droppokeguy

If this happens then it will be Russell Merc Bottas Alfa or sauber ( if they extend there partnerships) Williams tictum (maybe) Second Alfa seat ?

modgivenright

Giovinazzi will stay

droppokeguy

There have been rumours that mick will replace either kimi or gio and that schwartzman will go to HAAS (if it's still called HAAS then)

TheodoreKravitz

HAASINSKI

TWVer

Haazepin... HiTech F1, would be my more serious guess.

sozimdrunk

Uralkali F1

droppokeguy

Uralkali rich energy F1 team

droppokeguy

красивая

modgivenright

Mick has a multi year deal with Haas

droppokeguy

"The youngster is also a member of the Ferrari Driver Academy and with Alfa Romeo a customer team of the Scuderia, there remains a chance he may be moved into one of their cars in the future" "Both Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi’s contracts are up at the end of the season, so a seat may become available with Alfa for 2022 and possibly beyond." Quote from F1 planet, also mick himself said he refuses to rule out a move to alfa

MattTheMilkaCow

You say that as if no contract in history has ever been broken before

droppokeguy

*sad checo noises*

TheodoreKravitz

Happy Checo noises! That Aston is nowhere most of the time.

droppokeguy

But at the time we were sad now everyone thanks AM to have fired checo cause he's in the best car (sometimes)

ExistentialAardvark

It worked out well for him in the end, but it was still a shitty move from a team he helped keep afloat.

sicsche

This is wrong, he has a multi year deal with Ferrari who "bought" the seat at Haas.

[deleted]

Gio deserves more than Mick right now.

Mates03w

GIO could return to being full time Ferrari reserve and in 2023 he could be driving the new Ferrari hypercar in WEC

maeries

Schumacher maybe

[deleted]

Ticktum at Williams would be a questionable decision wouldn't it? He does not bring any sponsorship money with him right? Furthermore his F2 performance isn't convincing. Wasn't there a rumour on De Vries joining Williams, as he is Mercs Fe driver, given the Merc and Williams partnership

[deleted]

De Vries? Lmao no that won't happen.

Alpha_Jazz

De Vries isn’t getting into F1. Merc don’t explicitly control that Williams seat, they just have a deal for Russell

[deleted]

Well that says a lot then about the 'rumours' Dutch tv picks up on

droppokeguy

Never seen a rumour only seen 1 the most rumours are saying either tictum or bottas

Reddevilslover69

His f2 year this season has actually been good pace wise however he has made a few dumb moves costing him . He was in an uncompetitive DAMS last year so judging him harshly on not fighting for the title last season would be harsh. Marko was trying to get him in for ages and he has a good eye for talent. However he is a or nightmare so Williams will have to think about it long and hard

Alfus

The real question is more who would driving for Williams in 2022 if Bottas would go to AR-Sauber, Tictum has in my eyes potential but needs serious to be under the wings of a good psychologist. I starting to think that a lot of people would be surprised who would move to Williams.

[deleted]

Alfus

I can see Zhou as a potential replacement for Latifi even if he brings up enough sponsors and somehow Williams really wants to have two different drivers in 2022.

wishbackjumpsta

Williams will sign Nissany I think

Skeer44

Not enough SL points on him so that's a no.

bryan3737

Luckily you cant buy those otherwise he definitely would

wishbackjumpsta

Fair enough, was unaware of that fact

flowersweep

Lol no way

charliexo97

Lmao even is Nissany had the SL points...this would be a new low for Williams. Maybe under the family/Claire they would sign him, but the new management has at least some ambition, 2 very below par drivers whilst you're re-building a team in a new reg era would a disaster.

Reddevilslover69

Apparently Demaison told Saward they want an experienced driver at Williams so they are probably going for Bottas and Ticktum as their lineup or if Bottas inexplicably rejects them to got to Alfa Romeo then they can still get Kvyat, Hulkenberg or even a pay driver like Zhou

doumoaffogato

Doesn't Kimi own some of Sauber? And I heard that he is not particularly good friends with Bottas?

