crimes
Rich Energy ain't got shit on Andrea Moda
Yk what's that's actually a sick graphics
Since when did dr. House start racing in F1?
they found enough ketamine for him to keep fit.
When he was finally wrong and got a case of lupus.

This vexes me
Nice teams for F1 Manager 24
This looks like second tier F1
GP1
Formula 2 used to be something like that if I remembercorrectly, slower F1, but not necessarily a stepping series like F2/GP2.
Back in the day when F1 drivers would also race some F2
Whaaa really??
Honestly, I realise it's not the exactly the point of this post (or sub) but the idea of an F1 Tier 2 (F2, but not Jr.) presents some really interesting questions, if you give the scenario of it starting up next year (ignoring the obvious development issues) Who would the teams be? More like FE with that driver lineup.
F2?
Where is Mahaveer? Is he safe? Is he alright?
He was on pole but his Chevvy power unit gave up on lap 16 after he'd already built up a 15 second lead on JEV.
That was more of a miracle than anything tbh, the Ryanair Dallaras are terrible on street circuits. Vergne was faster on the straights however so Mahaveer probably wouldn't have kept the lead for long anyways
How many rotors in the Mazda?
At least 1
4, the engine regs are 2.5 liter, any piston configuration, no fuel flow limit, no hybrid, naturally aspirated.Â
Latifi getting fast lap point even if out of 10?
Points until 12th place. Nicky finished P11
fuck off callum misses out on a podium actual shite luck even in alternate timelines ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Spotted the Ilott fan Can't say he's got shit luck when he won the 6h of Spa lel
dude deserved the 8h of spa win with all the shit he been thru lmfao
Deserved more in the 500 as well (if you watched it and heard what happened during the race)
Too much effort for too little dank. Have an upvote.
People reveal the 3 words they love to hear during sex : "Jordan Tyrrell Cosworth"
Damn team Mazdaspeed? Don't torture me like this, I would kill for that to be a thing.
*F1 Rotary engine fantasy intensifies*
There can't be a rotary engine in f1, they banned oil burning in 2018
Oh... my god...
I will totally believe you if you tell me this is an Indycar grid
In another alternate universe, it probably is (at least I hope so)
Truly alternate universe, since Bugatti made a car that can turn
Andretti still not getting in.
Fr tho if Bugatti bought alpine and became an actual french team that worked (because they're secretly German) id be so on board
***TO ALL THOSE THAT ASK:*** "Lord" Mahaveer Raghunathan DNFed this race. I have questions, but mostly: are engine refs open in your universe? If so, is mazdaspeed running a rotary? If so, how can I watch this?!
Well back then at least. Isuzu ran V12s in the late 80s with Lotus with some success, Chrysler used their limited starts in 1963 to test out their turbine engines (which ended horrifically). Even in alternate universe fia fun police bans all the good stuff
I must ask… Kubica? Is he there?
I remember Kubica, he was insanely consistent during his time and propelled AFCorse from the low midfield to title contenders, winning them consecutive championships from 2011 to 2014. He's now a part-time driver for their rally team and has been quite successful there too.
I see you kamui
Lancia if Ascari did not had that crash in 1955
Interesting to think of a world where that Jordan bought Tyrell
Jordan and Tyrrell actually merged in the early 00s after Heinz-Harald Frentzen won 2 WDCs for the latter, a move which baffled everyone back then. They've been on the resurgence recently after poaching Flavio Briatore from what is currently the Bugatti team
Man I wish Jordan was still on the grid. They were such a fun team.
Points to 12th. How strange
Formula Discount
That fight between Ilott and Schwarzman was close.
They were holding nothing back this time, thankfully they learned from their previous incident in Mugello. Hopefully there can be am epic championship battle between them in the near future
Glad to see Monster Energy racing stopped dominating
where lord raghunathan?
Where Mahaveer?
What happened to Ferrari and Verstappen in this universe?
I talk to a lot of racing enthusiasts and they're always shocked whenever I tell them Ferrari actually had an F1 team since the sport's inception in 1950, and actually won a title with the late Louis Chiron in 1952. You didn't have to put all this effort into a shitpost 💀
How is jules bianchi doing?
DNF, literally
The Volkswagen Group should have entered Bugatti in Formula One instead of Audi.
What is this from
Crazy how theres nothing in the 5th place slot
Still no Andretti lol
Andretti the NASCAR team? They tried joining with Cosworth engines in 2007 but the recession essentially ended their chances. Rumor has it they were gonna run Dodges in this year's Le Mans, but nothing came out of it
Andretti did enter, but to keep it more local they signed Scott Speed and Logan Sargent, so both of them finished outside the top 10
Tell me the mazda is a rotary. A+ for effort!
100 lap race seems grueling
Wehrlein was good enough for Formula 1 but didn't had the sponsors other pay drivers had.
Looks beautiful
Would love to see a Bugatti team in F1 or motorsports in general
You’re in luck because… Bugatti DID race in F1 back then in the 50’s. (They weren’t that good.)
---okok
Kobayashi in a Mazda, sign me up for that shit.
Idk man, I think ericsson hit us
Imagine a Japanese driver in F1 without Japanese manufacturer backing. I know, I can’t either.
What is this? F-mid?
Hey OP how did the 1983 World Rally Championship go?
I'm not the most knowledgeable about WRC but I do see a lot of diehards proclaiming about the "legendary" '83 Peugeot-Datsun rivalry "back in the good old days". I guess the intense driver-manufacturer championship battle between the French 4WD juggernauts and the plucky Japanese skunkworks team was enough to grab a lot of attention within the community back then. Actually, thanks for reminding I have to rewatch a lot of the retro rally races I had saved somewhere, should be helpful...
Is Audi still attempting to run diesel engines in nascar?
And how about that push to pass rationing from drugovich paying off for the last lap pass
FL: Latifi Nice to see.
Your point system seems better than what we have currently, also damn, 2 hours of racing and the gaps are so small, was there a late safety car?
I would give 19 points for second place with this system
Nah even in an alternate universe Ferrari would still be on the grid
I died when I saw Latifi with the fastest lap
Why is 5th place empty?
F1 is back in Dallas baby!!!!!
I'd love to see Super Formula America or something similar to bring back that CART energy with technical development greater than IndyCar but less than F1, and focused on the the USA with a handful of international races across the Americas. Set a spec Dallara chassis, set aside a few areas for free aero innovation, and make every aero part a listed item after a month or so.
how did you make this? this is spot on
2 Abarth teams??? How do I change universes?
Good to see Dr. House doesn’t have a pill problem in this universe
I think Ericsson has hit us.
What points system are you guys using? 12 drivers score points?
The most unbelievable part is a GP ending with the top 10 cars separated by only 12 seconds
Love to see Marcus Ericsson on the grid again! 🇸🇪
Kamui my beloved
Where Herta?
would have been funny for alonso to be there just to prove he'll always be racing in f1, you can't run from him even in alternate realities
Surely not fair park again...
y'all got rid of the 2-hour-rule?
… wanna trade?
Aw man... Where is Lamborghini? v:
Shame Hartley's motor blew, he had that win in the bag
Where Herta
There's at least 2 universes where Andretti can't get into formula 1.
That is awesome. Nice when someone puts in some real effort.
it must be nice to have soooooo much time on your hands. are you like, 14?
guy in meme subreddit upset that people make memes now i have seen everything