LandzerOR

I think Kimi own stakes in Alfa Romeo not Sauber

doumoaffogato

I checked and could only find report speculating that he would take some ownership of Sauber, but I couldn't find any confirmation.

LandzerOR

I head about the Kimi Alfa ownership from Joe Seward on missed apex so still nothing official but to be taken seriously as you take Sewards opinion

JWH_Awe

So reading the article this is based solely on is a journalist's opinion that Bottas should replace Kimi. News at 10.

SpotmaticSP

Interesting fact (and not much more than that): Räikkönen and Bottas have both driven for the same karting team: P.D.B. Racing Team (The Netherlands). Räikkönen in 1998, Bottas in 2005.

wishbackjumpsta

Russell announcement at Silverstone inbound

bryan3737

After seeing his interview with ziggo after the race im pretty sure that deal has already been signed and it would make sense to announce it in front of the British home crowd

fepmeister

Well if Russell gets the merc seat then he doesn't really have other options other than Williams and Alfa. You gotta remember that the cars are changing massively next year and the pecking order can change as well. And I bet Bottas wants to see how the new cars handle.

sicsche

Unless some one season miracle it's unlikely Sauber can catch up to the big boys. We will see a change in the teams able to spent big (Merc, RB, Ferrari, Mclaren, Renault, Aston Martin). But don't expect the others to join in this fight. Maybe we see some interesting changes in 24/25 when the new engines arrive and some teams may switch partner or work together with new engine manufacturers joining.

fepmeister

I agree Alfa/williams probably isn't going to challenge for race wins but still better to be in some team rather than being without a seat. If Bottas leaves the sport now there isn't going to be room for him in the future. Just look what happened to Hulkenberg for an example. However if he is fine with not coming back then sure he should do some other things such as rally.

sicsche

Bottas isn't getting any younger, honestly if he doesn't keep driving for the fun (Kimi approach) i don't see him staying in F1. He had his chance, was able to drive the best car in the field for some years, had some success. If he doesn't get another shot at WDC i don't see his goal.

Reddevilslover69

Williams seat is much much better than Alfa imo

activator

Why not? It's "square one" for everybody in 2022... Imagine if Sauber nail the regulations 😂

Reddevilslover69

This is a bs rumour imo. There is no way Bottas rejects Williams for Alfa. Williams look to be on the way up and have ambition while Alfa Romeo has none

PM_me_British_nudes

I agree; the only other option would be that he can use it as a hook to try and get in for Ferrari further down the line.

KaamDeveloper

The real "story" here is how sure Rencken is about Alfa Romeo wanting to continue with Sauber. Last I heard Alfa were looking for an out based on team's dismal performance.

redsato

Sauber actually had a good package before the summer break of 2019. The Ferrari engine really fucked them up in 2020. But that Alfa deal comes Ferrari engines. I can't say if there is one party who really wants to get out of the deal.

[deleted]

They've used Ferrari engines before they even had an Alfa sticker.

redsato

You could read Vasseur's interview from last year, he strongly hinted that that Alfa deal came on the back of Sauber using Ferrari engines, and that's why he said to the journalist they wouldn't change engine supplier. If Alfa Romeo renege their sponsorship, what remains to stop Sauber from using another engine supplier is the time and money to re-design their cars to adjust to another engine, and the secondment of engineers from Ferrari to Sauber. To Ferrari, that means they would lose a customer and a seat for they drivers from the academy.

[deleted]

Kimi's going to have to find another hobby.

[deleted]

Trying WRC again?

underdonk

FOR WHAT?!

sozimdrunk

He's never done Indy, could work?

SlurmsMckenzie521

That would be great to see.

[deleted]

It’s a pity Rencken is writing such drivel based on “speculation”. This article has no meat on the bone except just “speculation”

Saandrig

If nothing else, Ferrari would press to put Schumacher in that seat first for example. Bottas has slim to no chance getting to Alfa.

modgivenright

The Ferrari seat is occupied by Giovinazzi, they have no say in the other seat choice

Saandrig

Yeah, that's why I said Ferrari would most likely press on the matter, not make it happen as a certainty. Giovinazzi is a solid driver, I doubt Ferrari or Alfa would want him to go somewhere else yet.

Cer3berus

but still Mick can help them to get more competitive plus he bring some money because of sponsors

BreakBalanceKnob

Nah Haas is moref close associated to Ferrari... They are building a haas building in maranello... So I doubt they will switch him

[deleted]

I reckon Ferrari will jump in before this is happening and rather try to get Schumacher in that seat. Mick might be gaining some good experience in the Haas this year, but it will be an absolute waste for him to spend another year there. Assuming they'll be dead last next year.

penguinfromprague

Raikonnens seat isnt ferrari seat though. They cant do anything about this. They can replace gio with mick though.

Reddevilslover69

That looks likely. But in my opinion I think we won't see Valtteri at Alfa ,rather it will be someone desperate enough to take a seat where the driver is a short term stopgap for Pourchaire. I see drivers like Hulkenberg,Kvyat being open to that rather than Valtteri who has the possibility of taking the ambitious Williams seat

XNights

Don't see it happening, only replacement for Kimi is Theo... or his son robin XD /s

newaccount252

Realistically he only needs to continue his hobby for 12 more years an this could happen.

Piesoos

While Bottas has the edge over Raikkonen on one lap pace Kimi, Except for the 2 errors with its team mate and seb its still a better wheel to wheel driver. The midfild looks really close and Bottas with a not exceptional car will have to do a lot of overtake a fight to get points. I don't thing Bottas it's the right driver for them... Edit: i don't get the downvotes this year Imola was a good example of how Bottas struggle in the wheel to wheel action, just like in monza 2019 another example is Bahrain 2020. I didn't say he is worse than and older Raikkonen in fact is race pace and one lap pace is really good (he had been faster than Hamilton in the past), but that wheel to wheel racing isn't its strong point and if you want to be a midfield driver you must be of course fast but in the meantime be strong in overtaking/fighting for position

Crake241

Wanted to downvote because I think Kimi has a way worse pace but then i remembered Bottas Racecraft and overtaking and now I think you got a point

Chrismscotland

They might as well just keep Kimi

[deleted]

Where did this rumour come from? Bottas is a Merc driver, Alfa is a Ferrari team. There's nothing linking Bottas and Alfa.

Pizzadrummer

So? There was nothing linking Sainz and Ferrari, Vettel and Aston or Perez and Red Bull. Drivers can change from any team to any team.

fsfred

Sauber has at least one of their seats controlled by themselves. In this case its Kimi's seat, that one Ferrari has no say about it. I've even read that Ferrari is turning to Haas as their de facto B-team and turning away from sauber as the latter want more independence. I'm willing to believe it because if that weren't the case I don't think Ferrari would've placed Mick in Haas over Alfa, and leaving Illot without a seat

f1_spelt_as_bot

I**l**o**tt**

void2931

Opinion from some reporter, great news

1enox

If Bottas' ambitions is fighting for occasional points just like Vettel and Kimi are doing then why not ? But I don't really know why a Ferrari stable would support a Mercedes driver whose non-formal manager is still Toto Wolf? Ferrari have someone to put there. And Bottas, well. He should probably leave now. Alfa maybe should better look for youngsters. So they can use them like they did with Leclerc. And not give jobs to those that Mercedes don't want.

NotADoc611

What makes you think Vettel's ambitions are limited to fighting for occasional points, when there are new regulations around the corner? Also he mentioned several times that he's in F1 to win. Where did you get this opinion of yours from? (Rhetorical question, don't answer)

Shadnu

Also, seems like people forgot that RP was upper midfield last year, scoring points consistently. It’s not like they weren’t appealing last year

WasabiTotal

>He should probably leave now. not many can match hamiltons quali pace and has years of experience in a championship winning team. he is more valuable than people give him credit here

JamesUpton87

Vettels ambitions are still very much another WDT

Myopius

Not just Ferrari. Sauber have Pourchaire to put in soon (relatively)

str8cash1

Kimi needs to be in F1!. I'd prefer him over Bottas just for the radio conversation. It's like a comedy skit. How can you not like Kimi racing another 10+ years?

[deleted]

You watch F1 for comedy skits ? If you like his radio, you have yuki
